On this episode, Kari Kurto, National Science of Reading Project Director at The Reading League, discusses her role in creating the Reading League's curriculum evaluation tool. Seeing the term “Science of Reading” being misused as a marketing label, Kurto saw the need for a simple way for educators to cut through confusion and evaluate a given curriculum's claims. Her conversation with Susan Lambert touches on her background teaching students with dyslexia, the non-negotiables in a Science of Reading curriculum, and how educators can use the information about a curriculum once it's been evaluated to inform instruction. While Kurto stresses that no program is perfect, she has made it her mission to equip educators with a tool to more easily and objectively access information when making curriculum choices. In this episode of the Psychedelic Medicine Podcast, Star Rose Bond, LCSW joins to discuss the topic of using psychedelic-assisted therapy to address intergenerational trauma. As seen in Huffpost, Vice and Psychology Today, Star Rose is a Renegade Psychotherapist, Social Activist, Clinical Supervisor for PEARL Institute and Co-Founder of Life Camp. With a Bachelor's degree from NYU and a master's from Columbia, Star brings 15 years of clinical trauma therapeutic services and experience serving marginalized, under-resourced and at risk populations specializing in harm reduction and PTSD recovery. In this conversation, Star introduces the topic of intergenerational trauma and explores how psychedelic experiences may be leveraged to address this pernicious condition. She begins by explaining what intergenerational trauma means, how it gets passed down, and how it manifests. Star talks about the importance of psychedelic therapists and facilitators having awareness of trauma-informed modalities in order to better serve these populations. She also discusses the complexities of addressing generational trauma, and how it can often be difficult to process sensitive topics within the family unit. However, in conclusion, Star emphasizes that the capacity to heal is an intrinsic aspect of human existence, and that even in particularly dark moments, it is possible to get in touch with this possibility.    In this episode you'll hear: How the conditions of Capitalism produce and exacerbate chronic stress The profound impact of neglect and abuse in early childhood  The unique experience of intergenerational trauma for BIPOC peoples and the recent rekindling of a spirit of connection in these communities due to psychedelic medicines  How processing intergenerational trauma can transform familial relationships Ethical and practical considerations for facilitators and therapists guiding clients through psychedelic experiences aimed at resolving deep-seated trauma What to look for in a psychedelic-assisted therapist or facilitator   Quotes: “Just because you have several students or several clients who've experienced the same trauma, don't make the assumption that they're all experiencing it the same way. Or maybe you'll meet a client who has had trauma similar to yours—don't assume that they have undergone the same emotional impact or psychological impact as you. The truth of the matter is we are complex beings. We have so many different moving variables that go into our psychology and that essentially indicate or play a role in how we respond to things.” [8:43] “We can't always express or understand why things happen the way they do. But, we can start to make meaning through a spiritual understanding which in turn lends itself to a sense of ease and comfort.” [22:20] “When you are going into these experiences as a facilitator—whatever your background is—it is of the utmost importance that you are hyper cognizant and hyper aware of the harms that can be caused by not being aware of the ways in which you can navigate someone else's trauma as it shows up.”  [25:02]   Links: Star's website Star on Instagram Previous episode: Can Your Genes Predict Response to MDMA Therapy? with Dr. Dave Rabin MD, PhD Previous episode: Warning Signs When Selecting a Psychedelic Facilitator with Juliana Mulligan Previous episode: How to Choose a Psychedelic Facilitator or Retreat Center with Joël Brierre My Grandmother's Hands: Racialized Trauma and the Pathway to Mending Our Hearts and Bodies by Resmaa Menakem SHINE Support website Psychedelic Medicine Association Porangui

