Caleb Shomo is one of the most dynamic front persons you will see live. The Beartooth vocalist brings pure energy and doesn't stop moving for the entire set. In this podcast, he discusses the sold out shows on his current tour, how he has stepped from his own shadow into the spotlight and why he loves it. In addition, he talks about working with Country Rock superstar HARDY on the song and video The Better Me...and yes Caleb actually knows how to play golf well. LA Lloyd is very happy for Beartooth getting their first NUMBER ONE song on the Rock 30 called Might Love Myself.
Beartooth's Caleb Shomo talks about the band's huge new hit "Might Love Myself", hanging out with Rob Trujillo and his love of Metallica. Caleb from Beartooth talks about working with HARDY - the first ever official album collab, and why he is the sole musician that creates for Beartooth. Caleb talks about Mental Health and anxiety, and how creating Beartooth has been the start of his therapy, and how can be therapeutic for Beartooth fans. Beartooth talks about the importance of talking about your mental health, taking care of yourself and self-discipline. #beartooth
By the time 2024 is over there's a real good chance that Beartooth will be the biggest rock band of the year. Their new album The Surface is incredible and it features their first ever number-one rock song "Might Love Myself" and a song that features country music's biggest star of 2023 Hardy called "The Better Me." Their current headline tour is almost completely sold out and they are putting on the best show of their lives. I first met Caleb Shomo backstage at the music festival Rock on the Range (now called Sonic Temple) in his hometown of Columbus, OH and to see his rise to greatness brings me great joy. Now it's time to dig further in and get in introspective look at Beartooth.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Can't Swim Zoom video! One of New Jersey's prodigal sons once mused “who says you can't go home?” – but CAN'T SWIM have never really left their Garden State surroundings.Sure, they've certainly logged tens of thousands of miles over the past seven years, bringing their cathartic blend of rock, punk, and emo to audiences around the world on bills with A Day To Remember and Senses Fail and at festivals like 2000trees. But at their core, Can't Swim are innately Jersey through and through: from the ghosts of Tri-State hardcore giants that oscillate through their high-octane sound to the very garages and studios where those songs take shape. Now, the band plant their Garden State flag even deeper on their fourth LP, Thanks But No Thanks, an album that quite literally finds them going back to their roots. After wrapping another slate of hard touring for 2021's Change Of Plans, the group – vocalist Chris LoPorto, bassist Greg McDevitt, guitarist Danny Rico and drummer (and honorary Jersian) Blake Gamel – decamped to the Shore, insulating themselves in the comforts of home while working to hone in on the most elemental components of the Can't Swim sound.Joy has rarely been a word associated with Can't Swim – awash in tempestuous lyricism and muscular energy since breaking into the underground with 2016's Death Deserves A Name EP – but there's a self-referential wryness to LoPorto's lyrics on Thanks But No Thanks that winks its way through the album's 10 songs, along with a finely tuned melodic edge that balances out the band's more brooding nature. With guitarist Rico overseeing production, mixing, and mastering (a position he held on 2017's debut LP Fail You Again and 2018's This Too Won't Pass), first single “me vs. me vs. all y'all” is Can't Swim's most fully realized pop song to date, name-checking The Cure, The Lemonheads and Eddie Vedder, while the album-opening “Nowhere, Ohio” offers a playful tribute to the Alkaline Trio classic “Radio” in between stabs of downtuned guitars. But don't conflate fun with frivolity. The same emotional heft that's made Can't Swim a cult favorite in the scene – and earned them musical co-signs from the likes of Taking Back Sunday's Adam Lazzara and Beartooth's Caleb Shomo – is front and center on Thanks But No Thanks, from the sorrowful summer 2022 single “I heard they found you face down inside your living room,” mourning the death a close friend, to the classic punk rallying cry “ELIMINATE,” which tackles the gun violence epidemic with a strength-in-numbers call to arms.In this way, the evolution of Can't Swim as a band is really evident: What once were presented as insurmountable obstacles on previous albums are now framed as hard-but-necessary lessons that need confronting in to move forward and grow, calling upon new levels of resolve and strength to dull down life's demons. Through it all, the