We recently wrapped up the story of Arkeene Broaden a young man who says he is innocent of the crime he's been convicted of but what does an expert think? As always it's time to catch up with the man they call 'The Voice of Reason' Mr Michael Leonard of Leonard trial lawyers in Chicargo Ilanois.________________________________________________________At 18 years old, Wayne County charged Arkeene and his 16-year-old friend, Cody Clark, with felony murder, robbery, conspiracy, and felony firearm in connection with the June 2015 shooting death of their close friend, Martez Johnson, at a house on Heyden Street around 10:00 PM.Authorities alleged that Arkeene drove Cody and Martez to meet Andre Thomas with the intent to rob Martez. They claimed that once they arrived, Cody and Martez went inside while Arkeene stayed in the car. Inside the house, Cody allegedly shot Martez in the head when Martez tried to escape.Arkeene demanded a trial, but after the jury was selected, his attorney passed away. The next attorney pushed him to accept a plea deal. Initially, the offer was for 18 years, then reduced to 14 years. Despite Arkeene repeatedly insisting on going to trial because of his innocence, the attorney continued pressuring him. Eventually, the plea offer was reduced to 8 years, plus an additional 2 years for the gun charge. The attorney warned that if Arkeene did not take the deal, he would face life in prison.Young, afraid, and unfamiliar with the legal system, Arkeene ultimately accepted the plea deal to avoid the possibility of a life sentence. He now believes that if he had been aware of all the evidence, he would have rejected the plea and insisted on going to trial.Later, Arkeene's family hired Professional Investigator Steve Crane from ACS Professional Investigations to conduct a proper investigation into the case. This is what they found. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Ahsoka and the Martez sisters failed at smuggling spice, and are imprisoned on Oba Diah. They argue, someone calls Ahsoka a Jedi, and Ahsoka responds with 'so what if I were?': the sisters react in horror. See: the Martezes' parents were killed in a mishap during Ziro the Hutt's prison break, when the elder Martezes came up on the wrong side of Bariss Offee's solution to the trolley problem. The Jedi did helpfully explain that the Force would guide the new orphans, before bouncing. The Pykes attempt some kid-friendly torture on Trace, but she steals a gun and flees. Ahsoka secretly uses the force to open her cell, and the escape is on! A running gunfight ensues, with the Martez sisters shooting and Ahsoka slyly using Force powers to assist.Ahsoka and Rafa take a moment to discuss whether Trace is cut out for a life of crime. Trace and Rafa are re-captured while Ahsoka flees. Three Mandalorians, with familiar voices depending on which shows that aired before this that you've seen observe, and suggest that Ahsoka might be a Jedi.Ahsoka attempts to free Trace and Rafa, but they are caught and returned to the same cell they were in at the start of the episode.Back in their cell, Ahsoka wants to hold a retrospective, but Rafa wants to assign blame. Someone isn't abiding by Scrum values! (They're never going to get their PMP certification this way.) Ahsoka comes up with a better plan than Rafa's ‘play sick' scheme.Ahsoka starts lying to the Pyke leader, and Rafa is on the ball enough to run with the premise. Trace and Rafa are sent to get the spice by holding their non-existent family hostage. The Pyke high seneschal is also savvy enough to get that this is a scam, but doesn't have a choice because without the spice he's going to be in big trouble with his boss.Trace and Rafa leave in the Silver Angel, and are creeped on by Bo Katan's Mandalorian peeping squad. At a space Cracker Barrel Rafa explains the scheme to Trace by speaking slowly and using big words. Also some visual aids. A couple puppets. Rafa can't owe anyone anything so she's going to steal spice and save AhsokaAhsoka breaks out of prison, Rafa and Trace find a spice mining operation and Rafa has a hot hand with the fast talk skill. Ahsoka plants bombs all over the spice refining facility. Grand Pyke is getting his ass chewed out by a shadowy holo figure about the missing spice shipment. Hey, it's Maul! Ahsoka is ambushed and outs herself as a Jedi.Back with Trace and Rafa, Rafa finally throws a bad roll and the Trandoshan longshoreman manager calls her bluff. Aggressive negotiations ensue and Trace gets into a slap fight with nerdlingers; that 1D in strength isn't going to get the job done. Rafa apparently specialized in Gymkata and uses her skill on the uneven bars to dump the Trandoshan into a chasm. The sisters escape with the spice and show up in time to save Ahsoka. Not!The Grand Pyke dimes out Ahsoka; Rafa and Trace are stunned and hurt. Ahsoka and Trac and Rafa decide to pass the Bechdel Wallace test. Meanwhile Chekhov's thermal detonators explode and move us right into Act 3.A chase ensues and Trace decides to play the ballsiest game of chicken this side of Footloose. Our heroes escape and are followed by Bo Katan. Rafa says Ahsoka is what a Jedi should be. Bo shows up to ask for help in dealing with Maul, but Ahsoka is fearful it will lead her back to the Jedi. Ahsoka apparently was too busy murdering droids to learn the term bildungsroman.https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

