Sports with Rod 2-16-2025 …Doug Gottlieb gets a taste of his own douchey medicine
LeBron James takes a shot at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay head coach Doug Gottlieb after going three-straight months without a victory. Recap of the 2025 NBA All-Star game. Adam Hill's 2025 NFL mock draft for the Las Vegas Raiders. SiriusXM host, RJ Clifford joins Cofield & Company to recap UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Rogrigues, compare the media coverage for MMA versus the NBA, and preview the Las Vegas Raiders' offense under new offensive coordinator, Chip Kelly.
How can the NBA be fixed? Is the All-Star Game the problem, or is it just a symptom of a much bigger issue? The game needs to be fixed domestically rather than prioritizing this globalist agenda. Former ESPN broadcaster and sportswriter Bill Simmons brainstorms creative ways to get the NBA back on its feet. Jason expands on the conversation by arguing that the NBA should do everything in its power to keep freshman phenom Duke basketball star Cooper Flagg in college for as long as possible. Whitlock believes in the college blueprint — professional prospects should build a following in college and continue to develop their craft. Then, once they make the leap to the pros, they will be more polished players while also bringing a huge fan base with them. While the NBA faces major issues, the WNBA, on the other hand, is growing at an alarming rate — to the point where the league is considering freedom from the NBA's destructive narrative. The league that subsidized the WNBA's debt on a yearly basis has essentially been given the finger. In other sports news, the NHL's 4 Nations Face-Off championship between Canada and the USA is on Thursday, and the hype surrounding this game couldn't be greater. It could very well be the most viewed hockey match in a decade. Steve Kim joins the show to weigh in on all these topics, as well as Serena Williams' strange attention stunt, Anthony Edwards not wanting to be the face of the league, LeBron James' beef with Doug Gottlieb, and Shedeur Sanders dropping a new song. Wrapping up the show is our very own "Fearless" first lady, Shemeka Michelle, who addresses Trevor Noah's call for segregation. We have a great show planned. Tune in! The Yankees seem to be back engaged with Pete Alonso. Gio said it would bother him if he went to the Yankees, but it wouldn't bother Boomer. I wonder if Brian Cashman would do a Cameo video for Brandon Tierney loving ‘Plan B'. We also talked about the Athletic article about Woody Johnson and the Jets that is not flattering. We talked about some of the bad GMs the Jets had and then other bad GMs and coaches/managers in NY over the years. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Ryan Clark vs Aaron Rodgers. At one point he called Rodgers, ‘slimy'. Michael Penix talked about being in line for a hotdog at Costco when he got the call he would be starting. Max Fried met the media and talked about Yankees players that have already reached out. Marc Malusis had a water pipe break in his house. Doug Gottlieb talked about his back and forth with Adam Schefter that didn't make his bosses happy. One woman on social media is furious with the Rangers trading Kaapo Kakko to the Kraken. In the final segment of the hour, Eddie is going to be out a lot for the holidays and then to observe the wolves in Yellowstone.
Hour 1 Deion Sanders was on the Pacman Jones podcast and really seems like if the Giants get the first overall pick he is good with the Giants taking Shedeur. Now the Giants can't screw this up. Gio would sign up for that and for the Jets to hire Mike Vrabel. Boomer talked to Rich Cimini who is writing an article on whether or not Aaron Rodgers tarnished his legacy these past two seasons. We don't think so at all. Gio checked out the documentary on Rodgers but doesn't like it (Jerry loves it). Gio has had too much of Rodgers in too short a period of time. Gio doesn't find him as interesting as others do. Kaapo Kakko was traded to the Kraken and Boomer doesn't feel right about it. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with Brian Daboll talking about his job security. Michael Penix will start this week and got the news while in line for a Costco hotdog. Rodgers said if he's with the Jets and they draft a QB he will mentor him. The head coach of the Titans went off when it was said the team was soft. Jerry has audio of Deion on the Pacman Jones podcast talking about the Giants and Shedeur. Max Fried met the media and said he was excited to join the Yankees even though he didn't sound excited. Peter Schwartz even got a question in for Fried. In the final segment of the hour, Gio found Brian Cashman on Cameo and couldn't believe it. Maybe he's giving the money to charity. Boomer said he doesn't make baseball player money. Gio finds it very odd. Hour 2 Dianna Russini, Zack Blatt and Mike Silver have another article about the Jets that just came out in the Athletic. Some of the highlights: Woody Johnson nixed a trade for Jerry Jeudy based on his Madden rating because his son gave him this information. Woody also told Mike White once, ‘you should throw your helmet, you suck'. A caller wonders if this is all politically motivated against Woody. Jerry returns for an update and starts with audio of Brian Daboll being asked about his job security. Malik Nabers was asked about the Giants drafting a quarterback. Aaron Rodgers was asked about Kirk Cousins being benched for Michael Penix. Max Fried was on with BT & Sal and Sal asked if he left the NL East because he didn't want to face Soto.
