Following the release of her 2023 album “Wisconsin,” alt-pop artist Carlie Hanson was unexpectedly dropped from her record label. Unmoored, Hanson felt defeated and lost. LA no longer had the same allure, and the Midwest didn't feel like home. Yet, despite the uncertainty, her love for music refused to let her walk away.Undaunted and inspired by the empowering words of her peers, the multi-talented artist continued to pour herself into her diary-like songs. The tracks were a reflection of her own catharsis and new creative freedom. Carlie's exploration as an independent artist eventually led her to Fearless Records. There, the label embraced her and recognized the resonance of her raw storytelling and genre-bending production. On January 31, Carlie triumphantly unleashed her EP “too late to cry” under the label. 30footFALL is an American punk rock band that began in Houston, Texas. In 1995 they released their first studio album Divided We Stand on Fuzzgun Records. After hearing a demo, Bob Becker of Fearless Records signed them to a record deal and in 1997 produced their next album Acme-143. In 1999, the band released their most successful album, Ever Revolving, Never Evolving, on Nitro Records. The release was followed by numerous shows including a tour with The Vandals. I heard about these guys on the Fearless Flush Sampler when I got that at a local Jersey show when I was 18. That sampler introduced us to a ton of bands which we talk about in the interview. After piling up millions of streams and earning acclaim from the likes of KERRANG! and Metal Hammer, a sense of unwavering unity drives their second full-length offering, "Death Melodies", which arrives March 8 via Fearless Records. “The best stuff comes when we're together,” states Moose. “We'll joke around for hours, have a few drinks, and the songs write themselves. We're so connected in this way. There's no path. We're not trying to follow anybody. This is the first album that really sounds like Kill The Lights.” In December 2017, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE announced the departure of Thomas, replaced by Jason Bowld (PITCHSHIFTER, AXEWOUND). Bowld had been touring with the band since November 2015, filling in for Thomas, who had taken time off for family reasons. Prior to that, bassist Jason James' departure from BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE was announced in February 2015, during the recording of the band's fifth album, "Venom." Jamie Mathias was brought in as his replacement in May of the same year. In the podcast, "Moose" talks about his stepping away from BFMV, how he came to join KILL THE LIGHTS with his ex-bandmate and plans for the immediate future behind the kit. The second portion of the show features THE GEMS guitarist/bassist Mona Lindgren. Do you ever wonder who makes those chalkboard signs at Trader Joe's? Well, that's how Benjamin Soto got started—drawing Trader Joe's signs by day and designing band merch at night for Fearless Records.In 1998, Ben was recruited by Paul Frank to help kick off the massive millennial pop-culture brand Paul Frank Industries. Ben managed the brand creative for about 10 years, which meant involvement with character designs, the tee and fleece program, pajama prints, photoshoots, trade show booths, retail spaces, collaborations/licensed products. They even let him voice Julius the Monkey on the pilot show of Yo-Gabba-Gabba. In 2008, Disney Animation called and gave Ben the job of helping to create and Art Direct a cartoon based on Evel Knievel's daredevil culture. The Emmy nominated show Kick Buttowski had 52 episodes and aired between 2010-2012. Ben eventually left Disney to partner up with some other entrepreneurs to start the next creative adventure: C-Preme. They had captured "lightning in a bottle" with their 3-D youth bicycle helmet brand, Raskullz. Within three years, they had sold over 3 million helmets and countless other outdoor products. C-Preme sold to Bell Helmets (Easton Bell Sports) in 2014. Ben stayed on working for Bell Helmets until the next idea hit: a colorful cooler manufactured like a bicycle helmet. Target accepted a huge order; patents were in the works, and before the dust settled, they sold their company to Igloo Products Corp. in 2016. Ben is still at Igloo, managing creative for the cooler brand. You might've seen a little bit of Ben in the VW Playmate bus, retro coolers, eco coolers, licensed coolers, and the packaging and marketing of the brand. Igloo sold to Dometic in 2021 for a lot more money than anyone ever dreamed of. Michelle and Ben dive into Ben's amazing career, from Paul Frank to Igloo, and his extensive experience with graphic design. Ben shares stories from past trade shows (before the days of social media) and the wild ride that was Paul Frank in the early days.
