Many people desire miracles from God. They want God to perform miracles to “prove” Himself to them. “If only God would perform a miracle, sign, or wonder, then I would believe!” This idea, though, is contradicted by Scripture. Today, Pastor Mark will be reminding you that Israel saw miracles, yet didn't believe. A faith based on miracles is not a mature faith. God performed the greatest “God miracle” of all time in coming to earth as the Man Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins so that we could be saved. God does still perform miracles—many of them simply go unnoticed or are denied.

To Teach them what the Bible says about them and who they have been made to be in the promises of God's Word. This changed my life years ago and completely transformed me from a person full of doubt, fear and unbelief to a strong confident Christian that knows I can do anything through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. And I'm determined to teach the world what God has taught and commissioned me to teach and that is His Word.  That commission takes me to jails and detention centers weekly along with other open doors at many churches and ministries that are wanting to teach these important truths to the world. My podcast goes out 6 days a week to help the people I am ministering to grow in the truths that God has taught me for many years now. This podcast is free to all that want to listen and grow strong in who God has made them to be in Christ Jesus their Lord and Savior. Isaiah 53:5  Healing… Matthew 18:19  Agree with God's Word… Mark 10:29-30  100 Fold Return… Acts 10:34  God is no respecter of persons… The Biggest Desire In The World Today Is The Desire For Freedom “in whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:” Colossians 2:11 KJV “When you came to Christ, you were “circumcised,” but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision—the cutting away of your sinful nature.” Colossians 2:11 NLT “In Him also you were circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but in a [spiritual] circumcision [performed by] Christ by stripping off the body of the flesh (the whole corrupt, carnal nature with its passions and lusts).” Colossians 2:11 AMPC “whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:” 1 Peter 1:8 KJV “You love him even though you have never seen him. [And it is meant] for all who believe. For there is no distinction,” Romans 3:22 AMPC “But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.” Romans 5:15 KJV “But there is a great difference between Adam's sin and God's gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:15 NLT “But God's free gift is not at all to be compared to the trespass [His grace is out of all proportion to the fall of man]. For if many died through one man's falling away (his lapse, his offense), much more profusely did God's grace and the free gift [that comes] through the undeserved favor of the one Man Jesus Christ abound and overflow to and for [the benefit of] many.” Romans 5:15 AMPC “For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Romans 5:17-19 KJV “For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. Yes, Adam's one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ's one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone. Because one person disobeyed God, many became sinners. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.” Romans 5:17-19 NLT “For if because of one man's trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God's] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). Well then, as one man's trespass [one man's false step and falling away led] to condemnation for all men, so one Man's act of righteousness [leads] to acquittal and right standing with God and life for all men.  For just as by one man's disobedience (failing to hear, heedlessness, and carelessness) the many were constituted sinners, so by one Man's obedience the many will be constituted righteous (made acceptable to God, brought into right standing with Him).” Romans 5:17-19 AMPC Romans 10:9-10  Salvation… Romans 10:17  Faith in God comes from hearing His Word… Matthew 11:28-30  Jesus'Yoke is Easy… John 3:16  God gave Jesus to pay for our Salvation… God Loves The abortion dr As Much As He Loves The Babies They Are Killing… Philippians 12:2  Work out your own Salvation… Romans 8:1  No condemnation in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior…  Luke Chapter 15 The Story Of The Prodigal Son… Philippians 4:19  God will supply all your needs let Him… Romans 4:20  Don't Stagger at What God Is Saying In His Word… John 15:5 We can't do anything aside from Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior… 2 Corinthians 5:17  We are new creatures in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior… 2 Corinthians 5:21  We are The Righteousness of God In Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior… Mark 10:29-30  100 Fold Return… Ephesians 2:8  We are Saved by Grace through Faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior… Believe God's Word Above All Opinions God Loves The abortion dr's As Much As He Loves The Babies They Are Killing… Mark 10:29-30  100 Fold Return… Share This Podcast On Your Social Media… Website https://the-prodigalson.com Email tstacyhayes@gmail.com  YouVersion Bible App https://my.bible.comi iOS App https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/prodigal-son/id1450529518?mt=8 …  Android App https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tv.wizzard.android.prodical  Social Media https://www.facebook.com/The-Prodigal-SON-209069136315959/ https://www.facebook.com/noreligion1511/ https://twitter.com/noreligion1511 https://www.instagram.com/noreligion1511/ https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCPx4s1CLkSYef6mp4dSuU4w/featured

Welcome to Episode #135 of Way of the Bible podcast. This is our seventh of eight episodes in our seventeenth mini-series, The Man Jesus Christ. So far in this mini-series we've looked at the divinity of Jesus, his incarnation and early life, his transition into public ministry, his big Miracle Extravaganza splash, and the calling of his first disciples. On this episode we're going to look at the Ministry of Jesus among the people.I've also been addressing on this mini-series my own spiritual transformation. I've been a born-again Holy Spirit filled believer of Jesus Christ for almost thirty years. And for thirty years before that a believer in Jesus, but I did not know him. While producing and recording the earliest episodes of this podcast I began tracking the relationship of good and evil in regard to intimacy with God. What I discovered by the end of the Old Testament was intimacy with God was hindered by sin. Sin fosters lack of belief and disobedience of God's commands. It all goes back to God's counsel of Cain (see Gen 4:7).I had a gut check when I finished the Old Testament. I believed in God and what he has done, is doing, and will do through Jesus Christ. Yet I did not feel the intimacy I knew others had written of feeling. Think of Teresa of Avila, John Wesley, Brother Lawrence, George Muller, Jonathan Edwards, George McDonald, C.S. Lewis, Mother Teresa, Dallas Willard, Eugene Peterson. What did they know that I didn't. What had they encountered with God that I had not. Now that I know what I know now [that which I did not know before I knew what I now know] is something I knew others had experienced but I thought was just for the “super” saints. Continual, weekly, daily, hourly, moment by moment intimacy with God our Father through Jesus Christ our Lord. Then I started with the New Testament. When I started with the New Testament, I continued looking for good and evil in relationship to intimacy with God and also began including belief and obedience. It was a muddled picture until I hit the book of Romans. Paul laid it all out for both good and evil and belief and obedience. Intimacy is directly related to belief and obedience. By the power of the Holy Spirit temptations and desires to do evil and “sin” are muted while eagerness and earnestness in doing good are amplified. There is a whole lot there, much more than can be covered in one mini-series much less the introduction to one episode. Let me cut this short and say I crested the mountain when I got to Ephesians 4:11-13 – And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.Paul was saying we are all to attain ultimately to the fullness of Christ. That is Union with God in-Christ; something that Jesus prayed for all believers in John 17. If we are all to attain to the fullness of Christ “ALL” includes all believers not just “super” saints. I'm one of the “ALL” so how do I get to Union with God?

Welcome to Episode #134 of Way of the Bible podcast. This is our sixth of eight episodes in our seventeenth mini-series, The Man Jesus Christ.  On this episode we're going to look at what the scriptures reveal about Jesus calling disciples and choosing some to follow him. Jesus said in Matthew 22:14 – For many are called, but few are chosen.Last episode we looked at Jesus traveling with several of his disciples and demonstrating to them and to large crowds his Miracle Extravaganza. This week we're going to look at the earliest disciples called by Jesus and how they started following him.Over the past few episodes I've mentioned a method I've been using to develop intimacy with God our Father through Jesus Christ called Lectio Divina. This method was developed in the third century and used for almost two millennia to encounter the living word of God (scripture) and in so doing be in fellowship and union with God our Father through Jesus Christ our Lord. The best description of Lectio Divina I've encountered is in the late Eugene Peterson's 2009 publication, “Eat This Book.” I highly encourage the reading of this book front to back. Lectio Divina provides the guardrails that allow you to enter into the living word of God and find Jesus alive, well, and talkative. The guardrails include the assimilation, integration, and synthesis of text through reading, meditation, prayer, and contemplation. There is little rigidity regarding the order these four guardrails (reading, prayer, meditation, contemplation). They are engaged as one is led by the Spirit through the text. Go with the flow of the Spirit is the best counsel I could give.       As I go through the passages on this episode there will be little to no running commentary as I do not want to unduly influence your time with Jesus. That's right, I pray you to take the opportunity of spending time and have back and forth conversations with Jesus. This was not something I thought was possible until about four months ago. Since discovering the Lectio Divina method with the aid of an Ignatian Spiritual Exercise book I can testify that my prayer life and intimacy with Jesus have been dramatically improved. What I'm encouraging and praying you do is not to know more information about Jesus (which is not bad), but in the here and now to know the living Jesus more intimately, to love the living Jesus more intensely, and to following the living Jesus more closely. I've found these three pursuits of grace recommended by St. Ignatius to be very fruitful.