band have been able to truly block out the noise and let their conscience resonate loudest of all.Four records in, it feels like Can't Swim are just now hitting their stride. They've stretched their wings over nearly a decade, dabbling in everything from frantic hardcore (2019's Foreign Language EP) to ethereal indie (2020's Someone Who Isn't Me EP), yet have once again found their way back to their musical home. The next few years will take them far away from their own beds as these songs reach audiences around the world – but that's a sacrifice the band is willing to make because of how much these connections truly mean.We want to hear from you! Rock upstarts The Used have always approached life and music with a youthful exuberance that has translated to their massive fan base and seen their brand of music endure over nine albums since their inception in 2000.Following the release of Heartwork Deluxe last year, which featured collaborations with artists such as Travis Barker, Jason Aalon Butler and Caleb Shomo, The Used are now ready to release more new music, coming at you dripping with attitude in the shape of new single Fuck You.It is as much a statement of intent as it is a throwaway remark for The Used, but to find out the deeper meaning behind the track HEAVY tracked down frontman Bert McCracken for clarification.Needless to say we got none."It's basically a love letter to all of our fans from the heart," he said of the song, struggling to hold back the laughter. "There's a little bit of a fuck you inside of that, and I think it's good to release the demons, especially after the horrific time we had during the pandemic. It's cathartic to say it out loud."The film clip is another work of magic, featuring live footage, babies and the traditional bird, with McCracken explaining it is kind of a homage to the bands early work."Our very first video ever was for A Box Full Of Sharp Objects which had live video footage of us hanging out and playing live and we wanted to recreate that. I think it's a really awesome thing to see a band backstage having fun with each other and hanging out. It's a side you don't get to see."In the full interview, Bert talks about the warning that comes with the music video, the intended audience Fuck You is aimed at, new music, the deluxe version of Heartwork, why bands put out deluxe editions of albums, the collaborations on the album and which one he enjoyed most, playing the recent When We Were Young Festival, possible Australian tour dates and more.

Caleb Shomo gives an in-depth interview with LA Lloyd discussing the band's past, present and the future of Beartooth. Beartooth's album Below has already had a great run with their top-20 song The Past Is Dead. Caleb says this song was written prior to the Pandemic. However, when you listen to the track, it seems the band was able to predict what the future would look like based on the lyrics. The follow-up single to The Past Is Dead is called Skin. Caleb says the song is a "super-personal song and definitely one of my favorites on the record." Enjoy and feel free to give your comments to feedback@rock30.com.

Beartooth invented COVID. Every member of A Day to Remember has a Story of the Year tattoo. Keep jam jars where they belong. Past Kevin is way cooler than now Kevin. If you think Home Alone 3 is the best one, you're a fucking psycho. Get out. The Matrix was a documentary. All positive things henceforth are fake. Past Kevin hates Lost Prophets jokes. Ohio based rock outfit Beartooth returned with their awesome new album Below in late June, further enhancing their growing reputation as a band capable of uniting rock and metal sensibilities with their eclectic brand of music that is as heavy in parts as it is perfect in others.Spurning the hit singles Devastation, The Past Is Dead, Fed Up and Skin, vocalist Caleb Shomo again manages to fuel his inner angst and release it in a uniquely unnerving fashion that belies his personal turmoil.Bass player Ochie Bichar recorded his answers posed by HEAVY's Jimmy Glinster, with Jimmy first pointing out the maturity in sound and production displayed on Below."As you may or may not know Caleb writes and records almost everything himself,"Bichar answered, "so the maturity that comes with experience is probably what you're hearing on the newest record. He had no outside co-writers on this record, and he pretty much did everything himself at his house. I think he matures as a producer and songwriter with every album that we release, so it's just kind of a natural progression."In the full interview, Ochie talks about mixing pop elements with heavy undertones to create Beartooth's sound, influences on their sound, the songwriting process, touring and a touch of gossip...

