Muso and Afternoons regular Chris Schulz says we need big artists, major shows and large-scale touring to return to Aotearoa - immediately. Recently, the likes of Taylor Swift, Oasis, Billie Eilish, Green Day, The Killers, Katy Perry, Korn and Kylie Minogue have toured the globe extensively, including Australia - but then gave New Zealand a wide berth. Xzibit, Nelly, Blink-182, Tenacious D and Public Enemy have announced New Zealand shows and then pulled the plug. Festivals Bay Dreams and Splore are on hiatus, while we've already lost Nest Fest, Morningside Bloc Party, Juicy Fest and the Timeless Tour for various reasons. Chris has vented his frustration on his Boiler Room blog and joins Jesse for a rant.

Send us a textI'm a sucker for a country music power ballad, and I can still remember the moment the early 2000s hit "What I Really Meant to Say" stopped me in my tracks. Written and recorded by Cyndi Thomson—a stunning, talented artist from south Georgia with an angelic voice—this song took over the charts in no time. At the height of her career, she seemed to have it all, yet behind the success, Cyndi was battling crippling anxiety. After just one album, she made the difficult decision to step away from the music industry. The years that followed brought new chapters: family, motherhood, a thriving jewelry design career, and a deepening of her faith, which she now shares in the most beautiful way. Now, Cyndi is returning to music, with new tracks that showcase some of her best work yet. A full EP is set to drop in late spring, and Cyndi has so much more of her story to tell.Let's dive into my conversation with Cyndi Thomson.LEARN MORE ABOUT CYNDI'S VINTAGE JEWELRY LINE, HAYBELLE AT WWW.CYNDITHOMSON.COM Visit www.gotitfrommymommapodcast.comBecome an INSIDER by subscriber to our newsletter on the websiteThank you to our generous Got It From My Momma podcast friends! Nikki Camilleri is a music industry executive, mentor, speaker, arts and social rights advocate and founder of Mana (from the maltese word ‘magħna' meaning ‘with us' or ‘as a collective'). Noting so many artists to be underserved in an increasingly difficult and changing industry, she started Mana to create direct impact leveraging over 10 years experience across leading music companies (Warner Music, Believe Group, Glastonbury Festival etc.) working with and signing artists who have amassed millions of streams and played countless sold out live shows such as Ayelle, Alfa Mist and David Guetta. Mana's mission is to advance sustainable careers in the music industry - enabling artists to maximise their projects, driving social impact through creative work, advocating for working conditions in which music professionals thrive and as a result breaking down the barriers of who gets to be creative. In 2024, Nikki made the Forbes 30 under 30 list for this work. website www.NikkiCamilleri.com Social media: https://www.Instagram.com/nikkicamilleri PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
