(The full Dish returns on September 4. In the meantime, we are re-airing a handful of the most downloaded episodes from the early years of the Dishcast.)Charles is a writer, social scientist, and longtime friend. He currently holds the F.A. Hayek Chair Emeritus in Cultural Studies at AIE, and his many books include Losing Ground, The Bell Curve (co-authored with Richard Herrnstein), Coming Apart, Facing Reality, and Taking Religion Seriously (which we covered last year). In this May 2021 pod, he and I discussed Human Diversity — a book that received little attention compared to the others. If you think you know who Charles is from the way the MSM has portrayed him for years, this conversation may surprise you.Like Cornel West, Charles is a one-off: absurdly brave (or dumb) in wading into truly touchy subjects, and always with reason. In many ways, I think if we'd been able to have a serious debate about The Bell Curve all those years ago — and I tried to encourage one — we might have avoided some awful subsequent mistakes. But we resorted to abuse and hysteria and went on to enact Woke 1.0 and, now, Woke 2.0.Go here for a polished transcript of Charles. We also have three clips on YouTube: on the different career choices of high IQ women; the “unearned gift” of a high IQ; and IQ's irrelevance to the human worth, dignity, and essential equality of all people. Bill and Caleb trace the pattern across the Sahel before tackling the bigger debate over whether Al Qaeda is dead or everywhere, and why our visibility into the network may be at an all-time low.

Santana's claim that Caballero's tactics were unnecessary in a three-run game gets ripped as ridiculous, while Caballero earns praise for embracing the villain role and giving the Yankees an edge they have lacked. The debate also strengthens the case for playing Caballero over Anthony Volpe. Plus, Freddy Peralta's Mets struggles raise fears that he will rediscover his form after a trade, and the Jets' defensive talent, new whiteout uniforms and far-fetched AFC Championship hopes come under the microscope.

Charles Murray is a Harvard and MIT-trained policy analyst and the author of Taking Religion Seriously. He joins me to explore why many educated people never seriously consider God—not because they've disproven the supernatural, but because they've quietly learned to dismiss it. Charles describes his journey from “happy agnostic” to “Christian,” wrestling with questions like “Why is there something rather than nothing?” and “Why does consciousness seem to reach beyond the brain?” This isn't the story of an aggressive atheist changing his mind. It's about the subtle assumptions that shape what we think is reasonable and what we hesitate to question. This interview first aired on Sean's YouTube channel. You can watch the video here.Charles Murray is a policy analyst educated at Harvard and M.I.T. He first came to national attention in 1984 with the publication Losing Ground, which changed the national conversation about the War on Poverty and its aftermath. In 1994, the best-selling The Bell Curve, coauthored with Richard Herrnstein, argued that the increasing role of intelligence over the twentieth century was transforming America's social structure. In 2012, Coming Apart documented the growing divide between a new lower class and a new upper class that foreshadowed the political polarization of the 2016 election. His other books include In Pursuit (1988), Human Accomplishment (2003), Human Diversity (2020), and Facing Reality (2021). He is currently the Hayek Emeritus Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute.==========Think Biblically: Conversations on Faith and Culture is a podcast from Talbot School of Theology at Biola University, which offers degrees both online and on campus in Southern California.   Find all episodes of Think Biblically at: https://www.biola.edu/think-biblically.   To submit comments, ask questions, or make suggestions on issues you'd like us to cover or guests you'd like us to have on the podcast, email us at thinkbiblically@biola.edu.

A controversial Colorado gun bill collapses, raising questions about policy, power, and motivation. Are these laws about safety… or something more personal? In a world full of noise, one question remains: what's real—and what are you being led to believe?

We talk about the common ways parents sabotage themselves in custody battles, why overexplaining and reacting emotionally backfires, and what courts actually care about versus what clients think matters. We also dig into why labels like “narcissist” rarely help, how communication mistakes resurface later, and what “controlling the narrative” truly means in practice. If you're navigating a high-conflict ex, legal threats, or long custody battles, this episode will help you shift from reactive behavior to strategic decision-making. Because in family court, winning isn't loud. It's disciplined. And sometimes, the smartest move is saying less. Political scientist Charles Murray has written many well-known books over the course of his lifetime. Many of his works—including “Losing Ground,” “The Bell Curve,” and “Coming Apart”—have deeply influenced the intellectual discourse and zeitgeist of our times and provoked heated debate about the roots of major social problems in America. His latest book covers a topic that he has never covered deeply before: religion.Murray writes in the foreword of his book “Taking Religion Seriously,” “Millions are like me when it comes to religion: well-educated and successful people for whom religion has been irrelevant. We grew up in secular households or drifted away from the faiths in which we were raised and never looked back. For them, I think I have a story worth telling.”In our conversation, he recounts how he slowly came to question his assumption that there was nothing in religion for him.He began to grapple with questions such as: How did life come to be? Why is there something rather than nothing? What happens to purely secular societies? What happens to art that no longer acknowledges beauty, truth, and the good?He said: “I finished the book by comparing myself to a kid whose nose is pressed against the glass watching a party that's going on inside that he can't join. I have had the good fortune to meet a number of people who have had a very full, rich spiritual experience. ... I look at the kind of people they are, and I say to myself: I want more of that.”Views expressed in this video are opinions of the host and the guest, and do not necessarily reflect the views of The Epoch Times.

Lululemon (LULU) is "no longer the cool kid on the block," says Megan Brantley. Likefolio's data in the retail space shows how interest in Lululemon slowed significantly compared to competitors like Hollister, Alo Yoga and Rhone. The earnings bar is low for the stock but Megan worries that the bar can fall even lower. If she were the CEO, Megan says she would work to improve brand perception and recover Lululemon's "cool factor."======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. While D.C. residents are enjoying feeling safe on the streets of their community once again, angry middle class suburban protesters want the National Guard to leave the crime ridden city. When Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth visited the National Guard troops at Union Station this week, protesters used their First Amendment rights to demand things go back to the status quo in the nation's Capital.    On this week's edition of Problematic Women, we discuss the radical left's bizarre campaign against the Trump administration's efforts to improve safety in Washington's D.C.    Also on today's show, President Donald Trump is working to secure a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia, which might explain why Trump has not made many public appearances since his meeting with European leaders on Monday - he's business negotiating a peace plan.     And Daily Caller White House Correspondent Reagan Reese joins the show to give us an inside look into Air Force One and the press briefing room of the White House.    Plus, the Travis Kelce photoshoot is … well, we'll let you decide.
