It's Possible - Conversations with Successful Online Trainers
This episode sees the team talking about how you can be ready for success when your thing becomes the thing. The Episode: Carolina's Time to Shine In the world of online training and beyond, you do not need to win every time in order to be successful. Most really successful individuals only hit the bullseye a couple of times at most. The key is in preparing for when that day arrives so that you can make the most of it and allow that success to become sustainable. Important aspects of this lie in your authenticity as a trainer, so becoming and staying clear on yourself and your audience is vital. In This Episode Where will you be when your thing becomes the thing? [0:09:21] Hitting gold on occasion is enough — increase your odds strategically [0:16:02] Paying attention to the market and its trends without being swayed [0:23:37] Capitalizing on popular movies and events [0:30:03] Setting yourself up for success and sticking to your unique strengths [0:33:40] “You only need one big win. You don't really know what those are going to be, you're certainly not going to win every time. Odds are you are not going to win the first time. You should try a bunch of different things strategically in order to increase your odds of hitting gold that one time.” — Jonathan Goodman Being Ready for When Your Ship Comes In There are so many examples of times when your service might grow in high demand. It happened to OTA when the pandemic began and it is happening now with chess coaches since the spike in popularity of the series The Queen's Gambit. If you can stick to your thing, when the time comes, you can hit gold, and by staying authentic and consistent, you can make your offer that much more solid for that time! Staying True to Your Unique Values and Personality A huge piece of this puzzle is to avoid hopping around and changing your offer. No matter who and where you are, it is likely there are potential customers and clients for your service. So hone that thing you do every day, and pay attention to the markets and trends, but do not let them sway or dishearten you. Getting Ready for Success As it is often said, luck happens where preparation meets opportunity and this is exactly what you are facilitating here. You need to be ready to seize that opportunity when it presents itself. The preparation that goes into your work is around your unique personality and value, and by strengthening that authentically, you will be readying yourself when that time inevitably arrives! Did you know that your gut microbiome starts in your mouth? We’re told that the key to good oral health is to follow the recommendations set out by the ADA, but is this the best way? Trina Felber, the creator of Primal Life Organics, joins me today to discuss natural oral health. About Trina Felber Born in 1968, the second of five daughters in Toledo, Ohio, Trina grew up amongst a house full of skin and beauty products. As a youth, Trina was always health conscious and science-driven. In 1992 Trina obtained her RN diploma from St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. Over the next decade, she worked as a Registered Nurse in specialty areas including Burn ICU, Neuro ICU, Medical ICU, and Surgical ICU. Trina spent a year as a traveling nurse before committing to furthering her education. Trina studied and obtained her BSN in 2004 from The University of Akron. She continued her studies and received her Masters of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Nurse Anesthesia in 2007. In 2010, Trina was introduced to Crossfit and the Paleo lifestyle by her husband, box owner Josh Felber. True to her “Type A” personality, Trina researched and perfected her Paleo lifestyle. She and her husband easily adapted to the Paleo diet and raise their three young children Paleo. Living proof that Paleo equals health, Trina takes the Paleo world beyond the diet and applies it to the food for the skin. After all, to truly reap the benefits, all aspects - including skincare, must be as nutrient-dense as possible. Trina is committed to providing nutrient-dense, 100% Paleo Skin-Food that is made from fresh, organic ingredients. Each Creation is extensively researched for specific skin types and conditions. No product is made until it is ordered ensuring the freshest, most nutrient-dense Paleo Skin-Food is delivered. Trina continues to work as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, as well as Paleo Advocate, Educator, and Skincare Expert. On this episode of The Girlfriend Doctor, Trina shares how the dental products recommended by the ADA might actually be creating more disease in your mouth than they’re solving. When these products contain triclosan, SLS, fluoride, and other harsh chemicals, they disrupt your mouth’s natural pH balance. Trina explains how your mouth, specifically your saliva, is the first line of defense against infections, diseases, and harmful bacteria that exists in our modern world. This is especially prevalent in our American soil is lacking so many of the vitamins and minerals due to factory farming and harmful chemical treatments. By changing your dental products to natural, chemical-free