In this powerful sermon, Ben Bonner takes us on a journey through the profound theme of light in the Bible, exploring how Jesus' light dispels darkness and brings hope into our lives. From the powerful declaration in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world," to the message of God's unwavering presence in our hearts, Ben reminds us that following Christ means stepping out of darkness and into the life-giving light of His glory. He delves into the significance of light shining in the darkness, as seen in scriptures like John 1:5 and Revelation 21:23, showing how God's light illuminates not only the world but our very souls. Through the example of the shepherds in Luke 2 and the eternal hope found in Colossians 1:27, Ben encourages us to embrace the light that keeps on giving—hope, peace, and the knowledge of God's glory. Here are the sermon notes: “Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12 NLT “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. ”John 1:5 NIV “That night some shepherds were living out in the fields near Bethlehem. They were keeping their sheep safe. Then an angel of the Lord appeared to them. A bright light from God shone all around them. That frightened them very much.” Luke 2:8-9 EASY “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” 1 John 1:5 NIV And the city has no need of sun or moon, for the glory of God illuminates the city, and the Lamb is its light.” Revelation 21:23 NLT “For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:6 NIV The gift to keep on giving- Hope- Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27 NKJV

Parables // Prayer // The Key to Living an Overcoming Life Luke 18:1-8 (NLT)“One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. ‘There was a judge in a certain city,' he said, ‘who neither feared God nor cared about people.' A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.' The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don't fear God or care about people, but this woman is driving me crazy. I'm going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!'Then the Lord said, ‘Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don't you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith?'” Prayer: The Key to Living an Overcoming Life 1. God uses prayer to guide you in confusing times. Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” 2. Prayer helps you overcome the temptations that come in the midst of difficulties. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NIV)“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 3. Prayer will steady you in trouble. Joshua 1:9 (NIV)“Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”Matthew 28:20 (ESV)“I am with you always, to the end of the age.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (ESV)“But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” 4. Prayer keeps you focused on God's character. Hebrews 6:10 (NLT)“For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.” Philippians 4:19 (NIV)“And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV)“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:10 (NIV)“Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.” Matthew 6:31-33 (NIV)“do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
THE NEED FOR CONTROL IS THE CAUSE OF EVERY PROBLEM Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Hebrews 11:1 NLT Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT 'Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don't think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. Romans 12:3 NLT HEALTH IS NOT STUMBLED UPON IT IS PURSUED AND IGNORING PROBLEMS WILL NEVER LEAD TO HEALTH. THE PREREQUISITE TO TRUE FREEDOM IS TO DECIDE THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO SUFFER ANYMORE YOU HAVE TWO FOUNDATIONAL CHOICES. ONE CHOICE IS TO LEAVE THE PAIN INSIDE AND CONTINUE TO STRUGGLE WITH THE OUTSIDE. THE OTHER CHOICE IS TO MAKE THE DECISION YOU DON'T WANT TO SPEND YOUR ENTIRE LIFE AVOIDING THE INNER PAIN AND YOU'D RATHER GET RID OF IT. WHEN YOU AVOID PAIN AND CHANGE YOU BELIEVE EXTERNAL SITUATIONS ARE WHAT CAUSE INTERNAL PROBLEMS. I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. John 16:33 NLT OUR NEED FOR CONTROL AND THE FEAR THAT IT PRODUCES BLOCK OUR HEARTS. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don't worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today's trouble is enough for today. Matthew 6:33-34 NLT UNSHAKABLE CONFIDENCE IS ROOTED IN A GODLY IDENTITY. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17 NIV Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. Matthew 7:7-11 NLT YOU ARE DEEPLY AND COMPLETELY LOVED. HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE THORNS? 1. DEAL WITH PAIN IMMEDIATELY When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Psalms 32:3 NLT 2. RELEASE YOUR PAIN AND SURRENDER TO GOD Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. Psalms 55:22 NLT So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:6-7 NLT Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29 NLT 3. DECIDE YOUR GOD-GIVE IDENTITY AND WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO PURSUE THAT Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us. Romans 12:3 NLT WHAT DO YOU WANT? ➡️ WHAT IS GETTING IN THE WAY? ⬇️ WHAT IS GETTING IN THE WAY? ⬅️ WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT? ⬇️ WHAT DO YOU REALLY WANT? ➡️ WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO COMMIT TO DO? They stumble because they do not obey God's word, and so they meet the fate that was planned for them. But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God's very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God's people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God's mercy.” 1 Peter 2:8-10 NLT
Word for Today: Job 33:14 NLT “For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.”
Becoming BeYOUtiful YOU Part 7 - Goodness “…when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, He will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…” Galatians 5:22,23 NLT “Every GOOD and perfect gift is from above, coming from the Father” James 1:17 NIV To Live a BeYOUtiful Life, I NEED GOD'S HELP! First, THE PROOF of the Christian life is in the Fruit If (that is the conditional part) we let Him control our lives, HE WILL (that is the promise) produce the life in us that we have been created to live. This is an EXPECTATION for followers of Jesus Christ “A healthy tree produces good fruit, and an unhealthy tree produces bad fruit. A good tree can't produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can't produce good fruit. So every tree that does not produce good fruit is chopped down and thrown into the fire. Yes, the way to identify a tree or a person is by the kind of fruit that is produced. “Not all people who sound religious are really godly. They may refer to me as ‘Lord,' but they still won't enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The decisive issue is whether they obey my Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:18-21 NLT Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.” James 4:17 NIV THERE ARE TWO FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEMS WHENEVER WE CALL SOMEONE A “GOOD” PERSON- Here's part of the problem: We Judge Goodness By the Wrong Standard Here's the Other Part of the Problem: No one is good! “There is no one righteous…” Romans 3:10 NIV “All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags…” Isaiah 64:6 NIV “The Lord is good and does what is right” Psalm 25:8 NLT “Taste and see that the Lord is good” Psalm 34:8 NLT “For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation” Psalm 100:5 NLT We can't conclude that we just need a “little help” Luke 18:9-14 The Pharisee and the Tax Collector Jesus did not come to earth and die on a cross just to make good people better. “…I no longer count on my own goodness…but I trust God to save me” Philippians 3:9 NLT “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 5:21 NLT We don't go to heaven because we are good, but because God is good. God's Good Fruit In You Matters- Because It Multiplies… “As we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Galatians 6:10 NIV It Attracts People Toward Christ- “He was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and a great number of people were brought to the Lord” Acts 11:24 NIV It Overcomes Evil- “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” Romans 12:21 NIV

Today we start a 6-week series on one of the most heated theological debates of the last 500 years: Calvinism vs. Arminianism. In this episode we'll talk about the nature of salvation and the interplay between God's sovereignty and human free will. We'll give some background on the key players in the debate: John Calvin, Jacob Arminius, and even St. Augustine. And we'll of course introduce TULIP - the acronym that will provide a framework for the rest of this series.--The PursueGOD Truth podcast is the “easy button” for making disciples – whether you're looking for resources to lead a family devotional, a small group at church, or a one-on-one mentoring relationship. Humans without Christ are completely lost in their sins to the point that they can do no good. Sin affects every part of humanity: our will, emotions, actions, and attitudes. Romans 3:10-12 (NLT) As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.”Unconditional Election. God chose Christians based on nothing about them. Election is not based on any foreseen faith in humans and it certainly isn't based on anything they do. It's simply based on God's will and choice. Romans 8:29-30 (NLT) For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory. Ephesians 1:4-5 (NLT) Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.Limited Atonement. Christ's death only paid for the sins of the elect. In other words, the death of Christ paid for the sins of God's true people who respond to Christ in faith and repentance, but not for the whole world. John 10:11 (NLT) “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.Irresistible Grace. God effectively calls you because his call cannot be resisted, nor would you want to resist it. In the moment when God calls you he also regenerates you. This is the work of the Holy Spirit coming into your life and giving you a new heart. John 6:37 (NLT) However, those the Father has given me will come to me, and I will never reject them.Perseverance of the Saints. 2 Timothy Part 1 | Sunday, September 10thPastor Wes Morris II Timothy 1:1-7 (NLT) This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. I have been sent out to tell others about the life he has promised through faith in Christ Jesus.I am writing to Timothy, my dear son. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.Timothy, I thank God for you—the God I serve with a clear conscience, just as my ancestors did. Night and day I constantly remember you in my prayers. I long to see you again, for I remember your tears as we parted. And I will be filled with joy when we are together again.I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.FAN THE FLAMEI. OPEN MY HEART TO THE WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.II Timothy 1: 6 (NLT) This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you...John 14:16-17 (NIV) And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.√ REMOVE THE DISTRACTIONS.√ STAY CONNECTED.II. Proverbs 28:1 (NLT) - The wicked run away when no one is chasing them, but the godly are as bold as lions.Acts 4:23 (NLT) - As soon as they were freed, Peter and John returned to the other believers and told them what the leading priests and elders had said. 24 When they heard the report, all the believers lifted their voices together in prayer to God: “O Sovereign Lord, Creator of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them—Acts 4:29 (NLT) - And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great boldness in preaching your word.2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) - For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
Are you willing to step outside your comfort zone and be vulnerable in order to uncover the divine plan God has in store for you?If you had asked me that question two years ago, my reply would have been a hard pass. I was so comfortable making money and ignoring the inner work. In fact, I was convinced that I was a good person who was going to heaven because I tithed, gave to the poor and hadn't killed anyone (though I'd been tried).Fast forward to 2022 and God began to transform my answer to that question before my very eyes. You see, prior to me rededicating my life to God, I was a rule-following, people-pleasing, worrying, realist who was afraid to hope, and addicted to busyness and ever chasing the elusive perfectionism. And the sad thing is I didn't know anything was wrong. And if those things weren't bad enough, under the surface, I was a suicidal, angry, control freak with a victim complex. This was before Jesus set me free. Now, I'm a joyful, free, far from perfect, but a work in progress who can proudly proclaim my deepest darkest secrets on this podcast because my redeemer lives and He came to set the captives free. This is a show that's here to give you permission to show up and step into your God-given purpose.I'm your host, Semonna McNeil, and I'm a believer and follower of Jesus, a wife, a mom of 5 and I've been an entrepreneur for over 15 years. May 07 2023 Sunday T. Stacy Hayes Week 17 / No Condemnation In Him #findoutwhoyouare My Vision My vision is to teach the world Who They Are In Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior! To Teach them what the Bible says about them and who they have been made to be in the promises of God's Word. This changed my life years ago and completely transformed me from a person full of doubt, fear and unbelief to a strong confident Christian that knows I can do anything through Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior. And I'm determined to teach the world what God has taught and commissioned me to teach and that is His Word. That commission takes me to jails and detention centers weekly along with other open doors at many churches and ministries that are wanting to teach these important truths to the world. My podcast goes out 6 days a week to help the people I am ministering to grow in the truths that God has taught me for many years now. This podcast is free to all that want to listen and grow strong in who God has made them to be in Christ Jesus their Lord and Savior. Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. Matthew 1:21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given and the government will be on his shoulders and he will be called, wonderful counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting father, and he will be called the prince of peace. Gen 1:26-27 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness… Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? Hebrews 1:3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being Isaiah 46:9-10 remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, 10 declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,' Jeremiah 32:17 Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you. GOD IS OMNISCIENT Psalm 139:1-4 You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. 2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. GOD IS OMNIPRESENT Psalm 139:7-10 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. GOD IS OMNIPOTENT Acts 17:24-25 Philippians 2:13 (NLT) For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. His power is at work in you. His power is at work for you. His power is at work through you. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. 10 That's why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. I Corinthians 2:4-5 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God's power.

