Hey everybody, welcome to a special edition of the show! Typically we focus on two issues of this title at a time, but in this oversized episode, you'll get 5 issues of comics to feast on! That's right, we're covering the entire crossover in one show (JLU 207-209, and All-Star Squadron 14-15)! We have a blast talking about this one, and were blown away by the creative team of Roy Thomas, Gerry Conway, Adrian Gonzales, Jerry Ordway, Don Heck, Joe Kubert, and George Perez! The JLA, JSA, and All-Star Squadron have their hands full with the Crime Syndicate and Per Degaton! A huge thank you to all of you that have submitted feedback either on Twitter or through email. Rest assured, we will get to it all, but this episode was so long, we're going to take care of it on our next show. Speaking of feedback, you can email the show Aworldonfirepodcast@gmail.com or reach out to the show on Twitter @AllSquadron or me @Billyd_licious or Herman @darklongbox to let us know your thoughts (if you already haven't)! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/stephen-strange02/message

We're ending our discussion about legacy characters by talking about "JSA: Black Vengeance" by Geoff Johns. In this book, the young members of the JSA travel back in time to inspire the team's original heroes after being disbanded by HUAC. We bring in our discussion of Starman with Courtney Whitmore while also talking about the overall theme of legacy that's all over this trade paperback. But more than that, how is Per Degaton this goofy while also being this evil? What's up with Atom Smasher? How disrupted and rushed is the story with the Infinite Crisis tie-in? Leviathan CGI was interesting, not great, not crappy Compressed light blasts - aww yeah Bad-ass punch to the head Kendra v Savage Really liked the mace effect Kendra laid into Savage and Carter with a bad ass spiked mace - no blood Legends and Cassandra Savage v. Shock Troops Casandra with the throwing knife in the back … But why did they stand around when they had Savage at the start Time Travel: Share your thoughts He knows where his family is even though they were at Whitechapel - can't get his family to safety. OK, so no matter what he does Savage's forces keep killing his family - time wants his family to die, yet he's still trying to change it. Rip Hunter Running into the final battle at the rally with no real plan - yet another example of not great captaining A bit of a dick not wanting the refugees on board Gideon He basically gives up when the Waverider is damaged. Vandal Savage Great speech at the start Vandal Savage's Daughter - Cassandra Savage Decent training montage with a katana She didn't know that the Armageddon virus was unleashed by Savage, and that Savage created Per Degaton… and there came the inevitable reveal Joins the rebels at the end. The Atom - Ray Palmer “It worked, I'm not dead… yet” Giant Sized ATOM Looks crushed when Kendra says “we need to talk” White Canary - Sara Lance Aside from decent staff fighting, not a lot Kinda weird that she brought up the whole soulmate thing with Kendra, but she's her friend, so I guess it was in character Hawkgirl - Kendra Saunders Golden mace is pretty cannon - Nth metal Hawkman - Carter Hall Spike mace training scene, he wasn't actually a bit of a douche Captain Cold - Leonard Snart Solid throughout the episode, esp. In his interactions with Cassandra Backstory with his dad who was a monster is a lot of callback to the Flash Episode with Golden Glider as well. Heatwave - Mick Rory “It works with my outfit” It's great when Mic is actually into the role - his looks while interrogating the daughter was kinda awesome. Firestorm - Professor Martin Stein Cared about the refugees, but didn't have a lot to do - was injured for the climactic fight. Firestorm - Jefferson Jackson Ray's cheering section - not a lot of direct action since Stein was out of commission. Waverider/Gideon EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS:  Season 1 Episode 13 “Leviathan” (Date: 29 Apr 2016) Article:http://comicbook.com/dc/2016/04/29/dcs-legends-of-tomorrow---x-things-you-might-have-missed-in-levi/   Leviathan: There have been two Leviathans in DC Comics.  The first Leviathan was Gim Allor, a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes.  The most recent Leviathan wasn't a person at all, but an offshoot of the League of Assassins.  Talia al Ghul created Leviathan to oppose Batman Inc. Growing Atom: Savage's Leviathan is clearly a giant version of Ray's ATOM suit The Rebel Leader: Sharon Taylor, who played the unnamed Rebel Leader on tonight's episode, was in Smallville, she played Zod's lieutenant Faora Cassandra Savage: Cassandra Savage is actually based on a different DC character...  Kassandra Sage is one of Vandal Savage's daughters in the New 52.  After the police arrested Savage for a string of sacrificial murders, Kass grew up to become a profiler for the FBI, specializing in serial killers.  After not speaking to Savage for years, Kass used her father to help solve a string of copycat murders committed by the son of the man who arrested Savage.  Of course, most fans were hoping that Cassandra would wind up being Scandal Savage, a member of the Secret Six, a group of anti-hero mercenaries. Extra - thumping class of scotch looked like Jurassic Park. Extra - did anyone think of Capt. America Civil war when ATOM grew - like Ant-man growing into Giant-man   ARROW NEWS:   Wendy Mericle talks Prometheus, no magic, and Flashpoint (Date: 24 Aug 2016) * “for Season 5 … we did want to go back to our roots and figure out what is specific to this show. Per Degaton: Per Degaton is a longtime DC Comics supervillain, who has battled against the Justice Society, Infinity Inc. and the Time Masters in the comics.  His most notable appearances  were as a member of an organization called the Time Stealers, who opposed Booster Gold and Rip Hunter and tried to take over Vanishing Point. Armageddon Virus: No Armageddon virus" in DC lore but there's Moritcoccus, a mutated offshoot of the OMAC virus sent back from the future. It's the deadliest virus known to human history.  