Leaving room for flexibility in our routines is crucial to adapt to unexpected events and challenges. The statistics show that through medical interventions, not only do our babies suffer, but the mother suffers." – Diana Bamford "The biggest challenge that we face today, in regards to what you're talking about? Shame and guilt." – Diana Bamford "Bringing awareness is my biggest vision for our planet, for our world. Because the more we know, [we can] destigmatize, normalize, and save lives." – Diana Bamford "You're not alone. But I think that's the one thing to know that it will pass. It will not last forever." – Diana Bamford   Key Takeaways: Trust your gut feelings and instincts, especially when it comes to making decisions about your pregnancy and childbirth. Having someone guide you can make a significant difference. Becoming a mother is not just a physical transformation but a profound journey that involves emotional and mental aspects. Embrace the challenges and changes that come with it. Challenge the stigmas associated with mental health, especially in the context of postpartum experiences. By addressing and discussing these issues openly, we can contribute to breaking down the barriers of shame and guilt. Advocate for personalized maternity care that respects your choices. It's essential to recognize that one size does not fit all, and the ability to choose the birth experience you want can lead to better outcomes for both you and your baby. Work towards normalizing the diverse range of emotions and experiences in motherhood. Break down the stigma associated with feelings of shame and guilt. Recognize that it's natural to have a spectrum of emotions, and no mother is immune to occasional struggles. Having a challenging day or making a mistake does not define your worth or identity. Recognize imperfections as part of the human experience and understand that they don't diminish your overall value.   Highlights/Timeline: [08:35] – Why should we address the stigma surrounding postpartum mental health? [11:22] – How has the attraction to midwifery care grown, especially during the the COVID period? [20:05] – Diana shares the biggest challenge mothers face today [26:14] – What is the mission and purpose of maternal mental health education? This week, we're taking a closer look at how to approach the fear of failure so that you can let go of it for good. The threat of failure brings up a lot of very real worries and feelings, which are completely valid. Failure is so wrapped up in our sense of self, what we're capable of, and our hopes for the future… no wonder we put so much effort into avoiding it.In this episode, I share the experiences that taught me to recontextualize goals in terms of ideas, commitment, and decisions. Practice this and you will never fail again! QUOTES “Just notice: what are you committed to? Where do you feel that in your body? What are you willing to keep doing until?  And then there is no way you can fail.”“It takes time to really sink into commitment. Every single time you keep a promise to yourself, you're edging closer to sinking into the commitment feeling.”“It's worth reflecting on your reasoning. Do you love the reason that you've decided to not take an idea into the next stage?”

Understanding different types of leads and what to do about them is a game-changer for growing your business.  In her latest episode of the Unstoppable Eventrepreneur Podcast, May Yeo Silvers delves into the nuances of managing different types of leads in your business. She categorizes leads into three groups: cold, warm, and referral, each requiring a unique approach so you can effectively move them closer to conversion.   May defines cold leads as those who have minimal awareness of your business, whereas warm leads have engaged with your content and are considering your services. The most valuable referral leads, come from past clients or those familiar with your brand, bringing a level of trust and familiarity to the table.   Highlighting the significance of referral leads, May advises allocating about half of your sales efforts to strengthening relationships with past and current clients, as well as brand enthusiasts. This group, while not directly using your services, can act as powerful advocates.   In terms of sales outreach, May recommends a balanced approach. Spend a quarter of your time creating authoritative content that demonstrates your expertise. This establishes your brand's credibility and attracts warm leads, who should receive the remaining 25% of your effort, guiding them towards feeling safe to engage further.   Moving leads through the buying cycle is another key focus. May outlines clear strategies for each lead type: providing solution clarity and results for cold leads, offering evidence and testimonials to warm leads, and giving reassurance and a sense of safety to referral leads to encourage their buying decision.   Wrapping up the episode, May introduces an exciting opportunity for listeners: her upcoming in-person event on vision and strategic planning for 2024. Attendees will be equipped with the tools to set intentional goals and craft a comprehensive roadmap for success. Don't miss this chance to turn your aspirations into actionable plans. Secure your spot now and get ready to transform your approach to business in the coming year. Join May and other like-minded professionals for a day of learning, growth, and strategic planning!   