(Bilingual) このメッセージでは太助牧師が他の人に影響を与える方法について以下の2つのポイントから話します。 In this message Ps Tasuke talks about how you can influence others in these 2 points: (2サムエル 23:2 JCB) 主の霊は私を通して語られた。主のことばは私の舌にあった。 (2 Samuel 23:2 NLT) The Spirit of the Lord speaks through me; his words are upon my tongue. (使徒 1:8 JCB) しかし、聖霊があなたがたに下る時、あなたがたは大きな力を受け、エルサレムからユダヤ全土、そしてサマリヤから地の果てまで、わたしの死と復活を伝える証人となります。」 (Acts 1:8 NLT) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” その場にいた全員が聖霊に満たされた Everyone there was filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4 NLT) On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. (2) Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting.(3) Then, what looked like flames or tongues of fire appeared and settled on each of them.(4) And everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking in other languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them this ability. (Acts 2:12-14 NLT) They stood there amazed and perplexed. “What can this mean?” they asked each other.(13) But others in the crowd ridiculed them, saying, “They're just drunk, that's all!”(14) Then Peter stepped forward with the eleven other apostles and shouted to the crowd, “Listen carefully, all of you, fellow Jews and residents of Jerusalem! Make no mistake about this. ペテロの大胆なことばに人々の心は強く打たれた Peter's bold preaching pierced the hearts of the people (Acts 2:37-38 NLT) Peter's words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”(38) Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (使徒 2:40-41 JCB) このあとも、ペテロの説教はえんえんと続きました。イエスのことや、悪に満ちたこの時代から救われなければならないことを、ことばを尽くして訴えたのです。(41) この日、ペテロの言うことを信じた人はバプテスマを受けましたが、その数は全部で三千人ほどでした。 (Acts 2:40-41 NLT) Then Peter continued preaching for a long time, strongly urging all his listeners, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation!”(41) Those who believed what Peter said were baptized and added to the church that day—about 3,000 in all. 1. 聖霊の力によって私たちは大胆に語ることができる The Holy Spirit makes us BOLD to speak (2テモテ 1:7 JCB) 神が私たちに与えてくださったものは、おくびょうの霊ではなく、力と愛と慎みとの霊です。 (2 Timothy 1:7 NLT) For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2. 聖霊の力によって私たちは良い言葉(良い知らせ)を話すことができる The Holy Spirit makes us speak good words (Good News) (1コリント14:1,3 JCB) 愛を、最高の目標にしなさい。それと共に、聖霊が与えてくださる賜物、特に、神のことばを伝える預言の賜物を求めなさい。…しかし、神から託されたことばを語る者は、人々を励まし、慰め、人々の主にある成長を助けます。 (1 Corinthians 14:1,3 ERV) Love should be the goal of your life, but you should also want to have the gifts that come from the Spirit. And the gift you should want most is to be able to prophesy…(3) But those who prophesy are speaking to people. They help people grow stronger in faith, and they give encouragement and comfort.
Sermon Manuscript: Ephesians 4:1-16 Series: Text Messages Title: Growing Together Date: 9/18/22 Location: Perris Valley Church Ephesians 4:1-2 (NLT) Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. 2 Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love. Luke 14:8-11 (NLT) “When you are invited to a wedding feast, don't sit in the seat of honor. What if someone who is more distinguished than you has also been invited? 9 The host will come and say, ‘Give this person your seat.' Then you will be embarrassed, and you will have to take whatever seat is left at the foot of the table! 10 “Instead, take the lowest place at the foot of the table. Then when your host sees you, he will come and say, ‘Friend, we have a better place for you!' Then you will be honored in front of all the other guests. 11 For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” 1 Thessalonians 2:7 (NLT) As apostles of Christ we certainly had a right to make some demands of you, but instead we were like children among you. Or we were like a mother feeding and caring for her own children. Ephesians 4:3-6 (NLT) Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. 4 For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. 5 There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all. Point Number One: The Lord's Church is designed to be united as one, not divided into many. Psalm 133:1 (NLT) How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! Ephesians 4:7 (NLT) However, he has given each one of us a special gift through the generosity of Christ. 1 Peter 4:10 (NLT) God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Romans 11:29 (NLT) For God's gifts and his call can never be withdrawn. Ephesians 4:11 (NLT) Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Ephesians 4:12 (ESV) to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, Ephesians 4:12 (NLT) Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. Point Number Two: Your Pastor's Job Description is to Give You the Tools To Do Ministry. 2 Timothy 4:2 (NLT) Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (CSB) All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. Ephesians 4:13-14a (NLT) This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. Point Number Three: A united healthy Church body is continually growing deeper in their Christian walk together. Hebrews 5:11-14 (CSB) We have a great deal to say about this, and it is difficult to explain, since you have become too lazy to understand. 12 Although by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the basic principles of God's revelation again. You need milk, not solid food. 13 Now everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced with the message about righteousness, because he is an infant. 14 But solid food is for the mature—for those whose senses have been trained to distinguish between good and evil. Ephesians 4:15-16 (NLT) Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Point Number Four: A body will not function properly if the parts are not growing in unison and in unity. 1 Corinthians 12:12 (NLT) The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ.
We know from scripture that the devil and demons are real, but compared to many other topics in the Bible we have little information about them. You'll find much more in scripture about the nature of God, salvation, and Jesus' life and ministry than you will about the demonic. Here's what that tells us: our thoughts should be occupied with God and his goodness a thousand times more often than about the devil and his minions. Demons are fallen angels. Demons weren't created as demons, because God created everything good. Peter gives us the origin story about demons: 2 Peter 2:4 (NLT) For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell, in gloomy pits of darkness, where they are being held until the day of judgment. Some angels sinned, and God cast them into hell. That's about all we know about how they got started on their destructive path, and it leads to our second thing: Some demons are already bound; others are influencing the world. 2 Peter helps us to establish the first point. So does Jude 1:6. But clearly there are other demons who are not yet bound. They're the ones wreaking havoc on the earth: Ephesians 6:12 (NLT) For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. When we put these passages together, we're left with one clear option: some demons are already in hell, others are free to influence the world. Jesus interacted with demons (Matthew 17). You and I might encounter them as well. But here's the good news: Demons have very limited power. Demons don't have divine qualities. They're not omnipotent, omniscient, or omnipresent. They can't be more than one place at one time. They can't read your mind. They can't force you to do anything. But demons can study and observe. They're constantly looking for ways to get a believer off track. They know what presses your buttons. They know the trappings and sins you struggle with that you may have been able to hide from everyone around you. And they use that information to tempt you, to accuse you, to lie to you and tell you that God couldn't love someone like you. This isn't to say that demons aren't powerful or shouldn't be respected. They just have no power when compared to the Spirit of God (1 John 4:4). And that leads to this truth: Every Christian can fight demons. You don't need a pastor or a priest to do spiritual warfare. Any person who has trusted Jesus for salvation has the authority – in Jesus' name – to deal with demons. Jesus' early followers learned this after they came back from their first mission trip into the world: Luke 10:17 When the seventy-two disciples returned, they joyfully reported to him, “Lord, even the demons obey us when we use your name!” Notice that this was a larger group of Christ-followers, not just the original 12 disciples. That's probably why they were so surprised at the demonic response to their commands. These were regular Christians, just like you and me. The authority comes from the name of Jesus, not from the person speaking. Demons cannot possess a Christian. This last point about demons addresses a common question among believers: Can Christians be possessed? Here's the simple answer: No. When we place our faith in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit takes residence in our heart (2 Corinthians 1:22). There isn't an empty house any longer where a demon can reside. Read the rest of this article at pursuegod.org/warfare. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/pursuegod/support
Leviticus 20:10 (NLT) “If a man commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, both the man and the woman who have committed adultery must be put to death. Point number 1 in your notes: KING DAVID, THE GIANT SLAYER, THE LEADER OF THOUSANDS, THE LOVER OF GOD, KNEW WHAT WAS PERMITTED AND WHAT WAS NOT. 2 Samuel 11:2 (NLT) Late one afternoon, after his midday rest, David got out of bed and was walking on the roof of the palace. As he looked out over the city, he noticed a woman of unusual beauty taking a bath. 2 Samuel 11:5 (NLT) 5 Later, when Bathsheba discovered that she was pregnant, she sent David a message, saying, “I'm pregnant.” 2 Samuel 11:25 (NLT) “Well, tell Joab not to be discouraged,” David said. “The sword devours this one today and that one tomorrow! Fight harder next time, and conquer the city!” 2 Samuel 11:26-27 (NLT) When Uriah's wife heard that her husband was dead, she mourned for him. 27 When the period of mourning was over, David sent for her and brought her to the palace, and she became one of his wives. Then she gave birth to a son. But the Lord was displeased with what David had done. Point number 2 in your notes: Our sins are the results of OUR choices. There is no one else to blame. 2 Samuel 12:13 (NLT) Then David confessed to Nathan, “I have sinned against the Lord.” Nathan replied, “Yes, but the Lord has forgiven you, and you won't die for this sin. 2 Samuel 12:14 (NLT) Nevertheless, because you have shown utter contempt for the word of the Lord by doing this, your child will die.” Point number 3 in your notes: The depth of your faith is not enough to counter the worldly consequences of your sin. 2 Samuel 24:17 (NLT) When David saw the angel, he said to the Lord, “I am the one who has sinned and done wrong! But these people are as innocent as sheep—what have they done? Let your anger fall against me and my family.” 1 Chronicles 21:13 (NLT) “I'm in a desperate situation!” David replied to Gad. “But let me fall into the hands of the Lord, for his mercy is very great. Do not let me fall into human hands.” Psalm 38 (NLT) 4 My guilt overwhelms me— it is a burden too heavy to bear. 8 I am exhausted and completely crushed. My groans come from an anguished heart. 9 You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh. 10 My heart beats wildly, my strength fails, and I am going blind. 15 For I am waiting for you, O Lord. You must answer for me, O Lord my God. 17 I am on the verge of collapse, facing constant pain. 18 But I confess my sins; I am deeply sorry for what I have done. 21 Do not abandon me, O Lord. Do not stand at a distance, my God. 22 Come quickly to help me, O Lord my savior. Point number 4 in your notes: Forgiveness is a gift offered from God, not a privilege God owes to us. Psalm 51 (NLT) 1 Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. 2 Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. 3 For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night. 4 Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. 5 For I was born a sinner— yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.6 But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there. 7 Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. 9 Don't keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. 10 Create in me a clean heart, O God. 16 You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering. 17 The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NLT) God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done Point number 5 in your notes: God has a glorious plan to get us out of the sinful situation we get ourselves into. Romans 3:24 (NLT) Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NLT) For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

