Ahsoka and the Martez sisters failed at smuggling spice, and are imprisoned on Oba Diah. They argue, someone calls Ahsoka a Jedi, and Ahsoka responds with 'so what if I were?': the sisters react in horror. See: the Martezes' parents were killed in a mishap during Ziro the Hutt's prison break, when the elder Martezes came up on the wrong side of Bariss Offee's solution to the trolley problem. The Jedi did helpfully explain that the Force would guide the new orphans, before bouncing. The Pykes attempt some kid-friendly torture on Trace, but she steals a gun and flees. Ahsoka secretly uses the force to open her cell, and the escape is on! A running gunfight ensues, with the Martez sisters shooting and Ahsoka slyly using Force powers to assist.Ahsoka and Rafa take a moment to discuss whether Trace is cut out for a life of crime. Trace and Rafa are re-captured while Ahsoka flees. Three Mandalorians, with familiar voices depending on which shows that aired before this that you've seen observe, and suggest that Ahsoka might be a Jedi.Ahsoka attempts to free Trace and Rafa, but they are caught and returned to the same cell they were in at the start of the episode.Back in their cell, Ahsoka wants to hold a retrospective, but Rafa wants to assign blame. Someone isn't abiding by Scrum values! (They're never going to get their PMP certification this way.) Ahsoka comes up with a better plan than Rafa's ‘play sick' scheme.Ahsoka starts lying to the Pyke leader, and Rafa is on the ball enough to run with the premise. Trace and Rafa are sent to get the spice by holding their non-existent family hostage. The Pyke high seneschal is also savvy enough to get that this is a scam, but doesn't have a choice because without the spice he's going to be in big trouble with his boss.Trace and Rafa leave in the Silver Angel, and are creeped on by Bo Katan's Mandalorian peeping squad. At a space Cracker Barrel Rafa explains the scheme to Trace by speaking slowly and using big words. Also some visual aids. A couple puppets. Rafa can't owe anyone anything so she's going to steal spice and save AhsokaAhsoka breaks out of prison, Rafa and Trace find a spice mining operation and Rafa has a hot hand with the fast talk skill. Ahsoka plants bombs all over the spice refining facility. Grand Pyke is getting his ass chewed out by a shadowy holo figure about the missing spice shipment. Hey, it's Maul! Ahsoka is ambushed and outs herself as a Jedi.Back with Trace and Rafa, Rafa finally throws a bad roll and the Trandoshan longshoreman manager calls her bluff. Aggressive negotiations ensue and Trace gets into a slap fight with nerdlingers; that 1D in strength isn't going to get the job done. Rafa apparently specialized in Gymkata and uses her skill on the uneven bars to dump the Trandoshan into a chasm. The sisters escape with the spice and show up in time to save Ahsoka. Not!The Grand Pyke dimes out Ahsoka; Rafa and Trace are stunned and hurt. Ahsoka and Trac and Rafa decide to pass the Bechdel Wallace test. Meanwhile Chekhov's thermal detonators explode and move us right into Act 3.A chase ensues and Trace decides to play the ballsiest game of chicken this side of Footloose. Our heroes escape and are followed by Bo Katan. Rafa says Ahsoka is what a Jedi should be. Bo shows up to ask for help in dealing with Maul, but Ahsoka is fearful it will lead her back to the Jedi. Ahsoka apparently was too busy murdering droids to learn the term bildungsroman.https://twitter.com/ClosingCrawlhttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/closing-crawl/id1530133296https://www.closingcrawl.com/Merch at: https://bit.ly/spacetimetm

Who Will Boba Fett Hire Besides The Mandalorian?

