October 06 2024 Sunday Week 23 / Your Place In Him / T. Stacy Hayes #findoutwhoyouare My Vision My vision is to teach the world Who They Are In Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior! To Teach them what the Bible says about them and who they have been made to be in the promises of God's Word. This changed my life years ago and completely transformed me from a person full of doubt, fear and unbelief to a strong confident Christian that knows I can do anything through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. And I'm determined to teach the world what God has taught and commissioned me to teach and that is His Word.  That commission takes me to jails and detention centers weekly along with other open doors at many churches and ministries that are wanting to teach these important truths to the world. My podcast goes out 6 days a week to help the people I am ministering to grow in the truths that God has taught me for many years now. This podcast is free to all that want to listen and grow strong in who God has made them to be in Christ Jesus their Lord and Savior. Romans 10:8-10 KJV   “In fact, it says, “The message is very close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” And that message is the very message about faith that we preach: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” Romans 10:8-10 NLT   “But what does it say? The Word (God's message in Christ) is near you, on your lips and in your heart; that is, the Word (the message, the basis and object) of faith which we preach, [Deut. 30:14.] Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation.” Romans 10:8-10 AMPC

2 Corinthians 5:14-17 (NKJV) For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;15, and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.16, Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer.17, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Colossians 1:22 (NLT) Yet now He has reconciled you to Himself through the death of Christ in His physical body. As a result, He has brought you into His own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault. Romans 5:1 (NLT) Therefore, since we have been made right in God's sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

1 Timothy 6:6-12 NLT Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can't take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. … so run from all these evil things. Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. A consistent theme throughout Scripture is placing focus on God, His goodness, and His grace while staying away from the attraction of the world and sin. Simply reading the news every day gives us plenty of evidence that money and power do not make people happy and content. Suicide, depression, anxiety, and the like have little to do with the state of income but rather the state of mind. Let's do an honest inventory. Knowing that ‘money' represents security, prestige, pleasure. What is an area of your life that your focus has been the ‘craving' of money, and what it represents, as the scripture calls it? Listen once again, this time focusing only on the “do” verses, not the “dont's”:  Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can't take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. … Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. (1 Timothy 6:6-12 NLT) As we often talk about here, focusing only on the dont's is not sustainable. We need to replace the dont's with the do's. Can you focus today on pursuing these things, not just staying away from the temptations of wealth? Pursue righteousness, love, perseverance, gentleness? Let's pray: “Father, teach me to be content. Help me to pursue righteousness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness as I fight the good fight for my faith in You. As above, so below.”