The season may be over for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but Trey Downey and Len Martez are still back with a brand new edition of the Downey and Martez podcast.  The guys begin this week's show by discussing Tampa Bay's embarrassing 31-14 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the wildcard round of the playoffs. The guys try to zero in on what exactly went wrong. Len echoes quarterback Tom Brady's post game comments, while Trey highlights one specific stretch that he thought swung the game in Dallas' favor. Before moving on to the breaking coaching news, the guys discuss Brady's “goodbye” to the Tampa Bay media. This leads to a debate on whether he is truly done in Tampa. And if he is, does that mean his career is over as well? The conversation then pivots to the news that offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich has been fired. Trey & Len talk about whether the Bucs should've made this move during the season and pondered why it wasn't. The fellas then put the spotlight on Todd Bowles and the fact that all signs point to him returning as Buccaneers head coach. Trey and Len agree that they aren't surprised by the move but disagree on whether that was the move Tampa Bay front office should've made. The duo closes the podcast by looking at the NFL divisional playoff round and letting you know if they expect any upsets.  Don't forget to subscribe to Bucs Nation on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, or wherever else you get your podcasts. Trey rewound to Tampa Bay's week one win over the Dallas Cowboys and asks Len if Bucs fans need to hope for a similar game if they are to pull off the upset. The guys then discuss whether Dallas' performance against the Washington Commanders makes them more confident about the Bucs chances. The fellas then move on to the keys of the game. On offense, Len focuses on the running game while Trey says they need explosive plays through the play action passing game. On the defensive side, Trey zeroes in on forcing turnovers while Len says it is all about a certain acronym, PDA.  Before moving on to the rest of the weekend Trey and Len discuss the possibility of center Ryan Jensen playing and debate which team is under more pressure. Lastly on the podcast, the guys look at the rest of the NFL games during wildcard round and tell you which games they think will be the most competitive. It was a long, winding road to get here but the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are NFC South division champions. So Trey Downey and Len Martez are back to discuss the accomplishment on a new edition of Downey and Martez.  Trey praises the Buccaneers performance against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, but Len's take that it was much of the same leads to a heated debate on just what we saw at Raymond James Stadium this past Sunday. Trey focuses on the explosive plays while Len points out that Tampa Bay still struggled mightily in the running game & had to overcome another fourth quarter double digit deficit. The guys then move onto the ramifications from the game and discuss whether head coach Todd Bowles' job is now safe for next year. That conversation took a turn towards South Florida & the two discuss Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel's future in Miami.  Trey then poses the question to Len on who Bucs fans should want to face on wildcard weekend. Len explains why the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are both bad matchups but eventually leans in a certain direction.  The guys close the podcast by both expressing their concern and optimism in regards to Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin's scary incident and subsequent recovery. Week 17 is here and while it is no longer the final week of the regular season it is the most important one for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On a brand new edition of Downey and Martez, Trey Downey and Len Martez look ahead to a game that could decide the season against the Carolina Panthers after reacting to the Bucs overtime win against the Arizona Cardinals on Christmas night. Trey is anything but positive about the win and focuses on how the offense looked abysmal until the closing minutes. Downey thinks the defense plays well for the most part with the offense putting them in bad positions, but Martez focuses on the teams struggles to stop the run.  On the offensive side of the ball, Trey asks Len if he had any answers to the puzzling situation regarding the lack of targets for wide receiver Mike Evans and his drop in production . Because of the success in the closing minutes of the game, Trey wonders if the Bucs should try to go more up-tempo early in games while Len states "We are way past that point." In looking ahead to Sunday's showdown at Raymond James Stadium with the Carolina Panthers, Trey says the Bucs just need to sell out to stop the run and force Panthers quarterback Sam Darnold to beat them. Len points out that even if the Bucs sell out to stop the run it isn't a guarantee that they will win considering what happened in week seven in Charlotte. As far as what will happen on Sunday, Len is done making win-loss predictions with this team while Trey's take is absolutely no result will shock him.  