Interview by Angela CroudaceLetlive's reunion isn't just a return to the stage—it's an emotional and spiritual journey for the band. After a seven-year break, the group, which originally formed in 2002, has reconnected, sharing stories of their lives and realising they were all in similar places. This realisation, combined with their shared love for music and each other, sparked the decision to hit the road again. Initially, they planned a few shows, but the idea grew into a full tour that includes Australia this September.Jason Aalon Butler, the band's frontman and son of soul artist Aalon Butler, explains that their decision to reunite wasn't merely about nostalgia—it was a deeper spiritual alignment. The members of Letlive have evolved individually, and as a result, their relationships have become stronger. “We understand ourselves much better than when we were younger,” Jason reflects, noting how life experiences have brought them closer. The band's line up now includes new faces, like Sage Weber on drums and Skyler Accord on bass. “They just fit again because they get it,” Jason says. Their talent and energy bring something fresh to the band, creating a perfect synergy with the original members.Letlive's sound has also evolved over the years, expanding from the punk roots of their early albums like Fake History to incorporate diverse influences, from jazz fusion to hip-hop. Jason explains that the band's goal has always been to expand their reach while remaining authentic to themselves. “We try to be as honest as we can with the art we create,” he says. After playing massive festivals like Warped Tour and Louder Than Life, Letlive is excited to return to the stage with their renewed energy. The band's live shows have always resonated deeply with fans, largely due to their raw transparency and passion. Jason emphasises, “We're just fans of the art, and we perform as fans first.”As the band prepares to return to Australia, Jason recalls his first trip there as a pivotal moment in his career. “It felt like I had arrived,” he says. For Letlive, this September marks not jusBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Rock upstarts The Used have always approached life and music with a youthful exuberance that has translated to their massive fan base and seen their brand of music endure over nine albums since their inception in 2000.Following the release of Heartwork Deluxe last year, which featured collaborations with artists such as Travis Barker, Jason Aalon Butler and Caleb Shomo, The Used are now ready to release more new music, coming at you dripping with attitude in the shape of new single Fuck You.It is as much a statement of intent as it is a throwaway remark for The Used, but to find out the deeper meaning behind the track HEAVY tracked down frontman Bert McCracken for clarification.Needless to say we got none."It's basically a love letter to all of our fans from the heart," he said of the song, struggling to hold back the laughter. "There's a little bit of a fuck you inside of that, and I think it's good to release the demons, especially after the horrific time we had during the pandemic. It's cathartic to say it out loud."The film clip is another work of magic, featuring live footage, babies and the traditional bird, with McCracken explaining it is kind of a homage to the bands early work."Our very first video ever was for A Box Full Of Sharp Objects which had live video footage of us hanging out and playing live and we wanted to recreate that. I think it's a really awesome thing to see a band backstage having fun with each other and hanging out. It's a side you don't get to see."In the full interview, Bert talks about the warning that comes with the music video, the intended audience Fuck You is aimed at, new music, the deluxe version of Heartwork, why bands put out deluxe editions of albums, the collaborations on the album and which one he enjoyed most, playing the recent When We Were Young Festival, possible Australian tour dates and more.

Kentucky rap/metal/hardcore outfit Guerrilla Warfare struck that delicate balance between genres with their 2019 EP C O N S U M E D and looked set to finally cross that invisible divide between the up and comers and the established bands.Their touring schedule was looking healthy and the groundswell that had been bubbling away under the surface was rapidly building to a crescendo and then, as it did to the rest of the world, COVID reared its ugly head and chopped the band off at the knees.Rather than retreat into self-pity and play the blame game, the band decided to knuckle down and focus on music to help them through the dark times with the result being their sensational five track EP C O N T R O L which is due for release on April 22.A swirling maelstrom of rap infused metal, C O N T R O L is a collection of rage and frustration that should allow Guerrilla Warfare a clear passage to their promising status hard earnt just two short years ago. With a healthy dose of contempt, coupled with a rapid paced yet concise vocal delivery Guerrilla Warfare are one of those bands that you listen to and have to respect. While their brand of rap drenched metal is not exactly new to the world, the way in which this trio delivers it is. Following the release of lead single from the EP MuLLigaN last month Guerrilla Warfare's name has suddenly been thrust back into the spotlight.HEAVY caught up with drummer/vocalist Garett Hood (G) and guitarist/vocalist Foster Lucas somewhere between Spokane and Idaho Falls to find out more about the band."MuLLigaN came out a month or so ago,” G began. “The lyrics behind the song are basically... the song is Mulligan, so if you're familiar with golf at all, if you swing and miss it's a reshoot or whatever (laughs). I feel like this entire two year period we've been in has been a big holding pattern so Mulligan is basically our reason to shoot. We felt like we were on the path to getting to the next level as a band to start playing bigger stuff and getting cool support offers and stuff like that and obviously the pandemic happened, and it went woosh and stopped everything cold turkey. Mulligan is the first track that I've ever tried to write that has a more positive outlook on my situation. I wanted to write it more for me as a confidence booster. Like, I've got this. There's a part of the lyrics that say's 'stop it, drop it, I got it.' It's more just me talking to myself, saying 'you got this, you're good. You're gonna get through this shit' and that's basically what the song is, trying to remember how to enjoy the ride because it's all just a work in progress. Don't get caught up on when the next thing's gonna come. That's why (in the video) the whole time we're running for no fucken reason. It's like 'why are you running?' 'we don't know. Nobody knows!' (laughs)."In the full interview G and Foster talk more about C O N T R O L and the songs on it, how this EP follows on from C O N S U M E, struggling with setbacks, the early days of the band, their musical mish mash and how they make it work, having Jason Aalon Butler of Fever 333 around and how it influences Guerrilla Warfare's music, future plans and more.