Star Wars Theory

Play Episode Listen Later Jul 1, 2023 7:03

So in the book of Boba Fett we know Boba is about to call upon some muscle. Who could this muscle be? Well, of course he's calling Mando, but besides him, I really hope that he's going to call The Bad Batch. Fennec knows about them, and she could potentially tell Boba about his very special brothers. Why wouldn't he call a bunch of mutant versions of himself who literally have super powers to come and help. Wrecker would singlehandedly wipe out any turrets the pykes have setup, and Hunter would track down the electromagnetic frequencies of diabolical machinery that needs to be located and disabled. Tech and Echo would infinlitrate their communications and learn of their strategy as they prepared everyone for battle, while simultaneously taking control of their weaponry systems. As for crosshair, well, who knows. Now, while it would be awesome to see them, it probably won't be allowed to happen as it would ruin possible plot points or excitement for what's to come in the bad batch season 2. Maybe Crosshair is eliminated, maybe he joins the team, maybe one of the members isn't around anymore. Bringing them into the show would ruin a lot and spoil potentially a lot for the upcoming season so if they want to bring one member in, they could, however I think bringing in the whole team would make us lose our suspense if anything were to happen to them in future episodes. Sp who else could boba call upon? Well, Bossk, Dengar are still possibilities. Bossk might be tough since he's much more of a fly solo type of guy that doesn't play well with others, especially with Boba, seeing as how just a few years before Boba blew up Bossk's legs and took his invitation to the crimson dawn party. Lucky for Bossk, trandoshans limbs always grow back. Dengar. Now this is a character that in legends saved Boba from the Sarlacc pit. I think if anyone's going to call Dengar, it's Boba. Plus, leaving Bossk for the opposing team would make the dynamic between Krrsantan and the Trandoshan much more fun to watch, and then they can all fight together hopefully in the end. The only person Boba can't call, is Cad Bane, as they aren't the best of friends. Boba's dent on his helmet is from Cad Bane, and there was a recorded episode that never aired between Boba and Cad fighting to the death, where obviously Cad had to die, but later we see his metal plate in his head so perhaps he lived with this cybernetic upgrade keeping his brain functioning, and Boba got a shot to his helmet, which no doubt must have knocked him out since it dented the Beskar. I think Mando will be the most exciting to enter the scene, as the two hopefully will create a great dynamic together like last time, and if I remember, Din kinda owes Boba for all the help he gave him even up to the end there. Gungi summons his green lightsaber with the force and deflects the blasts from the droids, and they get out of there with their ship. They talk to Gungi on the ship and decide to take him to his people, the Wookies from the planet Kashyyyk. The concern is if the Empire has taken over the planet, which they have. As they approach the planet, Hunter announces that the planet is releasing a lot of smoke, meaning the empire has definitely arrived and blown the place up. Now for those who remember, Kashyyyk has a long history, it's a jungle planet, very nature oriented and natural. Gungi's saber hilt is wooden. The planet is like Jumanji basically. Now Gungi has no memory of Kashyyy as younglings are taken to be Jedi at infantile stages of their life. We got to experience Kashyyyk in fallen order, but before that in the game force unleashed, where we star the game off playing as Vader as he fights the Wookies and then meets baby Galen Marek. As they walk through the forest, Gungi and the batch meet some giant spiders which are like the ones we fight in the KOTOR game, as he uses either beast control like anakin did agasint the reek in episode 2 in the genosian arena, or just communicated with it by not being violent, causing them to step aside for safe passage. They find a wookie being held hostage as Trandoshans ride imperial tanks from the clone wars and put the surrounding trees on fire. So it's evident the empire wanted Kashyyyk and they decided who better to work with than the trandoshans who passionately hate the fur balls. Gungi saves the day by igniting his lightsaber and it's a fun scene much like the clone wars. Much