Don't forget to subscribe to Bucs Nation on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, or wherever else you get your podcasts. The holiday season is upon us and Santa has brought you a brand new edition of Downey and Martez. This week the guys look back at the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and ahead to a Christmas night showdown with the Arizona Cardinals. In regards to that first half, the guys discuss what went right for Tampa Bay. After getting the positives out of the way, the guys move on to the final 30 minutes of the game. We have reached week 15 in the NFL and it is time for another new edition of Downey and Martez. After discussing a thrilling win last week, Trey Downey and Len Martez are left discussing an embarrassing loss to the San Francisco 49ers that dropped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to 6-7. Even though Len told Trey he didn't think the Bucs had a chance to win last week, Trey starts the podcast by asking Len if he thought it would be that bad. The guys then move on to discussing the nugget that dropped that quarterback Tom Brady holds meetings with the skill players on Saturday nights where he tweaks the game-plan. Trey focuses on the weirdest part being that these tweaks aren't cleared with the coaching staff and that Head Coach Todd Bowles and offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich find out about them on gameday.  The guys then turn their discussion to the coaching staff and have a disagreement in terms of what will save their jobs and have them back with the team next year. With the loss, the guys had to tackle the fact that the division title isn't a sure thing and discuss whether the Carolina Panthers or the Atlanta Falcons are a bigger threat right now. Len focuses on one thing, unimaginative play-calling. Trey then asks Len about offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich's lackluster response to questions about fixing the offense. Trey also asks Len how much of left tackle Donovan Smith's struggles can be pinned on who has played next to him this year. While Trey says that quarterback Tom Brady turned into “That Dude” in the final minutes, there is one aspect of the future hall of famer's play that is worrying him.  The guys then move on to the upcoming game against the San Francisco 49ers. While Trey points out that it could be a huge game for the Bucs in terms of playoff seeding Len explains why he doesn't think the result will be different than what he expected before the injury to quarterback Jimmy Garroppolo.  The guys close the show by making predictions on who they think will win the Heisman Trophy.  Don't forget to subscribe to Bucs Nation on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, or wherever else you get your podcasts. As the NFL season enters December, Trey Downey and Len Martez are back with another new edition of Downey and Martez. On this week's podcast, the guys look back at the overtime loss to the Cleveland Browns.  That loss finally brings Trey to the realization that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are who Len has been saying they are for the majority of the season, a mediocre football team. In looking back at the loss, Len focuses on the Bucs lack of a running game against a horrible Browns run defense while Trey focuses on the coaching and lack of clock management at the end of the game. While Len says he doesn't necessarily buy Head Coach Todd Bowles' excuse that he was worried about an interception thrown by quarterback Tom Brady, Trey says it might be even worse if it was just a lapse of judgment. The decision and subsequent excuse leaves Trey wondering if Bowles is meant to be a head coach in the NFL.  Trey asks Len whether he thought Bowles could possibly be one and done as the Bucs head coach. The guys agree that one & done is definitely possible should the Bucs miss the playoffs and the guys also agrees that 9-8 is probably the absolute ceiling for this team at this point. Before closing the podcast, Trey asks Len what the keys will be in a Monday Night Football battle against the New Orleans Saints. The guys also discuss the recent report whether or not Brady could be returning to the New England Patriots in 2023 is a real possibility.  Don't forget to subscribe to Bucs Nation on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, or wherever else you get your podcasts. It is time for a special holiday week edition of the Bucs Nation Podcast as Trey Downey and Len Martez look back at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win over Seattle and ahead to their Thanksgiving weekend game against the Cleveland Browns. Trey starts the podcast by asking Len if he's more confident in the Bucs chances in the NFC after their win over the Seahawks and the inconsistency that is being shown by the top teams in the conference. Len agrees that the win in Germany was a step in the right direction but adds that Tampa still needs to prove that they are that team on a regular basis.  