Quotes: • “Just say, ‘Hey, I saw you post about this problem that you are facing or that you have a question about how to plan this particular event. Here, this is the content that I've created to help my clients, to help my followers. So watch this”. Send it to them. so now they'll be like ‘Oh wow, they really are seeing me, they see that I have a problem and they're actually taking the time to send me this information.' Now you've got their attention.” (14:14 | May Silvers) • “After having some form of communication in terms of sending them the content, and then maybe follow up to say, ‘Hey, did you enjoy the content? Did you get a chance to watch this?' But don't stalk them. When they follow you on your social media, you follow them back on their social media. You want to be able to see what they're doing. You want to hit the like and the love button and give some form of a comment. So the whole goal here is to let them be familiar with your name, you peak their curiosity, and then they research you.” (14:53 | May Silvers) • “Share an event that has a similar challenge to the client. Tell them your process, so you're making them feel comfortable. So they know what it's like if they were to work with you. Now you are making them feel safe.” (16:59 | May Silvers) Links Join me at our last in-person event for 2023 at Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Dec 2 2023!   This impactful and life changing event starts at 8am-5pm and there is a virtual and in-person option. He explains how valuable feedback from users can be in improving the software and increasing revenue. Sean shares his own examples of how support channels have helped him enhance his products.Key Points Interacting with software users allows you to understand their experiences and improve your product. Delegating customer support means missing out on valuable feedback and potential revenue. Feedback from users can lead to important enhancements and the discovery of new market opportunities. Setting up a sustainable number of support channels helps manage and prioritize feedback effectively. Email support and analytics tools like Hotjar are effective channels for gathering user feedback. The feedback Sean received contributed to the addition of multi-language support and a new pricing tier. Customer support interactions can uncover design pattern flaws and prompt necessary corrections. Quotes "Just because users are using your software doesn't mean they're getting value from it." “Just updating your experience on your resume is no longer enough,” Tracy explains on this solo episode of BossMakeher. In order to be competitive in today's crowded job market, you need a resume that is going to penetrate through all the noise, grab a recruiter's attention and encourage them to keep reading. This starts with a crucial first step that too many female executives overlook but that Tracy will share today. She'll explain how to optimize your search and get the most from hiring a resume writer (which is non-negotiable), saving your time, money and frustration.  Tracy will explain the data you should be gathering about potential jobs, how to evaluate them based on your needs, skills and the requirements of your potential new employer. Learn how to create a balanced spreadsheet for a more targeted job search, what the most important part of your resume is and the step a recruiter will take if they want to learn more.  Resume-writing is a skill like any other, and seeking professional help can save you a great deal of whiplash. Join Tracy to learn the different types of resumes you'll need, the ideal amount of time to dedicate to job searching, what not to put in your headline in order to be considered by recruiters.  Quotes “Just updating your experience on your resume is no longer enough. The market is highly competitive, and so what you need to have is alignment to the role that you want, and a competitive advantage.” (2:32 | Tracy) “Isn't it the job of the resume writer, to know what the resume  needs to be? The answer is, actually, no. They're looking to you to tell them what the direction of your resume should be. And if you don't know, they can't know.” (5:21 | Tracy) “You cannot design a resume to do everything. What your resume needs to do is have irrefutable alignment to the role that you need or that you want such that the recruiter can basically grab the information and forward you along without hesitation.” (9:02 | Tracy) “You've got to be really clear on the role you want, the role and the role that will meet your needs. That is how you begin to put together a resume that will penetrate through.” (10:29 | Tracy) “I highly recommend not trying to do this yourself. You need eyes on this, you need support, you need expert opinions. But ultimately, there's nothing like a great resume writer. There are a lot of bad ones, but there's nothing like a great one who can make you stand up as the woman that you are on paper and just be more powerful than you ever could have imagined.” (21:08 | Tracy) Links Learn more about BossmakeHer here: www.bossmakeher.com  Connect with the BossmakeHer team for your free initial consultation here: https://calendly.com/madeline-bossmakeher/initial-consult-website Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/bossmakeher/message