destruction has become of beautiful Kashyyyk. Trandoshans have enslaved Wookies forever, and they two races absolutely hate each other. Bossk and Black Krrsantan have fought each other close to death many times, and it was something I was hoping to see in the book of boba fett show. Maybe one day… They are met by some Wookie tribesmen and taken to the Elder of the village, who accomodates them with food and drink. As Trandoshans and Clonetroopers of the Empire come across the saber slash marks from Gungi's lightsaber, they vow to kill the Jedi, and are now coming for him and the Bad Batch. Tech and the Elder discover this convoy headed their way, when the Bad Batch decide to stay and fight, as the Wookies have been a massive ally to the republic during the war, and helped fight alongside them. They speak to the trees spiritually and get ready for war. A massive epic battle ensues and Gungi proves his worth as a Jedi as he goes up against the leader Trandoshan, who gets picked apart by the spiders, caught in their web and lifted up into the trees to be probably eaten. Now i will mention that Trandoshans use fire to obviously burn trees and the forest, but also this reminded me of how Boba beat Chewbacca in a fight once in the canon comics by putting his fur on fire. Wookies are notoriously physically powerful creatures, and so are Trandoshans. On another note, for Wrecker to knock out a trandoshan in one hit, really proves his strength. They don't go down easy. Hunter says they're both just kids but they don't get to be in this galaxy, which is true, and sad because neither of them got the enjoy their youth. Omega with being locked up on Kamino as a science experiment, and then with Gungi running for his life from Order 66, the two have had to grow up really fast and it'll make them quite formidable characters when they are fully grown. The Elder speaks the native language of Kashyyyk, Shyriiwook, and says when a young one leaves, the trees weep, and when they return, the trees sing. So the trees on Kashyyyk have been known to be sentient and to speak to the Wookies, and vice versa. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Conspiracy In The Force - Star Wars and Conspiracy Theories

On this episode, we dive into Episode 4 of "Book of Boba Fett" where we see the continuation of the transhumanist agenda (for a main character this time) and we discuss the ethical issues inherent to robotic enhancements - are these useful tools to keep humans alive, or one step closer to losing our souls?  We also discuss how both Boba and his father were hired guns/useful idiots in the larger power struggles in the galaxy, and how their involvement ruined their lives (one of them died and one of them nearly died).  We finish by discussing the Wookiee Krrsantan taking on the Trandoshan reptilian species and how his anger and brutality towards them parallels what we feel about the elites in our world. In the eighth episode of Season Six of Star Wars: In a Galaxy, Eli and Jacob discuss the final arc of Season Three of Star Wars: The Clone Wars: "Padawan Lost" and "Wookiee Hunt" Among their discussion: – Is this arc a lesson for Ahsoka or Anakin? – The younglings may lessen the impact of the arc. – Trandoshan culture. – The "digging for scraps" feeling of the arc. – "Hey look, it's Chewbacca!" – Should there have been a third episode in this arc? – "Your son died because of your own actions, not mine." – Ahsoka Tano – "Maybe this was a good idea" – Yoda (thinking it, not saying it. I mean, we're not sure, but COME ON that was 100% what he was thinking.) – Why "Wookiee Hunt" isn't a statement, and why that separates it from every other Star Wars television finale. We recap the plot of 5 episodes of Season 3 of Clone Wars this week. The episodes are - The Citadel, Counterattack, Citadel Rescue, Padawan Lost, and Wookie Hunt. Grand Moff Tarkin and Chewbacca make their first appearances in The Clone Wars in these episodes. Timestamps / Chapters00:00 - Introduction8:43 - S3E18 - The CitadelWith help from R2-D2 and a squad of captured battle droids, an elite team of Jedi and clone troopers led by Obi-Wan and Anakin attempt to free a captive Jedi general, Even Piell, from an impenetrable prison. Despite orders to the contrary, Ahsoka Tano tags along, though she proves indispensable when the infiltration mission begins to evolve. Piell and his fleet officer, Captain Tarkin, are liberated from their cells, but now the fugitives