Welcome to Episode #133 of Way of the Bible podcast. This is our fifth of eight episodes in our seventeenth mini-series, The Man Jesus Christ.  On this episode we're going to look at what the scriptures reveal about Jesus' entrance into ministry. He didn't start with a whimper. To demonstrate the kingdom of God he was proclaiming Jesus kicked off with a Miracle Extravaganza! Before getting into our text today I want to frame the foundation of the podcast episodes for this and the next several mini-series. Jesus in his ministry called people to follow him; to become his disciples. He trained his disciples to show other people also how to follow him [Jesus] after he returned to heaven. The disciples of the disciples “all” following the same Rabbi, teacher, Jesus trained others how to follow Jesus up to today. But how is one supposed to follow a guy that lived over two millennia ago? Jesus had that covered from the very beginning. He told his disciples in John 14:16 – But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. John tells us in 1 John 2:27 – But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him. From these two passages we learn that the Holy Spirit that abides in believers will teach them all things, bring to remembrance all that Jesus said, and teach them about everything. All things, all that Jesus said, and everything are pretty all inclusive.Jesus disciples literally followed him around listening to his preaching, seeing and hearing his interactions with people, and witnessing his performance of great signs and wonders. He would question them from time to time as to their thoughts and provide feedback. He had his disciples participate with him in the feeding of the multitudes. He eventually sent his disciples out two by two to do what they had been seeing him do. They went and did as Jesus had done, and they all returned amazed.Paul tells his disciple Timothy, his follower of Jesus he's training in  2 Timothy 3:14-17 – But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.By the third century, monastic monks had formalized a discipleship they practiced to follow Jesus. It included the reading of scripture in the Spirit, prayer/conversation with Jesus through the Spirit regarding the text read, meditation on the text with the Spirit's guidance, and finally contemplation of the text throughout the day. With the Holy Spirit as your guide, it is simply sitting at the feet of Jesus and learning from him through his word. The name of this practice is Lectio Divina. Look it up as there is a lot written that is helpful to get you started on the Way into the heart of the Father.

“Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. — Revelation 1:7 Did you notice the quotations in the text of Revelation 1:7? Those phrases come from Old Testament books of prophecy, and John uses them to remind his readers that Jesus' mission was foretold long before he came. Daniel 7:13-14 gives us a prophetic look at the Son of Man (Jesus Christ) “coming with the clouds of heaven” and taking his place with the “Ancient of Days” (God the Father). The Father gives the Son all authority over a kingdom “that will never be destroyed.” And Zechariah 12:10 speaks of “the one they have pierced” (Jesus—see also Isaiah 53:5; John 19:34). The prophet says that God's people will see what they have done to the Son of Man, and they will mourn because of it. This repentant attitude is a result of God's grace. And God counts the shed blood of Jesus as the payment for all our sin, even the sins of those who have not yet believed in him. The God who speaks is “the Alpha and the Omega,” the one “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Jesus is the Savior and Lord of the church. From his position and authority he leads his church still today. In Christ, the church will stand firm and stand up against its enemies and their threats. Church of Jesus Christ, stand firm today and always. Almighty, eternal God, you led the authors of your Word to write history, prophecy, songs, and letters to reveal your love, power, and salvation. Thank you! Amen.

Welcome to Episode #132 of Way of the Bible podcast. This is our fourth of eight episodes in our seventeenth mini-series, The Man Jesus Christ.  On this episode we're going to look at what the scriptures reveal about Jesus' transition from a private secluded life in Nazareth to active ministry in Galilee. On our first episode of this mini-series, I introduced biblical Christian discipleship. Salvation, often promoted as the central message of Jesus, is only the entrance into eternal life in the Kingdom of God now! Jesus brought salvation. He taught about living life in the Kingdom of God as a child of God, saved by grace through faith (i.e. Salvation). This type of living is described in Hebrews Chapter 4 as entering the seventh day rest of God. Hebrews 4:11 - Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience. (Unbelief).Central to our entering that rest is to walk in the yoke of Jesus through our interaction with the living and active eternal word of God; the Bible. The word of God, the Holy Spirit, and the presence of Christ where two or more are gathered, all guide us. In the yoke, I am not to be pulling Jesus to my messes and telling him to clean them up. In the yoke, I am not to demand my wants telling Jesus he owes me. Jesus is doing all the pulling and heavy lifting. I simply walk in his presence and follow where he leads. What about learning from those I've been listening to? What about you listening to me right now? For us both, our learning and rest come from having Jesus are our primary teacher and burden bearer. That's the first huge oyster to swallow; but it goes down easy. Does it mean we stop listening to others or that you turn off this podcast; NO! We are to take every thought we have on our own or gained from another and make it obedient to Christ. How can we do that if we don't know what Jesus said. The apostle John said in 1 John 2:6 – whoever says he abides in him [Jesus] ought to walk in the same way in which he [Jesus] walked. What does that mean? As we walk out each day, let us walk in the manner of Jesus, doing what Jesus does. And we'll know what Jesus did by studying and meditating upon the gospels. We will offer our bodies daily as living sacrifices holy and pleasing to God and allow him to transform the way we think so we will know his good pleasing and perfect will. For the past seventeen weeks I've been following prompts of Spiritual Exercises and daily Scriptural readings from a workbook called The Ignatian Adventure, by Kevin O'Brien, SJ. In this workbook, The Spiritual Exercise prompts provide the bible passages to read and what to consider for prayer and meditation. Central to the Exercises is the ancient Lectio Divina method of scriptural reading, meditation and prayer intended to promote communion with God and to increase the knowledge of God's word. This method was first practiced by the monastics in the 3rd Century and has been carried forward to the 21st Century as I am a witness and now practicing. Lectio Divina does not consider Scripture as something to be studied for information's sake. Rather, it considers Scripture as the living word of God. The living word that calls out to mankind to encounter and plumb the depths of God's revelation. These depths are bottomless, containing “ALL TRUTH” God has deemed profitable for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. To the end that in discipleship by the word and in the word we would, “all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ” (Eph 4:13)I encourage you after this episode to go look up Lectio Divina. It is not Bible Study where you interpret the Bible theologically or historically. It is a personal one-on-one conversation with God throug

Welcome to Episode #131 of Way of the Bible podcast. This is our third of eight episodes in our seventeenth mini-series, The Man Jesus Christ.  On this episode we're going to look at what the scriptures reveal about Jesus from his birth until he started his ministry. As we'll see there is not much in volume of text but what is there is rich in content. The title of this episode is Babe to Son of Man. As we covered on our last episode, Jesus was incarnated in the womb of Mary by the Holy Spirit. His birth was prophesied by the angel Gabriel who visited Zechariah, John the Baptist's father. Gabriel prophesied in Luke 1:16-17 – And he [Zechariah's son to be, John] will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, 17 and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared.” Shortly after John was born Zechariah prophesied over his son at his circumcision ceremony. Luke 1:76-77 – And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High; for you will go before the Lord to prepare his ways, 77 to give knowledge of salvation to his people. As a reminder, what we're doing on this and many mini-series in the future is to look more closely, go more slowing, and examine more fully the life and ministry of Jesus Christ our Lord. How can we follow one we do not know. Knowing is gained by seeing in the gospels HOW Jesus did, What he did, Where he did, When he did, Why he did and with Who he did all the things recorded for us.I will present Scriptures for us to consider this episode with little running commentary. I encourage you to purposefully carve out time regularly (daily, weekly, etc.) to intentionally spend time with God in prayer, meditation, and fellowship and discuss with him one or more of the texts you hear. Allow Jesus to be your teacher through the Holy Spirit given to you for just that purpose. As we read, pray over, and meditate on the gospel scriptures we want to be having a running conversation with our Father and Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. We want to allow our mental imagery and all five senses to experience the accounts with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In our meditations let the Spirit teach us what we need to know about Jesus for our own faith journey ahead. Then in fellowship ask our Father and Jesus Christ what you are curious about. Give them time and room to respond; as surely they will. With all that as a brief introduction let's get started.

Welcome to Episode #130 of Way of the Bible podcast. This is our second of eight episodes in our seventeenth mini-series, The Man Jesus Christ.  On this episode we're going to examine scriptures that reveal Jesus was not unexpected. We noted often throughout our 112 episodes that overviewed both the Old and New Testaments that ALL scripture speaks of and points to Jesus. The title of this episode is Guess Who's Coming to Earth? The Jewish religious elites knew someone was coming but they did not receive Jesus as the promised Christ. Rather, they shut the door in his face, claimed he was possessed by the devil, and had the Romans impale him on a cross. Beginning with this Episode we are starting down the PATH of Christian Discipleship and/or Spiritual Formation. We will be traveling along the WAY that leads to intimacy and union with God. Along the WAY we learn to remain in the yoke of Jesus while walking in the kingdom of God. We learn to live under the reign of God and obey his commands through the power of the Holy Spirit. We learn to live in the world but not be of the world. We learn that living in the will of God results in a life that is joyful always, prayerful continually, and thankful in all circumstances for God's will is good, acceptable, and perfect.