Ever feel like there aren't enough hours in the day? Jenna Piche, once a marketing executive and now a functional diagnostic nutrition practitioner, has dialed in the art of mastering her time and mindset. This week, Dr. Lara Salyer learns Jenna's game-changing strategies for a balanced and productive life and medical practice.   One of the key insights Jenna shares is the concept of the “positive no”. She explains that it's okay to say no and set boundaries, as long as it is done in a respectful and positive manner. By communicating your limitations and commitments, you can avoid overextending yourself and prioritize your own needs.  To use their time to its maximum potential, Jenna encourages practitioners to delegate tasks that are not in their zone of genius, allowing them to focus on the work they are truly passionate about and only they can do. Another valuable tip Jenna offers is the importance of routines and rituals. By creating a workday startup and shutdown routine, practitioners can set themselves up for success and ensure they are working efficiently and effectively. These routines also allow for intentional planning and reflection, helping practitioners to optimize their time and energy.   This episode underscores a valuable message: success, both in a professional landscape and in personal realms, hinges on effective task prioritization, time and mindset management.   Quotes: • "Just stop working from a to-do list, right? Work with a daily big three or a daily big one, whatever it is. And once you get the important things done, you'll feel like you're making progress and then you can move on to the busy work." (12:01 | Jenna Piche) • "The idea of having routines and habits and rituals in place is that you focus on something once, you create a system to do that thing, and then you put that on autopilot." (18:02 | Jenna Piche)  • “But the idea that when you have routines in place and you do it every day, then it just becomes who you are and you move farther faster. So I apply that to the operations mindset. How can we touch something once, create a system, and then work the system so we can free up our mental brainpower?” (19:17 | Jenna Piche)  • "Leveraging these things and these systems and even the right frame of brain helps you accomplish more and less time so you can really enjoy the business that you've created." ( 36:10 | Jenna Piche) • “Because nothing beautiful or wonderful can happen unless you honor yourself and your own inner-creativity and inner-vibrancy and invest in yourself enough to envision a better future. Having this blank canvas and designing a work-life masterpiece that is uniquely yours, that feels like home and it's personalized, and the biggest bottleneck, or I should say the tiniest bottleneck that we need to move through is time management. When embarking on a new venture, it's easy to compare ourselves negatively to our peers on social media, to try to be too much to our patients and forget what brings us joy. The more you define success on your own terms, based on your own values, the less you're likely to feel imposter syndrome or burnout. Today, Dr. Lara will delve into the three categories that tend to cause medical entrepreneurs the most overwhelm and worry: social media, patients and their healing, and overall success. She'll help you determine your own personal metrics to help you gauge whether your current situation is working for you, whether it's time to make changes large or small, or if it's time to go in a completely new direction.    She'll present the metrics by which she measures her own success and progress and provide examples from her own life. She also offers up thought-provoking questions which will help you hone in on yours. You'll consider your needs based on your geographical location, your budget, what work/life balance means to you. How can you use social media as a source of inspiration, to recognize where your role as practitioner ends, and how you personally define success?    The most important thing to remember is that there is no one way to measure your metrics or determine your values. And the more you define your values and measures of success, the closer you'll get to putting the “me” back in metrics!   