Welcome back!!! Today we take a deep dive on one of our favourite bands: Beartooth. We talk through each album, discuss the character that is Caleb Shomo and of course pair it with the "Bad Listener" cocktail. Cocktail:
Caleb Shomo of Beartooth checks in for a conversation with the clown that touches on the musicians’ shared love of AC/DC, the collective culture of Japan, and gratification of making music the good old fashioned way.
An article surfaces of a potential Attack Attack reunion and James gives us his hot takes. We talk about Johnny Franck's new project Bilmuri, and Caleb Shomo's band Beartooth. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/coffeeandshugar/support

Three different forms of s'mores in one week is probably too many, but I'm still alive and doing the podcast. I stopped eating s'mores flavored things long enough to talk about the different kinds of s'mores I had this week, The Santa Clause with Tim Allen, and I take some more listener suggestions. New episodes come out every Monday! Hopefully, you all can find some new music to check out and some unique artists to support. If you like any of the music you hear in this podcast, I highly urge you to support those artists by streaming their music, purchasing albums/merch, follow them on social media or whatever else you can do. This week's artists discussed: Boys Night Out, Fall Out Boy, Lil Peep, Alvvays, BADBADNOTGOOD, MF DOOM, Ghostface Killah, Drake, 2 Chainz, Big Sean, Chance the Rapper, Bilmuri, Caleb Shomo, Beartooth, Attack Attack!, and Saosin. Beartooth mastermind Caleb Shomo takes the Disc Dive into his discography — Attack Attack!, Class, Beartooth, no stone left unturned.
We're going old-school this week as we head back into the past and revisit our punk roots with a bit of deep dive into two of the most highly influential bands of the 80s and 90s - and who just so happen to still be around making music today - with Green Day and Bad Religion! Both bands are west-coast punk staples and have gone on to be highly successful and even break through to the mainstream, so it's going to be a fun experience finally taking the time to absorb their music. We hope you enjoy this (second-hand) history lesson as told through our lens! And stay tuned to the very end of the episode in which we throw in an extra after-episode chat that was too fun to not leave in the show. Also discussed, Caleb Shomo spoke with Blabbermouth about plans and the musical direction of the next Beartooth album; Adam rediscovers an album he never listened to from one of his favorite bands from the 90s, Live; and Mike continues his deep dive into The Doors with 'Morrison Hotel'. #GreenDay #BadReligion #Beartooth #TheDoors #Live --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theskinnywithmikeandadam/support
FOREVERLEARNING is one of my core values and one of the things I love pursuing is wisdom and insight from experts in a wide variety of industries and careers that can be translated into my work with athletes. Consistent with that pursuit I’m doing some interviews around the topic of handling pressure I call THE VOICE OF THE PRESSURE PERFORMER.Today we’ll dip into the world of music with my second guest for this new series, lead singer and creator of all of the Beartooth music and my youngest son, CALEB SHOMO. Caleb began his music career by joining a small local band in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 14 before being asked to become part of the biggest local band in central Ohio at the time, Attack Attack. While still 15, Caleb and Attack Attack were signed to a bigtime record label and began touring full-time. Caleb was literally on the road 45 out of his first 52 weeks after starting the full-time touring life. His run with Attack Attack lasted 5 years and included several successful albums and big performances all over the world. In 2013, Caleb launched a new band named Beartooth, and since that time Beartooth has achieved amazing success with massive crowds and a deeply devoted fanbase. Caleb writes all the songs, sings all the vocals, and plays all the instruments on all the album recordings. During live performances, Caleb is Beartooth's frontman and lead vocalists while turning the instrumental performance parts over to a group of very talented musicians. Beartooth has performed all over the world to sold-out venues including giant festival performances in front of crowds as large as 30,000-40,000 in both Europe and the United States. Caleb has learned a lot over the years about performing in pressure situations and navigating the challenges that come with the spotlight in front of giant crowds, and his insights can be valuable to athletes who are hungry to improve their own pressure performances as well. It is a huge honor to have Caleb as my guest on this series called THE VOICE OF THE PRESSURE PERFORMER.If you'd like one-on-one coaching to grow your Mental Skills and build mental strength for turning Adversity into an Advantage, or are interested in discussing how I might bring value to your team, reach out to me through any of the following:Email: phil@philshomo.comPodcast: philshomo.com/podcastWeb: philshomocoaching.comInstagram: @philshomocoachingYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-svmY7Uj8XKIvGe9_mV6Fg