must escape the Citadel itself.18:53 - S3E19 - CounterattackWith freed prisoners in their possession and the brutal warden attempting desperately to thwart them, Obi-Wan and Anakin search for a way out of the Citadel and back to Coruscant. The prison, however, has more traps, perils and pitfalls in store for them than they had imagined and they must work past their differences if they are to escape. Their bid to board their shuttle fails when heavy weapons fire destroys the escape craft. Trooper Echo dies in the blast. The escapees then flee to the caves and call for rescue from the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.25:15 - S3E20 - Citadel RescueAfter their ship and only way off the planet is destroyed, Anakin and Obi-Wan must lead the escaped prisoners across Lola Sayu's perilous landscape as Plo Koon commands a task force of four cruisers and their fighters through the Separatist defenses in a daring rescue. Even Piell is ravaged by anooba tracking beasts, but before he dies, he passes on his Nexus Routes coordinates to Ahsoka. When the survivors return to Coruscant, Ahsoka knows half the intel, and refuses to disclose it to anyone but the Jedi Council, while Tarkin refuses to hand over his half to anyone other than the Chancellor.37:37 - S3E21 - Padawan LostAhsoka and a group of abducted younglings find themselves trapped on a Trandoshan moon, prey in an elaborate and cruel hunt. The forlorn younglings have lost all hope, despite the best efforts of their spirited leader, Kalifa. Ahsoka rallies them to defend themselves and strike back against the Trandoshan, an effort with deadly consequences.45:54 - S3E22 - Wookie HuntAs Ahsoka and her youngling allies struggle to evade the Trandoshan hunters, their efforts receive an unexpected boost when a new captive -- Chewbacca the Wookiee -- arrives. Chewie scrounges parts from a wrecked Trandoshan slave ship, assembling a communicator to send out a distress signal. Help arrives in the towering, shaggy form of Wookiee warriors led by General Tarfful. Freed from captivity, Ahsoka returns to the Jedi Temple and is reunited with Anakin Skywalker.Theme song by Tizzy Phttps://soundcloud.com/tudor-petcuFollow our socials. https://www.tiktok.com/@canonballspodcast https://twitter.com/CanonBallsPod https://www.instagram.com/canonballspodcast/Follow us on Twitch to watch live and see our gaming content. https://twitch.tv/carcassboys Listen to the podcast on Sportify and iTunes.https://open.spotify.com/show/1bbZJvaFAApTCCHRTiorLO?si=ZW7usy9dQcu5gm-4DsO2rg https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/canon-balls-podcast/id1512691415 Like and subscribe on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC53OdYxjHJW95g2p08tkVnQ/Become a patron!https://www.patreon.com/user?u=34280702&fan_landing=true

Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we just keep on rolling about Republic Commando, on which both of your hosts worked. This week we talk with lead animator Dave Bogan, about his journey into the industry and what stuck out for him on this project, among many other topics. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Podcast breakdown: 0:44 Interview 1:19:32 Break 1:20:05 Feedback Issues covered: our rampant professionalism, stepping in the right potholes, taking an early liking to art, half arts school/half regular high school, finding out you're not a draftsman, learning about animation, having industry professionals for teachers, not knowing you can work in games, putting in the devotion and the time, a little who's who of great LucasArts artists, making a choice based on comedy and drawing, early experience on CMI and other titles, getting a title axed, finding roles for people rather than laying them off, getting involved in a project and working with other people, doing what you have to to ship, not having a plan and realizing: we always need to have a plan, taking on additional responsibility, the limitations of some of early characters, eyes and face and hands for animation, where one of the animators went, looking for an opportunity as a lead, thinking about how characters behave before you see them, getting expectations set, being intimidated by Daron Stinnett, looking at the competition, feeling elevated by Daron, the excellence of the animation team, learning from Joe Bacciocco, trigger discipline, when good behavior meets up with video game needs, how much an expert cared for people, using soldier expertise, composition and correctness, translating the authenticity, a well-integrated and organized animation team, the Trandoshan who runs at you like a gorilla, having to tell Dave no, various games they thought about post-SWRC, being afraid of not doing a Jedi game, being a pragmatist, lacking strife, having real characters, wanting stories at the forefront, Brett's Book Recommendation, being a salve in tough times, the hidden co-op version of Republic Commando. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: Curse of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Obi-Wan, Escape from Monkey Island, Rogue Squadron, Telltale Games, The Walking Dead, Wolf Among Us, Fame, Degrassi Street, Amanda Stepto, This Is Spinal Tap, Tara Campbell, Sheridan College, Disney, Fox, Pixar, ILM, LucasArts, SquareSoft, Magnum PI, Hironobu Sakaguchi, Kevin Boyle, Chris Miles, Graham Annable, Karen Chelini, Sangeeta Prashar, Sega/Secret Level, Starcraft, Jedi Knight, Ray Gresko, SCUMM, Derek Sakai, Mark Overney, Kevin Micallef, Chris Williams, Daron Stinnett, Eric Ingerson, Tippett Studios, Troy Molander, Dan Connors, Kevin Bruner, John Hancock, Chris Ross, Ryan Kaufman, Stephen McManus, Jeff "Pinecone" Kung, Ian Milham, Dead Space, Bret Robbins, Ascendant Studios, Justice Unlimited, Michael Stemmle, Diablo, Patrick McCarthy, Camela Boswell, Afterlife, Sean Clark, Force Commander, Factor 5, Magpie, Bounty Hunter, Armando Lluch, Cory Allemeier, Loren Cox, Matt White, Medal of Honor, Halo, Ryan Hood, Brett Schulz, Rebecca Perez, Jeremie Talbot, Nathan Martz, Joe Bacciocco, Call of Duty, Hulk Hogan, Haden Blackman, Patrick Sirk, Matt Omernick, GTA, The Force Unleashed, George Lucas, Sledgehammer Games, EA, Soul Reaver, Full Throttle 2, Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine, Martha Wells, The Murderbot Diaries, Chrono Trigger, Mark, Ultima Underworld, Super Mario RPG, Nintendo, Bill, Johnny Szary, Short Circuit. "Padawan Lost" is episode 21 from season 3 of the Clone Wars series, and it's the first of a two-part story arc. Why are we talking about this episode today, you might ask? Well, it's the only remaining story arc that we haven't covered here on the show from season 3, and since it also happens that its featured player - Ahsoka Tano - figures prominently in the upcoming second and third story arcs of season 7, I thought it might be fun to look back at her earlier days, and finish off the season 3 Clone Wars Briefings at the same time. So we'll talk about this episode, which requires you to invent your own reasoning for why a Trandoshan is randomly skulking around a Separatist base on Felucia, and demonstrates the growing emotional attachment Anakin feels for his Padawan. She's kidnapped without a trace, brought to a Trandoshan moon where she's hunted for sport (and for a youth's rite of passage, which goes very badly for said youth). This episode also got me thinking about the animation in season 7; how it compares to season 3; what people were saying about the Clone Wars animation at the start of the show; how far we've come since then; and a little wistfulness over what could have been if Star Wars Resistance had a chance to run for more seasons. Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! Join the community at http://Patreon.com/sw7x7 to get access to bonus episodes and other insider rewards.***

First, they start with "Kindred." When Ezra, Zeb, and Jai Kell attempt a recovery of the hyperdrive, Thrawn's Noghri agent Rukh tracks them down and attacks. Even though they get the hypderdrive to Hera, they still face Imperial pursuit. That is when Governor Pryce sends in the TIE bombers and the loth-wolves show up. Once they escape the Empire with the aid of the wolves, Ezra, Kanan, Zeb, and Sabine need a way of contacting Hera and the Rebellion High Command in "Crawler Commandeers." Although the Empire jammed transmission off the surface, Sabine finds a local contact. Upon investigating, they discover an ore crawler with a communications array that might just solve their problems. However, a Trandoshan captain and foreman stand in their way. Plus, Vizago, their scoundrel friend, is aboard. Meanwhile, on Yavin IV, Hera campaigns for an attack on the TIE Defender factory on Lothal. The discussion in this episode includes the abilities of the Loth-Wolves and their connection to Kanan and the planet, Kanan and Hera's growing relationship, Hera's interaction with the Rebel High Command, and Rukh's appearance.