The first meeting will be to go deeper together in the materials covered during the current episode. The second meeting will be for general podcast questions and sharing of faith and prayer. Both meetings are meant for our mutual encouragement in the faith and deepening our knowledge of the Son of God. If you're interested in attending either meeting, please go to the Contact Page on my Website, WayoftheBible.com, and let me know of your interest in one or both meetings. I'll send more information and weekly updates with meeting days, times, and links for meeting entry. There is no requirement to attend the meetings, just know I'm available if you'd like to grow in grace and faith together.I didn't record or release a podcast during the month of December 2023 and the first week of January 2024. I took the time normally spent on this podcast to complete the manuscript of a Christian fiction book I hope to publish this Spring. In that regard, if any of you know of an editor and/or literary agent for a Christian publisher please let me know as I'm in the market for both. I self-published a coaching book on Amazon in 2021 and would prefer to work now with a professional; I know my own limits.During December I also did additional study into the topic of Christian discipleship. It was in additional studies a new facet of a well-known but unexplored reality opened to me. Not just opened, but enveloped and swallowed me. That reality has to do with Jesus making available life in the kingdom of heaven/God now; where God reigns over my heart, mind, soul, and strength. Point being, Jesus not only brought salvation to mankind, he made available the reign of God in the lives of normal humans like you and me.Christian discipleship is a life-long process of learning directly from Jesus and the Holy Spirit the lessons of Jesus that allow us to walk as he walked in obedience to our Father and his commands. As we learn from Christ we transformed more and more toward what Paul called in Ephesians 4:13 – to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.Christian discipleship is not about following rules, checking boxes, or meeting a standard of behavior identified by an individual, committee, or denomination. It is about submitting to the Lord Jesus Christ as his student and being responsible only to him for learning, transformation, and assignment of calling. This is what Jesus called his disciples to do – to make disciples of all nations.

Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Romans 5:17-19 KJV 'For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But because one other person obeyed God, many will be made righteous.' Romans 5:17-19 NLT ' For if because of one man's trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God's] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). Well then, as one man's trespass [one man's false step and falling away led] to condemnation for all men, so one Man's act of righteousness [leads] to acquittal and right standing with God and life for all men. For just as by one man's disobedience (failing to hear, heedlessness, and carelessness) the many were constituted sinners, so by one Man's obedience the many will be constituted righteous (made acceptable to God, brought into right standing with Him).' Romans 5:17-19 AMPC 'So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God. ' “Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.” Romans 7:4 KJV “So, my dear brothers and sisters, this is the point: You died to the power of the law when you died with Christ. And now you are united with the one who was raised from the dead. As a result, we can produce a harvest of good deeds for God.” Romans 7:4 NLT “Likewise, my brethren, you have undergone death as to the Law through the [crucified] body of Christ, so that now you may belong to Another, to Him Who was raised from the dead in order that we may bear fruit for God.” Romans 7:4 AMPC “I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;” 1 Corinthians 1:4 KJV “I always thank my God for you and for the gracious gifts he has given you, now that you belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Corinthians 1:4 NLT “I thank my God at all times for you because of the grace (the favor and spiritual blessing) of God which was bestowed on you in Christ Jesus,” 1 Corinthians 1:4 AMPC “And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;” 2 Corinthians 5:18 KJV “And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.” 2 Corinthians 5:18 NLT “But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him].” 2 Corinthians 5:18 AMPC “knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” Galatians 2:16 KJV “Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law. And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law. For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law.”” Galatians 2:16 NLT “Yet we know that a man is justified or reckoned righteous and in right standing with God not by works of the Law, but [only] through faith and [absolute] reliance on and adherence to and trust in Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). [Therefore] even we [ourselves] have believed on Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the Law [for we cannot be justified by any observance of the ritual of the Law given by Moses], because by keeping legal rituals and by works no human being can ever be justified (declared righteous and put in right standing with God). The Word (of God) is akin to the water or snow that falls on the earth and when it gets mixed with the earth (the faith of man), eventually it brings forth the fruit that the Word declared from heaven intended. The Word, with the cooperation and willing submission of man, is to execute the Lord's will (His pleasure), show the Lord's ways (His manner of life), and manifest God's works in the earth. The Man Jesus Christ epitomized that for us all.Support the showWebsite: ourfathersheart.orgPodcast: https://www.ourfathersheart.org/podcast or https://ourfathersheart.buzzsprout.com/shareYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_4PEL5CenmViSz2zjH3M6wRumble Channel: https://rumble.com/c/c-877845

A miracle of God is an extraordinary or unnatural event that reveals or confirms a specific message through a mighty work. Jesus performed plenty of miracles. All the miracles He did were to glorify God, help others, and prove that He was indeed who He said He was—the Son of God. When He calmed the storm in Matthew 8, for example, the disciples were astonished and they asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!” (verse 27).   The Gospels record many of the miracles that Jesus performed. Of course, many of the things that Jesus did could not have been recorded in such short works. John freely admits, “Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book…Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written” (John 20:30 and 21:25).   Different Gospels often record the same miracles, with each one giving slightly different details. Sometimes, it is impossible to know if a particular miracle recorded in the Gospels is simply one miracle recorded from different angles or if two separate miracles are being recorded. None of the Gospel writers are particularly concerned with strict chronology, and they sometimes do not give us all the details we might be interested to know.   The miracles Jesus performed and listed below have been grouped into broad categories with accompanying references without attempting to determine which miracles are recorded multiple times and which may be unique to each of the Gospels:   Miracles of Healing Lepers cleansed: Matthew 8:1–4; Mark 1:41–45; Luke 5:12–14; 17:11–19 Blind receive sight: Matthew 9:27–31; Mark 8:22–26; 10:46–52 Luke 18:35–43; John 9:1–38 People are healed from a distance: Matthew 8:5–13; Luke 7:2–10; John 4:46–54 Peter's mother-in-law healed: Mark 1:29–31 Paralyzed man healed: Matthew 9:1–8; Mark 2:1–12; Luke 5:17–26 People touching Jesus' clothing are healed: Matthew 9:20–23; 14:35–36; Mark 5:25–34; 6:53–56; Luke 8:43–48 Various healings on the Sabbath: Mark 3:1–6; Luke 6:6–10; 13:10–17; 14:1–6; John 5:1–18 Deaf and mute man healed: Mark 7:31–37 Cut-off ear is repaired: Luke 22:47–53 Demons cast out (and specific physical ailments accompanying the demons healed): Matthew 9:32–33; 17:14–18; Mark 9:14–29; Luke 9:37–42 Demons cast out (no specific physical ailments mentioned): Matthew 8:28–34; 15:21–28; Mark 1:23–27; 5:1–20; 7:24–30; Luke 4:31–37; 8:26–39 Multitudes healed: Matthew 9:35; 15:29–31; Mark 1:32–34; 3:9–12; Luke 6:17–19 The dead raised to life: Matthew 9:18–26; Mark 5:21–43; Luke 8:40–56; John 11:1–45   Other Miracles Multitudes fed (food multiplies): Matthew 14:13–21; 15:32–39; Mark 6:33–44; 8:1–10; Luke 9:12–17; John 6:1–14 Walks on water: Matthew 14:22–33 (Peter too); Mark 6:45–52; John 6:15–21 Calms a storm: Matthew 8:22–25; Mark 4:35–41; Luke 8:22–25 Fills nets with fish: Luke 5:1–11; John 21:1–14 Peter catches fish with money in its mouth (for the temple tax): Matthew 17:24–27 Turns water to wine: John 2:1–11 Cursed tree withers: Matthew 21:18–22; Mark 11:12–25   From the list above, we see that the vast majority of miracles recorded in the Gospels were miracles of healing. While those who received the healing were relieved of their physical ailments, the stated purpose of the miracles is rarely ever the simple alleviation of physical suffering. The miracle of healing always points to a greater truth, namely, that Jesus is the Son of God with authority. When He casts out demons, His authority over them is emphasized. When He heals on the Sabbath, His authority as Lord of the Sabbath is emphasized. Likewise, many of the miracles emphasize Jesus' authority over nature.   There is no better way to study the miracles of Jesus than to read through the Gospels and make a list of each miracle and the explanation that is provided. (For instance, in John 2 we read of Jesus turning water into wine. That miracle did alleviate a potential embarrassment for the host and it did appease His mother who asked Him to get involved, but the primary result is recorded in verse 11: “What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.”) Sometimes the purpose of a miracle is given directly, and sometimes it is recorded in the response of those who saw it. Jesus never performed miracles for the sake of putting on a show. Every miracle pointed to a greater truth. John especially emphasized this point by referring to Jesus' miracles as “signs.”   The feeding of the 5,000 is just one example. John 6 begins by saying that people were following Jesus because they saw the signs. One would think this is a good thing. Jesus goes on to feed the multitude, over 5,000 men plus women and children, with just five loaves and two fish. Then, He slipped away in the night.   The next morning, the people went looking for Him. Jesus, however, is not impressed and confronts their selfish motives for seeking Him: “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill” (John 6:26). There is some irony here. They were seeking Jesus because they had a free meal as the result of a miracle. No doubt they thought that this was a pretty good arrangement. If Jesus would continue to feed them, all would be well. Jesus, however, says that they did not truly see the “sign.” They saw the miracle, yet they could not see past the loaves and fish. The “sign” Jesus performed signifies something greater. Although the multitudes saw and partook of the miracle, they missed the sign that was to point them to Jesus, the Bread of Life. Throughout the ministry of Jesus, many people saw His miracles as ends in themselves rather than pointing to something greater.         37 Miracles of Jesus in Chronological Order These miracles of Jesus Christ are essentially presented in chronological order. 37 Miracles of Jesus # Miracle Matthew Mark Luke John 1 Jesus turns water into wine at the wedding in Cana       2:1-11 2 Jesus heals an official's son at Capernaum in Galilee       4:43-54 3 Jesus drives out an evil spirit from a man in Capernaum   1:21-27 4:31-36   4 Jesus heals Peter's mother-in-law sick with fever 8:14-15 1:29-31 4:38-39   5 Jesus heals many sick and oppressed at evening 8:16-17 1:32-34 4:40-41   6 First miraculous catch of fish on the Lake of Gennesaret     5:1-11   7 Jesus cleanses a man with leprosy 8:1-4 1:40-45 5:12-14   8 Jesus heals a centurion's paralyzed servant in Capernaum 8:5-13   7:1-10   9 Jesus heals a paralytic who was let down from the roof 9:1-8 2:1-12 5:17-26   10 Jesus heals a man's withered hand on the Sabbath 12:9-14 3:1-6 6:6-11   11 Jesus raises a widow's son from the dead in Nain     7:11-17   12 Jesus calms a storm on the sea 8:23-27 4:35-41 8:22-25   13 Jesus casts demons into a herd of pigs 8:28-33 5:1-20 8:26-39   14 Jesus heals a woman in the crowd with an issue of blood 9:20-22 5:25-34 8:42-48   15 Jesus raises Jairus' daughter back to life 9:18, 23-26 5:21-24, 35-43 8:40-42, 49-56   16 Jesus heals two blind men 9:27-31       17 Jesus heals a man who was unable to speak 9:32-34       18 Jesus heals an invalid at Bethesda       5:1-15 19 Jesus feeds 5,000 plus women and children 14:13-21 6:30-44 9:10-17 6:1-15 20 Jesus walks on water 14:22-33 6:45-52   6:16-21 21 Jesus heals many sick in Gennesaret as they touch his garment 14:34-36 6:53-56     22 Jesus heals a gentile woman's demon-possessed daughter 15:21-28 7:24-30     23 Jesus heals a deaf and dumb man   7:31-37     24 Jesus feeds 4,000 plus women and children 15:32-39 8:1-13     25 Jesus heals a blind man at Bethsaida   8:22-26     26 Jesus heals a man born blind by spitting in his eyes       9:1-12 27 Jesus heals a boy with an unclean spirit 17:14-20 9:14-29 9:37-43   28 Miraculous temple tax in a fish's mouth 17:24-27       29 Jesus heals a blind, mute demoniac 12:22-23   11:14-23   30 Jesus heals a woman who had been crippled for 18 years     13:10-17   31 Jesus heals a man with dropsy on the sabbath     14:1-6   32 Jesus cleanses ten lepers on the way to Jerusalem     17:11-19   33 Jesus raises Lazarus from the dead in Bethany       11:1-45 34 Jesus restores sight to Bartimaeus in Jericho 20:29-34 10:46-52 18:35-43   35 Jesus withers the fig tree on the road from Bethany 21:18:22 11:12-14     36 Jesus heals a servant's severed ear while he is being arrested     22:50-51   37 The second miraculous catch of fish at the Sea of Tiberias       21:4-11 Many people desire miracles from God. They want God to perform miracles to “prove” Himself to them. “If only God would perform a miracle, sign, or wonder, then I would believe!” This idea, though, is contradicted by Scripture. When God performed amazing and powerful miracles for the Israelites, did that cause them to obey Him? No, the Israelites constantly disobeyed and rebelled against God even though they saw all the miracles. The same people who saw God part the Red Sea later doubted whether God was able to conquer the inhabitants of the Promised Land. This truth is explained in Luke 16:19-31. In the story, a man in hell asks Abraham to send Lazarus back from the dead to warn his brothers. Abraham informed the man, “If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead” (Luke 16:31). Jesus performed countless miracles, yet the vast majority of people did not believe in Him. If God performed miracles today as He did in the past, the result would be the same. People would be amazed and would believe in God for a short time. That faith would be shallow and would disappear the moment something unexpected or frightening occurred. A faith based on miracles is not a mature faith. God performed the greatest “God miracle” of all time in coming to earth as the Man Jesus Christ to die on the cross for our sins (Romans 5:8) so that we could be saved (John 3:16). God does still perform miracles—many of them simply go unnoticed or are denied. However, we do not need more miracles. What we need is to believe in the miracle of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. The purpose of miracles was to authenticate the performer of the miracles. Acts 2:22 declares, “Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know.” The same is said of the apostles, “The things that mark an apostle—signs, wonders and miracles—were done among you with great perseverance” (2 Corinthians 12:12). Speaking of the gospel, Hebrews 2:4 proclaims, “God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.” We now have the truth of Jesus recorded in Scripture. We now have the writings of the apostles recorded in Scripture. Jesus and His apostles, as recorded in Scripture, are the cornerstone and foundation of our faith (Ephesians 2:20). In this sense, miracles are no longer necessary, as the message of Jesus and His apostles has already been attested to and accurately recorded in the Scriptures. Yes, God still performs miracles. At the same time, we should not necessarily expect miracles to occur today just as they did in Bible times.

