This week, we're scratching The Itch to rebel! AI art is trash, and you shouldn't use it. But if you put on a show as fun as this year's Pointfest, we'll forgive you. Mostly. The whole team made it to see 311 headline a lineup that also featured The Urge, Toadies, Finger Eleven, Sick Puppies, Alien Ant Farm, and our boys Oxymorrons and Tree One Four! Hear about the bands who impressed, The Point's second faux pas, and what legendary collaboration we finally got to see live! Plus, Aaron watches Josh Katz of Badflower try to burp, and KC and Dan celebrate Maynard James Keenan's 61st birthday by politely enduring Puscifer to get to Primus and A Perfect Circle! Enjoy. If you like what you hear, you can hear more of us every Sunday night broadcasting rock to the masses from 6-9pm CST on KCLC-FM. If you're not in the St. Louis area, you can stream the show from 891thewood.com, TuneIn, Radio.net, and OnlineRadioBox! This week, we're scratching The Itch for a birthday celebration! Our radio show was born 21 years ago this month, and to celebrate that milestone (and 250 episodes), the guys spent a wild week on the water with 31 bands on Shiprocked! Join us to kick off a new "season" with tales of broken lights, budding friendships, on-stage pranks, and the game show that created an unlikely legend. Oh, and those 31 bands we saw/met/discuss in this episode? Parkway Drive, Hollywood Undead, Nothing More, The Struts, 10 Years, Atreyu, Austin Meade, Buckcherry, Calva Louise, Ded, Des Rocs, Devour the Day, Diamante, Flat Black, The Ghost Inside, Ghostkid, The Glorious Sons, Goodbye June, Hawk, Jigsaw Youth, Jinjer, Kid Kapichi, Lansdowne, The Native Howl, Nevertel, Oxymorrons, Plush, P.O.D., Rivals, Silly Goose, and Spiritworld, plus Itch guests Keith Wallen of Breaking Benjamin and Taylor Carroll of Lit and KemikalFire among the all-star Stowaways! This week, we're scratching The Itch to get educated! Shiprocked sails along, we bring you the second part of the 2022 conversation that introduced us to Oxymorrons. And this is where it gets serious (while somehow remaining silly). Dee, KI, Jafe, and Matty dive deep on the authentic vs the performative, the futility of social media, the cheapening of art as content, and putting Black faces in rock spaces. Plus, Dan makes a new comic geek buddy, Aaron gives a guest homework, and we're bringing skits back. Enjoy. If you like what you hear, you can hear more of us every Sunday night broadcasting rock to the masses from 6-9pm CST on KCLC-FM. This week we're scratching The Itch to ... not be here! The boys are back on a boat enjoying Shiprocked, but while we're out partying with Oxymorrons, we thought we'd post a pair of throwback episodes to when we first met them three years ago, kicking off a genuine friendship. This two-part conversation remains quite possibly our all-time favorite. And when you listen, you'll understand why. Enjoy. The name Oxymorrons for this band isn't just a clever coincidence. These are some of the most thoughtful musicians one could meet. This is a band in touch with the universe around them and wanted to bring a higher meaning to the music. Sure rap-metal has been done, but not like this. Dave and Jafe from this Queens, NYC band bring the power, the introspection, and the fight for inclusion of the band to the scene of rock, metal, and yes, hip-hop.
Episode #188 Dave 'D' Bellevue is one of the 2 singers in Oxymorrons, along with his brother 'K.I.' who just got back from touring Europe with Corey Taylor. Oxymorrons are an American Hip Hop - Rock fusion band from Queens, New York. The band recently released their new album Melanin Punk in October 2023, and are hitting some of the biggest music festivals this year! D talked to Mistress Carrie about songwriting, inspiration, touring, Rock influencing Hip Hop, and Hip Hop influencing Rock, coffee, truck stop shopping, Law School, Holiday traditions, planning a wedding, and so much more! Congress is buzzing about UFOs – sorry, we mean "UAPs" (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena). Chuck Schumer and Senator Mike Rounds are leading the charge to declassify top-secret government UFO files, but it seems like not everyone is on board. A wild twist in the saga of conspiracy kingpin Alex Jones. He's offering $55 million to the Sandy Hook families he wronged with his outrageous claims. The follow up to 2021's "Mohawks & Durags" sets the band on pace for their goal, according to Jafe, of creating a blueprint for future rap/rockers and showcasing their unique sound on a totally new level. Plus a quick round of Rapid Fire is played and we learn what an honor it would be for Jafe to take a punch for Mike Tyson!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Oxymorrons are one of the hardest working bands out there. They've continue to innovate and make moves playing the music that they want to - and finally getting recognized for just how good they are. The post Oxymorrons appeared first on idobi Network.