Quotes • “Just because you're grieving the absence of certain things in your life now does not mean you can't hold space and honor that that served a great purpose during those chapters in your life, but it no longer fit the overall equation of happiness and peace.” (3:27 | Dr. Lara) • “How do we measure our metrics?...There is no one right direction towards health, there is no one right way to run a business.” (7:43 | Dr. Lara)  • “Look at your own values, look, and filter your emotions through your mission and values. If you're still feeling envious, and jealous, then that might mean you want to move in that direction of that domain or value. And that's okay.” (10:39 | Dr. Lara) • “Emotions are messengers.” (10:55 | Dr. Lara) • “We don't need more data, more information, we need smart use of data and information in small strategic ways.” (17:41 | Dr. Lara)  • “We apply to medical school as a well-rounded human and suddenly now we're just doctors or nurses or PAs we forget what made us unique and self-expressive.” (22:59 | Dr. Laura) • “Our human condition is naturally gravitating towards change. And when it becomes stagnant, sometimes we need to, you know, kind of spice things up a bit.” (24:39 | Dr. Lara) Links Connect with Lara:  BRAINSTORM SESSION: https://drlarasalyer.as.me/discovery Holistic Hub FB group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/healthinnatemembers Join our newsletter list and win prizes: https://drlarasalyer.com/win/ Website: https://drlarasalyer.com Instagram: @drlarasalyer Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/drlarasalyer Linked-In: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drlarasalyer/ YouTube:  https://www.youtube.com/c/DrLaraSalyer TikTok: @Creativity.Doctor   Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

QUOTES: “Just because something is going better than you think it could go, well maybe you should ask yourself what's going on there because probably it's unsustainable.” “For every one hundred potential deals that show up on our doorstep, five of them actually make it onto the market place.” “If we're going to be in a deal, there has to be a relevancy there, nobody's doing this for fun, we're doing it because there is a product market fit between sponsor and investor at the end of the day.” “So what we do is we give investors good tools to analyze and track their portfolio in their own dashboard and so that's what the investors look in for, and so we are the communication infrastructure…” “These days, we're finding that the typical sponsor on the market place has started on average to over two billion dollar worth of deals, has been in multiple markets and has ten plus years of operating experience in the entity level.”   Recommended Resources:   Accredited Investors, you're invited to Join the Cashflow Investor Club to learn how you can partner with Kevin Bupp on current and upcoming opportunities to create passive cash flow and build wealth. 275 Staying In Alignment Despite Chaos and Negativity   Biases and skeptics exist in everything, however it's how we deal with this negativity that defines who we are and how we are going to grow. How we address these perceptions and skepticisms is what defines who we are as individuals.  In this episode Sarah Elkins and Crystal Whiteakre discuss how important it is to act with compassion and stay in alignment with your values even in the midst of chaos, or the perception of chaos.   Highlights How do you deal with Skeptics? Acknowledging that certain people won't give you the support you need and seeking it out. The perception of chaos in a room despite there being no chaos and working together to address perceptions using healthy communication.   Quotes “Just pause. Start there. And in that pause that should give you the space to tune into your awareness. So when you're tuning into your awareness, what are you aware of around you that's happening, what are you aware of that's happening within you, and how you are being impacted or activated in any way- Or excited. Whatever that looks like. And that third piece is compassion, so whatever comes next after that pause and after you tune into your awareness, whatever comes out after that needs to be done with compassion even if it's just for yourself.” “Give yourself compassion and do the same thing for other people.”    Dear Listeners it is now your turn, Where will you disrupt bias in your life? How can you do this work to understand what your values are and making sure you're in alignment with them with all of your actions and behaviors. Because as we talked about already throughout this podcast episode, if you are not acting within the values that you profess to have then you are not going to be satisfied with your relationships and you are going to find yourself not knowing why you're dissatisfied and unhappy in your life. So go for it, figure this out, jot down some words to describe how you want to be known, and start to make sure that whatever actions you're taking, the words you're using are actually going to demonstrate those words. And, as always, thank you for listening.    