NARCISSISTS AND CATHARSIS. Bryan and Katie Hampton from Geekscape's Napping Through Happy Hour Podcast shine a spotlight on a pair of sequel episodes. Do the hosts overcome their disdain towards the character of Peanut Hamper? Does another adventure in Boimler's holodeck movie universe generate the same surprise and excitement as the last time out? You'll just have to listen! The grades begin at (21:09). Jump to "Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus" at (52:35). Do you like sequels? Star Trek does, it basically always has, so it makes sense for Lower Decks to think about it with Crisis Point II - Paradoxus! Follow a back map with us as we discuss cute little guys, what makes a classy sequel, and also finding meaning in art, silly or otherwise.
Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus (Star Trek: Lower Decks, S3 E8) was recommended by Alex Russet, he/him , who said: This is one of my favorite episodes of this series alongside the finale for that season (Shax's finest hour was amazing.) The central conflict of Boimler trying to find meaning to life was fascinating to watch. Fun action scenes, a couple pokes at us fanfic writers not understanding story flow or proper exposition (I like to think I improved in that department... I hope...) and of course, Captain Sulu cameos is always a plus. Overall, a fun episode with a thoughtful central conflict. Hoping we see more of Will Boimler. As of me writing this Halloween 2024, there's still time.Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus first aired on October 13, 2022, written by Ben Rodgers, and directed by Michael MullenBoimler's holodeck movie sequel tries to live up to the original. The Joy of Trek is hosted by Khaki & Kay, with editing & production by Chief Engineer Greg and music by Fox Amoore (Bandcamp | Bluesky)Send us your recommendations, or support us on Patreon.Find us at joyoftrek.com · Twitter · Facebook

Dim the lights and put on some popcorn, it's movie night at Jaxilly! And the loudmouths in the theater this time are none other than Jack, Geoff, and Sean (with a special unbilled guest star (OK, it's Sam)) showing up to use Crisis Point 2 to reflect on movie tropes, endless quote the Simpsons, talk about the hottest pop culture (of late 2024), and remember that ANDOR makes this a double feature! JAXILLY WILL RETURN.

This week on Star Trek Lower Decks, its time for the biggest sequel in the history of Holodeck blockbusters as Boimler tries to outdo Mariners first adventure Crisis Point. Captain Dagger (Boimler) and his crew of the USS Wayfarer have to stop the Romulans from changing history when they steal a device called the Chronogami! But after some devastating news, Boimler is more concerned with finding out the true meaning of life so he makes Tendi acting Captain while he and Mariner go on their own holodeck quest for answers. With some great callbacks to almost every Star Trek movie, as well as some awesome guest voices, plus a cliffhanger to bring the house down, Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus comes at us at warp speed with some great character development and amazing visuals! Dan, Kasey and Bill have a great time talking about a sequel that is better than the original (kinda like TWOK and TMP) and also some big moments like Tendi wanting to be a Captain for real and how back fat can actually show you where the secret of life can be found (and yeah, that is as gross as it sounds). We have a fantastic time discussing everything that takes place in episode eight of Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 3 - "Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus"! Get your popcorn, take your seat and get ready for some great fun and discussion! WE COVER LOWER DECKS LIKE NO ONE ELSE Interested in great talk about Star Trek: Lower Decks? Tony and Laurie dive right in to all the Star Trek Universe news from New York Comic Con, which includes trailers, panel recaps, and post-panel interviews for Picard (Amanda Plummer! Moriarty! Pacifist Worf!), Prodigy (Jellico!), and Discovery (Callum Keith Rennie!). They then jump into their review of Lower Decks' epic “Crisis Point 2: Paradoxus,” with a lot of talk about how it honors (and even skewers) Star Trek movies. They wrap things up with a look at “Trek the Vote” and a sweet TNG reunion video from New York Comic Con.

With only two more weeks to go before Lower Decks season three wraps up, the show gives us one of its best episodes to date, "Crisis Point II: Paradoxus!" Join Erik, Girafe, Hawk, and Julian as they break this one down.Even numbers are usually better in the Trek universe! Did that theory hold? What happens when Boimler is hit with some tragic news? Does he find the meaning of life inside his own movie? Also, why is Tendi taking the film so seriously, and what revelation does she find out about herself? And finally, that big cliffhanger. What does it all mean? The SNP takes a deep dive into "Crisis Point II: Paradoxus."Plus, the strange new loop, possibly our longest easter egg hunt yet, and much more on episode 104 of Strange New Pod!Support the show
