The implications of us defeat in Afghanistan are immense. We are on the verge of witnessing events rapidly unfolding over the next few weeks and months which are enormously important for not just Muslims but all the oppressed people of the world. The Afghans have written a whole new script, showing the lands of Islam, as well as the Global South, how to defeat the self-referential, seemingly invincible US/NATO empire. The Afghans did it with Islamic faith, patience and force of will with minimal formal military training, no backing of any state – unlike Vietnam, which had China and the USSR – no hundreds of billions of dollars from NATO, no trained army, no air force and no state-of-the-art technology. Undoubtedly, the humiliating withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan also reveals the fragile power of the US in the world today which implies that the US is on the brink of severe decline.

Fasting in the holy month of Ramadaan is one of the foremost of the five pillars of Islaam, as well as being among the greatest of the symbols of Islaam. Fasting has many purposes relating both to the Lordship of Allaah and thanksgiving for His bounties, and to man's individual and collective life, as well as to his self-training and self-discipline. Nothing empowers a community more than the development of the moral character of its members.

'Hayaa’ is a word which describes both shyness and a deeper modesty that is based on ‘iimaan (faith). Hayaa’ therefore influences a Muslim’s conduct before Allaah, before others and even when one is alone. Hayaa’ makes a person more careful, self-aware, and self-controlled and ultimately results in paying Allaah & His creation the respect that is their due. It is no coincidence that the words ‘Hayaa’ (modesty) and ‘hayaat’ (life) come from the same Arabic root. This signifies that modesty is a sign of a truly ‘living’ heart, and that a heart's vibrancy depends on its owner's belief & knowledge of Allaah
