How apt that following West Indies miraculous performance to share the Frank Worrell Trophy, Trinidad and Tobago cricket journalist Vaneisa Baksh joined us to talk about her latest book 'Son of Grace' - a biography on the great Frank Worrell. A project that began in 2016 has ended with Baksh putting together the fruits of her archive hunting to write a comprehensive account of Frank Worrell and his life and legacy. We often say on the Caribbean Cricket Podcast that understanding the history of West Indies cricket is critical to understanding our identity as West Indian people and this book does that and then some. Son of Grace can be purchased in print and hardcopy wherever you buy your books and it is one we highly recommend. For three decades Vaneisa Baksh has written about cricket and the West Indies. Her work has appeared around the Caribbean and the globe for international cricket websites such as ESPNcricinfo and in the esteemed Wisden Almanack. Her MPhil in Cultural Studies from The University of the West Indies focused on West Indies cricket and cultural identity, such is her passion for the game. As always with the Caribbean Cricket Podcast we go into a level of depth and analysis on West Indies cricket that you wont hear anywhere else. If you are listening on a podcast channel that allows you to leave a review and rating please do so as it really helps grow the podcast. In this Black History Month special, “father of environmental justice” Dr. Robert Bullard is calling for justice for the community of Shiloh, Alabama, which has suffered repeated flooding ever since a highway was widened and elevated in 2018, causing destruction to homes that Black landowners have proudly kept since the Reconstruction era. Also, Katherine Johnson was an African American trailblazer who while living under Jim Crow in the south worked at NASA as a mathematician and helped put a man on the moon. Her daughter Katherine Moore shares her mother's story. And poet Camille Dungy transformed her sterile lawn in white Fort Collins, Colorado into a pollinator haven teeming with native plants and the wildlife they attract. Her book Soil: The Story of a Black Mother's Garden recounts that journey alongside a world in turmoil amid the coronavirus pandemic, police violence and wildfires. -- We rely on support from listeners like you to keep our journalism strong. Santa Claus History, Special Episode of the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show. Introducing you to another one of my podcasts, it is called the Knowledge: Things You Should Know Podcast. If you are looking for any information about if Santa Claus is real or not, you are in the wrong place. We definitely will not be covering that, instead we will be learning about the history of Santa Claus. Santa Claus, alternatively recognized as Saint Nicholas or Kris Kringle, boasts a rich and intricate history interwoven with Christmas traditions. While contemporary perceptions depict him as the jolly, red-clad bearer of gifts for well-behaved children on Christmas Eve, his origins trace back to the 3rd century. Saint Nicholas, revered for his generosity, initially gained recognition as the patron saint of children. This exploration delves into the evolution of Santa Claus, spanning from his ancient roots to the ubiquitous presence of mall Santas, with a focus on the influential roles played by two New Yorkers, Clement Clark Moore and Thomas Nast, in shaping the enduring image eagerly anticipated by millions of children each Christmas Eve. As dark tourism continues to grow in popularity, destinations across the globe stand out for different reasons. Some, like Hiroshima, are infamous because of man-made conflict. Others, such as Pompeii, attract tourists because of the horrible natural disasters that have occurred. In the case of the Welty House in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, it's because of the deep history of conflict and souls that have passed through its walls. Check out the Welty House and stay at the Brickhouse Inn by following this link. ____________________________________ S01 Ep26 ____________________________________ Connect with Unscaled on social media: Instagram: @fullmetaltraveler Twitter: @fullmetaltravlr Facebook: @fullmetaltraveler Email: Jeremy@fullmetaltraveler.com Website: www.fullmetaltraveler.com Spotify: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/unscaled

A stain on Georgia history, that still impacts families and people in that area. Three Georgia Police Officers were abducted and murdered on Arc Road. In 1964, 3 Georgia Police Officers, Marvin Jesse Gravitt, Jerry Everett and Ralph Davis, were dispatched to investigate a disturbance. It was determined later to be a stolen car. During the investigation on scene, they were surprised, handcuffed together, abducted and then brutally murdered. The bodies of the three police officers were dumped in the woods. Tony Tiffin is our guest.Tony talks about the ambush, abduction and murder. Plus, the impact that the murders still have on their families and other people in the area. Even though this happened in 1964, the impact is still felt after all these years. He documented the entire incident in this book Arc Road.