What would you do for the person who literally saved your life? Especially if that person didn't know it or physically help in any way? Well, you do your absolute best to talk about the good in them and how they helped you through that rough patch, then dedicate your life to supporting each and everything they do moving forward. To some it may seem like a big ask, but when the person in question is Beartooth frontman Caleb Shomo, there's no limits to the level of gratitude Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall host Browny has for the metalcore frontman, so he's put together this Special Episode of the podcast as a way to return the favour and introduce you to a man and band that could potentially save you too. Beartooth was conceived during Shomo's own deep, dark struggles where he battled his own demons for the majority of his teenage years and turned to heavy music as a therapeutic way to release his built up tension, anger and frustration. What started as a project for himself, quickly turned into the wrecking ball force of nature it is now where we're seeing the band grow rapidly and gain popularity across the world at an increasing rate. In July, we'll finally get to see the band playing their very first headline shows across Australia and you better believe we grilled the man and legend about what fans can expect as well as a look into the band's past and future. Also, we go way back through the band's early years with a dedicated episode featuring how they came to be what they are now, where Caleb, Kamron and Oshie first met (and how they consequently joined the band) + a few surprises along the way... #WoSUATW #Beartooth #CalebShomo #AttackAttack #CityLights #KamronBradbury #OshieBichar #ConnorDenis #ZachHuston #TaylorLumley #BrandonMullins #NickReed #CityLights #Metalcore #MelodicHardcore #HardcorePunk #PopPunk #SickEP #Disgusting #Aggressive #Disease #Podcast #MusicPodcast #Interview #WallOfSoundAU

On Fresh is the Word, we like to deliver wisdom through great stories from the minds of bright creatives of pop culture. Through those stories, we like to dissect the journey of our guests and present actionable lessons and advice for our listeners no matter what career or avenue of artistry they pursue. This episode’s guest is Jayden Panesso, frontman of the Queens, New York-based metalcore band Sylar. The band just released their third album, Seasons, on October 5th and are currently on tour with Beartooth and Knocked Loose. During our chat, we talked about touring with Insane Clown Posse and Attila, the mindstate of touring, how playing the songs live goes into the making of the music, progression of the band, the new album, using music to overcome fears, being a family man, their connection to their fans, their metal influences, his hip-hop influences, and how growing up in Queens molded him. Each episode, the guest is asked to suggest someone from their life/career that should be on Fresh is the Word that would have good stories to tell. Panesso chose Caleb Shomo, the lead vocalist of hardcore band Beartooth. Ectomorph (now officially comprised of BMG & Erika) recorded this whole album as is, with only one or two takes in their own studio. There was no editing at all! They wanted to capture the mood of their live performances and Stalker is even more haunting than its name. Ectomorph made one of the most dark, yet lively albums of the year. While it embraces this murky sound, it’s one of the most unique electronic music releases I’ve heard in a while. This is what techno sounds like on Halloween in Detroit. Caleb Shomo of Beartooth called in to talk about the new album "Disease" (out now) and their tour stop at the House of Blues of Anaheim on Halloween night. Here's what we talked about: "Disease" album, mental health (0-2) 80's influence on new album (2-3) Halloween concerts (3-5) Jason Vorhees vs. Freddy Krueger vs. Michael Myers (5-6) Flannel 5-Nirvana, Pearl Jam, STP, Soundgarden, AIC (6-7) Nu Metal 6 Pack-RATM, Korn, Linkin Park, Slipknot, Disturbed, SOAD (7-9)
"First off, I'm just really proud of the music on this record because it's all real," enthused Beartooth frontman and general orchestrator Caleb Shomo on the bands' upcoming release 'Disease'. "In general with modern production, there's a lot more editing that goes into specific things like the drums and guitars.