HEALING: SIMPLE YET COMPLICATED (PART 1) Sunday, July 16th 2023 Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5 (NLT) Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins! 5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. 2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Acts 20:7-12  Matthew 8:14-15 When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him. 2 Timothy 4:20 1 Timothy 5:23 Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses. 2 Corinthians 12:8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”  John 9:1-25 OUR FAITH IS NOT BASED ON WHAT GOD DOES BUT ON WHO HE IS. John 14:12 Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Romans 5:17-19 KJV 'For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. Yes, Adam's one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ's one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.' Romans 5:17-19 NLT ' For if because of one man's trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God's] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). Well then, as one man's trespass [one man's false step and falling away led] to condemnation for all men, so one Man's act of righteousness [leads] to acquittal and right standing with God and life for all men. For just as by one man's disobedience (failing to hear, heedlessness, and carelessness) the many were constituted sinners, so by one Man's obedience the many will be constituted righteous (made acceptable to God, brought into right standing with Him).' Romans 5:17-19 AMPC 'So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.”” Galatians 2:16 NLT “Yet we know that a man is justified or reckoned righteous and in right standing with God not by works of the Law, but [only] through faith and [absolute] reliance on and adherence to and trust in Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). [Therefore] even we [ourselves] have believed on Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the Law [for we cannot be justified by any observance of the ritual of the Law given by Moses], because by keeping legal rituals and by works no human being can ever be justified (declared righteous and put in right standing with God). Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, ________ Ephesians 3:30 ESV Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us. Ephesians 3:30 ESV   “Don't be afraid!” David said. “I intend to show kindness to you because of my promise to your father, Jonathan. I will give you all the property that once belonged to your grandfather Saul, and you will eat here with me at the king's table!”2 Samuel 9:7 NLT   Mephibosheth bowed respectfully and exclaimed, “Who is your servant, that you should show such kindness to a dead dog like me?” 2 Samuel 9:8 NLT   But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God's glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Romans 8:13-17 NLT   Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” Acts 1:4-5 NLT   The gift of choice is God's greatest gift to us because this separates Christianity from being a religion to a relationship.   So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.” Luke 11:13 NLT   You will not fully understand God's goodness and live a dynamic life here on earth without a relationship with Holy Spirit. Comfort “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.  John 14:15-17 NLT   But one who prophesies strengthens others, encourages them, and comforts them. 1 Corinthians 14:3 NLT   Conviction And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God's righteousness, and of the coming judgment. The world's sin is that it refuses to believe in me. Righteousness is available because I go to the Father, and you will see me no more. John 16:8-10 NLT       Counsel When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.  John 16:13 NLT   If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.  James 1:5 NLT   Yet you do not have because you do not ask. James 4:2 NKJV Fellowship May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. 2 Corinthians 13:14 NLT   Gifts   And God confirmed the message by giving signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit whenever he chose. Hebrews 2:4 NLT   Fruit   For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true. Ephesians 5:9 NLT   "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one Another." John 13:34-35 NIV   No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us. 1 John 4:12 NLT   Revealed Mysteries That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God's deep secrets. No one can know a person's thoughts except that person's own spirit, and no one can know God's thoughts except God's own Spirit. And we have received God's Spirit (not the world's spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 1 Corinthians 2:9-12 NLT   Prayer Help And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. Romans 8:26 NLT     Power   I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 NLT Liberty   For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. 2 Corinthians 3:17-18 NLT   Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away—all who have been called by the Lord our God.” Acts 2:38-39 NLT   Repent Be water Baptized Receive the Holy Spirit