ones, Trina says that you can help create a more alkaline environment for your mouth. An alkaline mouth has a direct impact on your gut health and microbiome. Trina gives us the information we need to make informed choices about the dental products we choose. She tells us what the problem with most ADA recommended dental products is. And finally, Trina gives us a definite answer to why we should be scraping our tongue every day. How confident are you in your dental hygiene? Do you scrape your tongue every day? As always, you can ask me anything and let me hear your thoughts in the comments on the episode page. If you have questions, email team@drannacabeca.com. In This Episode: Where a good, healthy microbiome starts How dental products could be creating more disease in your mouth How American soil is impacting our overall health, starting with our dental hygiene What happens when your mouth is an alkaline environment What the problem with most dental products is Why it’s so important to scrape your tongue Quotes: “One of the best ways that you can protect yourself is by keeping your mouth healthy. But if you’re using harsh ingredients or triclosan, SLS, or even fluoride, inside your mouth and body, you’re destroying your body’s first line of defense against all bacteria and all bad viruses.” (5:59) “I think that the ADA really has us all brainwashed into believing that we are supposed to brush our teeth to clean them when in reality, your saliva is meant to do that as you eat.” (10:03) “I know a lot of people that have not gotten the flu or a cold since they switched their oral care products because it’s such a drastic change when you use what’s good for you and something that allows your saliva, your body’s natural way to defend you, to actually work the way it’s supposed to. It’s a powerful thing.” (21:43) Resources Mentioned Buy Mighty Maca Plus Get the 21 Day Oral Detox Kit Buy the LED Teeth Whitener Buy Natural Hand Protectors Buy The Gemstone Face Collection Find Trina Felber and Primal Life Organics Online Find Primal Life organics on Facebook | Twitter | YouTube | Pinterest | Instagram Check out the full episode page Find Dr. Anna Online Follow Dr. Anna on Facebook | Instagram | Twitter

Pelvic floor issues can impact men and women of any age, whether they’ve experienced a pregnancy or not. When one scientist and personal trainer found she had severe pelvic floor problems and was told she couldn’t train anymore, she was determined to find a better way. Sarah Smith joins me to talk about what the pelvic floor is, what it does, and how we can support our pelvic floor health throughout our lives. ALL ABOUT PELVIC HEALTH Sarah explains what some of the symptoms of the two types of pelvic floor conditions are. From pain during sex to urine or fecal leakage, there are quite a number of things you need to watch out for. If you think you might have pelvic floor trouble, it’s easy to want to turn to Dr. Google to solve all your problems. But all those Kegel exercises might actually be doing more harm than good. It’s always a good idea to get medical advice from someone trained in pelvic floor health to advise on the best corrective exercises for you. Sarah shares some reasons why women, and men, might have pelvic floor trouble even if they’ve never been pregnant before. It’s a common misconception that only people who have given birth experience issues, and that’s exactly why there’s a lot of stigma around talking about the pelvic floor. Sarah also gives us some incredible and practical tips that we can start doing today that will improve our pelvic floor health and, hopefully, prevent future issues. Having a regular, active routine that’s not full of high-intensity training is so beneficial. And don’t discount the power of going for a walk - it’s good for your physical health, as it’s gentle on your body, and it has so many mental and emotional benefits as well. How do you protect your pelvic floor health when you’re training? Do you maintain a regular, active routine? What do you wish you knew more about your pelvic health? Let us know on the comments on the episode page! Got a question you’d love to hear me answer on the show? Leave me a voice message here! In This Episode Where the pelvic floor is and what it does What some symptoms of pelvic floor issues are How corrective exercises can actually impair your pelvic floor function What other factors might trigger pelvic floor issues outside pregnancy What practical steps you can take, starting today, to improve your pelvic floor health Why walking should be part of your workout routine Quotes “If you can’t coordinate your breath and your alignment with your movement then if you create a lot of pressure in your abdomen, then absolutely when you’re exercising or when you laugh, cough, or make any kind of sudden movement or if there’s too much tension, it can cause leaking of urine or feces.” (17:36) “Redesigning your movement practice and knowing that long-term, whether we’re talking gut health, mental health, or pelvic health, having options in movement that are somewhere between sitting on the couch, chair, or car and working really, really hard at the gym is going to be helpful for a