The guys then heaps praise on linebacker Devin White after another great game in the midst of difficult circumstances. The conversation then turns into a debate on whether rookie running back Rachaad White has unseated veteran Leonard Fournette as the starting running back on this football team. Before looking ahead to the future the guys examine the Bucs laughable attempt at a trick play from all angles. The guys close the podcast by looking ahead to the game against the Browns and Trey tells you why this game is still a dangerous one and one that is very important for the Bucs status in the NFC moving forward.  Don't forget to subscribe to Bucs Nation on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, or wherever else you get your podcasts. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are back to their winning ways and Trey Downey and Len Martez are back to discuss it all on a new edition of Downey and Martez. Trey begin the podcast by asking Len if we will end up looking at the game-winning drive against the Rams as the one that saved the Bucs season. Len doesn't hop on that positive train. He states it was good that the Bucs won but points out just how bad of a team the Rams are. Trey praises the defensive performances of linebacker Devin White and defensive tackle Vita Vea while Len brings up the sobering reality of how long it has been since Tampa Bay defense has forced a turnover. The talk then turns to the offensive side of the ball and the continued struggles of the running game. The conversation centers around running back Leonard Fournette and Len points out that it is time to start putting some of the blame on Fournette along with the offensive line and play-calling. In response to that Trey asks Len if he thinks we will continue to see more of running back Rachaad White and less of Lenny as the season rolls along. Before continuing on to this weekend's game, Trey heaps praise on rookie tight end Cade Otton and asks if he was the best off-season acquisition that the Bucs made. The podcast moves on to the NFL international series game against the Seattle Seahawks. Trey focuses on the implications of this game in terms of playoff seeding and how much momentum it could bring the Bucs. Len focuses on the fact that the confidence of the Bucs needs to continue to rise and they still have a long way to go before becoming a true playoff threat. The guys close the podcast by discussing the reports that former Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden is on the list of candidates for the recently opened USF Bulls head coaching job. Week 9 is already here in the NFL which means Trey Downey and Len Martez are back with another new edition of Downey & Martez.  The guys unfortunately start the show by discussing the Buccaneers loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football. Before getting to all of the negative from that football game Trey asks Len a simple question. Did the Bucs play better in that game than in their previous two losses to the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers. Once the one item of positive news gets out of the way, the guys move on to a discussion about linebacker Devin White, a player who has been under a microscope. The guys discuss White's rough night, what seemed like a lack of effort and his decision to initially not speak to the media this week. Trey also poses the question to Len on whether White is still one of the best linebackers in the league.  Len then turns to what he perceives as a lack of leadership in the Bucs locker room and Trey brings up a defensive player that he'd like to see step up and be more vocal amidst the struggles. Trey and Len then touch on another rough offensive performance and wonder if it is still blasphemy to think that quarterback Tom Brady has finally crossed into the threshold of being old.  Len then tells you why he thinks we will see a lot of mediocre football against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. The guys close the podcast by discussing Tampa's decision to stand pat at the trade deadline and debate which trade around the league will have the biggest impact on the 2022 season.  Don't forget to subscribe to Bucs Nation on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeart Radio, or wherever else you get your podcasts. After another disheartening loss for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Trey Downey and Len Martez are back to digest what happened this past Sunday in Carolina on a new edition of Downey and Martez.  Trey and Len begin the show with the start of the game and wide receiver Mike Evans dropping what would've been a 64-yard touchdown. The guys discuss how the game could've been different if Evans caught the pass and his post-game comments about how it changed the team's confidence.  Trey then focuses on why he thinks this team could turn things around if the red-zone offense struggles are fixed while Len stated that would be great but the Buccaneers would still have issues because of their run defense. The conversation then turns to coaching and the guys discuss how much this team is missing former head coach Bruce Arians. Trey even poses the question on whether or not there is a scenario where Arians returns to the coaching staff in any kind of official capacity.  