Why are you trying to do all this alone while everyone stands around you from morning till evening?” .Moses replied, “Because the people come to me to get a ruling from God. When a dispute arises, they come to me, and I am the one who settles the case between the quarreling parties. I inform the people of God's decrees and give them his instructions.” .“This is not good!” Moses' father-in-law exclaimed. “You're going to wear yourself out—and the people, too. This job is too heavy a burden for you to handle all by yourself. Now listen to me, and let me give you a word of advice, and may God be with you. .You should continue to be the people's representative before God, bringing their disputes to him. Teach them God's decrees, and give them his instructions. Show them how to conduct their lives. But select from all the people some capable, honest men who fear God and hate bribes. .Appoint them as leaders over groups of one thousand, one hundred, fifty, and ten. They should always be available to solve the people's common disputes, but have them bring the major cases to you. Let the leaders decide the smaller matters themselves. They will help you carry the load, making the task easier for you. .If you follow this advice, and if God commands you to do so, then you will be able to endure the pressures, and all these people will go home in peace.”” (Exodus 18:13-23 NLT) “For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the meetings of God's holy people.” - 1 Corinthians 14:33 NLT...#Linkinbio #DearGodImGrateful #structure #order #faith #Jesus #wisdom #Godisdoinganewthing #renewed #new #wives #IronWifey #DGIG #JesusChrist #gratitude #grateful #blessed #gratitudechallenge #Jesus #Ironwifeymagazine #God #ironwifeypodcastnetwork #christianpodcast #podcastersofinstagram #podcast.STAY UP-TO-DATE WITH ALL THINGS IRONWIFEY:Instagram: @deargodimgrateful | @ironwifey_ | @ironwifeymagazineTwitter: @ironwifey_Facebook: IronWifeyIronWifey Magazine & Podcasts: https://www.ironwifeymagazine.com.Please Rate & Review, Like , Comment, & Subscribe!.FEATURED MUSIC: Track: SkyHigh — Enine [Audio Library Release]Music provided by Audio Library PlusWatch: https://youtu.be/q-lf6x9cVXwFree Download / Stream: https://alplus.io/skyhigh
John 16:7 (NKJV) “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” John 14:26 (AMP) But the Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby, the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf, He will teach you all things. And He will remind you of everything I have told you. Think about what Jesus is telling us, the Holy Spirit, His Spirit, is now living in every born again believer. I really don't think we comprehend all that's in His statement. After all, He told His first disciples, “I have many things to tell you but you're not ready, you can't handle them right now.” I can't help but wonder how often we fall into this same category. And this is why we can't over state the importance of believing. It is the navigation system of the Kingdom of Heaven. This is why the Holy Spirit told us through the apostle Paul, “the same way you entered the Kingdom is exactly how you live in the Kingdom.” So, back to our original statement, It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you.” Jesus went on to tell us that He, the Holy Spirit will guide us in all truth. He will tell us things to come. Then He made this radical statement, “All the Father has is mine, and the Holy Spirit will take of what is mine and declare it to you.”So, its to your advantage that I go. It's no wonder the enemy does everything possible to keep us distracted with all the things of the world. Sounds like one of his tactics out of the parable of the sower. And one of the key lessons of this parable is that the sower sows the word. But without God's word as our foundation, the Holy Spirit will be limited to what He can actually reveals to us, bring to our remembrance. Without this foundation, the Holy Spirit could be communicating with our spirit and we chalk it up as just another passing thought. Bottom line, until the human soul is renewed to the word of God, we will always be at the mercy of human reasoning and senses. This is why Romans reminds us that the more spiritual minded we are, the more we'll recognize the Holy Spirit baring witness with our spirit. And even though Proverbs tells us it's through our spirit that the Holy Spirit enlightens us to spiritual realities. It's our soul that processes any revelation. This is why it is absolutely vital for the born-again that our minds be renewed to the Word of God. According to the book of Hebrews, it's the Word that reveals spiritual realities. Here's the deal, since Jesus told us it is to our advantage that the Holy Spirit came, maybe the question we all have to acknowledge is just how Holy Spirit minded are we on any given day? How intentional are we when it comes to spiritual realities? Is it even a reality or some distant, someday concept? Paul was so spirit-conscious that it was always at the front of his thinking. Listen to his perspective in Philippians, I'm torn between the two: my desire is to depart and be with Christ, which is way better, but it's more important that I stay for you. The unfortunate reality with the overwhelming majority of wonderfully born-again Christians is that the world of the spirit is something far from our everyday living. I believe possibly the biggest reason for this is because too many have been deceived into ignoring the fact that we were made like them. Genesis 1:26-27 (NLT) Then God said, Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us... So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. John 4:24 (NLT) “For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” We are spirits with bodies. But because of the fall of man, our spirits have been separated from God until we are born again. And from that moment forward, the only way God sees you is in your new nature. Jesus said, "That born of the Spirit is spirit." Paul said, "Old things are gone, behold all things have been made new." And this is why are told us in Romans that the Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit. We are reconnected with Him. Not our intelligence or our bodies. 1 John tells us that anyone who believes in Jesus already has His witness inside. MSG, We have His inward confirmation. Romans 8:11 (NKJV) If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Think about it, you know you're born again because you have a knowing on the inside. An inward confirmation. His Spirit bearing witness with your spirit that you're born again. And this is exactly how God leads us in every other area of our new lives in Him. Remember what Paul said, when we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit's words to explain spiritual truths. 1 Corinthians 2:12 (NLT) We have received God's Spirit, so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. Listen to Jesus' words again, It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you.” Jesus went on to tell us that He, the Holy Spirit, (Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby) He will guide us in all truth and tell us things to come. Then He made this radical statement, All the Father has is mine, and the Holy Spirit will take of what is mine and declare it to you. So, its to your advantage that I go. Something else we have to consider is that our spirit will know things our intelligence won't because the Holy Spirit is in direct contact with our spirit. It's the same with God's word, there will be times when our intelligence doesn't comprehend or even agree with something we see in the word, but our spirit recognizes it as truth. And this is the power of the word of God, in accordance with the Holy Spirit living in us, it transforms the human soul. Which produces faith, God's Kingdom system of living. The just shall live by faith. It's impossible to please God without faith. We live by faith, not by sight. So the more our soul is aligned with the things of God, the more reliable our conscience will be. You see, the born again's conscience is the voice of our own spirit. But when our conscience is cluttered it's difficult to recognize Him. Here's a big one that throws Christians off, because we're born of His Spirit, He's usually not leading through some major spectacular event. Remember, He lives in us, it should be our normal. I think way too many times, Christians miss the super-natural because we get distracted looking for the spectacular. Here's a perfect example of something very super-natural. As a matter of fact it is the actual word of God in manifestation. But notice just how normal it came to be. Luke 1:1-4 (NKJV) “Inasmuch as many have taken in hand to set in order a narrative of those things which have been fulfilled among us,just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word delivered them to us,IT SEEMED GOOD to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write to you an orderly account, most excellent Theophilus, that you may know the certainty of those things in which you were instructed.” "It Seemed Good" is our conscience. When our soul is aligned with the things of God, the more reliable our conscience will be. Remember, our conscience is the voice of our own spirit. And this is Jesus' whole point in saying, It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you.” Jesus went on to tell us, “All the Father has is mine, and the Holy Spirit will take of what is mine and declare it to you.”So, its to your advantage that I go.
Let there be LIGHT | The Prayer Experience with Jane Pratt | Sun 31st Oct 2021 Jane Pratt leads the Prayer Experience Team on this special edition. Clearly the Bible states that when we pray we are standing on the frontline on behalf of God's people against the darkness of this world. [2 Corinthians 4:6 NLT] For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. Let us PRAY.
God asked the question “who told you that?” The things they were experiencing were not coming from Him. You could go further and say that God was asking “who told you that you should be afraid? Who told you that you needed to hide? Who told you that you were guilty? Who told you that?” They were experiencing things straight from the enemy. The enemy acted like their friend and planted that seed of doubt about God's goodness. Then the enemy just waited for it to take root. When it finally did, the enemy switched sides and then started accusing them. -------- **This series is based on the book Don't Give The Enemy A Seat At Your Table” by Louie Giglio. Dear God I'm Grateful For Harmony.“How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! For harmony is as precious as the anointing oil that was poured over Aaron's head, that ran down his beard and onto the border of his robe. Harmony is as refreshing as the dew from Mount Hermon that falls on the mountains of Zion. And there the Lord has pronounced his blessing, even life everlasting.” - Psalms 133:1-3 NLT.The best way to live in harmony with each other is to live in love and service to others. .“We who are strong must be considerate of those who are sensitive about things like this. We must not just please ourselves. We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord. For even Christ didn't live to please himself. .As the Scriptures say, “The insults of those who insult you, O God, have fallen on me.” Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God's promises to be fulfilled. .May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, accept each other just as Christ has accepted you so that God will be given glory.”Romans 15:1-7 NLT.So above all, let us clothe ourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. (Colossians 3:14 NLT) For God is love and “Love means doing what God has commanded us, and he has commanded us to love one another, just as you heard from the beginning.” - 2 John 1:6 NLT.#Linkinbio #DearGodImGrateful #IronWifey #DGIG #love #harmony #peace #faith #gratitudechallenge #Jesus #Ironwifeymagazine #God #ironwifeypodcastnetwork #christianpodcast #podcastersofinstagram #podcast .STAY UP-TO-DATE WITH ALL THINGS IRONWIFEY:Instagram: @deargodimgrateful | @ironwifey_ | @ironwifeymagazineTwitter: @ironwifey_Facebook: IronWifeyIronWifey Magazine & Podcasts: https://www.ironwifeymagazine.comPlease Rate & Review, Like , Comment, & Subscribe!FEATURED MUSIC: Track: SkyHigh — Enine [Audio Library Release]Music provided by Audio Library PlusWatch: https://youtu.be/q-lf6x9cVXwFree Download / Stream: https://alplus.io/skyhigh
There is a difference between Fearing God and Fearing God. Christians must do both. Luke 12:4-5 (NLT) Dear friends, don't be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot do any more to you after that. 5 But I'll tell you whom to fear. Fear God, who has the power to kill you and then throw you into hell. Yes, he's the one to fear. Job 28:28 (NLT) And this is what he says to all humanity: ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.'” Deuteronomy 2:25 (NLT) Beginning today I will make people throughout the earth terrified because of you. When they hear reports about you, they will tremble with dread and fear.'” Psalm 33:8 (NLT) Let the whole world fear the Lord, and let everyone stand in awe of him. Christians should be in Fear of not pleasing God. Genesis 3:10 (NLT) He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.” Psalm 86:1-12 (NIV) A prayer of David. Hear me, Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. 2 Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; 3 have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long. 4 Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you. 5 You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. 6 Hear my prayer, Lord; listen to my cry for mercy. 7 When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me. 8 Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; no deeds can compare with yours. 9 All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord; they will bring glory to your name. 10 For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God. 11 Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name. 12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. God Does Not Give Fear 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. Jesus is the only savior from Fear. Romans 8:14-16 (NLT) For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. 15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children. Isaiah 41:10 (NLT) Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Joshua 1:9 (NLT) This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Psalm 23 (KJV) The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Butterfly, you are healed by His stripes. Thank You, Jesus, that by the shedding of your blood and that you were pierced for my rebellion, that I am healed.