There's also Armageddon 2001, a crossover event from the '90s... “Would you kill Hitler” trope: You get the old "would you kill Hitler?" trope a lot in this episode...almost literally, since Per Degaton is a Nazi in the comics. Coast City reference: Hawkman makes a Coast City reference in Flashback.  Coast City, of course, is the home to Green Lantern in the comics. It's been frequently referenced in all of the CW/DC shows. Star Labs: Wells's company eventually recovers from the damage to its reputation and bottom line done by the particle accelerator explosion. White Dwarf Star Reference: White Dwarf Star material is what Ray Palmer uses in the comics (and on TV) to power his size-changing belt.. Hannibal Lecter reference: When asked to give a name, Ray identifies himself as Dr. Hannibal Lecter.. Young Aldus Boardman: In Kendra's flashback timeline, we get to see the young Aldus Boardman, the son of Hawkgirl and Hawkman, who lived his childhood on the run from Vandal Savage until Savage found and killed Boardman's parents. The team travels to 2147 to find Savage. They discover he is personally grooming a young child, Per Degaton, who will grow up to unleash a virus that decimates most of the planet and allow Savage to rule the world. After debating on whether to kill Per Degaton before he commits this act, the team decides to remove him from the timeline and prevent Savage's rise to power. The kidnapping does not affect the timeline, so Rip releases Per Degaton and implores him not to let Savage influence his decisions. Unfortunately, the team's intervention with Per Degaton only accelerates the timeline, causing the event to take place sooner. Meanwhile, Ray finds his suit's technology has been used to create autonomous policing robots that Savage will use to help conquer the world, and that his family line founded the company that created them. After settling his differences with Snart for the moment, Mick reveals that the Time Masters have released a group called the "Hunters", whose sole purpose will be to track down the team and kill each of them, including Mick for failing to apprehend Rip and the others.

Left with no other choice, our team journeys to the year 2166 to confront Vandal Savage at the height of his power. After their first kidnap attempt fails, one of Savage's "lieutenants"identifies our team of time travelers in the crowd. Kendra notices the lieutenant is wearing her bracelet from her first life and notifies the team it can be used to kill Savage. Rip sends Snart and Rory to recover the bracelet and they return with the lieutenant. During Snart's creative interrogation, we learn the lieutenant is really Cassie Savage which explains why Savage has entrusted her with the bracelet. We learn her mother was killed by the Armageddon virus Savage released, although Cassie thinks Per Degaton is responsible for the deaths of millions. Meanwhile, Ray and Dr. Stein are trying to figure out wha tSavage's super weapon is while Rory and Kendra work on a super weapon of their own. Ray and Dr. Stein come to the conclusion tha tthe super weapon is a giant weapon and Ray works out a plan to stop it from killing the remaining refugees and our team. In the closing scenes, we witness the fight between Ray and agiant self-aware version of his own ATOM suit. Cut to the team confronting Savage, with Cassie on their side, and Kendra swoops into "save the day." Unfortunately, just as Kendra is about to put an end to Savage, a brainwashed Carter stops her from killing him. The team has to settle with kidnapping Savage instead of Kendra killing him in order to preserve Carter's memories. The team heads to 2147, with Rory imprisoned on the Waverider, to stop Vandal Savage. Rip informs the team that a tyrant named Per Degaton rises to power under Vandal's guidance, and ultimately releases a virus which decimates the world population, leaving it ripe for Vandal Savage to take over power. We learn Per Degaton is a teenage boy and the team wrestles with the idea of killing a child. In the end, they decide to kidnap Per Degaton and remove him from the timelines. In theory this would remove the avenue through which Vandal Savage would rise to power. While in pursuit of Per Degaton, we are introduced to the world of 2147 in the Kasnia Conglomerate where Ray's atom suits have morphed into robots that police the citizens of Kasnia. Team Kidnapping pursues Per Degaton while Team Robot investigates the technology behind the Ultron-like robots. After a successful kidnapping and a disturbing revelation about Ray's past, the team checks the timeline to see the effect of kidnapping Per Degaton. We learn Kendra is having flashbacks to the 1920's where her and Carter had their son, Aldous. Sara has a chat with Rory and Rip decides to take matters into his own hands. He disappears with Per Degaton, presumably to kill the boy in order to save his wife and son.  While Rip is away, Per's father, Tor Degaton, reviews video surveillance to find his son. Savage reveals that he knows the people who took his son and reassures him that he will remain unharmed. Savage leads the team to the Waverider through his connection to Kendra and a battle ensues until Rip trades Per Degaton for Sara.  As the team regroups on-board the Waverider, Snart and Rory decide to duke it out (literally) and we learn Rory apparently does have some humanity left after all. After refusing to kill Snart, he reveals to the team the Hunters are after them after his failure as Chronos to bring the team to the Vanishing Point.  In closing, we see the impact of the team's actions on the future. Per Degaton kills his father and names Vandal Savage his proxy at the head of the board. With Savage in charge, the virus is released 5 years earlier then in the previous timeline.