Episode Summary: Amy Joob and I talk about how to get unstuck in life and move forward into the season God has for you. Amy Joob and her husband found themselves stuck in the recent pandemic and made the successful transition into a new path for their careers and ministry. She shares what she learned in the process. Quotables from the episode: One of the keys to getting unstuck and moving forward is to be humble and accept help. Give yourself permission to grieve your losses. Getting unstuck requires being willing to change and adapt, in faith. When you're really feeling stuck, consider a time of fasting and prayer. Getting unstuck often requires being intentional and willing to do something completely different. Getting unstuck requires us to surrender to God's will and His way. Loss of favor in an old place of position may be a sign it's time to step into the new. In the midst of pain, invite Jesus in to meet you in your pain. Scripture References: Psalm 73:23-24 NLT “Yet, I still belong to you; you are holding my right hand. You will keep on guiding me with your counsel; leading me to a glorious destiny.” Jeremiah 29:11 NIV “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Recommended Resources: Amy's new 40-Day Prayer Journal, Unstuck: Step Into the New by Amy Joob Model Behavior: Make Your Career Path Your Calling by Amy Joob The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson Fasting by Jentezen Franklin Fasting Edge by Jentezen Franklin The New Era by Lana Vawser Revive and Thrive Summit 1 Revive and Thrive Summit 2 Trusting God through Cancer Summit 1 Trusting God through Cancer Summit 2 Free Download: How To Fight Fearful/Anxious Thoughts and Win Breaking Anxiety's Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises by Dr. Michelle Bengtson Breaking Anxiety's Grip Free Study Guide Free 7-Day YouVersion Bible Reading Plan for Breaking Anxiety's Grip Hope Prevails: Insights from a Doctor's Personal Journey Through Depression by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the Christian Literary Award Reader's Choice Award Hope Prevails Bible Study by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the Christian Literary Award Reader's Choice Award Social Media Links for Host and Guest: To connect with Amy Joob: Website / Facebook / Instagram / LinkedIn For more hope, stay connected with Dr. Bengtson at: Order Book Breaking Anxiety's Grip / Order Book Hope Prevails  /  Website  /  Blog  /  Facebook / Twitter (@DrMBengtson)  /  LinkedIn  /  Instagram / Pinterest / YouTube Guest: Amy is a motivational speaker and an award winning author of Model Behavior: Make Your Career Path Your Calling (Redemption Press, 2019). Our Kingdoms Must Fall Before His Kingdom Will Rise Today's readings are Esther 9 – 10 and Luke 19.  We are reading from the New Living Translation.   Our kingdoms will have to fall before his kingdom comes. He's in Jericho, enroute to Jerusalem. Crowds are starting to gather. They're starting to think that perhaps Jesus is the Messiah and that this is the beginning of something big. Perhaps he will lead a revolt and inaugurate his kingdom when he arrives in Jerusalem. Excitement begins to mount but Jesus is going to adjust their thinking. Because our kingdoms must fall before his kingdom will rise. Luke says clearly: And because he was nearing Jerusalem, he told them a story to correct the impression that the Kingdom of God would begin right away. (Luke 19:11 NLT) So he tells them the story of a king that is returning to receive the return on the investment that he has given to his servants. But he is met with rejection by some. Two servants served well and one did not. The two who served well, received reward, but judgement came to the servant who did not serve well. His kingdom fell and with him, all who had despised this new king and his kingdom. In verse 21 the wicked servant says, I was afraid because you are a hard man to deal with, taking what isn't yours and harvesting crops you didn't plant. This servant couldn't imagine building a kingdom for someone else, giving to him what wasn't his, or harvesting what he hadn't planted. He was lost building his own kingdom. His end is tragic. This story is a course correction, because we can get lost building our own kingdoms and when we do we lose sight of who we are. We are not the king building our own kingdom. No. We are servants in God's story. And yet, over and over again, we live our lives as if we are the king and that the crown is on our own head. We can live with the mindset that any investments we make are going to us and not to the harsh master. I will be the king and I will build my kingdom. But our kingdoms must fall before his will rise. As Jesus approaches Jerusalem on a borrowed donkey he stops and weeps as he looks at that magnificent city. He weeps because he has longed to be her king. But he has been rejected and he will be rejected again, by those who are building their own kingdoms. He weeps because he knows that our kingdoms must fall before his will rise. But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, he began to weep. “How I wish today that you of all people would understand the way to peace. But now it is too late, and peace is hidden from your eyes. Before long your enemies will build ramparts against your walls and encircle you and close in on you from every side. They will crush you into the ground, and your children with you. Your enemies will not leave a single stone in place, because you did not recognize it when God visited you. (Lk 19:41-44 NLT) Yet, in the midst of the falling of our kingdoms and the rising of his, this king has shown us the way of peace and the way of life. He made this way known in Jerusalem by offering up his life on the cross, and he has made a way for all those who have tried to build their own kingdoms and failed. He has made a way for all those who stand among the ruins of their own lives – all those who have cried out to God, who weeps for them, for mercy. There at the cross he makes the way of life and peace known to us. But first our kingdoms must fall before his will rise. Know well who you are in this story. You are not the king and the crown is not on your head. Your king has come riding into Jerusalem on a donkey . He comes into the city where he has made the way of life and peace known to you, by his death on the cross. There he gives you his life, so that you can live your life as his servant, investing well, all that he has given you. Your reward will be Him and Him alone – a life that is abundant and free.

Daily Voice Devotional with Niyi Adekunle

Wednesday 4th August The Fullness of Life 4 When we were kids, we had this poem we used to recite about Humpty Dumpty. One of the lines in the poem says, "Humpty Dumpty had a great fall..." This quickly reminds me of the Fall of Man; like Humpty Dumpty it was more a greater fall. The human mind cannot even begin to imagine how great the fall of man was and the extent of its consequences. So, when we talk about the Fall of Man, where exactly did he fall from? Let's look at Psa 8:5 (NLT) Yet you made them only a little lower than God. The above scripture gives you an idea of where Man fell from. The man that God made was made to be slightly lower than God. Man was a wonder, even to angels. God was the ultimate and the next life to God was the life of mankind. The Fall of Man reduced man to almost nothing. So how low was this fall? Genesis 3:19 (NKJV) In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.” From the scripture above God gave man a new definition and that definition was DUST. This was how low man had been reduced to by sin. The moment man ate the fruit in disobedience, the God part infused in him was taken away, leaving him as lifeless as a carcass. God having a perfect understanding of what life is, said that man will die, and die they did because he had separated his life from them. To push this further when God cursed The serpent, God said to The serpent "dust shall you eat..." Meaning that man fell below Angels demons and became a victim of almost everything in this world. This is exactly what the fall meant. Friends, we fell so low, so much so that everything sees us as a prey. This is why we need the fullness of life. Life without Christ is empty, but thank God for Jesus. Today we can have access to God through Jesus who gives us the fullness of life. Today I pray that if you don't know Jesus, you should come to know him; and if you've come to know him, I pray you grow in this understanding and walk in the path that God has destined for you. God bless you. Enjoy the rest of your day.