About Crystal Whiteaker Crystal Whiteaker (pronouns: she/her) is an Inclusive Branding and Leadership Development and Consultant specializing in coaching and consulting for brands and leaders that care deeply about diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. “Just as humans often need help figuring out how to live their best lives, humans often need help helping their animals figure out how to live their best lives,” explains guest Shannon Bolt. As an animal care business owner and operator, Shannon understands animals deeply, particularly dogs and cats with behavioral needs. Today, Shannon and host Alejandra discuss tangible ways to communicate with our animals to enhance harmony in the home.  When we speak to our pets, we often use words and tones that would be effective with other humans, rather than animals. We may believe that yelling at our dogs or cats will work, but this often leaves them in a position where they are confused and not sure what to do instead. By learning the constructive consequences for our animals and understanding their communication style, we can strengthen our bond with our fur babies, and give them happier lives as a result. Although animals don't have the same language as humans, they certainly communicate. Learn more about the miscommunication between pets and humans, bridging the language barrier, and how to make your animals feel seen and safe. Quotes • “Just as humans often need help figuring out how to live their best lives, humans often need help helping their animals figure out how to live their best lives.” (2:37-2:43 | Shannon) • "Our animals don't have language. So, it makes it very hard for us to clarify to our animals what we think is happening, what we mean to communicate to them, and how we interpret their communication as well. (4:52-5:12 | Shannon) • "Our animals communicate with us all the time, and we are also communicating with our animals all the time. That doesn't mean the messages always come through on the other end." (5:12-5:23 | Shannon) • “We think that by yelling at our animals, that they're being bad, that that's an effective way because our animals don't want to hear that from us. We think yelling is an effective consequence. And that consequence just doesn't land for animals the same way that it might, if we were communicating to an animal with language, right, they don't perceive our judgment and disapproval, necessarily, in the same way that another human might. So that's not to say that they don't sense it. They don't necessarily know what to do with that feedback. And another thing is that when we're only telling our animals what we don't want them to do, they don't know what we want them to do instead. And so we're not helping them understand the other options.” (12:45-13:38 | Shannon)  • “We have to be conscious of the fact that when we respond to demand behavior, we get more demand behavior in the future. That might make us want to think about anticipating our animals' needs before they have to demand it from us.” (20:45-21:01 | Shannon)  • “If you have enough awareness about what's going with your dog, and what's going on in the environment, you can get a lot further than if you are letting yourself be distracted.” (34:08-34:19 | Shannon)  Links   Connect with Shannon Bolt: Shannon's Domestic Animal: https://www.facebook.com/DomesticAnimal Shannon Bolt's email: shannon.e.bolt@gmail.com To ask a question or request a topic, visit: languagealchemy.com/podcastquestion To join the mailing list and view show notes, visit: languagealchemy.com Podcast Music composed by Gary Lapow: open.spotify.com/artist/1HlMhcNfKIELxYil5mVqDI Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

Hi there, everyone! Thanks for tuning into this week's episode of the She Doesn't Settle podcast. Today, I'd like to share with you an important lesson, and it's about the importance of doing hard things in life. Let's face it, nobody wants to do the hard thing. It's natural that you want to pick the easy path in life; after all, you're wired this way. Your brain wants to protect you from danger, and it's designed to keep you safe. So, when you're faced with a scary challenge or an uncomfortable decision, your brain will want to keep you as far away from it as possible. However, sometimes you need to do those hard things in life to be happy and healthy. This week, I'd like to share with you the biggest benefits of leaving your comfort zone and doing those uncomfortable things. Even though staying in your comfort zone seems nice and cozy at first, nothing ever grows there. So, if you want to build new skills and reach new levels of excellence, you need to challenge yourself more. In this episode, I'm also going to give you some practical tips for tackling hard things and growing outside of your comfort zone, so if you're ready to grow, let's go! The Finer Details of This Episode: ‘She Doesn't Settle' group program Growing outside of your comfort zone The importance of doing hard things Changing your perspective and challenging yourself Quotes: “Just because you're not good at something is not a reason not to do it. In fact, it's probably a really good reason to do it so that you can get better and you can show