Butterfly, you are called of God to the voice of His praise. Be willing to suffer for the Gospel because He saved you for His purpose. Happy June!!!!
Unstrapped “Beyond” 2Corinthians 9:6-15 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 2Corinthians 9:6 (NLT) And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 2Corinthians 9:8 (NLT) For God is the one who gives seed to the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will give you many opportunities to do good, and he will produce a great harvest of generosity in you. 2Corinthians 9:10 (NLT) Yes, you will be enriched so that you can give even more generously. 2Corinthians 9:11 (NLT) 1. I can give without FEAR. Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. And I will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. For I am the one who gives seed to the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, I will give you many opportunities to do good, and I will produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched so that you can give even more generously. 2Corinthians 9:6, 8, 10, 11 (NLT) 2. I can GROW in my giving. You must each make up your own mind as to how much you should give. Don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure. For God loves the person who gives cheerfully. 2Corinthians 9:7 (NLT) • Make giving a PRIORITY. Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the LORD Almighty, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Let me prove it to you! Malachi 3:10 (NLT) • Intentionally decide on a PLAN. • Take the NEXT STEP in giving. 3. I can receive God's overflowing ABUNDANCE. If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving—large or small—it will be used to measure what is given back to you.” Luke 6:38 (NLT) Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 (NLT)
Proverbs 3:9 (NLT) Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce. 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NLT) Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 1 Corinthians 16:2 (NLT) On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned. Don't wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once. Hebrews 6:10 (NLT) For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Romans 12:1 (NLT) And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Corinthians 5:14–15 (NLT) Either way, Christ's love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. 15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them. 1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
“The crucifixion didn’t become common in art until all who had seen a real one died off.” –C.S. Lewis 1. At the cross, our guilt is declared pardoned. Confess your guilt and accept His pardon. 2. At the cross, Jesus’ blood gives us life. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he [Jesus] bought with his own blood. (Acts 20:28) Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. (Hebrews 9:22) Through Jesus’ blood, you can have new life. 3. Through the cross, the grave is overthrown. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people. When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!” (Matthew 27:51-54) “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:54-57) And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. (1 Thessalonians 4:13 NLT) Because of the cross, we have hope. 4. At the cross, we see the measure of God’s love for us. Cross = Love No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded. (John 10:18 NLT) For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16) 5. The cross brings people to a decision. God made him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21) Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:42-43) For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)
Isaiah 41:10 (NLT) Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Psalm 56:2–4 (NLT) I am constantly hounded by those who slander me, and many are boldly attacking me. 3 But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. 4 I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? Romans 8:31b–34, 39 (NLT) What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? 32 Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't he also give us everything else? 33 Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. 34 Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God's right hand, pleading for us. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Joshua 1:9 (NLT) This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
“There is no need to panic.” Good evening Bikers Church family and friends, and to all who will be tuned into this broadcast; a very warm “Hello” and welcome to you too! My sermon topic for tonight, and I believe that is a word of encouragement to you all, is that: “There is no need to panic” Now some of you may have 2nd thoughts about this fact but let me assure you church, that there is REALLY no need to panic, for this too shall pass! Can I just say that I have it on high authority that his pandemic, this world crisis, and whatever situation or circumstances you will find yourself in right now, is subject to change, and will come to an end! So am I saying this because I have a friend at the W.H.O, or an insider at the National Epidemic Command Centre? Well, I have looked at the stats of past pandemics and epidemics, and yes, I have looked into the 20 worst pandemics, it’s origins and also how they all come to an end! For instance: Did you know that the Spanish Flu of 1918 lasted 2 years, infected 500 million people and killed 50 million across the globe? But it came to an end! You see folks plagues and pandemics have ravaged the human race throughout its existence, often changing the course of history and sometimes even signalling the end to entire civilizations. But there is no need to panic, child of God for I have it on good authority that: Romans 8:28 (Amp) – And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose. I know that many people are suffering right now, as a result of this pandemic, or it’s negative effects on the economy, our health care and life in general. But as Peter encouraged the church in: So, I would like to encourage you to church! 1 Peter 4:12 (Amp) – Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test you [that is, to test the quality of your faith], as though something strange or unusual were happening to you. You see, the trials and heartaches of life may sound like a call to evacuate, to run away and hide, to lock yourself in, or to respond to life in ways that are disheartening (ontmoedigende) and destructive; yes?? But we will all do better, much better, when we listen more closely and pay more attention to the Truth (God’s Word), instead of the facts! Pastor Leonard referred to: Psalm 130:5 – I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on Him. I have put my hope in His word.” So, Facts vs Truths, which one are you going to believe? Can I assure you church, that the trial or pandemic, may be noth8ing more than a reminder, that our faith, our trust and our hope must be rooted in God’s word and the promises of His word, NOT in people, scientist, governments, vaccines, but in the infallible (meaning: incapable of making mistakes or being wrong), word of God! Jesus Himself even gave this assurance in: John 16:33 (Amp) – “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] You see, God is reminding us that we will have trouble, challenges, trials and tribulations in this life, or this world, and we (even Believers) must expect this… but He has already overcome it all! He is already Victorious, and that same power is working in us as well, giving us the courage and strength to persevere and overcome! James 1:2 (NIV) - Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds. You see church, the only solution to this current crisis, especially for Christian believers is to pray, trust and obey! Many people will sadly put their hopes in the hands of others, trusting people instead of trusting God! But it is only in Christ and His Word, that we will find the peace and power to rise above our darkest hours! The Bible, God’s word to all believers is filled with so many promises to us, that we can take and make our own! Covenant promises to us! Yes, we need to be vigilant and careful. Yes, we must obey the current rules and regulations, but there is really no need to panic or fear! Well known scripture: 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) – For God did not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self-discipline. (well controlled, sound mind) You see church, no one wishes for hard times in life; no one asks for storms or suffering; no human being would want to go through deep hurt, rejection, suffering, pain, or loss… yet, this is all part of life, according to: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NIV) – There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, 8a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace. There is a time for everything! That is why God is reminding us time and time again, that these sufferings are part of our journey on earth to make us stronger, to build our faith and to transform us (to make similar) to the image and character of His Son, Amen? Church, you cannot build spiritual muscles by easy living! “No Pain, No Gain” is what serious Bodybuilders (like myself) will tell you! You need to earn your keep by faith in the Rock that cannot be moved! Just as many of the Biblical heroes of faith did (Hebrews 11 – read the Faith chapter as reference.) These heroes of the faith were tested, not through “easy” times, but through times of great suffering, difficulties, and persecution. They were hunted, torched alive, cut in two, fed to lions etc. But did not waver or become weak in their faith! And so, should we, amen?! So, I’m putting the ball in our court tonight, church: “To panic, or not to panic” that is the choice that you will have to make. I know that it can be a tough one, when you’re facing pain, loss and hard times, but if you choose to rejoice in everything you’re halfway there! And to choose not to allow our circumstances and feelings to get in the way of what we know is true, well that is powerful and life-changing! Conclude by saying: (Please hear this church) Jesus Christ suffered greatly for us and to share in His sufferings and to remember that we are victorious through Him, is all the reason why we should look forward with hope and joy, in the days still ahead, realizing, even confessing: “That there is no need to panic!” Amen!