Welcome to the uprising! While we get some much-needed rest after a wild weekend at Upheaval, we found some fun snippets from our interview series to tide you over until our recap. You'll hear the crazy story of why Alfonso from Heartsick missed our initial interview attempt, get some insight into the busy lives of the Oxymorrons as they prepare to release their debut album, catch a preview of a future conversation topic with Eva Under Fire, and take a peek behind the scenes as Black Note Graffiti records a Hall of Fame worthy liner. Plus, we've got further proof that Chris Meyer of MiEntertainment is a super nice guy, and we make sure not to botch Rebecca Potzner's last name. Welcome to the uprising! All four of 2022 Upheaval performers and notably pretty punk boy band Oxymorrons join us this week for our second conversation. Our first interview, in January 2022, was somehow one of the funniest and deepest chats we've ever had, and this doesn't disappoint as a follow-up. As they prepare to release their first full LP, Melanin Punk, they've got plenty to say about the creative process, keeping fans' expectations changing, and how to be unapologetically authentic in all spaces. If you're looking for band that's making big moves and knows the literal ups and downs of the Upheaval experience, these are your guys. Check out their new single "Graveyard Words" here, and enjoy. This week, we're scratching The Itch... to learn. We had a great time laughing in the first part of our interview with the most electrifying band in alt entertainment, Oxymorrons. The laughs continue in the second half, but the conversation takes some turns into rich discussions about performance vs authenticity, the "freedom" of social media, the struggle of being a POC band, and existence as resistance. If you're down with a crash course in Justice 101, this episode is for you. And if you're not down with that... Degeneration-oX has two words for ya. Check out these dudes on all the socials @oxymorrons, and give their new EP, Mohawks & Durags, like 800 more spins! This week, we're scratching The Itch to be outnumbered! We're kicking off the new year and the new season with our first ever interview... with an entire band. Oxymorrons are a four-piece alternative band from Queens, and they bring as much energy to a conversation as they do to the stage. Tune in for an incredibly fun conversation that includes anime, nicknames, guilt trips, Chuck Berry, a $9 orange juice, and a pizza that looked like Texas... and this is just part one! Pull up... keep up if you can! Check out these dudes on all the socials @oxymorrons, and give their new EP, Mohawks & Durags, like 800 spins! When you think about Alternative music Oxymorrons undoubtedly come to mind. The New York-based boundary-pushers have made a name for themselves in the spirit of change - building a movement from years of being told they were too rock for hip-hop, too hip-hop for rock. They boldly committed to creating music that defies arbitrary rules of classification, cementing the band as early pioneers of the modern genre-blending revolution and receiving co-signs from Billboard, The Fader, Complex, VIBE, Hypebeast, Highsnobiety, Ebro Darden's Beats 1. As the newest addition to Jason Aalon Butler's (Fever 333) Artist Collective ‘333 Wreckords Crew', Oxymorrons expanded their sound with their first releases under the collective, “Justice" and “GREEN VISION”. they're finally getting the recognition they deserve in the Alt-Scene with support from Kerrang!, Revolver, Discover Mag, Hot Topic and BBC1's Jack Sanders & Daniel Carter. Although 2020 was the year of the pandemic Oxymorrons solidified their base, finished a EP, Booked Two US TOURS and are in prime position to bring the noise in 2022. Oxymorrons will be playing Welcome to Rockville in May 2022! This week we're scratching The Itch to finally give Limp Bizkit the episode they deserve! After returning at this year's Lollapalooza (discussed in episode 61), Fred Durst and the gang surprise dropped their first new album in a decade on October 31. But with a new generation of rap rockers rising to prominence, including Hyro the Hero, Oxymorrons, Zero 9:36, and even country rapper Jelly Roll, how do the nu metal dads vibe with today's sounds and sensibilities? Together with American Songwriter and Sean Ulbs of The Eiffels, we had the pleasure of interviewing Oxymorrons over Zoom video! When you think about Alternative music Oxymorrons undoubtedly come to mind. The New York-based boundary-pushers have made a name for themselves in the spirit of change - building a movement from years of being told they were too rock for hip-hop, too hip-hop for rock. They boldly committed to creating music that defies arbitrary rules of classification, cementing the band as early pioneers of the modern genre-blending revolution and receiving co-signs from Billboard, The Fader, Complex, VIBE, Hypebeast, Highsnobiety, Ebro Darden's Beats 1.As the newest addition to Jason Aalon Butler's (Fever 333) Artist Collective ‘333 Wreckords Crew’, Oxymorrons expanded their sound with their first release under the collective, “Justice". With the recent signing to 333 Wreckords and release of “Justice”, they’re finally getting the recognition they deserve in the Alt-Scene with support from Kerrang!, Revolver, Discover Mag, Hot Topic and BBC1's Daniel Carter.Although 2020 was the year of the pandemic Oxymorrons solidified their base, finished a new album and are in prime position to bring the noise in 2021.Oxymorrons set the tone for 2021 with their single "Green Vision" - a blended hip-hop x hard-rock vibe that makes you want to hit the mosh pit and the dance floor. We want to hear from you! Musician Dave Bellevue joins us to talk about his journey struggling with mental health and anxiety after losing his best friend to suicide. Drawing from his own experience Dave became a story teller for The JED Foundation, a nonprofit that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for our nation’s teens and young adults. Then Dave saw a need for more mental health resources in the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) community, so he founded a mental health organization called Swag for Stigma earlier this year. Swag for Stigma's mission is to share relevant BIPOC statistical data, resource information on where to get help, and access to identify therapists who are also BIPOC. Their ultimate goal is to launch the “It Takes a Village” initiative to donate cost-covered therapy sessions and support for under served communities. As we all know, it does take a village! Thanks, Dave! You can find more information at www.swagforstigma.org. or @SwagforStigma on InstagramAlso be sure to check out Dave's band, Oxymorrons (with 2 "R"s) on YouTube.WARNING: EXPLICIT LANGUAGEAnd hey, and if you are on Facebook, we invite you to join our Facebook group "Regular People Talking About Mental Health". Dave "Deee" Bellevue is a vocalist for the "alternative/hip-hop" group Oxymorrons. As a musician, Dave has toured and/or performed alongside the likes of Gym Class Heroes, Bruno Mars and Fishbone. In this episode of Detox, Dave discusses bending genres and making music that is sometimes thought of as atypical for Black people to make. He also discusses his work as a mental health advocate and activist, his life as someone who emigrated to America from Haiti, his occasional bouts with "impostor syndrome" and how he's dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. There is also about ten minutes of bonus content after the episode is complete. This episode was recorded before the recent uprisings in the U.S. due to continued mistreatment of Black people (largely by law enforcement) and at the end of the episode, there are various charities listed that are sympathetic to the cause