“Hosanna!  Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD!”  These words from Psalm 118 are what the crowd shouted with joy as Jesus made his way into Jerusalem on a donkey. After the miracles Jesus had done in Galilee and Jerusalem, and more recently the raising of Lazarus to life after four days in the tomb, Jesus’ reputation is soaring. Jesus is hailed by the crowd as their long expected Messiah – and given a king’s welcome. Their shout: “Blessed is the king of Israel!” expresses their hopes and dreams that Jesus would bring freedom from Roman occupation, Roman taxes, and Roman brutality.  Many assume: “If he can raise the dead to life again, then nothing can stand in his way. A person with Jesus’ power is exactly the Messiah-King we need!” Sadly, they are clueless to the sort of Messiah he is – and the path to freedom Jesus will forge for all people through his sacrificial death and resurrection victory. While Judas Iscariot may have tried to tip Jesus’ hand through his act of betrayal, the rest of the disciples are also clueless as to nature of Jesus’ kingship. They don’t understand the significance of Jesus riding into town on a donkey.  In spite of Jesus’ repeated passion predictions, they couldn’t make sense of what unfolded – until afterwards. As the crowd greets Jesus with a rock star welcome, the religious leaders are scratching their heads over how to eliminate him when he has such a large fan base. ‘Then the Pharisees said to each other, “There’s nothing we can do. Look, everyone has gone after him!”’ (John 12:19 NLT) Yet within a few days the crowd were shouting: “Crucify him!” The passion of crowd hysteria is powerful.  And fickle! Jesus knew this would happen.  Yet he does not turn away from his destiny – and our destiny.  For the joy of seeing you and me in eternity with him, Jesus willingly endured the cross scorning its shame (Hebrews 12:2).  His passionate love for the world moves him to make the ultimate sacrifice for us! May Jesus’ passion for each of us fuel our passion to serve, encourage and bless others in his name! Shalom! Pr Rolly Stahl

(1 Timothy 6:6-12 NLT) Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. Let’s do an honest inventory. What is an area of your life that your focus has been the ‘craving’ of money as the scripture calls it? Listen once again, this time focusing only on the “do” verses, not the “don’ts”: Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth. After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. … Pursue righteousness and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight for the true faith. (1 Timothy 6:6-12 NLT) Might it be possible that if we follow the advice of today’s passage we would live much better lives and money could simply become a resource we steward and not a driving force or constant burden? Let’s pray: “Father, teach me to be content. Help me to pursue righteousness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness as I fight the good fight for my faith in You. As above, so below.”