That question jumpstarts another topic and whether or not offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich makes it through the season. Trey laments that if the Bucs were to make that move it would have to come in the next few weeks. On this week's show Trey Downey and Len Martez look back at the Buccaneers embarrassing loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and look ahead to a divisional match-up against the Carolina Panthers. Trey start the podcast by listing all of the issues that the Bucs had against the Steelers. Len focus during the the start of the podcast is on the defensive side of the ball and the late 3rd down conversions the Buccaneers defense gave up. Trey agrees that those were concerning, but he presses Len on if he's actually more worried about the Bucs defense right now. The guys get a little more specific on the offensive side of the ball and discuss left guard Luke Goedeke's growing pains, offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich's stubbornness when it comes to running the ball and wide receiver Mike Evans' lack of targets. With all of that negativity out of the way the guys then take a look on the bright side. The Bucs play the 1-5 Panthers on Sunday. The gents looks at the recent fire sale going on in Carolina and discuss if running back Christian McCaffrey trade to San Francisco makes the 49ers a true contender. In discussing the future of the Panthers the guys get into a heated debate on whether or not the currently retired Sean Payton would come out of retirement for their head coaching job. Trey then asks Len what the consequences might be if the Bucs fell to 3-4 on Sunday and were beaten by a team led by quarterback PJ Walker. Week 6 in the NFL is already upon us and that means it is time for your weekly dose of the Downey and Martez podcast. Trey and Len begin this week's show by looking back at the 21-15 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. Trey asks Len if the game ultimately being that close was worrisome. Len explains why the result itself wasn't necessarily worrisome, but the Buccaneers struggles against the run and Devin White's postgame comments raised some eyebrows. Trey then moves on to some positives and praises running back Leonard Fournette's 10-catch performance and just how quickly rookie running back Rachaad White is developing into a more than competent pass blocker. The conversation then shifts to the roughing the passer call on Falcons defensive tackle Grady Jarrett that ended up having a big impact on the game. Trey and Len don't spend too much time debating how egregious the call was because that was obvious. The guys dig into the reaction to the call and the fact that a lot of Bucs fans tried to justify it by pointing out pass interference not being called on Scotty Miller. Trey and Len then shift gears to the action on the field in Week Six. The guys discuss the injuries that both teams are dealing with in the secondary and Trey tells you why he loves a certain bet you can place on the Bucs this weekend. Trey and Len agree that this was the worst performance by the Buccaneers defense in a very long time. The guys dig deeper and talk about the struggles against the run and ponder whether Jason Licht should be giving Ndamukong Suh a call.  After a heated discussion on the last episode about Bucs offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich's play-calling, Trey asks Len about his level of concern after a performance that netted just three rushing yards against the Chiefs. Len gives you an interesting response to why Leftwich has been calling the games the way he has been. After discussing the offensive play-calling, the conversation turns to this Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Trey asks Len how surprised he is that the game is for first place in the NFC South at this point in the season. The guys also discuss two weapons that Tampa Bay fans should be worried about even with the injury to Falcons offensive weapon Cordarelle Patterson.  Trey then explains why he thinks Bucs fans that are concerned about the team's play should be stepping away from the panic button. The guys begin the show by discussing the good, bad, and ugly from the 19-3 win over the Cowboys.  The guys agree that if there was any ugly, it was the fact that Tampa Bay are dealing with more injuries. The gents discuss the injuries to offensive tackle Donovan Smith & three wide receivers, Julio Jones, Mike Evans & Chris Godwin & how the injuries could impact the team moving forward depending on how much time they may miss. From the ugly, Trey & Len discuss the bad which was the offense stalling in Cowboys' territory. The guys save the best for last & that was the good. That part of the conversations begins with the stifling performance of the defense. Trey and Len then agree how impressive Jones looked and how he was used in the offense.. Trey then gives some credit to Len for being right on how many touches running back Leonard Fournette got in week one. After the breaking down week one, the discussion moves to the Bucs week two matchup. Len explains why he expects the Bucs to have a similar, run-heavy game-plan against the Saints, while Trey mentions how the Saints attack the Tampa Bay offense depends on if Evans and Jones are able to suit up in New Orleans.