HIS ASCENSION AND OUR Union Luke 24:51 King James Version 51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. HIS ASCENSION AND OUR Union We have no corresponding experience to the events in Our Lord's life after the Transfiguration, From then onwards Our Lord's life was altogether vicarious. Up to the time of the Transfiguration He had exhibited the normal perfect life of a man; from the Transfiguration onwards—Gethsemane, the Cross, the Resurrection—everything is unfamiliar to us. His Cross is the door by which every member of the human race can enter into the life of God; by His Resurrection He has the right to give eternal life to any man, and by His Ascension Our Lord enters heaven and keeps the door open for humanity. HIS ASCENSION AND OUR Union On the Mount of Ascension the Transfiguration is completed. If Jesus had gone to heaven from the Mount of Transfiguration, He would have gone alone; He would have been nothing more to us than a glorious Figure. But He turned His back on the glory, and came down from the Mount to identify Himself with fallen humanity. - HIS ASCENSION AND OUR Union The Ascension is the consummation of the Trans-figuration. Our Lord does now go back into His primal Glory; but He does not go back simply as Son of Man as well as Son of God. There is now freedom of access for anyone straight to the very throne of God by the Ascenion of the Son of Man Jesus Christ deliberately limited omnipotence, omnipresence and omniscience in Himself. Now they are His in absolute power. As Son of Man Jesus Christ has at the throne of God. We continue to look at the Man Jesus Christ through the eyes of the apostles, but our focus shifts from Paul to Peter, Thomas, and John.  As we continue to bring multiple witnesses testifying of the true identity of this Man, we are reminded of the scriptures that state, "by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established." When we consider all of the evidence from the many witnesses who walked and talked with Jesus, we come to the conclusion and render a verdict as to the identity of the Man Jesus Christ and what do we need to do to properly apply our faith toward God.https://www.ourfathersheart.org/faith-toward-god Website: ourfathersheart.orgPodcast: https://www.ourfathersheart.org/podcastYouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_4PEL5CenmViSz2zjH3M6wRumble Channel: https://rumble.com/c/c-877845Please visit Our Father's Heart for more information and if you would like to support our efforts you can do so through Paypal (Paypal.me/jbenjesus), Cash App ($jbenjesus), or Venmo (@jbenjesus). Support the show (https://paypal.me/jbenjesus?locale.x=en_US)

Today, Wednesday February 3 – Romans 5:12-21 Skeptics sometimes ask, "Was it fair for God to condemn the whole world just because of one man's disobedience?" The answer, of course, is that it was not only fair; but it was also wise and gracious. To begin with, if God had tested each human being individually, the result would have been the same: disobedience. But even more important, by condemning the human race through one man (Adam), God was then able to save the human race through one Man (Jesus Christ)! Each of us is racially united to Adam, so that his deed affects us. We see an example of this in Hebrews 7:9-10 “Even Levi, who receives tithes, paid tithes through Abraham, so to speak, for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.” The fallen angels cannot be saved because they are not a race. They sinned individually and were judged individually. There can be no representative to take their judgment for them and save them. But because you and I were lost in Adam, our racial head, we can be saved in Christ, the Head of the new creation. God's plan was both gracious and wise. Let's give thanks to the Lord today for His great plan of redemption and tell others about it! God bless!

