Catchphrases are things that can be used to make characters more recognisable and instantly familiar. It can really help them connect with audiences! But when used badly it can make them cloying, irritating or even hateful. This quackcast was inspired by Banes' use of a catch phrase on his latest page of Continuity Falls: "Ah'll be Gosh-Durned!". We also chat a bit about how content creators in general often come up with catchphrases in order to better connect with audiences and how silly that can be. Coming up with catch phrases like content creation is not usually easy, you have to craft and spit out a lot of it before something sticks and you can never really tell what they will be until it's happened… so the conversation also shifts to the constant treadmill of content creation that has become its own niche in the economy and how that can become a drag on a lot of people and lead them to doing dark deals… For example the once excellent Veritasium channel on Youtube, who's creator went from doing extensive research on interesting and unusual scientific questions, who then after he sold his channel to a production company it degraded to slickly produced illustrations of other people's articles, usually very poorly researched ones that have a lot of popularity. We'll chat more about that next week and how it can drive people to using AI and further degrade their content. But for now: catchphrases! What are your faves and have you ever come up with some for your characters or even yourself? For me a couple of my faves are "UNACCEPTABLE!" from Lemongrab on Adventure Time, and "Bah-leted" from Stongband on Homestar Runner and Friends. The closest I've come in my comics is "Hehe, DIE" by Cc in my comic Pinky TA, that seemed to strike a note with people. The best off Gunwallace track this week was Typical Strange - Great pop! A simple phrase. A viral trend. A lot of confusion. When your child starts repeating a cultural catchphrase like “six seven,” how should you respond—especially if its origins are unclear or potentially problematic? In this episode, Elizabeth Urbanowicz walks parents through a biblical framework for evaluating cultural phenomena. You'll learn how to avoid the “genetic fallacy,” ask wise questions, and guide your children to think critically rather than reacting with frustration or blind acceptance.Instead of extreme annoyance or uncritical engagement, discover how to use cultural trends as discipleship opportunities that train your child to carefully evaluate every idea they encounter.
This is a fun conversation about what certain Christian catchphrases mean or where they come from as well as talking though commonly misused Bible verses.

Send us a textThis week on The Wednesday Night Podcast, we're boarding the jazz-rock express with Chicago Transit Authority and the absolute banger, "Questions 67 and 68." We tried to analyze the complex time signatures, but honestly, we just got confused. So, we pivoted to the real pressing issue: Catch Phrases!Inspired by the song's query-heavy title, Craig leads us through a hysterically funny deep-dive into the history, present, and terrifying future of verbal shortcuts. We dissect the anatomy of phrases that defined generations (Looking at you, "I pity the fool!"). We ask: why do some last ("That's what she said") while others fade into painful, dated obscurity (We won't mention any, but they involve puppet sidekicks)? Finally, Craig unveils his highly anticipated (and deeply problematic) list of future catch phrases for the year 2045, which are 90% confusing AI references and 10% surprisingly effective ways to insult a sourdough starter.Tune in to find out which host gets called out for using a phrase that went extinct in 2003, and whether we can successfully implant a new, completely nonsensical catchphrase into the global lexicon!website: actonmusicproject.comemail: music@actonmusicproject.comCraig's phone number: (978) 310-1613

Welcome to the The Achievers Podcast. I'm your host, Amber Deibert, Performance Coach. I help enterprise sellers unlock their full potential by aligning their work with how they workout and cleaning up mindset trash, so they can sell more, stress less, and take back control of their time and success. I'm weirdly passionate about adult friendships, mostly because no one teaches us how to do them. As kids, friendships just happen. You sit next to someone in class, or play on the same team, and boom! BEST FRIENDS. But as adults? It feels awkward. You want deeper friendships, but how do you even start? You can't exactly walk up to someone at the park and say, “Hey, want to be my best friend?” Here's the good news: friendships aren't magic. They're built. And there's actual research, practical strategies, and even some scripts that make it so much easier.

This week in the Labyrinth, we're firing up the hyperjets and diving helmet-first into the big news: Spaceballs 2 is officially happening! Mel Brooks is back as Yogurt (yes, seriously), and he's bringing Rick Moranis and Bill Pullman with him. We break down everything we know so far about the upcoming Amazon sequel—including the “definitely not a reboot but kinda is” franchise expansion and Josh Gad's mysterious role. Will we finally get Merchandising 2: The Merchandising? Then we ask: What the hell happened to movie catchphrases? From “Bueller...Bueller...” to “I'll be back,” Gen X grew up quoting our favorite flicks. But nowadays, catchphrases are just callbacks or punchlines. Is it laziness? Nostalgia fatigue? Or is Hollywood too scared to get meme'd? We throw out our favorite all-time movie quotes and get predictably sidetracked by Spaceballs dialogue.
