It was great to see the Knicks teach little brother a lesson around Christmas time. The inferior NJ Nets took a 121-102 beating on Wednesday. Randle continues to make a case for All-NBA, Donte keeps thriving in whatever role he's asked, and the Knicks played good defense. We go over the Mitchell Robinson news mostly, though, and talk about what it means going forward. As the NBA Finals tip off (tonight), our guest this week is a man who helped lead the Detroit Pistons to back-to-back world championships, part of his 45 years of coaching college or pro basketball, which also included being a scout and assistant coach for the Olympics "Dream Team." (3:36) Coach Brendan Suhr tells some fascinating stories about being an assistant coach under Chuck Daly for the "Bad Boy" Pistons, including Isaiah Thomas and Joe Dumars, now in one of the top positions in the NBA. One of his fellow coaches was the dad of current Denver Nugget's head coach. One the other side was a guy named Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls! Suhr talks about helping to come up with the "Jordan Rules" at 2am in a hotel lobby, during the playoffs. He says coaching is taking players where they can't take themselves. (13:38) What does it take for pro athletes to have that really strong winning mentality? Part of it is buying in, and it takes everyone to do that part as a team - not just in sports but other career fields. Suhr gives us the 3 keys to coaching. For NBA players, (19:36) staying in shape is essential, but Coach Suhr says they used to not play during the offseason, taking a break from basketball and getting needed recovery...but nowadays, overtraining leads to more injuries. Running for an hour every afternoon of a game day was Suhr's ritual. Along with being on the bench for the Pistons in the early 1990's, he also has helped coach the NJ Nets, Toronto Raptors, and Orlando Magic. (27:19) The most dominant team doesn't always win the NBA Finals, he says, and the Miami Heat have the confidence, but he believes the Denver Nuggets will win thanks top having the league's best player plus home court advantage. Suhr has known both head coaches since they were teenagers, including Erik Spoelstra who started in the video room. (32:41) He also founded and has led "Coaching U" for the last 15 years, teaching how to be a great coach, business leadership, and more. (38:55) Find out why coaching people to be better involves their heritage, hopes and heartaches. We close with some of his quick stories about Coach Billy Donovan, Tony Robbins, Coach Nick Saban. Great conversation about systems with my friend Tamara. Here is her bio: Tamara J. Robb is the Founder and President of Robb Digital Marketing. As the first employee at Cooper Katz in 1996, Tamara learned from the best in the agency business. Mentored by Andy Cooper and Ralph Katz (executives at mega-firm Burson Marsteller), Tamara was hired for her entrepreneurial spirit. She learned first-hand from them how to launch, market, and grow a business. Tamara dove fully into digital marketing when she joined NJ.com in 1998, where she helped clients including Weight Watchers, the NJ Nets, and the NJ Education Association get the most from their internet presence when digital advertising was in its infancy. She has also worked in the highly regulated industries of pharma, legal, and finance. Her specialized knowledge and understanding of how to navigate the digital space has helped OTC and pharma brands including Novartis, Celgene, Novo Nordisk, and Merck with site launches, search marketing, and even the first YouTube contest. At the helm of Robb Digital since October 2011, Tamara brings leadership, creativity, and drive with insight and hands-on guidance. She and her team help companies employ smart, engaging, highly targeted digital strategies that build strong brands while successfully impacting their bottom line. Joe Rizzo brings you MMA. RIz (@RearNakedChoke) finally sat down with Sergio Da Silva to discuss all aspects of his amazing life. Da Silva (@TheSavage125) might not be the most recognizable name in MMA, but he's kept company with some of the biggest names in the world. Born in Rio and moved to Queens when he was 3, Da Silva explained his most unlikely introduction to late Soprano's lead James Gandolfini, and detailed how he ended up working for him for years and enjoyed a brother-like relationship. He revealed a story never-before heard about one of Gandolfini's many selfless charity exploits, this one starting with a call to Da Silva in the middle of the night shortly after Superstorm Sandy rocked the New York Metropolitan area. Sergio also recounted the last time he heard from his friend, one of the great actors of his generation, and mixed in stories about how they rubbed elbows with Jay-Z, Beyonce, Neo, Ethan Hawke and LeBron James at NJ Nets games. Then it was on to his relationship and evaluation of up-and-coming MMA fighter John Gotti, Jr., and Sergio explained his relationship with the family. That melded into talk about Da Silva's trial over an alleged bank robbery, of which has talked about very little to this point. Da Silva explained what he went through from a legal and personal standpoint during the harrowing time from the accusation through gaining his freedom. In the meantime, Sergio explained his expertise on pizza, and Riz encouraged him to start his pizza reviews, not worrying about being called a copycat to Dave Portnoy for doing it. Hello Listeners! Sorry we've been so inactive. We have been going through some structural changes. This is a bonus episode that was never aired back in 2019 when Myles Garrett almost killed Mason Rudolph. We decided to air it as a quarantine special! We have Frank Toth, a life-long Steelers fan, back on the show to discuss the incident. We then go off to just talk about a bunch of things so please give a listen and stop listening once it gets boring! But if you make it until the end, you are a very brave soul. God Bless you.
Kenny Anderson joins the podcast to discuss his career with the Nets, The Last Dance, and life during quarantine. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

This week Matt Ritter and Jeff Cerulli discuss a very light week for the Knicks. A win in London vs the bottom feeding Pistons and a rough, rough loss to a bitter rival NJ Nets. We discuss again how rebounding and effort are becoming major problems and how we wish we had a guy like Reggie Evans instead of a stiff like Copeland. On the bright side, Amare's work with Hakeem seems to be paying off, although he looks visibly shorter and is getting stuffed everytime he drives baseline. Once again Melo and JR are having rough shooting outings, although there really aren't many options for shooting. We run through the available free agents in an effort to avoid having K-Mart come to the Knicks. Matt's personal choice would be Dan Gadzuric. Jeff seems to like a guy named Marcus Cousins, not to be confused with DeMarcus Cousins. This is the Marcus Cousins. We look ahead to a rematch against the Celts where the smell of Honey Nut Cheerios may be wafting through the air vents and pray that the Knicks can rip off a winning streak in an easy stretch of the schedule.
Post-game, the crowd was treated to special performances by Hua-Xia Dance Club, Yang Yan, Uncle Yao's Chorus, Sino Culture Center, Han Jian Wei, and Xue-Yan Yao. For more information related to the evening, please visit www.njnets.com.