Find below Bible Verses, Scriptures, Quotes & Passages about Trusting God instead of man. Psalm 118:8, KJV It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. Psalm 108:12, KJV Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man. Micah 7:5, ESV Put no trust in a neighbor; have no confidence in a friend; guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your arms; Proverbs 28:26, ESV Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe. Micah 7:7-8, ESV But as for me, I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me. Rejoice not over me, O my enemy; when I fall, I shall rise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord will be a light to me. Isaiah 2:22, NIV Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem? Deuteronomy 31:6, NASB Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Hebrews 13:5b, NLT For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” Psalm 27:10, NLT Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close. Proverbs 3:5-6, ESV Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Pastor Jill Windham Genesis 37:19-28 (NIV) “Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other. 20 “Come now, let's kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we'll see what comes of his dreams.” 21 When Reuben heard this, he tried to rescue him from their hands. “Let's not take his life,” he said. 22 “Don't shed any blood. Throw him into this cistern here in the wilderness, but don't lay a hand on him.” Reuben said this to rescue him from them and take him back to his father. 23 So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robe—the ornate robe he was wearing— 24 and they took him and threw him into the cistern. The cistern was empty; there was no water in it. 25 As they sat down to eat their meal, they looked up and saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead. Their camels were loaded with spices, balm and myrrh, and they were on their way to take them down to Egypt. 26 Judah said to his brothers, “What will we gain if we kill our brother and cover up his blood? 27 Come, let's sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him; after all, he is our brother, our own flesh and blood.” His brothers agreed. 28 So when the Midianite merchants came by, his brothers pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and sold him for twenty shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt. V 20-23 But while Joseph was there in the prison, 21 the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. 22 So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. 23 The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph's care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did. 1. What if this holding pattern is maturing me? Just because you have a dream doesn't mean it's time to live that dream. Dreams, like everything else that live, require a growing period and a birth. There's power in the process of staying connected to the tree until it's time to be picked. Luke 5:36-39 He also told them a parable: “No one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old one; otherwise he will both tear the new and the piece from the new will not match the old. And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the new fermenting wine will expand and burst the skins and it will be spilled out and the skins will be ruined. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.” 2. What if it's not safe to land yet? God doesn't want you just moved out of where you are. He also wants your heart to be changed in the meantime. 3. Am I stuck or just impatient? Matthew 24:36 (NLT) “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. Don't make a permanent decision in a place of temporary pain! 2 Timothy 2:11-12 (NLT) 11 And God chose me to be a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of this Good News. That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return. 4. What can I do while I'm stuck here? Genesis 40 14 And please remember me and do me a favor when things go well for you. Mention me to Pharaoh, so he might let me out of this place. 15 For I was kidnapped from my homeland, the land of the Hebrews, and now I'm here in prison, but I did nothing to deserve it.” V 20- 23 Pharaoh's birthday came three days later, and he prepared a banquet for all his officials and staff. He summoned his chief cup-bearer and chief baker to join the other officials. 21 He then restored the chief cup-bearer to his former position, so he could again hand Pharaoh his cup. 22 But Pharaoh impaled the chief baker, just as Joseph had predicted when he interpreted his dream. 23 Pharaoh's chief cup-bearer, however, forgot all about Joseph, never giving him another thought. Proverbs 18:16 (NLT) Giving a gift can open doors; it gives access to important people! Your gift can open your prison door! Romans 11:29 (NLT) For God's gifts and His call can never be withdrawn. You may feel forgotten by humans. Joseph was also forgotten by them. But God NEVER forgot Joseph. And He hasn't forgotten you. 5. What if you've been positioned for this time? We want to be the Biblical faith giant without the Biblical sized sacrifice they had to make to get there. V 37-44 37 Joseph's suggestions were well received by Pharaoh and his officials. 38 So Pharaoh asked his officials, “Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?” 39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, clearly no one else is as intelligent or wise as you are. 40 You will be in charge of my court, and all my people will take orders from you. Only I, sitting on my throne, will have a rank higher than yours.” 41 Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the entire land of Egypt.” 42 Then Pharaoh removed his signet ring from his hand and placed it on Joseph's finger. He dressed him in fine linen clothing and hung a gold chain around his neck. 43 Then he had Joseph ride in the chariot reserved for his second-in-command. And wherever Joseph went, the command was shouted, “Kneel down!” So Pharaoh put Joseph in charge of all Egypt. 44 And Pharaoh said to him, “I am Pharaoh, but no one will lift a hand or foot in the entire land of Egypt without your approval.” V 53-57 At last the seven years of bumper crops throughout the land of Egypt came to an end. 54 Then the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had predicted. The famine also struck all the surrounding countries, but throughout Egypt there was plenty of food. 55 Eventually, however, the famine spread throughout the land of Egypt as well. And when the people cried out to Pharaoh for food, he told them, “Go to Joseph, and do whatever he tells you.” 56 So with severe famine everywhere, Joseph opened up the storehouses and distributed grain to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe throughout the land of Egypt. 57 And people from all around came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph because the famine was severe throughout the world. 45:1-8 Joseph could stand it no longer. There were many people in the room, and he said to his attendants, “Out, all of you!” So he was alone with his brothers when he told them who he was. 2 Then he broke down and wept. He wept so loudly the Egyptians could hear him, and word of it quickly carried to Pharaoh's palace. 3 “I am Joseph!” he said to his brothers. “Is my father still alive?” But his brothers were speechless! They were stunned to realize that Joseph was standing there in front of them. 4 “Please, come closer,” he said to them. So they came closer. And he said again, “I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into slavery in Egypt. 5 But don't be upset, and don't be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was God who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives. 6 This famine that has ravaged the land for two years will last five more years, and there will be neither plowing nor harvesting. 7 God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors. 8 So it was God who sent me here, not you! And he is the one who made me an adviser to Pharaoh—the manager of his entire palace and the governor of all Egypt What if what you're going through isn't a setback, but a set UP? “God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve so many survivors.” You might be waiting. But God isn't waiting. He is moving and He is working.

I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back. Philippians 3v13-14 (MSG) 1. Refocusing begins with an INSIDE LOOK. See Haggai 1v1-7 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalms 139v23-24 (NLT) 2. Refocusing is TRADING my PRIORITIES for His. The people are saying, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.'” Haggai 1v2 (NLT) For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6v2 (NLT) 3. Refocusing is RECOGNIZING that HE is with me. See Haggai 1v12-14 Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Psalm 57:7-10 (NLT) My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises! Wake up, my heart! Wake up, O lyre and harp! I will wake the dawn with my song. I will thank you, Lord, among all the people. I will sing your praises among the nations. For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.Where we hear praise, He hears faith.Psalm 150 "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord."The very first thing we have to acknowledge is that; worship was given to us by God as a spiritual avenue to connect on a more authentic level with His presence. It's really not so much about style and preference. It should never be about what kind of mood we're in, or what we think we might need from Him.When we worship in those times when we don't feel like it, it's even more treasured - AW TozerYou see, it's in those times that we take a step of faith and offer our sacrifice of praise. When we hear praise, He hears faith. It's about us using our voices to exalt our God through a song. It's a place where we get to honor God with our words and our heart. Worship is one of the most spiritual things a Christian can take part in.John 4:24 (NLT)“For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”Make no mistake about it, although we are not to rely on emotion, worship will absolutely impact us emotionally. After all, we're emotional people. When your spirit connects on a spiritual level with your Creator, there's no avoiding emotion.Throughout the scriptures we see that God's people are emotional people when it comes to worship. They would worship so loud that surrounding cities would not only hear them, they would feel it.Psalm 67 Let the peoples praise You, O God; LET ALL THE PEOPLE PRAISE YOU. Then the earth shall yield her increase and the Almighty shall bless us.And just in case you think it’s not for you, or maybe you struggle engaging in a deeper level of worship, why don't you ask God to help you in your worship. At the end of the day, we’re simply bringing something to God from our hearts, connecting with His presence.Awake my soul! Be exalted O God above to heavens.Psalm 100 Come into His presence with singing. Know He made us and we are His people. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations. One of the wonderful privileges of gathering for worship is the awesome opportunity to create such an atmosphere that when new people show up they actually feel His presence when they walk into the room.“There’s a sound I love to hear, it’s the sound of the Savior’s robe as He walks into the room.” Hillsong Worship - Awake My SoulRevelation 4:11 (NLT)“You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.”This is why worship was given to us by God as a spiritual avenue to connect on a more authentic level with His presence. So often it’s our sacrifice of praise that’s the on ramp to our breakthrough.I pray our talk inspires a more authentic, intentional heart of worship in all of us. Awake our souls, O God! So that it not only impacts our personal life, but that it becomes so contagious that it changes impacts who we are as a church. Truth is, at the end of the day, worship is a heart thing.1 Samuel 16 For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. This may take a minute to sink in, but the reality is, the way we are with people is the way we are with God.So for those of us that have some understanding of worship, when we come together for worship, let’s be aware that we’re helping others by setting the best example we possibly can. But because today's society has become so spectator driven, it easy for us to attend worship service on Sunday's like we're attending a concert.A big part of worshipping together is being aware that any Sunday could be someone's first real experience in authentic worship with their Heavenly Father.I can tell you from experience, the more I practice worship in my private life, the more comfortable I am in public worship. Just like with anything else in life, the more we do something, the better we are at it.The more worship is a lifestyle for us, not only will our public worship be more influential, but more enjoyable.Don’t kid yourself, if you’re not enjoying your own worship, what makes you think He is.Romans 12 (MSG) So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life, your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.As we put into practice Paul’s instructions here, our worship goes from just an activity we do on Sunday's to a lifestyle we embrace. The danger is, when we refuse to make room in our lives for worship, we automatically fill that space with something else. This is one of David’s points in Ps. 57, Awake my soul, my praise wakes up the morning. I cannot overstate the importance of starting our day with the Lord. Taking those little moments throughout the day to inwardly acknowledge Him.Psalm 113 Let the name of the Lord be praised, both now and forevermore. From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.
1 Peter 2:21, NLT: "For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps."

NOT AFRAID 1. We live by faith, not by fear. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” John 14:1 NIV “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27 NIV “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 NLT For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7 NLT For we live by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV 2. We are sacrificial, not selfish. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. Philippians 2:3- 4 NLT All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Acts 2:44-45 NIV Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts ... Acts 2:46 NIV Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:46-47 NIV 3. We shine the light, we do not hide it. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 NIV But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all- surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 NIV TALK IT OVER Are you dealing with any fears or anxieties right now? What are they? Would you describe your faith as more of a weekly faith or a daily faith? What are some ways you could live out your faith more during the week? How can you put others first and bring hope to those who need it this week?