yourself that you can do something and get better. ” “There's something called the hedonic principle, which comes into play; we're wired to move toward things that make us feel good, and we're wired to move away from things that make us feel uncomfortable.” “When we move through life, it's important to remember that the easiest path isn't usually the best path. ” “When we do hard things, it just builds resilience.” “We have to remind ourselves that as we progress, what we think is hard now is going to seem easy later.” “You're giving your brain a choice, you're deciding, and you can make either decision. But whatever you decide, own that decision. What happens, though, is when you can articulate the benefit, what one means over the other, we can get our brain to understand why doing the challenging thing is better.” Links:  She Doesn't Settle Podcast She Doesn't Settle - The Experience: www.kellytravis.net/sds  Instagram: www.instagram.com/shedoesntsettle/ One-on-One Coaching & Group Sessions

251 Our Magic Is Limited Only By Our Belief In Ourselves  As we grow we have a tendency to be rather ignorant of our skills and abilities, or we may even downplay just how significant our impact can be. It is only when we look inward and see that despite perceived imperfections we are capable of anything, we just need to get up and do it.   In this episode Sarah Elkins brings the esteemed Fatima Williams on to discuss the importance of your magic in every setting, from work to interpersonal relationships, and how that magic inspires not just others but yourself as well.  Highlights What you do is because of them, the people who believed in you and inspired you. Don't let the pain destroy your spark. Knowing and thinking about your contribution isn't enough, you need to actively participate and contribute with your magic to have others see it. Quotes “Just thinking about it inside your head won't get you the results you want.” “To embrace who we are and what we can do, that is something that is instrumental to illuminating other people's part and our part in the process.” About Fatima Williams  Fatima Williams is a Career Growth Strategist and a Certified CIPD HR with more than a decade of experience in the industry. She is on a mission to help 100,000 career professionals especially Women in particular to achieve DREAM CAREER MASTERY and build a career they love with the job they love waking up each morning. About Sarah Elkins  "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. Hi there, friends! And thanks for tuning into this week's episode of the She Doesn't Settle podcast. This week, I'd like to talk to you about leadership. And no, this won't be your typical ‘how to become a leader' type of episode. Today, we're actually scratching beneath the surface and diving deep into the concept of leadership. We're going to touch upon some common beliefs that hold people back from being leaders, the concept of leading from anywhere you are, and how to demonstrate your leadership skills even if you don't have the C-suite title. The first thing you should know about leadership is that you don't need to have any title whatsoever to be a leader. Leadership is not about titles or positions; it's about influencing and empowering others. That means you can lead from any level. As a matter of fact, you can have so much more impact from the middle of an organization than from the top. Don't believe me? Then, you're going to want to hear the rest of this episode! Make sure you join me today to learn about John Maxwell's three principles of the 360 Degree Leader, five ways to show up as a leader, and the concept of leading from any position. The Finer Details of This Episode: Beliefs that hold you back John Maxwell's three principles of leadership Five ways to show up as a leader Leading from where you are Quotes: “Just because you don't have a title, that doesn't mean you're not a leader.” “When you believe you can improve the organization from anywhere you're at, you're going to do what it takes to help the company, your team, yourself, accomplish your goals; that's what's most important. And that's what contributes to being a good leader.” “When people see that you're a leader who wants them to grow and reach their goals, you have major cheerleaders there.” “We all know that many people try to shift blame and make excuses. Those are not great leaders. Great leaders take ownership of problems, and they work to find the lessons and the solutions.” “Leadership calls for being able to get the job done in an effective and efficient way.” “You don't have to have the C-suite level title to make an impact, to lead. And sometimes leading from the middle feels a hell of a lot better than being at the top.” Links:  She Doesn't Settle Podcast She Doesn't Settle - The Experience: www.kellytravis.net/sds  Instagram: www.instagram.com/shedoesntsettle/ One-on-One Coaching & Group Sessions The 360 Degree Leader by John Maxwell