One way to see is to look at our priorities. We all have our priorities... Ever sat down and thought about what your priorities are? Spouse, children and grandchildren, work or study, etc., etc. What about God or church...? John 12:1-11 - Martha, Mary, and Judas Martha: Jesus is again in Bethany enjoying a dinner put on for him Martha is serving the meal... One of Martha's top priorities seems to be service to others, and by extension, service to God. In Jesus' presence, her first impulse was to serve Him Mary: Mary comes and kneels at Jesus feet to anoint him. John probably wants us to connect this anointing with the triumphal entry. Jesus is anointed then proclaimed King. The cost of the ointment was worth about 300 denarii, about $55,000 U.S. dollars. Mary had probably spent her life savings for it. Mary's priority was adoration of Jesus; receiving His teaching and showing Him extravagant worship. Do you notice that neither Martha nor Mary's priorities had themselves as the object? Judas: Remember Jesus saying: Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also? It also works the other way around. Where your heart is that’s where you’ll invest your treasure. Judas is more worried about what might be done with the money that this jar would bring in the market place – particularly if he could get his hands on it. Judas doesn’t have kingdom priorities. He seems to be in it for what profit he can get out of it. John 12:12-16 - The Chief Priests and the Crowd The Chief Priests: They’ve already decided Jesus, and now Lazarus, needs to die. They’ve closed their minds to the possibility that Jesus is the Messiah. "All the world has gone out after Him!" The chief priests probably meant by this, "our world, our people, are going after Him, instead of us!"   They were afraid of what He was going to cost them: power, prestige, control... How different from Mary! The Crowd: They cry out a royal welcome: “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord— the King of Israel!” "Save us, we beseech you, O Lord! O Lord, we beseech you, give us success! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. We bless you from the house of the Lord." - Psalm 118:25-26 (NRSV) But why did they praise Him? Was it adoration like Mary's?  Was it self-interest, like Judas?  What were their priorities?  Most likely a mix, which surely the Lord understands... "For the Lord will remove his hand of judgment and will disperse the armies of your enemy. And the Lord himself, the King of Israel, will live among you!  At last your troubles will be over, and you will never again fear disaster." - Zephaniah 3:15 (NLT) Yet also, surely Martha's and Mary's priorities, committed service and extravagant adoration, are the examples for us to follow... Closing thoughts and a Challenge We have seen a range of responses to Jesus based on different priorities. Where do our priorities lie when it comes to Jesus, to God, to God’s church? A bit of "homework:" Prayerfully consider what are most important things in your life, and what you believe your priorities should be.  Then consider, are those things which I believe are the most important things in my life, also those things that my actions proclaim to be the most important?

Our Worship and Teaching Pastor, Erin Rose, brought a message of Hope as we begin the Sundays in Advent. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? (Romans 7:18-19, NLT)Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later. 19 For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really areAgainst its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, 21 the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.24 We were given this hope when we were saved.(If we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.).Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died— more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

How do you have a God Centered Life? In what ways are you pleasuring seeking instead of God seeking? We need to learn what motives are selfish, and what is true humility! MESSAGE NOTES: James 4:1-5 NLT What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure. You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him. A pleasure-centered life is marked by SELFISHNESS. Selfishness forgets GOD. James 4:2 NLT Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. Psalm 37:4 NKJV Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. James 4:3 NLT And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure. 2 Timothy 3:4-5 GW They will love pleasure rather than God. They will appear to have a godly life, but they will not let its power change them. Selfishness is fascinated by the WORLD. James 4:4 NLT You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. Exodus 20:3 NIV “You shall have no other gods before me. Selfishness fights with PEOPLE. James 4:1-2 NLT What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. A God-centered life is marked by HUMILITY. James 4:6 NLT And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” 1. Humility releases GRACE. James 4:7 GW So place yourselves under God’s authority. Resist the devil, and he will run away from you. 2. Humility resists the DEVIL. James 4:8-9 NLT Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. 3. Humility runs to JESUS. __________________________________________ To get to know us more, be sure to check out our website : http://coastalcommunity.tv Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE to our channel for weekly video messages that will change your life! Have you ever been afraid of something? When I first saw you, I was afraid to talk to you. When I first talked to you, I was afraid to like you. When I first liked you, I was afraid to love you. Now that I love you, I'm afraid to lose you. - Yesenia Ann Peralez This person was afraid of one thing after another, living in fear instead of rejoicing. Sometimes we too as Christians can live in fear instead of the living in the joy of the Lord. Nehemiah could have lived in fear, because there was a lot to be afraid of, but instead he trusted in the Lord and persisted in doing his work for the Lord, despite constant opposition. “Opposition is a fact: the Christian who is not conscious of being opposed had better watch himself for he is in danger.” (J. I. Packer, Knowing God) “Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.” (2 Timothy 3:12, NLT) Yet, Christians must persevere despite opposition: “God blesses those who are persecuted for doing right, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs. “God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against you because you are my followers.” (Matthew 5:10–11, NLT) Be encouraged… “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation.” (Romans 5:3–4, NLT) “So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.” (1 Corinthians 15:58, NLT) “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. This week, we’re starting a new short series on living the victorious Christian life. Today’s message is that weakness is not failure, but enables God to be powerful in our lives. The Apostle Paul’s leadership was in question by the believers in Corinth. He was not as impressive as other wannabe church leaders. Paul acknowledged that: ‘We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.’ (2 Corinthians 4:8–9, NLT) Yet, he and Timothy did not consider their difficulties as evidence of failure. Instead, they were opportunities for strength and success. This success was clearly not from them, as they were weak – instead, it was from God, who is all-powerful. ‘We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.’ (2 Corinthians 4:7, NLT) Paul shows that his success is not due to worldly methods or worldly impression, but from the power of God. This is why we should never give up when we are tempted to do so, because of apparent failure. Don’t look at the problem issue you see, but persevere, knowing that God can use your perseverance much more than you might realise. When you rely on God’s strength when you are weak, you are allowing God to work in and through you in ways that you might not even begin to realise.