Romans 5:17,AMP- “For if because of one man's trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive God's overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness, putting them into right standing with Himself, reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). Much more surely those who receive God’s overflowing grace will reign as kings in life through Christ. This is why Jesus wants us putting the things of the Kingdom first, each of us have an assignment from Him that will absolutely require that we be governed by His system, not the one of this world. Matthew 16:19,NKJV-  And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. In Mark 5, Jesus commands wind and water, then the demon in the Gadareen recognized the authority in Jesus. And in Luke 10 Jesus said, “I give you authority over all the power of the enemy.” Unlike that time in history, today because of the power of the church we deal more with demonic influence that possession. This is why the apostle James teaches us to not just be hearers of God’s word, but doers. As the born again of the Lord, we’re designed to live a different way, created by Him to bare fruit. Truth is we are chosen by God for an assignment. 1 Peter 2:9,NKJV- “But you are a CHOSEN generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” CHOSEN- (gr. Eklektos) picked out for special privilege and assignment. This is why in Luke, Jesus says, “It has been given to you, My chosen ones to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven. Revelation 5, You are worthy for You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood and have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth. God’s plan has always been for His people to establish Kingdom dominion and represent Him to the rest of the world. Romans 5, Much more surely those who receive God's overflowing grace and free gift of righteousness, will reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). We have to become more righteous conscious, because righteousness is literally a spiritual force that cannot be contented with. If you’re born again you are right with God. Start thinking, “Sonship” because the enemy will be relentless at trying to keep us sin conscious. The danger with that type of thinking is that the longer we stay sin conscious, the less we’ll be son conscious. Romans 5:1-2,NLT-  “Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory.” 2 Corinthians 3:18,NKJV- “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” And now that Jesus, the last Adam has placed us back in right standing with God, we’ve got to go back to God’s original assignment which is to replenish the earth, subdue it, and have dominion over it. And this is why God makes statements like He does in Romans 5, the righteous are to reign is this live as kings. Genesis 1:31,NKJV- Then God saw everything He had made, and indeed it was very good. What every born again must come to terms with is that in Christ we’ve been brought back to this original design, its simply in seed form and has to grow, so let it grow! Remember, everything within the Kingdom works according to seed time. While I’m here, be aware that our enemy will continually try planting in our life. Like he did in the garden. Example. Children of Israel were delivered out of Egypt, but Egypt was still in the them. (Calf) We have to keep this in mind, God’s word is incorruptible seed and if we plant His seed and stay with it, we will be changed. Remember Corinthians, “Same image” Let’s make sure we’re speaking seeds of faith into our soul, its the only way the Kingdom operates. Let’s make sure we’re putting faith on what we say. Remember, our tongue is the rudder of our life. Talk from a Kingdom perspective. Luke 17:5-6,NKJV- “And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.” According to the apostle Paul, the perfect law of liberty will show us what we’re suppose to be like. The world is waiting on the sons and daughters of God to manifest His Kingdom. But because of the way the Kingdom works, we have to continually monitor what our soul is exposed to, it could very easily become seed that produces in our lives. Matthew 12:33-37,NKJV- Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. God absolutely expects us to represent our Kingdom right now. Right in the middle of kingdoms of this world rising and falling. Our difference is, according to Psalms is that the Kingdom of God is an everlasting Kingdom. Revelation 11:15,NKJV- ... “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” Daniel 7:27,NKJV- Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And all dominions shall serve and obey Him. This is why Jesus came preaching the Kingdom of Heaven, assigning all His followers to do the same, because very soon these two passages are going to be fulfilled.  And this is why He commands us to put the Kingdom first. 1 Peter 2:9,NKJV- “But you are a CHOSEN generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” Because we are chosen by Him, let’s make sure we’re speaking seeds of faith into our soul, its the only way the Kingdom operates. Let’s make sure we’re putting faith on what we say. Remember, our tongue is the rudder of our life. Talk from a Kingdom perspective. As we wrap up today, possibly the key to everything pertaining to God’s Kingdom all hinges on the reality that faith, which is the only way into the Kingdom works through love. Luke 17:5-6,NKJV- “And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.” This is why the disciples in Luke as Jesus to increase their faith, He was telling them to forgive, unconditionally. In other words to walk in love, which is actually who God is. Galatians 5:6,NIV- “...The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” Faith only works through love. Galatians 5:14,NKJV- “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Paul told the religious people in his letter to the Roman church that walking in love fulfills all the OT law. James 2:8,NKJV- If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 2 Corinthians 3:18,NKJV- “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.” This means that the more we are transformed, the more love will be recognizable in our lives. Remember, Jesus told us a tree is known by its fruit.

Daily Voice Devotional with Niyi Adekunle

Saturday 7th November,2020. A beautiful Saturday to you in the name of Jesus. We thank God for His life, strength, peace and presence with us in Jesus name. We are still talking about Team Trinity and the many lessons we learn from our wonderful God, the Godhead. The three that walk in perfect unity, harmony and oneness Yesterday, we saw how Jesus brought oneness into mankind bringing the Jews and the Gentiles into one, taking the wall of partition away so we can be one people, walking with one God, reflecting the oneness of the Trinity. Today, we'll read 1 Tim 2:5(NLT) 5"For,There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus" Who is that? The man Christ Jesus. One God, that's the Trinity, the Godhead and one Mediator who reconciled God and humanity - One man who reconciled humanity and divinity - The Man Jesus Christ. To reconcile means to bring together, make peace or make one. Jesus Christ, a member of the Trinity brings oneness between mankind and God. It's something miraculous, a complete show of love. One of them chose to take up human flesh. Jesus, the Word, became fully God and man. Paul talking about this in 1 Tim 3:16 (NLT) says "16.Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith Christ was revealed in a human body and vindicated by the Spirit. He was seen by angels and announced to the nations. He was believed in throughout the world and taken to heaven in glory".. The mystery is this, God became man. One member of the Trinity took on human flesh and became the man Jesus Christ. When He finished on earth, He went back to heaven again as a man. So today, amongst the Trinity is a man- fully man and fully God. That's why God can feel our pain and struggle why? In the Trinity today, there is man there. So the bible says in the book of Hebrews "we do not have a High Priest that cannot be touched by the feeling of our weakness" Why? There is man among them, so when you are tired, weak and under pressure He can understand even though it's not an excuse to sin. There is man among the Trinity so He can bring oneness between God and man. Just God took on humanity so that humanity can take on divinity through the finished work of Jesus Christ. We call it partakers of the divine nature. So we can see God uniting all men together through Jesus Christ, again, God uniting mankind and God, reconciling man back to God. What an amazing lesson we learn from Team Trinity. Let's be with one with another and let's be one with God. God bless you! Have a lovely day.

Matthew 6:33,NLT- “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” MSG- Steep your life in God-reality, God-initiative, God-provisions. Don’t worry about missing out. You’ll find all your everyday human concerns will be met. Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now. The main reason Jesus made this statement is because God has an assignment for every one of us that will absolutely require that we be governed by His system, not the one of this world. In Matthew 18, Jesus tells us that anyone who will humble themself and become like a little child will the greatest in the Kingdom. Remember, Jesus told us everything pertaining to the Kingdom of Heaven is like someone sowed a seed. So if we’re ever going to take part in the things of the Kingdom, if we’re going to fulfill our God ordained assignment, we’ve got to have these conversations. Talk about it, think about it until we begin experiencing a life of the supernatural, of the Kingdom. Our thinking has to be renewed because the truth is, everyone of us go in the direction of our most dominate thoughts. And according to Jesus, the Kingdom of God is in us and it’s brought into this realm through believing and speaking. In God’s Kingdom words are so much more than communication. Words actually contain spiritual reality. Think about it, we’re born of incorruptible word. This is why Jesus told us that if we would believe what we say would come to pass, we would have what we say. But right believing and right speaking starts with right thinking. “As a man thinks...” The soul of a human is the governor of our life. It consists of our mind and will, and it works in connection with our spirit. This means, thoughts are spiritual. Here’s a perfect example, how many times did Jesus address issues with a person directly from their thoughts. Thoughts are seeds. And make no mistake our enemy will be relentless attacking our thoughts. And this is why James tells us we cannot continue to live double-minded and expect to function in a different reality. James 1:7-8,MSG- If you don’t know what you’re doing, pray to the Father. He loves to help. You’ll get His help, and won’t be condescended to when you ask for it. Ask boldly, believingly, without a second thought. People who “worry their prayers” are like wind-whipped waves. Don’t think you’re going to get anything from the Master that way, adrift at sea, keeping all your options open.” John gives us further insight with his statement, “As our soul prospers,” so we have to ask ourselves, what’s the dominant influence in our soul. How single minded would you say you are concerning the Kingdom? So, as each of us as people of God grow to the place where we’re seeking, steeping our life in Kingdom realities, putting the things of God first, praying His Kingdom come, His will be done, the more effective our influence becomes. I think at the end of the day, everything about our talk, everything concerning the Kingdom hinges on this question that Jesus asked, “Who do you say that I am?” Matthew 16:13-19,NKJV-  “When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” v.14, So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”v.15, He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” v.16, Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” v.17, Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. v. 18, And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. v.19, And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”” v.19,NLT- “And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven. Whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” v.19,MSG- “And that’s not all. You will have complete and free access to God’s kingdom, keys to open any and every door: no more barriers between heaven and earth, earth and heaven. A yes on earth is yes in heaven. A no on earth is no in heaven.” Jesus, our King said, “I will give you the keys of the Kingdom. Keys are principles, precepts and laws. They also represent authority and dominion, which was transferred to us at the great commission. They are the proclaimed word of the King. Psalm 19:7-8,NKJV- The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. This is why the apostle James teaches us to not just be hearers of God’s word, but doers. God told Joshua, observe to do all that is written in His word. The Holy Spirit goes on to teach us just how to keep the corruption and pollution in this world from infiltrating our Kingdom, and that’s by continually proclaiming His praises. Why is this talk so crucial for now? I believe God wants each of us to examine our own life to determine just what we know about this world we’ve been born into. Contrary to popular terminology, Christianity is not a religion!! Christian means like Him, born of his nature, seated with Him in Heavenly places, authorized to execute the His Kingdom in this world. And make no mistake, God does expect us to understand and execute our assignment. This is why in Luke, Jesus says, “It has been given to you, My chosen ones to know the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven. Revelation 5:9-10,NKJV- And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, “And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” King- A royal executive ordained for exercising dominion.Priest- A spiritual representative between God and His creation, responsible for His people’s spiritual well being. Thing is, both Adam and Jesus stood in both roles at the same time. God’s plan has always been for His people to establish Kingdom dominion and represent Him to the rest of the world. Isaiah 61, The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, that my people will be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified. You shall be named the priests of the LORD, servants of the Almighty.  According to Jesus we are children of God, joint heirs with Christ, seated with Him in Heavenly places in Christ. The apostle John tells us the we’ve been chosen by Jesus for an assignment. Philippians informs us that we are citizens of Heaven. Corinthians says we are ambassadors of Heaven on the earth. And Genesis lays the foundation that we’ve been created in His image and likeness. He told His creation to fill the earth, subdue it, have dominion over it. Genesis 1:31,NKJV- Then God saw everything He had made, and indeed it was very good. What every born again must come to terms with is that in Christ we’ve been brought back to this original design, its simply in seed form and has to grow, so let it grow! God absolutely expects us to represent our Kingdom right now. Right in the middle of kingdoms of this world rising and falling. But the Psalmist reminds us that the Kingdom of God is an everlasting Kingdom. Revelation 11:15,NKJV- “Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” Daniel 7:27,NKJV- Then the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High.