The video was directed by Danny Pollack (Machine Gun Kelly, The White Stripes) and is available to watch on VEVO or streaming directly below. “This video is basically exactly what the song means to us,” elaborates the band. “We die… our own bullsh*t kills us. Except Bardo, he's actually a sober nerd, we just thought that was funny.” BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT display a seamless mixture of pop, alt-rock, punk and hip-hop across BOYS DO CRY's six vivid tracks—including their recent single “I Love It” feat. Jason Aalon Butler of Fever 333 which is currently receiving airplay on SiriusXM's Octane channel. The EP was executive produced by 4x Grammy Award-winning producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, My Chemical Romance) and Butler. With the current state of the world we need hardcore punk musicians fighting for what's right through their music more than ever and the latest band to emerge from the ashes of the fallen is The Fever 333 fronted by Jason Aalon Butler (ex-letlive.) who is this week's special guest co-host on Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall.  Everything this man touches, turns to gold, so you can imagine the hype behind their new EP Man An America which was produced by John Feldmann and features the iconic Travis Barker as a guest drummer, alongside Aric Improta and guitarist Stephen Harrison. But as it turns out, being Butler's project, he wasn't afraid to tell the industry professional how it should sound as he explains the band's conception and purpose to podcast host Browny. He also explains how The Fever 333 is a band, for the people, especially people of colour who still to this day are being racially profiled, treated like shit and are losing their lives all because of the colour of their skin. If the #BlackLivesMatter movement needed a band to champion their efforts, this is the outfit to do it. So get to know them and find out more about Jason's new side project Pressure Cracks, a Southern Californian hardcore band guaranteed to bring you our of mosh retirement. There's also new music from Sensaii, Serene, Jonathan Davis and Parkway Drive, throwbacks from Architects, Killswitch Engage, Rage Against The Machine and Every Time I Die + everything you need to know about AWS who devastatingly should have won Eurovision this year... #WoSUATW #TheFever333 #JasonButler #JasonAalonButler #PressureCracks #letlive #HardcorePunk #POCPunk #TravisBarker #JohnFeldmann #JonathanDavis #KoRn #Architects #Marmozets #AWS #Eurovision #ParkwayDrive #Reverence #KillSwitchEngage #KSE #PWD #RATM #RageAgainstTheMachine #Sensaii #Serene #AustralianBands #PostHardcore #NuMetal #Hardcore #ETIF #EveryTimeIDie #SystemOfADown #SOAD #Pennywise #Shinedown #WallOfSoundAU

It's not often you get a big named band member on the podcast who has actually listened in before, but that's exactly what happened when **Chris Dudley** of **Underoath** stopped by for a chat, yes he's a fan of **_Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall_**. The band are just about to put out their new album **_Erase Me_** which is the first album in 10 years that features all the original members, so of course there had to be a little conflict/head-butting in the recording studio which Chris is more than happy to talk about. He also tells us what he thought of the disapproval and negative feedback the band received after finally using the "F-Word" for the first time on their single '**On My Teeth**', what his doctor thinks of his violent headbanging and his thoughts on being part of the inspiration behind the name of our podcast series. Your host **Browny** also takes a look at **Jason Aalon Butler**'s new hardcore band **Pressure Cracks** and addresses the drama surrounding **Story of the Year** ahead of their Australian Tour. Plus there is plenty of New Music to catch up on from **Bullet For My Valentine**, **The Fever 333, Fifth Dawn, Three Days Grace** and **Burn** **The** **Priest** (aka **Lamb** **of** **God**), throwbacks from **The Devil Wears Prada, August Burns Red, Conquer Divide** and more... #WoSUATW #Underoath #ChrisDudley #EraseMe #OnMyTeeth #Hardcore #MelodicHardcore #Metalcore #TheFever333 #PressureCracks #JasonAalonButler #JasonButler #AugstBurnsRed #StoryOfTheYear #SOTY #ConquerDivide #FifthDawn #TheGetawayPlan #BurnThePriest #CodeOrange #LambOfGod #ThreeDaysGrace #TheWonderYears #POD #AustralianBands #WallOfSoundAU #Podcast #MusicPodcast