2 Corinthians 5:19-20 (NLT)For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”The greatest thing you can do with your life is to tell somebody about Jesus and invite them to come to know him. If you help somebody secure their eternal destiny that they spend the rest of their life in heaven and not hell that’s what I would call making your life count! Nothing matters more than helping get their eternal destiny settled. They will be forever, ever grateful and thank you for the rest of eternity. That is the greatest thing you can do with your life And God uses ordinary people. Not just pastors and missionaries. Just ordinary people to advance his Kingdom.Ordinary peopleEmpowered by GodMaking a difference togetherWherever we are. Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/yourdailybible)
What does it mean to follow Jesus? Don’t forget to subscribe to this podcast so you don’t miss a single episode. Sometimes we trust people better than we do Jesus. Jesus says “Follow Me.” This command isn’t just for people in the Bible. It’s for us too. 1 Peter 2:21 NLT For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. How can I follow Jesus if I can’t see Him? Matt 16:24 NLT Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me. There are numerous things we see in Jesus example… Suffering is the one He listed here . But His example also includes His Love Knowledge of Scripture Prayer Life Miracles John 14:12 NLT “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. I want to give you a reminder to put in a 5X7 frame in your house. See the link below. And why was going to the Father so significant? Following God had been the real question Israel faced 40 years prior to the event in Joshua 3. Joshua 3:2 NIV After three days the officers went throughout the camp, 3giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. 4Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. But keep a distance of about two thousand cubits (about ½ mile) between you and the ark; do not go near it.” God was saying “Follow the ark.” Why was that so important? They had never been that way before. Follow the ark is a picture of following Jesus. Obey Him at a new level. Go deeper. Grow your faith. Who do you need to witness to? Who do you need to have over for dinner to encourage them? What is your step of obedience! What was so special about the Ark? I am so glad you asked that question…you did ask, didn’t you? It’s a picture of Jesus. It helps us know Jesus better! Hebrews 9:1NLT That first covenant between God and Israel had regulations for worship and a place of worship here on earth. 2There were two rooms in that Tabernacle. In the first room were a lampstand, a table, and sacred loaves of bread on the table. This room was called the Holy Place. 3Then there was a curtain, and behind the curtain was the second room called the Most Holy Place. 4In that room were a gold incense altar and a wooden chest called the Ark of the Covenant, which was covered with gold on all sides. Inside the Ark were a gold jar containing manna, Aaron’s staff that sprouted leaves, and the stone tablets of the covenant. 5Above the Ark were the cherubim of divine glory, whose wings stretched out over the Ark’s cover, the place of atonement. But we cannot explain these things in detail now. How is the Ark of the Covenant a picture of Jesus? The Ark was made of wood Overlaid with gold- Jesus- fully God and fully man Lid of the Ark of the Covenant Pure gold. The gold represented God. Only God can redeem us. We call it the Mercy Seat. That name comes from the word comes "khapporet" which simply means to make atonement, restitution or amends. Blood on the lid once a year. The atonement- Day of Atonement (Lev. 16:14-15) Covering- the blood of animals could not cleanse sin, it could only cover it. Jesus, the lamb of God gave His life to cleanse us from sin completely. Meeting place Moses met with God and God talked to him from the Ark. (Exodus 25:22) God wants to meet with you. Talk to you. Inside the Ark Laws of God- His covenant with believers that was fulfilled in Christ Pot of Manna- Provision Aaron’s rod that budded- Spiritual Authority Follow the ark When the Israelites were instructed to follow the ark they were following more than ideology, they were following God. They were following the picture of a promise that would be fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Follow Jesus. He is both the atonement and the High Priest of the atonement. He is the final authority. He satisfied the covenant so you can enjoy the benefits of that covenant. Obedience is not like a buffet where you can pick and choose. Even when His ways seem hard, follow Jesus. You not following Jesus if you are doing things YOUR way. You can’t follow Jesus running ahead of Him. I want to give you a free reminder. I like to have reminders in my home and on my phone that help me remember truths that are important to me. I made two simple reminders for you that simply say “Follow Jesus” that will fit in a 5X7 frame that you can put beside your bed or wherever you will see it to remind you during your day. When you see the reminder, ask yourself, "Did I follow Jesus today?" In my choices? attitudes? with my time? with my talents? I encourage you to change your reminder when you need a different one. JOEL 1:I feel the need to comment about chapter 9 of Esther and how the Jews “got rid” of their enemies. Remember that those Jews were not Christians. (I know how silly that sounds, but it is actually a common supposition among naive Christians.) The revelation of God’s will did not come all at once, and the Jews did not have the pleasure of knowing what Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount or other pertinent NT passages. They most certainly did NOT ‘get rid’ of their enemies, except in the short run. All the relatives of the enemies slain raised up succeeding generations of people who hated the Jews even more fiercely than the first enemies did. We Christians must read Esther 9 remembering how the Jews had been slaughtered and then taken away from their land by force put into slavery in Babylonia. It is just amazing to me how the cycle of ‘getting rid of enemies’ has continued, right up to Hitler (the modern Haman), and right up to the conflicts in the middle east today. The cycle will stop and real peace will only happen when the True King returns. Joel is the second book of the minor prophets in the Old Testament. We read the first one— Hosea, about two months ago. From now until the end of the year, we will start every day with a reading in the minor prophets. Joel’s name means “Yahweh is God.” It is quite possible that Joel is one of the earliest of the prophets. He is called the ‘prophet of Pentecost’, since Peter quoted from Joel in his speech in Acts 2. The occasion of Joel’s message was a devastating plague of locusts which foreshadows the ‘Day of the Lord’— a time not for comfort for God’s people, but for punishment because of their sins. ISAIAH 44a:According to the NLT, in Is. 43:14 God said, 43:14 NLT “For your sakes I will send an army against Babylon, forcing the Babylonians to flee in those ships they are so proud of.” This is a very difficult verse to translate, and GNT’s translation can also be defended: 43:14 GNT Israel's holy God, the Lord who saves you, says,“To save you, I will send an army against Babylon;I will break down the city gates, and the shouts of her people will turn into crying. God said that the people of Israel had become tired of God and tired of bringing sacrifices. God will do something new: 43:25 NLT “I—yes, I alone—will blot out your sins for my own sakeand will never think of them again. These frequently quoted words are from the beginning of the chapter: 43:1b NLT “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.I have called you by name; you are mine.2 When you go through deep waters,I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up;the flames will not consume you. 2TIMOTHY 2:What was the spiritual gift that Timothy received when Paul placed his hands on him? Paul wanted Timothy to fan that gift into flame. (2Tim. 1:6) Is there a clue to what the gift was in the next verse?— 2Tim. 1:7 NLT “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” Paul says, 2Tim. 1:12 “I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.” What has Paul entrusted to the Lord? Is it a clue when Paul says, 2Tim. 1:14 “Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.” GNT Translation notes:2Tim. 2:21 Those who make themselves clean from all [the evil taught by false teachers//those evil things], will be used for special purposes, because they are dedicated and useful to their Master, ready to be used for every good deed.22 [Run away to escape from//Avoid] the passions of youth[.//, and] Strive for righteousness, [full belief//faith], love, and peace, together with those who with a pure heart call out to the Lord for help.26 And then they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the Devil, who [0//had] caught them and made them obey his will.

Paradigm Shift: A Study from the Sermon on the Mount (Episode 2, "Shift What is Right") “But I warn you—unless your righteousness is better than the righteousness of the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees, you will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven!" Matthew 5:20 (NLT) Don't ask, "Is it wrong?" ask, "Is it right?" Hate kills your relationships “You have heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not murder. If you commit murder, you are subject to judgment.’ But I say, if you are even angry with someone, you are subject to judgment! If you call someone an idiot, you are in danger of being brought before the court. And if you curse someone, you are in danger of the fires of hell." MATTHEW 5:21-22 (NLT) Lust cheats you from real love “You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart." MATTHEW 5:27-28 (NLT) “You have heard the law that says, ‘A man can divorce his wife by merely giving her a written notice of divorce.’ But I say that a man who divorces his wife, unless she has been unfaithful, causes her to commit adultery. And anyone who marries a divorced woman also commits adultery." MATTHEW 5:31-32 (NLT) Broken promises break trust “You have also heard that our ancestors were told, ‘You must not break your vows; you must carry out the vows you make to the Lord.’ But I say, do not make any vows! Do not say, ‘By heaven!’ because heaven is God’s throne. Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one." MATTHEW 5:33-34, 37 (NLT) Revenge never wins “You have heard the law that says the punishment must match the injury: ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say, do not resist an evil person! If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also. If you are sued in court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too. If a soldier demands that you carry his gear for a mile, carry it two miles. Give to those who ask, and don’t turn away from those who want to borrow." MATTHEW 5:38-42 (NLT) "But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect." MATTHEW 5:48 (NLT) For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. 2 CORINTHIANS 5:21 (NLT)
God still speaks and when he does, you know that he has spoken! God’s methodology is still the same: Visions, dreams, spirit whispers and his written and Living Word, Logos and Rhema Job 33:14-18 NLT “For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. He speaks in dreams, in visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they lie in their beds. He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings. He makes them turn from doing wrong; he keeps them from pride. He protects them from the grave, from crossing over the river of death.”

I used to think about courage in terms of doing 'big' physical things, like going on the giant swing at a Sport and Recreation camp, climbing out on the yard arm of a tall ship, and jumping off the 10m diving platform (I've never done that!). But then I heard a sermon about having courage for the 'little', but often life-changing moments, like starting a conversation with someone you don't know, opening a letter that you know you may not like the contents of, and learning how to confidently say how you really feel. Hearing that sermon, and it was quite a few years ago now, changed the way I approached the 'little' yet 'big' moments in my life. I started to see these moments as opportunities to build courage - essentially building a greater trust in Jesus. However, these moments/opportunities required more than trust, they required me to actually do something. I could say to myself, I trust You God, and then leave the letter unopened on the table for days. Am I really trusting God? No. It was not until I actually opened that letter that the trust went into action and I became courageous. And wow did that feel good! In my listening appointment with God this week, one of the things I felt God say to me was, 'have courage to let me do the work I want to do in you.' My immediate response was, 'Need more courage - I need to get more equipped!' . I know that over the years God has increased my courage, but this sounded like I was soon going to have some God-given opportunities to grow that courage to the next level and I didn't want to have fear sabotage the work God wanted to do in me. Earlier in the week I had set up a playlist called 'Courage' and it included songs like, 'You're gonna be OK' by Jenn Johnson; 'Take Courage' by Bethel Music; 'Your grace finds me' by Matt Redman; 'Lions' by Skillet; 'This I believe' by Hillsong Worship; 'Whom shall I fear' by Passion; 'No Longer Slaves' by Bethel; 'Break every chain' by Jesus Culture and 'Another in the Fire' by Hillsong United; 'Oh Fear (My God is Near)' by Moriah Peters. So I added some more songs to the list and started playing them and declaring their truth Then I made a list of some scriptures relating to courage .... Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV The Lord is my revelation-light to guide me along the way; he’s the source of my salvation to defend me every day. I fear no one! I’ll never turn back and run from you, Lord; surround and protect me. Psalm 27:1 TPT Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9 NKJV Also David told Solomon his son, Be strong and courageous, and do it. Fear not, be not dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail or forsake you until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord. 1 Chronicles 28:20 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15 NLT Remember to say alert and hold firmly to all that you believe. Be mighty and full of courage. Let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that you do. 1 Corinthians 16:13 TPT We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies. Yes, we live under constant danger of death because we serve Jesus, so that the life of Jesus will be evident in our dying bodies. 2 Corinthians 4:8-11 NLT For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV So now I daily worship and mediate on these truths, declaring that God has indeed not given me a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind, and when the prompting from the Holy Spirit comes, step out trusting that He has gone before me. No fear, in Jesus Name. Perhaps there is something in your life that requires you to step out and be courageous, and yet you hesitate. I pray that as you read this post and take time to read again the truth from our God, that trust and courage will rise up and you will be able to just do it - in Jesus Name. Trust that God has gone before you. For God will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control. 1 Timothy 1:7 TPT To find out more please visit https://wendyrobinson.com.au