Yesterday evening I was listening to the inspiring finale of the ‘Les Misérables’ musical with someone, and I was struck by the lyrics before the final anthem “Do you hear the people sing” sung by Jean Valjean, Fantine and Eponine: Take my hand, and lead me to salvation. Take my love, for love is everlasting. And remember, the truth that once was spoken: To love another person is to see the face of God… The last line above could be understood to be an allusion to the Bible verse: “No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.” (1 John 4:12, NLT). The Apostle John teaches that if godly love is seen in the lives of Christ’s followers, then even though people cannot see God directly, they can see him indirectly when his children show his likeness by loving others. This was also the passage which we looked at on Sunday morning. In 1 John 4:7-21, John wants to reassure believers (those who have trusted in Jesus by faith for salvation) that they know God. One of the results of trusting Jesus is that believers will live godly lives. If the fruit of the Spirit can be seen, if the maturing or end result of the work of God is evident in their lives, then the believer can be sure that they are truly God’s children. In other words, if they are a chip off the old block, or ‘like father, like son (or daughter),’ they can be assured of being a child of God. John’s argument features some of the most lovely, most awesome, statements in the whole Bible, such as: “God is love.” (1 John 4:8, NLT) “This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” (1 John 4:10, NLT) Yet, despite being such profound truths, these are only supportive statements in his argument to reassure believers of their standing with God. It is a bit like going out for a meal, but instead of going to a local restaurant, going to one via the scenic route of the north Antrim coast on a bright summer’s afternoon. We can get captivated by the scenery and forget where we are being taken. So too in 1 John 4:7-21, John takes us on a captivating path through some of the most inspiring verses of his letter, if not the whole Bible. Focusing back on John’s argument, rather than his inspiring supporting points, he wants believers to understand that they need not fear the judgment day, because of the evidence that is already there in their favour. When they stand before God, and are judged according to works, only those who have been already justified by faith will have the evidence of righteousness, the good works that will distinguish them from those who are unrighteous. If they show godly love that is similar to the self-sacrificial love of God that sent Jesus to die for sinners (and not worldly love that comes from essentially self-centred or impure motives, no matter how charitable it may be; Romans 3:9-20), then such love in action is proof that they are already right with God. Such love in action is not the way to get right with God, but it is the proof that they are already right with him, and do not need to fear on the judgment day. But in order to distinguish between worldly love and godly love, John illustrates his point with showing what godly love is like. He wants to show the difference between worldly love that is focused on benefitting us, our family, our community, our favourite sports club, our favourite charities, that inflates our pride, etc, in fact anything that is us-centred, with love that is other-centred, love that is focused on benefitting others, such as our those who we do not naturally want to love. Love that is from God loves enemies, is self-sacrificial, and can be ultimately seen in practice where God loved the world by Jesus’ suffering and dying on the cross for our good, for our salvation. This kind of love is what John wants his readers to look for as evidence of God at work in their lives. John concludes by saying that when believers love like this, it is not in order to get right with God, but it is because they are already right with him: “We love each other because he loved us first.” (1 John 4:19, NLT) That is why it is so important that the believers love one another and others with the kind of love that comes from God. Lack of godly love in a person’s life indicates that a person has not believed in Jesus for salvation, and they cannot truly call themselves a child of God (1 John 4:20). But, anyone who shows godly love can be assured that they are a child of God (1 John 5:13).

