Send me a one-way text about this episode! I'll give you a shout out or answer your question on a future episode.I realize for some believers this holiday is off limits due to their past and or their conscience before the Lord. I respect that because, while we all have freedom in Christ, each one of us should do as the Holy Spirit directs us. If that's you, feel free to skip this episode. For those of you who are on the fence or haven't really considered how Christians should think about Halloween, I'd like to present one perspective in today's episode. Is this really "the devil's day" and are we violating scripture by handing out candy? It is my prayer that this episode will encourage you to fear not, but rather seek the Lord's will for your family's participation (or not) in Halloween. I am also giving some practical suggestions for fun couples and family costumes as well as my (new) favorite fall candies.
In this eye-opening talk with ZOE Co Founder Tim Spector, a renowned professor of genetic epidemiology and expert in nutrition, dives deep into the critical role of gut health in maintaining overall well-being. Spector emphasises the importance of a diverse, plant-based diet to support a healthy gut microbiome, which influences not only digestion but also obesity, mental health, and immune function. He advocates for reducing the intake of ultra-processed foods and highlights the benefits of fermented foods like yogurt and kimchi. Additionally, Spector calls for government regulation of food advertising and stresses the importance of obtaining nutrients from whole foods rather than relying on supplements. The good news for a news station like Newstalk is that the public appetite to stay up to date is as strong as ever according to the latest PTSB Reflecting Ireland study. Even better news is that Radio and TV are the 2 most trusted sources for news. But there is a growing sense of distrust about the reliability of social media as a source of news. The research also found that worries about the economy have abated a little compared to last year. Leontia Fannin the Head of Commercial Affairs with Permanent TSB Bank discusses the findings of the research.

In this episode Michael talks to Jennifer Belmore a 10-year Real Estate agent with Windermere in Vancouver WA and Portland Or. Jennifer is married and a mother of 2 teenage boys. Early on in her career she realized there is a lot to know to get started in real estate and so to help other new agents she started creating useful information in a group on Facebook. This Facebook group grew and today is a valuable resource to brokers in Jennifer's market area. Her private group is called Vancouver WA haves and wants. She has topics for each day of the week and here information is created to help brokers become more informed with real estate situations and resources. I love the saying that when we know better, we do better. This is a great example of someone using technology, social media, and the collective brain power of many to help other brokers do better. Are you aware of how deception works? Are you immune just because you think you know? Do you know the best manipulators are guised as Trusted Sources in the Freedom movement? Tiny Lies are still lies. Distractions are still the circus, and pull you off course from the objective. We Talk with Scott Schara, Creator of the podcast and Rumble channel Deprogramming with Grace's Dad. You can find out all about Grace here:https://ouramazinggrace.netToday was the 81st Anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Franklin Roosevelt ordered ships from San Diego to Pearl Harbor prior to the attack, and ordered the planes at Pearl to be pushed closely together. The goal of our president was maximum destruction of a US military base and equipment. Lives be damned. He manipulated the frightened, grieving, an angry for the political goal of acceptance of war declaration. Those newly inspired with a sense of patriotism, a sense of being wronged, didn't go after FDR and hold him or Congress accountable. Instead they pledged their lives for his war. Mind Manipulation. The country cast aside their differences and were galvanized under the sense of duty, honor, and justice. It was a historical, unique event... Until the next one. On September 11th, 2001 the nation was again attacked from within using a proxy [perhaps]. In allegiance with the City of London and the state of Israel, infiltrators at the highest level had again inflicted tragedy to galvanize the many into support of another war, and the adoption of the Creator Endowed Rights killing Patriot Act. Which was named after who it targets. Americans. We are living in a surveillance and police state. Just get out of line, and it will reveal itself. This week on Star Trek Lower Decks, Captain Freeman gets her wish as "Project Swing By" is approved by Starfleet Command! The Cerritos has been chosen for the first mission to return to, of all places, Omara - you know the drug addict planet from TNGs Symbiosis? You would think the mission was a piece of cake, but this is Lower Decks, so nothing goes as planned - especially when a reporter from the FNN comes on board to do a report on the Cerritos and its mission. Not only does Freeman have to deal with a potentially damning interview from, of all people, Mariner, but she also has to deal with an old enemy of the Federation during a sneak attack! There is a pie eating contest, there is great artwork about life on Ornara and there are great messages about trust and friendship on this penultimate episode of season 3, Trusted Sources! Dan, Kasey and Bill have a great time talking about every aspect of Episode 9! From Starbase 80 to the planet Brekka, strap in and get ready for some great fun and discussion! But when Captain Freeman assumes the worst about her daughter's unauthorized interview, her epic overreaction forces Mariner to choose between Starbase 80 and striking out on her own. Is nepotism still legal in some states? How are we supposed to feel about Captain Freeman? Is a bunk bed shuttle the ultimate indignity? Finally, Captain Freeman's initiative for "follow-up" missions is getting underway. The Cerritos is headed to the planet Ornara (where Picard made first contact 17 years prior) to, you know, see how they're doing. If it goes well, it could become an initiative for all California class ships. And the admiralty is so stoked about it that they're sending an FNN news anchor to cover this maiden voyage of the program. Freeman is free-ked out about a reporter seeing how bonker the Cerritos can be. It sends her into a tizzy. At the same time, Mariner is getting the cold shoulder because she seems like the source of much of the "shenanigans". Things come to a head, but it's penultimate episode of the season, so we're sure everything is gonna work out fine...

Anthony and Laurie cover the recent reveal of the “Star Trek 4” storyline that would’ve brought Chris Hemsworth back into Star Trek movies (but it didn’t happen), with more details from the screenwriters. They talk about the Next Generation cast’s interest in Picard spin-offs, Anson Mount’s latest description of the upcoming wildness on Strange New Worlds season 2, and the Prodigy producers’ thoughts on character growth, legacy characters, and toys from TrekMovie’s interview with them at New York Comic Con. They cover the latest in games (Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova is out while Resurgence is delayed), celebrate Outfest’s Visionary Award for the Star Trek franchise, and go over the latest in international launches for Paramount Plus. Then it’s time for their review of Lower Decks‘ “Trusted Sources,” which is something of a mixed bag. (Lower Decks review starts at 20:19) They wrap things up with a canon-affirming tweet from Jack Quaid with George Takei, and a cute-affirming Instagram post from Anson Mount with his irresistible baby.

This shouldn't be controversial at all.
On today's show, Mark Simon is joined for an interview by Don Colacino. Don is a filmmaker who has just started production on a documentary, Trusted Sources, that is about the decline of trust in news and those working to restore it.Don talked about the work that he's doing (including a considerable amount of research and reporting), outlined what the film will look like, and talked about some of the heroes of journalism who are working to promote trust in the news media. He also explained lessons he learned from his documentary short, Winner Take All, which explains the movement for a national popular vote, and shared his favorite journalism documentaries. To learn more about the movie, visit trustdocfilm.com and colacinoproductions.com.

Today we welcomed Shitcoin Sherpa back to the campfire for some good, old fashioned off-the-rails conversation. Sherpa was the 5th guest ever to join us for a campfire when he told us all his dirt little secrets in Episode 6! How could we not bring him back on for #106!? In this episode we talked about trusted sources and verifying information, the power of global collaboration and COVID-19 as a catalyst, and why you should always be prepared. But, we quickly find ourselves down the old-school-tech rabbit hole, talking rabbit ears, coat hanger engineering, tin foil, 56k modems, and even....Matlock??? Yea, we don't know why either. Hope you enjoy!