Download Podcast What a bargain! You can listen to this podcast in iTunes. When we saw the price on the beautiful two-storied brick house, we knew we had to see it. But, when the realtor unlocked the door, we covered our nose and held our breathe—it stunk…really stunk…bad. The tall walls, elaborately crowned with carved molding, wore the tattered strips of what had been wallpaper. The big old house had numerous amenities that hinted it had once been beautiful, but time and it’s most recent and unusual residents had almost destroyed it. The owners had wintered their unruly kids, KIDS as in goats, in the house. And believe me when I tell you, it was a terrible…horrible…no good…really bad idea! As bad as a skunk! What were the owners thinking? Their crazy idea gives new meaning to Zig Ziglar’s term “stinkin’ thinkin'!” Allowing the goats to live in their house turned it into a stinking mess. And your stinking thinking will do the same thing to your mind, heart, emotions and choices! Stinking thinking affects you physically, spiritually and emotionally!!! Stinking thinking can turn a molehill into a mountain. It can twist perceptions and turn a family gathering upside down. Suspicious or fearful thoughts can turn a wedding into a tragedy. Jealous or angry thoughts that fester and boil can lead to criminal and deadly choices. Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, and slander. What is your stinking thinking doing to you? God has a better plan for you. Please read these verses from Ephesians slowly. They are so important. Ephesians 4:17-24 NLT 17So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. (their opinion, their human reasoning) 18They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. 20That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. You can control your thinking. And you better control them because they will either poison you or position you for God’s best. How? If you are like me, maybe you are asking, “But how?” Basically, it’s a lot like farming. Weeds, like stinking thinking, are automatic, but the good things that we want to grow in our lives must be planted and nurtured. Fertilized. Watered. Weeded. We don’t want weeds. We want the seeds of good things to grow in our lives. So what are you planting? Even the youngest child understands If you want corn to grow, then you plant corn. They know if they plant birdseed they’ll grow birds…ha! Just teasing! Stinkin’ thinkin robs us, makes us feel yucky and afraid, which often causes us to make wrong choices. And we KNOW if we sow bad actions, we reap bad consequences! Right? But did you realize that it works in the positive too? An ordinary question that grabbed me A pastor answered my generic “How are things going?” with “Great. I’ve sowed good things and I’m reaping good things.” His reply was so much more than an empty mantra. It was an honest, unemotional reply to my question. That one sentence has hounded me! I’ve used that verse like a goad to encourage and sometimes manipulate my children into doing what they need to do! But why couldn’t I see that the verse works in the positive equally as well. Why haven’t I believed God that when I plant good things that I will reap good things? I want to get better at planting good stuff. Sometimes I am better at it than other times. I’ve noticed everywhere I go I see smiling faces. One day I realized that people are simply responding to my smile. That’s reaping what you planted at it’s simplest level. That is God’s law working in the positive! I plant kindness and thoughtfulness and I look for it in other people. And the wonderful thing is…I find exactly what I am looking for…almost every time! You’ve probably seen it work with something as simple as a smile, but can God’s Word change our stinking thinking? Powerful enough? I wouldn’t say this if I didn’t know it personally, but yes, God’s Word is powerful enough to change not only what you think, but also what you believe. His Word is pregnant with hope. It will birth hope in your heart. God’s words are like buckets full of cool water on a sizzling hot day, like buckets full of His love. Don’t underestimate the power of God’s Word. Peggy Williams says, “praise God for the power of His written and spoken Words. Words that create, heal, resurrect, calm waters, create abundance out of lack, wine out of water, and make saints out of sinners.” The problem is not in the seed. God’s Word is powerful enough to accomplish what needs to be done, so the problem is not in the seed. You have a role in this process. Weeds thrive without any assistance, but good crops must be nurtured. Are you nurturing and cultivating God’s Word in both your mind and heart? Are you cultivating it by renewing your mind, examining and ruminating on specific Scriptures in your heart? Then, do you align your choices with Scripture so you walk in the truth that produces the fruit you want instead of choosing to believe only what you see? Big deal? Maybe you are thinking, why do you keep harping on feeding your spirit, planting the Word, meditating on Scripture? What's the Big Deal? It is a huge deal because it affects your heart. Your heart shapes the core of who you are. It is where you grow your beliefs, strengthen or undermine your will and hone your character. Luke 6:45 NIV “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” I want good treasure to come out of my heart. So what do I need to do? Proverbs 4:23 NIV “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. The NLT says "for it determines the course of your life." Above everything? Really? The things that make their way into your heart, the thoughts and ideas that you mix with faith and believe will affect everything- mind, body and spirit. Most of us understand the value of caring for our body, yet we don’t seem to practice that same wisdom when it comes to our thoughts. Real wholeness begins with wholesome thinking. Guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. That is both a scary thought AND a wonderful thought. It is scary because it is a huge responsibility and wonderful because I can plant and nurture the right seed to produce the virtues that I want to enjoy and share with others. You can’t have a good harvest without strategic planting and it all begins with right thinking! This is not a rigid formula. Walking with God is a relationship. Right thinking affects right believing; right believing leads to obedience and obedience positions us for a good harvest. 2 Corinthians 9:10 NLT For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Listen, my son, and be wise, and guide your heart on the right course. Proverbs 23:19 BSB So let me ask you again...What are you nurturing? If you haven't subscribed to my podcast, please do. Download Podcast Transformed…the word brings a smile to my face. The first picture that comes to my mind is that of a dirty, ragged Cinderella. I can picture her pitiful, ash smudged and tear tracked face suddenly grow radiant as she is transformed into a beautiful princess. Can you see it too? Only a Fairy Tale. But Wait, that’s a fairy tale and fairy tales only exist in storybooks! And besides that, I just described conformity not transformation!! All she had was new clothes and a great pair of shoes. A new outfit can go a long ways toward making you feel better, but it can’t transform you! Conformity copies and imitates to make you feel accepted, valued and included. Conformity changes the look, the opinion and the appetite to camouflage the darkness inside. It is the enemy of transformation because it is rooted in deception. Romans 12:2 NIV Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Don't conform, transform. Transform…transform by renewing your mind. The word used in Romans 12:2 is metamorphoó, which is closely related to metamorphosis. The butterfly is one of the most amazing illustrations of metamorphosis. In this process the caterpillar is totally transformed into a butterfly. Just ask any preschooler, that has read “The Hungry Caterpillar", and they can tell you how the butterfly egg hatches into a hungry caterpillar. They know it eats and eats and eats. And, you know that too if you have ever had caterpillars on a bush at your house. And, because it eats so much, the caterpillar grows very fast. The purpose of this stage is growth. I need to stop here to ask you, “Are you hungry for God’s Word?” If you’re not hungry something is wrong. It’s essential to your growth. God has more in mind for you than just growth. God’s purpose is greater than just a fat caterpillar. He wants to move this creature to a place where it can be fruitful or reproduce. Next, the caterpillar spins a sack around its whole body and the pupa stage begins. In the pupa stage of development everything changes; its tissues, its legs, its organs--EVERYTHING. The changes that go on inside the strong sack like covering are mind (Pun intended.) boggling! The caterpillar literally dissolves into a rich fluid. This fluid contains the building blocks that are transformed into one of God’s most beautiful creatures. Pupil We get our English word pupil/student from the word pupa. Just as the pupa stage is the transformation stage for a butterfly, a believer must become a pupil or learner of God’s Word for transformation to take place. Make time in your schedule to be a serious student. Wrap yourself in the cocoon of God’s presence and ask Him to guide your thinking and open your understanding. Students are looking for more than facts, their goal is wisdom that can be applied. Read or listen with an open heart; diligently studying, pondering and assimilating God’s Word. Pray over what you are learning. Ask God for revelation and inspiration. Look for “What is God saying to me?” Write it down. Ask; “How do I live this out?” Assimilating and digesting Scripture means that the Bible is more than facts or seeds stored in a jar with the lid screwed on tight that you tuck in the back of your garage. God’s Word are bite sized nuggets that you mix with faith and digest so that it nourishes your mind, spirit and body. Although the butterfly you see on your bush is probably the same creature that was just recently eating all the leaves off somebodies favorite shrub, you’ll never see a butterfly munching its way across a leaf; because it doesn’t have a mouth that can chew. Its body has six long skinny legs that fold instead of 16 short, stubby ones that it crawled with as a caterpillar. It is totally changed!! Totally. And God says the same thing about you. 2 Corinthians 5:17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The Old life is gone; a new life has begun!” Transformation It is a miraculous transformation that is an ongoing process in the life of a believer to become more and more like Christ. It is critical that I make sure that I have made one thing clear. The kind of transformation that I am talking about can only take place because you are a child of God. You cannot stick a worm in a cocoon and expect it to transform into a butterfly. God is the transformer! 2 Timothy 3:5 NLT “They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly.” The butterfly sucks nectar because it is a butterfly, not because it is acting like a butterfly. It is God’s power that makes you a new creature, but you can and should continue to grow in faith and become more like Him—that is a process. In God’s divine design... He perfectly equipped the butterfly with everything it needs to live and reproduce in this new stage of life. It needs a proboscis, a party-horn like straw that unfurls to suck the sweet nectar that fuels its flight. The butterfly needs wings to fly from flower to flower tasting the flower with its feet. Some butterflies fly hundreds and thousands of miles to migrate to warmer regions in the winter. On its way back home, it will lay its eggs to begin a new cycle all over again. Reproduction is the purpose of this cycle of its life. God’s goal and purpose behind transformation is to make you like Christ. Colossians 3:10 NLT Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. Philippians 2:13 NLT For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. Because of the process of transformation, a butterfly has everything it needs for its next assignment; fruitfulness via reproduction. And God has done the same thing for you. 2 Peter 1:3,4 3By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 4And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires https://www.etymonline.com/word/pupil https://www.thebutterflysite.com/life-cycle.shtml
God is With Us, I Shall Not Be Afraid1. Understanding How Faith Brings Victory Over Fear2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear (timidity andcowardice), but of power and of love and of a sound mind.• Fear – anxiety, depression, torment, intimidation and insecurity• If you find yourself afraid, you will find yourself not believing GodMk 4:40 “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?”• Identify Fear – not knowing what the fear is, is what gives it power• Once the fear is identified, we must attack it with God's promisesLk 8:25 But He said to them, “Where is your faith?”2. Peace can be found, peace can be felt. Both internally and externally. Rest in that peace and then give it away to others. Denise McKinney concludes our study on dwelling with Christ by encouraging us to live into the peace of Christ. I will be like a shepherd looking for his scattered flock. I will find my sheep and rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on that dark and cloudy day. I will bring them back home to their own land of Israel from among the peoples and nations. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel and by the rivers and in all the places where people live. Yes, I will give them good pastureland on the high hills of Israel. There they will lie down in pleasant places and feed in the lush pastures of the hills. I myself will tend my sheep and give them a place to lie down in peace, says the Sovereign LORD. I will search for my lost ones who strayed away, and I will bring them safely home again. I will bandage the injured and strengthen the weak. Colossians 1:19-20 (NLT) For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. Colossians 1:19-20 (MSG) So spacious is he, so roomy, that everything of God finds its proper place in him without crowding. Not only that, but all the broken and dislocated pieces of the universe—people and things, animals and atoms—get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, his blood that poured down from the cross. Peace is not the absence of struggle or pain, but the unmistakable and strong presence of God in it. Philippians 4:7 (NIV) And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Peace isn’t the absence of conflict or differences, or even war, but the intentional movement toward reconciling and restoring people to God and to each other. Ephesians 2:14-17 (NIV) For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. Message Title: Lift Your Head Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:1-4 (NIV) This Christmas season we don't need change of situation… as much as we need a change of perspective. People LIVING in FEAR Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear… Isaiah 8:12-22 (NIV) Distressed and hungry, they will roam through the land; when they are famished, they will become enraged and, looking upward, will curse their king and their God. Isaiah 8:12-22 (NIV) Then they will look toward the earth and see only distress and darkness and fearful gloom, and they will be thrust into utter darkness. Isaiah 8:12-22 (NIV) People LOST in DARKNESS Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress… Isaiah 9:1-3 (NIV) The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. Isaiah 9:1-3 (NIV) You have enlarged the nation and increased their joy; they rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest, as warriors rejoice when dividing the plunder. Isaiah 9:1-3 (NIV) People EXHAUSTED from the FIGHT For as in the day of Midian's defeat, you have shattered the yoke that burdens them, the bar across their shoulders, the rod of their oppressor. Every warrior's boot used in battle and every garment rolled in blood will be destined for burning, will be fuel for the fire. Isaiah 9:4-5 (NIV) For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. Isaiah 9:1-7(NIV) And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:1-7(NIV) Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. Isaiah 9:1-7(NIV) COMFORT in your circumstance. …The Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5(NIV) For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5(NIV) Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT) For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) PERSPECTIVE on your responsibility. We want God to change our CIRCUMSTANCES… God wants to change US. Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God's right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. Colossians 3:1-10 (NLT) For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. Colossians 3:1-10 (NLT) So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you… Colossians 3:1-10 (NLT) Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. Colossians 3:1-10 (NLT) HOPE for your tomorrow. …In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you... 1 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV) When eternity is our perspective… our circumstances aren't permanent. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 (NIV) I am doing better than I think I am, and God is doing more than I think He is.