lot of different things.” (32:13) “We have to understand our bodies. We don’t have to get PhDs in anatomy and physiology or neuroscience, but we have to have a fundamental understanding, especially as women, physiologically about how our menstrual cycle, our hormones, our gut responds to all these choices we’re making so we can make informed decisions and we can notice the red flags.” (59:46) Links Breathe Like A Bad Ass Find Sarah Smith Online Follow Sarah Smith on Instagram | Facebook | Pinterest | YouTube | Vimeo Running an online health business? Whether you’re terrified of conflict or you thrive on it, learning how to embrace conflict in the healthiest way possible is incredibly important for successful relationships. Today’s guests go so far as to say there’s a certain level of beauty that develops during conflict. CrisMarie Campbell and Susan Clarke are here to talk about why we should all embrace the moments that bring conflict to our relationships. Chronically repressing feelings of conflict and avoiding stressful situations can actually lead to bigger health problems. Once you start addressing some of the issues, you might notice positive changes to your health. Some of these feelings might even be held onto from childhood. When you’re in a relationship, communication styles are more often than not going to be different. But it’s important to honor and respect your partner’s communication style and learn how to have meaningful conversations, even when they have an element of conflict. You might also find that you have feelings of jealousy over something your partner is doing. CrisMarie and Susan explain how you can look at your emotions to determine why you’re feeling that certain way and how you can deconstruct the stories you hold. CrisMarie and Susan share how you can reconnect with your partner when you’re feeling out of touch with them or like you’re constantly angry and annoyed. When you’re in a committed relationship, it’s so imperative you at least try to work things out than throw it all away. One of their favorite techniques is the 5-5-5 rule to foster intimate, constructive conversations in a structured manner, so no one feels attacked or overwhelmed. What is your love language? How do you feel after having an argument with your partner? Do you ever feel jealous over something your partner is doing? In This Episode: Where the beauty comes from during conflict What repressing and avoiding conflict can cause in your body How you can honor and respect the differences in communication styles How you can turn around your feelings of jealousy to figure out what you’re not fulfilling in yourself How you can get back in touch with your partner when you’re feeling constant anger with them What the 5-5-5 rule is and how it can help you have more intimate, constructive conversations with your partner How to rebuild lost trust within your relationship Quotes: “The more ideas that are out there, the more possibilities that are out there, the world expands. My world gets bigger and I’m not stuck in the narrative, whether it’s in my relationship or it’s out in the world in general, that I would be stuck in if I only had my own storyline.” (8:27) “You’re defining yourself, meaning, I’m speaking out what I want. That doesn’t mean your partner has to change, you’re just defining yourself and doing what’s important for you and that’s a very powerful move.” (22:44) “The key is once you decide, ‘hey, I need to find my voice’ is to remember that you still have this part, that they’re your expectations and that person over there never knew about them. So you’ve got to give that some room to let that other person catch up.” (45:14) Links Buy The Beauty of Conflict Find CrisMarie Campbell & Susan Clark Online Find CrisMarie Campbell & Susan Clark on Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | LinkedIn | YouTube Check out the full episode page Find Dr. Anna Online Follow Dr. Anna on Facebook | Instagram | Twitter

Women in Business: Inspirational Stories of Women Entrepreneurs
If you’re thinking about hiring your first employee, this episode of Women in Business is for you! The most important thing you need to know when you’re getting ready for your first hire is that you shouldn’t hire someone just because you’re busy. You don’t want to hire someone who ends up watching you be busy all day. So what do you need to do before you hire someone? First, you need to figure out exactly what tasks you do every day. Write down everything you do in a day, a week, a month, and mark what tasks you can outsource to someone. This is the start of your job description. But before you even think about advertising for an employee, you need to standardize how you work. You can’t expect someone to come into your business and work the way you want them to if you haven’t taken the time to write it out! So write down step-by-step how you work your way through each task. Guess what? You’ve just started your first procedures manual! As you write down every task, your manual will get fuller and more complete for your business. You can also then break your tasks down into monthly, weekly, and monthly buckets - you want your new employees to know when they need to