In the Old Testament we read about God's extreme holiness. We see a number of instances of fire raining down from heaven in judgment. Even for God's people, his holiness was extreme. We see in Isaiah that God placed a burning coal on his lips to purify him. The old vision of God was one of a consuming fire. Apart from the cases of God's judgment, as in Sodom and Gomorrah, or those directly entering God's presence, like Isaiah, we also see images of the coals (or the fire) of animal sacrifice the Israelites went through in order to purify themselves before a holy God.  In Galatians 3 Paul says, “23 Before the coming of this faith,[j] we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came that we might be justified by faith. 25 Now that this faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.” This old system is what guided us, though imperfectly, until a new system was established.  Leo Tolstoy was an advocate of extreme asceticism. The law tended to drive people to a similar sort of path as seen in the asceticism of the Pharisees in Jesus's day. But such a system doesn't work.  Turquoise supposedly protected its wearer. A sign of impending danger was that the color of the turquoise would change. Turquoise was often a religious totem viewed as imparting protection. There's a lot going on here. 1) The straightforward meaning is that whatever heavenly protection one thought they gained through their totem, sin is a corrupting force present in all of us. Sin is contrary to that which is from heaven. 2) “Effloresce” is a chemical term which means for crystals to form on a substance. This often happens through evaporation, and typically produces the formation of salts. In this sense, I am tapping into the idea of a color, hue, or tone change in our turquoise. When sin is present, it signifies impending harm or doom. 3) I use a lot of terms which one should associate with chemistry. Beyond “effloresce,” the word “asceticism” should trigger the close word “acetic,” as in acetic acid, as many often mistakenly call asceticism “aceticism.” Debased should trigger the thought of bases. When you mix an acid (acetic) with a base you get water and a salt. In this sense, I am saying that asceticism (an acid)  mixed with sin debasing (a base)  creates a perfect combination for our destruction. It was this combination which created the hardest of hearts not in prostitutes and sinners, but in the religious elite who didn't realize their debased sin natures, and attempted to approach God through their asceticism. Though this distillation process is the exact opposite of the one found in the “Amber” poem, where individuals become distilled through a compromising with culture, this opposite process also distills one's saltiness. In the “Amber” poem, the problem was that our saltiness became diluted through our submersion in and compromise with culture. In this poem, the saltiness is distilled from the water but is useless as it fails to be useful.  Turquoise was known as or associated with “pirouzeh” by the Persians (who lived in a land where turquoise was abundant), which means “victory.” They would use it on their armor and weapons.  This is a reference to the Ancient of Days and the Son of Man – Jesus Christ – as seen in Daniel and Revelation. Our victory is not in our asceticism, but in the victory of Christ.  The “Parousia” is a theological term for Christ's return in judgment, which is also when he comes in final victory (as in pirouzeh). When he returns he will separate the sheep from the goats, all hay and stubble will be burned while precious metals are refined, and evil will be no more. This is our hope.  Because of Christ's assured victory, we should pray in bold confidence. We don't pray because it merits us anything, but because God's Kingdom is assured and we want it to be on earth just as it is in heaven. We patiently await the Day of the Lord when all will be made right. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Revelation 12:1-6 Series: Just Conquer #33 # Introduction Who wants to be left behind? If you don't know, _Left Behind_ is a series of (16!) rapture fiction books, some of which became bestsellers. They were roundly mocked by serious literature people, as well as by those with different eschatology. But my question is not about what you want to read, it's about how you want to be perceived. Do you want other people to think that you are loving? You *should* (John 13:35). Do you want other people to think that you are hopeful? You *should* (1 Peter 3:15). Do you want other people to think that you are reasonable? You *should* (Philippians 4:5), even as “the Lord is at hand.” But do you also want them to think that you are on always on edge, that you act like you are in an invisible war, that you believe there are spiritual forces at work, that have been at work, that conspire together in a way to remake, and ruin, humanity? All of the above is what Bible believing Christians know, even if we prefer not to think, or talk too much about it because we're afraid others will call us unstable, or loony, or irrelevant. We might as well be with the Left Behind guys. In Revelation 12 we've not gone off the edge of the map, but here there be monsters. We look toward the second half of the Apocalypse, and this chapter is not only in the center of the book, it relates to the central conflict of all time. Here is the deep source of universal bitterness and strife. Here is a story in three sections, that answers why all of this trouble is happening. There is an underlying conflict for all the problems God's people endured in the OT, for the persecution of God's Messiah, and also for a coming generation of believers. We may hesitate to attribute too much to the devil. People who are always talking about the devil are often a bit sensational/dramatic, Charismatic, conspiratic. But our modern "maturity" and worldview that rejects angels and demons and gods and devils, comes from *unbelief*, not belief. As Martin Luther wrote in "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God," we have an ancient foe who seeks to work us woe. He is named and described and portrayed in Revelation 12 as a "great red dragon," the devil, the accuser of the brethren. He has been seeking to devour for a long time and he is, and will be, *furious* (his *wrath* in verse 12, *furious* in verse 17), even though the end of his story has already been written. Revelation 12 reminds us that we are in a long battle that we didn't enlist in, but that we cannot escape from. There has been a long animosity against God and His people. Part of the purpose of the chapter is to help “Christian readers perceive that behind their earthly persecutors stand forces of spiritual evil, led by the devil himself.” But our troubles happen “not because Satan is too powerful for them but because he has been decisively overthrown” (Beale). We have reason to conquer, because who wants to compromise with the loser? In verses 1-6 we're introduced to the main characters of the vision, verses 7-12 describe a war between angelic forces, and 13-17 tell us more about persecution. # More Than a Woman (verses 1-2) Two "signs" appear in this paragraph. The word **sign** is an interpretive clue. Of course not every author needs to be so obvious and point out his analogies, illustrations, and symbols. But repeatedly in Revelation that's exactly what John does, as here. Those who take Revelation as dominated by symbols put themselves in a corner where these comments about signs are as superfluous as trying to make something more white by pouring bleach on snow. This **great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars**. Does this remind you of anything you've heard before? It's an image from someone else's dream, that of Joseph in Genesis 37:9. The Lord showed Joseph a vision of his dad, Israel, as the sun, his mom, Rachel as the moon, and his eleven brothers as stars. With him added as the twelfth, the woman that John sees is not individual female, but God's chosen people, the twelve tribes of Israel. The **sign** is of a woman as a community. As a community, Israel longed for the promised child. **She was pregnant and was crying out in birth pains, and the agony of giving birth.** The Roman Catholic interpretation takes this as a reference to Mary, but the symbolism of verse 1 doesn't match. More significantly, the upcoming time in the wilderness and escape from the dragon is too cosmic to describe Egypt, let alone fleeing after the child has ascended to God (verse 4). Here is one example from the OT where Israel is compared to a pregnant woman: > Now why do you cry aloud? > Is there no king in you? > Has your counselor perished, > that pain seized you like a woman in labor? > Writhe and groan, O daughter of Zion, > like a woman in labor, > for now you shall go out from the city > and dwell in the open country; > you shall go to Babylon. > There you shall be rescued; > there the LORD will redeem you > from the hand of your enemies. > (Micah 4:9–10) “The Christian community could hardly be the mother of Jesus” (Thomas). The Jewish people longed for their a child, a son, who would be the Prince of Peace, who would rule on the throne of David (Isaiah 9:7). They suffered in many ways, due to their own sin, yes, and also due to their sworn enemy, whom we're about to meet. # Heads and Tail (verses 3-4) We are only introduced to this character in these verses; there is much more to come. The first sign was great, this is not a great sign but a sign of a **great dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven diadems.** This is more of a dragon than Bilbo or Eustace encountered. Many ancient cultures had dragon stories (Greek, Hittite, Egyptian, Phoenician, etc.)(Osborne). Daniel described this as a beast out of the sea (Daniel 13:1), and the heads, horns, and diadems will be explained in Revelation 17:9-10. A fun word fact: the Greek word for dragon is *drakon*, from which our English word "draconian" comes. There was a 7th century BC Athenian (Greek) man named Draco who wrote laws that were excessively harsh, but his name is from this word referring to a monster with power who devours. (Such draconian measures of the state are on display around us today.) The woman was actually a group. The dragon could also be taken as a group, except for the further descriptions of him in the following paragraphs. This dragon is “that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world.” He is “the accuser of our brothers” (verse 10). He is the serpent who tempted the first woman, Eve, in Genesis 3. That he is **red** probably has less to do with the fires of hell and more to do with the blood of his murderous work. Jesus said to the unbelieving Jews, “your father, the devil…was a murderer from the beginning” (John 8:44), referring to the devil's work through Cain. The dragon's **seven heads** are usually understood as seven kingdoms, the **ten horns** being kings (Revelation 17:12), and the **diadems** as symbols of his wanna-be power and majesty. Satan uses these dominions, as he used Egypt, Babylon, and Rome. There are two pieces of his conduct in verse 4. **His tail swept down a third of the stars in heaven and cast them to earth**. Most take this as the ancient battle where Satan convinced a third of the angels to rebel with him. In verse 7 he does have angels, “the dragon and his angels.” Previously in Revelation stars have been angels, and stars have been stars, and even in verse 1 stars were a symbol of human sons. It is more than merely astrological display in the sky, and while disagreement is fine, the context of war, devouring, fits with angelic hostilities. This stage in the conflict appears to happen before the birth of the child. The dragon is also antagonistic toward a child. **And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she bore her child he might devour it**. From Genesis 3 there has been bad blood between the dragon and the woman and the woman's offspring. The serpent was told that the birth of a son would be his doom (Genesis 3:15). Abel, whom Satan incited Cain to kill, turned out not to be that child. To whatever degree Satan paid attention to God's Word, he had been anticipating an opportunity to kill his prophesied killer. The order from Herod to kill all the male children (Matthew 2:16-18), the conspiracies of the Jewish leaders (e.g., Mark 3:6) and up to the crucifixion, the dragon has aimed to win against God's people. It turns out that he didn't know what he was doing (see 1 Corinthians 2:8), though that just makes him more angry. # Born to Rule (verses 5-6) The dragon could not outmaneuver God's plan. The woman, again as a reference to the community of Israel, not just Mary, **gave birth to a male child, one who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron**. Psalm 2 has been referenced multiple times in Revelation, and this is another clear connection. The child was God's Son, the Lord's anointed, the seed of the woman. He will rule not just a one-world people, but over many distinct **nations**. **But her child was caught up to God and to his throne**. This skips some key parts, like the crucifixion and resurrection, as it goes from birth to ascension (though some in the East counted one's birthday as the day of one's anointing). Regardless, the child lives, and rules with God. The woman becomes the point of attack. **And the woman fled into the wilderness where she has a place prepared by God in which she is to be nourished for 1,260 days.** I've come to appreciate a greater connection between "the people of God" as in the chosen and saved, Old and New Testament saints, Jews and Gentiles. They have always been justified by faith the same way, they share one mediator, the Man Jesus Christ. They both are branches with one root (Romans 11:17-18). But the Gentiles are not the *mother* community in this sign, and they can't be brought in now after the child is born. It's the same "woman." The woman who flees during this 3 1/2 years is not the church, it is the chosen Israelites, the 144k from the twelve tribes, and it occurs during the time of the two witnesses (Revelation 11:1-3). I believe that this describes a Jewish group of believers during the Great Tribulation, but that has application for all Christians. # Conclusion The dragon is real, in the character of Satan in the kings and kingdoms he rules through. The dragon is in ongoing conflict with the woman, Eve, and her offspring, believers in Jesus Christ the son of Abraham, the son of Israel, the son of Judah, the son of David. The dragon has been outdone. His is a losing character in a well-known narrative arc, one in which his anger continues to fight and seek to devour all those associated with the child. The best he can do is copy, as he attempts with crowns and healing and a mark; he has no creativity of his own. He can only pervert and destroy. He will be conquered. > And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. (Revelation 12:11) --- ## Charge Jesus was anointed by God to rule the nations, which is what made the dragon mad. Jesus also promises a share in His reign to those who conquer. Remember His words to Thyatira: "Only hold fast what you have until I come. The one who conquers and who keeps my words until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations...even as I have received authority from my Father" (Revelation 2:25-27). Should you be surprised if the dragon is angry at your privilege? ## Benediction: > Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. (1 Peter 4:12–13, ESV)