Jesus describes himself as the Good Shepherd: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11, NLT) This is in contrast to the other leaders of the people in the past who were bad leaders/shepherds (Ezekiel 34:2-4). However, while many people like to be comforted by the words of Psalm 23, the blessings outlined in it are conditional. Just like the sheep follow their shepherd, so too those who want the blessings from the Good Shepherd must follow him. Just like in Jesus' time, so too today sheep respond to the voice of their shepherd. One person recounts: “...seeing many flocks mingled at a watering place. When one shepherd was ready to leave he simply walked away, making a certain sound. Immediately, his sheep separated themselves from the others and followed him. His sheep followed him because they knew his voice.” (Herschel H. Hobbs, My Favorite Illustrations (Nashville, TN: Broadman Press, 1990), 157.) The blessings of Psalm 23 are clear and comforting. But in order to experience them, we need to be followers of Jesus: “I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me,” (John 10:14, NLT) To have that relationship with the Good Shepherd, to start to follow him, we need to place our trust in him for forgiveness of sins, and for eternal life. Jesus gave up his life for us, and we ought to believe and trust in him. “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11, NLT) “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16, NLT)

Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Philippians 2:3-5 (NLT) For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Galatians 5:13 (NLT) Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:13-14 (NLT) True freedom comes with a level of personal responsibility. …As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus… was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Mark 10:46-47 (NIV) Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Mark 10:48 (NIV) Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” Mark 10:49 (NIV) So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He's calling you.” Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. Mark 10:49-50 (NIV) “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. Mark 10:51 (NIV) The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” Mark 10:51 (NIV) “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. Mark 10:52 (NIV) Walking with Jesus, means paying attention to the marginalized. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” Matthew 8:2 (NIV) Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Matthew 8:3 (NIV) Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Matthew 8:3 (NIV) “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. Matthew 25:34 (NLT) For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.' Matthew 25:35-36 (NLT) “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?' Matthew 25:37-39 (NLT) “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!' Matthew 25:40 (NLT) When we truly follow Jesus… we will stop identifying people by their brokenness and will start seeing them how HE sees them. Our Job is to bring people to Jesus, not change them for our comfort. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord's favor has come.” Luke 4:18-19 (NLT) He rolled up the scroll, handed it back to the attendant, and sat down. All eyes in the synagogue looked at him intently. Then he began to speak to them. “The Scripture you've just heard has been fulfilled this very day!” Luke 4:20-21 (NLT) Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14:6 (NLT) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 (NIV) For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:17 (NIV) Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Ephesians 3:20 (NLT) Never forget the life YOU left behind But you are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God's instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you—from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted. 1 Peter 2:9-10 (MSG) For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Galatians 5:13 (NLT) Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Galatians 5:13-14 (NLT) The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT) He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. 2 Peter 3:9 (NLT)
He went first to Nazareth, then left there and moved to Capernaum, beside the Sea of Galilee... From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” Matthew 4:13, 17 (NLT) One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew—throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living. Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!” And they left their nets at once and followed him. A little farther up the shore he saw two other brothers, James and John, sitting in a boat with their father, Zebedee, repairing their nets. And he called them to come, too. They immediately followed him, leaving the boat and their father behind. Matthew 4:18-22 (NLT) Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed—he healed them all. Large crowds followed him wherever he went... Matthew 4:23-25 (NLT) 1. Occupy with VISION Without prophetic vision people run wild, but blessed are those who follow God's teachings. Proverbs 29:18 (GW) Without a clear vision for your life, you will just aimlessly wander. Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9:35-36 (NLT) He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.” Matthew 9:37-38(NLT) For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19 (NLT) So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:19-21 (NLT) 2. Occupy with AUTHENTICITY …He asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” Matthew 16:13 (NLT) “Well,” they replied, “some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say Jeremiah or one of the other prophets.” Then he asked them, “But who do you say I am?” Matthew 16:14-15 (NLT) Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah the Son of the living God.” Matthew 16:16 (NLT) And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; Matthew 3:16 (ESV) and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:16-17 (ESV) God doesn't need you… God wants you. For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10(NLT) Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Ephesians 4:1 (NLT) The Lord doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 (NLT) 3. Occupy with FAITHFULNESS “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities. And if you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? And if you are not faithful with other people's things, why should you be trusted with things of your own? Luke 16:10-12 (NLT) People should be shocked by the size of the vision in your heart AND by the dedication to the task in your hand. If you will be faithful with what God put in your hand, He'll make sure you fulfill what He has put in your heart. So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it… Romans 12:1-2The Message (MSG)
Title: MARKED (Acts 20:24) (NLT) But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2) (NIV) Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. Reasons we don't run: 1. Fear of Harm (2 Timothy 1:7) (NLT) For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2. Identity Crisis (Jeremiah 31:3) (MSG) “I've never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love, and more love! (Ephesians 3:18) (NLT) And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. SIX KEYS TO RUN THE RACE 1. Prepare (1 Corinthians 9:25) (NLT) All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 2. Perceive (1 Corinthians 9:25) (NLT) All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 3. Purpose (1 Corinthians 9:26) (NLT) Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. When people lose their WHY they lose their WAY. 4. Proceed (1 Corinthians 9:24) (NLT) Don't you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 5. Pursue (1 Corinthians 9:24) (NLT) Don't you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! (Philippians 3:14) (NLT) I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. 6. Persist (1 Corinthians 9:27) (NIV) No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize. (2 Timothy 4:7) (NIV) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. "In order to run our race and finish our course, we need to understand that God has an appointed time that is usually different to our due date." –Christine Caine Vows of Mother Teresa God, I yield myself fully to you. I embrace your calling on my life. I will do your bidding without delay. I will refuse you nothing. I will endure all hardships. When I don't feel your presence, I will still be faithful. I will seek to love you as you have never been loved before. Here am I; send me.
Suzanne Lederer leads us in connecting with God through Lectio Divina, or “Sacred Reading”. Colossians 1:19-22 (NLT) For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. Title of Message: What's Most Important (Psalm 103:2) (NKJV) Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: (John 20:29) Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (Matthew 1:18) This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:19) Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. (Matthew 1:20) But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:21) She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. (Matthew 1:25) But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus. Leaving a Legacy that Honors God: 1. Live with Guidelines. a. The greatest guide you'll every have is God. (Psalm 25:5) …guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long. (Psalm 25:9) He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. (Psalm 48:14) For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end. b. The greatest guideline you'll ever have is the Bible. (Psalm 119:105) Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path. 2. Lead with Grace. (Romans 3:25-26) (NLT) For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus. 3. Love to Give. (1 John 3:16) We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.
Grace. What is it? How do we experience it? What do we do with it? Join us for this in depth study of Grace and it's effect on our lives. Title of Message: Grace Defined Grace is GETTING what you don't deserve. Mercy is NOT GETTING what you DO deserve. 1. Grace is a choice. (Colossians 3:3) (NLT) “For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.” (1 John 2:1) (NLT) “My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.” (Romans 8:1) “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,” Do you trust your Advocate or your Accuser? 2. Grace took my place. Grace is God loving, God stooping, God coming to the rescue, God giving himself generously in and through Jesus Christ. –John Stott (Matthew 27:11) (NLT) “Now Jesus was standing before Pilate, the Roman governor. “Are you the king of the Jews?” the governor asked him. Jesus replied, “You have said it.” (Matthew 27:12-14) (NLT) But when the leading priests and the elders made their accusations against him, Jesus remained silent. “Don't you hear all these charges they are bringing against you?” Pilate demanded. But Jesus made no response to any of the charges, much to the governor's surprise. (Matthew 27:15-16) (NLT) Now it was the governor's custom each year during the Passover celebration to release one prisoner to the crowd—anyone they wanted. This year there was a notorious prisoner, a man named Barabbas. (Matthew 27:17-18) (NLT) As the crowds gathered before Pilate's house that morning, he asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you—Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?” (He knew very well that the religious leaders had arrested Jesus out of envy.) (Matthew 27:19) (NLT) Just then, as Pilate was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him this message: “Leave that innocent man alone. I suffered through a terrible nightmare about him last night.” (Matthew 27:20-21) (NLT) Meanwhile, the leading priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas to be released and for Jesus to be put to death. So the governor asked again, “Which of these two do you want me to release to you?” The crowd shouted back, “Barabbas!” (Matthew 27:22) (NLT) Pilate responded, “Then what should I do with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” They shouted back, “Crucify him!” 3. Grace is available for all. (Romans 3:23-24) (NLT) For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.