complete their work. This manual will help you figure out whether you need to hire one generalist or multiple people to cover the tasks you need to outsource. And remember, you don’t need to go all-in with a full-time employee(s) right at the start, you can hire part-time and figure it out from there! Are you thinking of hiring your first employee? Do you know what tasks you would outsource? How will you pay your employee(s)? In This Episode: Where to begin the hiring process Why you shouldn’t hire just because you feel like you’re drowning in business How to write a job description for the position you’re hiring for Why you need to standardize your own processes before you hire anyone else How to create your first procedures and processes manual What your daily, weekly, and monthly buckets are Who you need to hire based on what tasks you need to outsource How to pay your first employee Quotes: “Just being busy isn’t a good enough reason to hire someone who’s just going to sit there and watch you be busy. If anything, it would be a colossal waste of money.” (10:45) “You can’t expect someone to know what you haven’t instructed them to do.” (13:32) “Position yourself as the owner of the company and free yourself from some of the daily, mundane tasks that keep you in the weeds so you can get out there and support that additional expense - your new hire.” (18:04) Links Get your free download for How To Hire Your First Employee Sign Up for My Free Webinar: The 5 Step Framework to Building Your Profitable Service-Based Business Find Dr. Cortney Baker Online Join From Side Hustle to CEO on Facebook Keep up with everything Women In Business Follow me, Dr. Cortney Baker on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | LinkedIn KidsCare Home Health Are you a female millennial entrepreneur who wants to start or scale your service-based business but not sure where to start? Amanda has been in Midwifery practice for over 27 years. Although most of her practice has been in Leeds, she also worked as a Midwife in New Zealand, experiencing a very different model of Midwifery care. Over ten years ago Amanda began to challenging the practice of immediate cord clamping after realising that this common routine practice had absolutely no evidence base and deprived babies of valuable stem cell enriched full blood. Amanda has campaigned for a change in practice from immediate cord clamping to delayed cord clamping and has seen all national and international guidelines change their guidance to recommend this. Amanda is a co-inventor of the award winning Basics/Lifestart trolley which enables vulnerable babies to be ventilated whilst the umbilical cord is kept intact to ensure they receive their full blood benefit. Amanda has written many articles and talked at numerous events about optimal cord clamping and changing practice and fully harnessed the power of social media by participating in an international network of midwives, doctors, birth-workers and parents who share and disseminate the latest in research and education regarding optimal cord clamping. Amanda has been nominated and won several awards for her work in this area including Midwife of the Year 2015, British Journal of Midwifery and Midwife of the Year 2012, Yorkshire Evening Post. She works with and supports midwives in other countries to enable them to give informed choice and practical guidance in optimal cord clamping. In This Episode: Where immediate cord clamping originated and why The evidence behind immediate cord clamping (hint: there is NONE!) Babies lose 30% of their blood volume with immediate cord clamping The amazing composition of cord blood and why your baby gains more benefit from the full cord blood at the time, rather than bank the blood for later use Where Amanda’s interest in cord clamping came from Immediate cord clamping linked to autism The gradual change in guidelines – slower than ideal Differences in active and physiologic 3rd stage (placenta delivery) The movement toward a physiologic 3rd stage in a non-complicated birth Why the NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) were reluctant to change their guidelines Where some hospitals are better than others in catching up with implementing the new guidelines The difference between delayed and optimal cord clamping How to optimise your baby’s transition from in utero to the big wide world Guidelines vary throughout the world, and hospital policies are different even within the UK Oxytocic drugs to deliver the placenta, as well as immediate cord clamping, are interventions for which informed choice needs to be made How we as parents can make a change to practice!! This is a global problem, not just a UK problem Special circumstances: prematurity or poorly babies (those who bandit most from delayed cord clamping) The LifeStyle trolley which allows babies to be resuscitated with the cord intact, reducing many health problems in compromised babies My fundraising brain wave to allow every hospital to have a LifeStyle trolley to help more babies receive optimal cord clamping – edit: these machines are around £7k each, so I thought it’d be more beneficial to raise awareness from the ground up educating mums to be!