No one can deny how great is the secret of our religion. (1 Timothy 3:16) "Secret of Our Religion" What is the secret of our religion? The Man Jesus Christ. As St. Paul describes through the rest of this verse, and we'll cover throughout this month, the humanity of Jesus is the secret of our religion. Many say that they have no problem with Jesus' humanity, but we are much more willing to accept His divinity. The idea that the Virgin Mary had to change the Son of God's diapers baffles us. Jesus' earthy humanity gets under our skin because we can't believe that God would do things that way. But that's exactly what God needed to do to save us. He needed to get under our skin. He needed to take on our flesh so that He could redeem our flesh. Most religions have no problem with having a god. Most religions have no problem with their primary minister being a human. The problem with Christianity is that our God and our primary minister are both God and man. As both God and man, He was solely able to deliver us from our sins through His death and resurrection. This is the secret of our religion. But it's not a secret that God wants us to keep to ourselves. God wants this to be the worst-kept secret in the history of the world. He wants everyone to know about it and to believe it (1 Timothy 2:4). Spread the secret today of the God who became man. Amen.

KINGS AND KINGDOMS Why do bad things happen to good people? If God is loving, why is human suffering possible? Does the weight of a great life fall on God’s sovereign control, or are there human factors involved too? In this preaching series, KINGS AND KINGDOMS, we will explore how God has delegated to individual believers a kingship, with responsibility to understand the principles that make the kingdom thrive. We will learn how to engage spiritual authority, how to defuse the emotional shame that drives a king to live like an indigent, and ultimately how to live like God’s royal people. If you have ever had questions of why “God let this happen,” you will find nurture, freedom and a deep sense of security from this series.   ROMANS 5:17 AMP For if because of one man’s trespass (Adam’s original lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing GRACE (unmerited favor) and the free GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS [putting them into right standing with Himself] REIGN AS KINGS IN LIFE through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).   CONSIDER THE QUESTION: If God delegated His rule on earth to His people, and His people are delinquent to those responsibilities, how much pain and sorrow have we unduly endured? How much of our understanding of God has been skewed?   WHAT IS SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY? TODAY’S SERMON NOTES   ROMANS 5:17 AMP For if because of one man’s trespass (Adam’s original lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing GRACE (unmerited favor) and the free GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS [putting them into right standing with Himself] REIGN AS KINGS IN LIFE through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One).   IF GOD IS SOVEREIGN,  AND WE ARE KINGS, WHY…?   THE ANSWER COMES UNDERSTANDING TWO THINGS God’s Sovereignty (Last Week) The Origins of Evil (Today)   CHARLES TEMPLETON After reading an issue of LIFE magazine and seeing a photo of an anguished mother clutching her dead infant in drought-ravaged Africa. “I thought, ‘Is it possible to believe that there is a loving or caring Creator when all this woman needed was rain?’ How could a loving God do this to that woman? Who runs the rain? I don’t; you don’t. HE does – or that’s what I thought. But when I saw that photograph, I immediately knew it is not possible for this to happen and for there to be a loving God. There was no way. Who else but a fiend could destroy a baby and virtually kill its’ mother with agony – when all that was needed was rain?...and I began…considering the plagues that sweep across parts of the planet and indiscriminately kill…and it just became crystal clear to me that it is not possible for an intelligent person to believe that there is a deity who loves.” (Page 42, Case for Faith – Lee Strobel)   WHEN WE BELIEVE GOD IS CULPABLE Erodes EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT & personal closeness to God Wires you with REACTIVE ANGER towards God, causing you to FIGHT God, AVOID God or simply SHUT DOWN in your relationship with God Position you as an EMOTIONAL VICTIM in life, DISEMPOWERING your ability to move forward. [If God is against you, or allowing the enemy to thrive, what hope do you have?] Compel you to DECONSTRUCT your belief in God altogether   WHY WOULD WE PROFILE GOD AS PUNITIVE? We are emotional beings with survival instincts Our brains try to make sense of suffering Placing blame gives an illusion of power to protect God is the most convenient target of blame, others are second We hope discovering the purposed-meaning will make us whole again We have been taught bad theology, so it is what it is We don’t know how to deal with problem Scripture texts   THE ORIGIN OF EVIL – PROBLEM TO OVERCOME God CAN destroy evil (All-Powerful) God SHOULD destroy evil (Loving & Good) YET, evil IS in this world   THE ORIGIN OF EVIL – HOW IT HAPPENED God is absolutely perfect! (Matt 5:48) God created only perfect creatures! (Gen 1:26-31) One of the perfections God gave some of His creatures was the power of free choice! (Gen 2:15-17) Some of these creatures freely chose to do evil! (Gen 3) Therefore, a perfect creature caused evil! (Rom 5:12)   HOW FREE WILL CAUSES EVIL Some of our suffering is brought on DIRECTLY by our own free choice. The choice to abuse my body can result in sickness. Some of our suffering is brought on INDIRECTLY by our own free choice. The choice to be lazy can result in poverty. Some physical EVIL TO OTHERS can result DIRECTLY from our free choice, as in the case of spouse or child abuse. Others suffer INDIRECTLY because of our free choice. Alcoholism can lead to poverty of one’s children. Some NATURAL-PHYSICAL evil may be a NECESSARY BY-PRODUCT of a good process. Rain, hot air, & cool air are all necessary for food and life, but a by-product of these forces is a tornado. (Also consider, the earth fell under a curse at Adam and Eve’s disobedient “free choice” which gave rise to natural disasters)   WHY DOESN’T GOD DESTROY EVIL?  God cannot do what is actually self-contradictory (Round squares, colorless color, rock too big to move, cease to self-exist, make good into evil, cannot lie, cannot change, cannot make mistakes or do something stupid… like make a round square) It is contradictory to destroy evil without destroying free choice But free choice is necessary to a moral universe God cannot destroy evil without destroying this good moral universe   IF GOD KNEW, THEN WHY… God wanted a personal relationship with His created beings A free world where no one sins may be conceivable but may not be achievable Yet, at the end of all things God will have a free moral world where beings have chosen to surrender to  Jesus and God’s Kingdom   MATTHEW 18:18 CEV [Jesus said] I promise you that GOD in heaven WILL ALLOW WHATEVER YOU ALLOW on earth, but HE WILL NOT ALLOW anything YOU DON'T ALLOW.   WHAT NOW???  EVALUATE your trust in God ACKNOWLEDGE your emotional resistance SURRENDER to the REAL JESUS and GOD’S GOODNESS   NEXT SUNDAY MORNING! THE ANSWER COMES UNDERSTANDING TWO THINGS 1.     God’s Sovereignty 2.     The Nature of Evil   1 TIMOTHY 6:14-15 AMP [Timothy said] Keep all His precepts unsullied and flawless, irreproachable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Anointed One), Which [appearing] will be shown forth in His own proper time by the blessed, only SOVEREIGN (Ruler), the KING OF KINGS and the LORD OF LORDS…” JOHN 8:32 NKJV [Jesus said] And you shall KNOW THE TRUTH, and the TRUTH shall MAKE YOU FREE.   THE POWER OF AN UNTRUTH 1.       The truth you believe will make you free! 2.       Partial truth is an untruth! 3.       The untruths you believe will keep you bound!   STERILIZE THESE PARTIAL TRUTHS God’s Sovereignty The Nature of Evil   WHAT IS SOVEREIGNTY? In the beginning there was a distinction between the Creator and His Creation.  Yet at a point in time "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us" (Jn 1:14).  The divine second person of the Trinity took up a human nature and manifested Himself to our human senses.  This God-Man appointed Apostles to be His eyewitnesses, particularly of His resurrection from the dead.  Through this empirical evidence of the Apostolic witnesses we are directed to believe that Jesus is the promised Christ and receive life in His name.   Strict apologetics (the scientific validation of  Scriptural truth) is quite limited to the knowledge that there is a god who also demands moral behavior.  From there, we must quickly move on to the revealed knowledge  which tells us who God is, what He has done, and what His will is toward us.  