In the 843rd episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway and Kyna England are joined at Level 9 Studio by Joey Ingram, who served as special co-host to talk about the latest happenings at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) as well as his new partnership with GTO Wizard. The biggest story is that of Scott Seiver, who captured his third bracelet of the summer and became just the seventh player in history to win three bracelets in the same year. Could he make history by becoming the only player to win four? He has two more weeks to do it. Despite winning three bracelets, you might be surprised to learn that Seiver is far from a lock to win the 2024 WSOP Player of the Year; in fact, Jeremy Ausmus, who hasn't won a bracelet this summer, isn't too far behind in points thanks to a bevy of final table appearances. Would a non-bracelet winner winning POY over a three-time winner cause a controversy? The crew discusses that very possibility. Chad then shares pictures and videos from the exclusive Global Poker party that took place at PokerGO Studio on Sunday night, while Ingram opens up about all things GTO Wizard. As usual, you'll also get your dose of other WSOP bracelet winners and a $25K Fantasy update. Oh, and did we mention talk about Daniel Negreanu, Nick Schulman, and Phil Ivey? Because that's all in there too. A new PokerNews Podcast will drop twice weekly during the 2024 WSOP every Tuesday and Friday at 8a PT / 11a ET / 4p UK time. Jeremy Ausmus went into the final table of the 2012 World Series of Poker main event as the shortest stack, but managed to navigate his way to fifth-place finish worth $2.15 million. The Colorado-native may have been a relative unknown to the home audience at the time, but he had already spent years establishing himself as a respected cash game pro in Las Vegas. In the time since, the husband and father of two has split time between his usual daily cash game grind at Bellagio and the occasional tournament. Ausmus has also notched a few wins at the Venetian, and even has a WSOP bracelet, taking down a pot-limit Omaha event in Europe back in 2013. In total, the 38-year-old has amassed more than $5.15 million in live tournament earnings. Highlights from this interview include residual hair product, the flat part of Colorado, being an outdoor-indoor kid, paying bills by building cabinets, an affinity for spreadsheets, putting down roots in Vegas, having six-figures locked up online, getting annihilated in fantasy football bets, learning ICM in the NICU, being a slow deep thinker, a generous Greg Merson freeroll, why list manipulation is bad for poker, Phil Ivey's Punchout, and the greatness of a BJ burger.

My guest today on The Mental Game of Poker Podcast is Jeremy Ausmus. Jeremy first came to our attention in 2012 when he made the October Nine and came in 5th for over $2 million. He since had a number of near misses in high profile events but finally took down his first bracelet last month in Paris at the WSOPE. Jeremy has been a professional for nine years, and he is just about one of the most balanced and professional players you are likely to encounter. He really is the blueprint for having a solid mental game. In the show we discuss: • Why a slow and steady approach to learning has proven to be very successful in the long term for him. • Why he is always reanalyzing his game and never wants to think he ‘knows it all'. • How he values a strong mental game, and why he would always take a player with a solid C-game over a player who has an amazing A-game but prone to mental game leaks. • How he works on his game away from the table and why not wanting to get caught out in tricky spots motivates him to learn. • The mental adjustments he makes when switching between tournaments and cash games. • How he dealt with the pressure of the Main Event final table. Just a quick reminder, you can now get The Mental Game of Poker 1 and 2 for free either on audiobook or using PokerStars Frequent Player Points. Go to Jaredtendlerpoker.com for more information. Also keep an eye out for a one-time-only sale from November 29th - December 1st on the softcover versions of both books. Get both books for the price of one.