Our counsel is that you warn the freeloaders to get a move on. Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. And be careful that when you get on each other's nerves you don't snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out. (1 Thessalonians 5:14) (NIV) And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.  1.    Warn those who are idle and disruptive 2.    Encourage the disheartened 3.    Help the weak The Purpose of Freedom Church – Why we exist: To reach out as FRIENDS with the life-giving message of Jesus so that we all might become fully devoted followers of Christ. (Luke 15:4) (NLT) “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won't he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? Moving from Consumer to Contributor: 1.    With our Treasure  (Malachi 3:8) (NLT) “Should people cheat God?   (Malachi 3:8) (NLT) …Yet you have cheated me! “But you ask, ‘What do you mean? When did we ever cheat you?'   (Malachi 3:8) (NLT) “You have cheated me of the tithes and offerings due to me.   (Malachi 3:9) (NLT) You are under a curse, for your whole nation has been cheating me.   (Malachi 3:10) (NLT) Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven's Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! 2.    With our Time 94% of people said volunteering improved their mood. (Luke 6:31) (NLT) Do to others as you would like them to do to you. (Philippians 2:3-4) (NIV) …in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. (Ephesians 5:15-18) (MSG) Live life, then, with a due sense of responsibility, not as men who do not know the meaning and purpose of life but as those who do. Make the best use of your time, despite all the difficulties of these days. Don't be vague but firmly grasp what you know to be the will of God. Don't get your stimulus from wine (for there is always the danger of excessive drinking), but let the Spirit stimulate your souls. 3.    With our Talent (1 Peter 4:10) (NIV) Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms. (2 Corinthians 4:2) (MSG) We refuse to wear masks and play games. We don't maneuver and manipulate behind the scenes. And we don't twist God's Word to suit ourselves. Rather, we keep everything we do and say out in the open, the whole truth on display, so that those who want to can see and judge for themselves in the presence of God.

Then he issued a proclamation in Nineveh: "By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let any man or beast, herd or flock, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink.” (Jonah 3: 8-9) “But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth. Let everyone call urgently on God. Let them give up their evil ways and their violence. Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from his fierce anger so that we will not perish."”   (Jonah 3:10) “When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened.”     A Place to Change   How can we change direction in our lives?   1.     Listening to someone's story Share your story, email us at: info@freedom-church.org (Revelation 12:11) “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”   2.     Fear of Consequences (Romans 3:18) (NLT) “They have no fear of God at all.”           (Hebrews 10:31) (NKJV) “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”    (2 Thessalonians 1:9) (NLT) “They will be punished with eternal destruction, forever separated from the Lord and from his glorious power.”   (Psalm 32:3-4) (NLT) “When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.  Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.  (Psalm 32:5) (NLT) “Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.”  And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.” (Psalm 32:6-7) (NLT) “Therefore, let all the godly pray to you while there is still time, that they may not drown in the floodwaters of judgment. For you are my hiding place; you protect me from trouble.  You surround me with songs of victory.” 3.     Change our behavior (Isaiah 58:2) (NLT) “Yet they act so pious!  They come to the Temple every day and seem delighted to learn all about me.  They act like a righteous nation that would never abandon the laws of its God.  They ask me to take action on their behalf, pretending they want to be near me.”   (Isaiah 58:3-4) (NLT) “‘We have fasted before you!' they say. ‘Why aren't you impressed?  We have been very hard on ourselves, and you don't even notice it!'” “I will tell you why!” I respond. “It's because you are fasting to please yourselves. Even while you fast, you keep oppressing your workers. What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with me.” (Isaiah 58:5) (NLT) “You humble yourselves by going through the motions of penance, bowing your heads like reeds bending in the wind. You dress in burlap and cover yourselves with ashes.  Is this what you call fasting?Do you really think this will please the Lord? “They hurt enough that they have to” “Nobody changes until the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of change"     4.     There is a time limit (2 Peter 3:10) “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night…”   For more information on the vision of Freedom Church, please visit our website at www.freedom-church.org.