Revealed knowledge creates faith in the promise of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Nevertheless, human reason, natural law, logic and philosophy can be employed within the sphere of the senses.  Although apologetics and existential proofs for God are valid, the real "search" for God begins with the incarnation.  Luther uses the account of Jacob's ladder(Gen 28) to teach us not to approach heaven by human reason speculating about the divine majesty, instead we are to embrace the incarnated Jesus Christ as presented in the Word.  "There is no other God than this Man Jesus Christ"(LW 26:29).  John 14:6, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."  The New Testament is a confirmation of the historical Jesus just as it was promised in the Old Testament.  "We have the prophetic word confirmed..." (2 Peter 1:19-21). The individual Christian and the incarnate Christ live in both kingdoms simultaneously.  It is within the vocations of the three estates that we see the proper use of apologetics.  It is used by parents in teaching and raising children to serve society and the church. If parents employ teachers to help them in their God-given task, then they need to be on guard against those who would deny not only natural knowledge, but revealed knowledge as well.  Individual Christians must speak up for the historicity of the Scriptures and the truthfulness of the Word of God.  And, yes, we need to beware of philosophy and empty deceit (Col 2:8) and cast down any arguments which exalt themselves beyond its proper sphere(2 Cor 10:4-5).  But ultimately we must present the message of the cross of Jesus Christ.  The substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins is the only saving message of truth.  If the hearer is offended by the cross of Christ or thinks that its message is foolishness, then so be it.  There is no other name by which we must be saved.     Are you righteous in Christ no matter how much you sin? Some would stand firm by the assertion that no matter how much sin permeates your life after conversion, that once you receive righteousness, you are always and forever righteous. Of course, they have reason to believe that way based on some very important verses. Here are some of them: Whom God put forward [before the eyes of all] as a mercy seat and propitiation by His blood [the cleansing and life-giving sacrifice of atonement and reconciliation, to be received] through faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in His divine forbearance He had passed over and ignored former sins without punishment. It was to demonstrate and prove at the present time (in the now season) that He Himself is righteous and that He justifies and accepts as righteous him who has [true] faith in Jesus (Romans 3:24, 25 Amplified Bible). For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] reign as kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)(Romans 5:17 Amplified Bible). For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness] (2 Corinthians 5:21 Amplified Bible).  When we come to Jesus, make Him our Lord, and are born again, we are made pure and righteousness from all our past sins. We begin the Christian life with a clean slate! The Lord “passed over and ignored former sins without punishment.” Glory to God! Clean, sanctified, and made righteous in the blood! That is the truth about being born again! Here is a question for you. Though that is the absolute truth, does that mean that you can practice sin like the world as a Christian and continue to be righteous before God? If it’s true that regardless of your sins you continue in righteousness, then what do you do with the following verses? Little children, let no one deceive you: The one who practices righteousness is righteous, just as Jesus is righteous. The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning(1 John 3:7, 8 NET). If you know that He is righteous, you also know that everyone who practices righteousness has been fathered by Him (1 John 2:29 NET).  But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness(1 John 1:9 NET).   If once you are righteous you can never step out of that righteousness through sin, then why must you confess your sins if you commit them? Why must the one who commits sin be cleansed from unrighteousness if once righteous always righteous?  Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived! The sexually immoral, idolaters, adulterers, passive homosexual partners, practicing homosexuals, thieves, the greedy, drunkards, the verbally abusive, and swindlers will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 6:9, 10 NET).  If a Christian practices unrighteousness and does not repent and confess their sins, will he or she inherit the kingdom of God? Did you know Paul refers to things that will disqualify a person from their inheritance in the kingdom of God?  That is the other side of the righteousness theme in the Bible. Did you note that I haven’t quoted one verse from the Old Testament yet? This is NEW Testament, but it is also found throughout the Old Testament. Can your spirit be contaminated by sin AFTER you become a follower of Jesus? Some believe that if you sin it is only the “flesh” and that it does not pollute the spirit. If that were true, then why did Paul say the following to the Corinthian church and include Himself in the equation? Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that could defile the body and the spirit, and thus accomplish holiness out of reverence for God(2 Corinthians 7:1 NET).  These are truths generally denied or overlooked by many in evangelical Christianity. Here is the truth. When you come to Jesus, you were made righteous by His blood. After you are a believer, if you sin and do not repent and confess your sins to God, then your righteous standing with God is interrupted UNTIL you act on 1 John 1:9. Doing First John 1:9 is how you are cleansed from all the unrighteousness you did and then your righteousness is restored.  I know this is a one-two punch against many erroneous and traditional ideas. I am happy to do it because these have been entrenched in our thinking for far too long. It has robbed many Christians from pursuing righteousness in all they do. That is another good point. Why pursue righteousness if you are already righteous forever with no possibility of messing it up through sin? Why did Paul tell Christians to pursue (run hard after) righteousness if righteousness can never be forfeited? See 1 Timothy 6:11; 2 Timothy 2:22.  This podcast will begin to set the record straight in these areas. Be blessed!  _______    Get it as an ebook, softcover, or hardcover book from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Christianbook, Westbow Press, or order it through your favorite bookstore. From the Back Cover: A Call to Return—Restoring the Roots of Our Relationship with Jesus explores the depths of the Scriptures to excavate, refine, and lift up its words of power, revealing deep truths that will radically change the lives of believers. By tapping into this rich vein of biblical insight, Dan Alan Rodriguez offers Christians the insights to enable them to set out upon paths of discipleship that follow Jesus closely and that lead to profound experiences of His presence and power. Drawing upon the author’s study of first-century Judaism and Christianity and resting upon a diverse array of sources steeped in the foundational texts of these traditions, the twelve chapters of A Call to Return address a series of interlocking topics: a prophetic call to return; the revival of lawlessness; the revival, purpose, and preexistence of God’s commandments; the church’s commandments and their connections to faith, grace, and good works; the association of works of the law to Jewish tradition and ceremony; holiness; the fear of the Lord; each believer as a temple of the holy; and the meaning of loving the Lord Jesus. If you have a sense that Jesus’s message and ministry are calling you to embark upon a walk with Him that might take you away from all in Christianity that requires no accountability or responsibility before God, then A Call to Return—Restoring the Roots of Our Relationship with Jesus is the right book for you to read. It will give you the keys for understanding and responding to the Lord’s call to return to Him and to follow where He leads. “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches” (Rev. 2:29 NASB). Last time, in our verse-by-verse study of the Book of Romans, we began looking at a passage in chapter 5 where the Apostle Paul summarizes the condition of mankind without Christ and the incredible transfer from guilt to grace that takes place when a soul embraces Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Today we’ll hear Paul compare and contrast the fallen condition of mankind inherited from one man, Adam, to a Christian’s new state of grace, by looking at the Man Jesus Christ. Let’s join Pastor Brian now as he picks up our study at Romans chapter 5, verse 16, and tells us more about how a person goes “From Guilt to Grace.”