This time out, Scott and Mike take a break from the day to day business here at "Tales" to begin their look at a mini-series that came out at the end of 1984 and told the COMPLETE HISTORY of the Justice Society of America!! Now, as a straight up history it might be a little dry, so writer Roy Thomas hung the idea around a plot that sees Batman accuse the JSA of treason from beyond the grave! The guys tackle the first two issues this episode and we see the accusation, the JSA in chains, and the trial begin! There are surprise witnesses, surprise villains, and, of course, a shadowy figure behind it all! Next time: The Excitiing Conclusion as the history lesson wraps up and the Ultimate Villain makes himself known! GOOD NEWS!! "America vs The Justice Society" is soon to be reprinted and you can pre-order it here -- America vs The Justice Society Trade PaperbackFeedback for this show can be sent to: talesofthejsa@gmail.comTwo True Freaks! is a proud member of BOTH the Comics Podcast Network (http://www.comicspodcasts.com/) and the League of Comic Book Podcasts (http://www.comicbooknoise.com/league/)!! CRISIS ON EARTH-PRIME COMES TO AN END THIS WEEK WITH A CONCLUSION THAT WILL... FRUSTRATE THE CRAP OUT OF YOU! Hey, everybody! Scott and Mike are back after a looong absence! Well, recording wise it was a long absence. There was a good two months between the time episodes 47 and 48 were recorded! The guys spend some time talking about this fact, even though this is the fifth new episode in a row. Yet another new record. Yay, mediocrity! Anyway, Crisis on Earth-Prime is wrapped up in Justice League of America #209, which should be sixteen different kinds of awesome, but that awesome-ness is mitigated by the fatal flaw of ALL Per Degaton stories. There is some fun commentary though, including why Professor Zee is the ultimate bad guy in all of this for being such a jackass to Per Degaton in the first place. After that Mike and Scott read a few more e-mails, which leads into a rather long conversations about which characters are the pillars of the DC Universe. Mike even sounds like he knows what the hell he is talking about. For once. Next time: Episode 49 where Mike and Scott talk about the very first All-Star Squadron Annual!Feedback for this show can be sent to: talesofthejsa@gmail.comTwo True Freaks! is a proud member of BOTH the Comics Podcast Network (http://www.comicspodcasts.com/) and the League of Comic Book Podcasts (http://www.comicbooknoise.com/league/)!! CRISIS ON EARTH-PRIME CONTINUES! Yes, indeed! Scott and Mike are back again and this time they brought All-Star Squadron #15, the penultimate chapter of this kick-ass storyline, with them! After a brief conversation about He-Man, the master of the synopsis himself, Scott Gardner, gives you the skinny on the events of the issue and, in all honesty, it was kind of a mixed bag this time out. First, there is the unbalanced nature of the teams when the heroes split up. Then, there is the bizarre looking Per Degaton on the last page! Scott has some issues with the use of physics in this issue as well. There were some things to like, though, such as Superman taking charge and assuming a leadership role -- halfway through the issue... After all of that, the guys look at the ads (leading to a confession on the part of Mike about Camelot 3000), what else was going on in the DC Multiverse, and a handful of YOUR e-mails! This show is still the MOST FUN YOU WILL EVER HAVE listening to a podcast -- or your money back!!Feedback for this show can be sent to: talesofthejsa@gmail.comTwo True Freaks! is a proud member of BOTH the Comics Podcast Network (http://www.comicspodcasts.com/) and the League of Comic Book Podcasts (http://www.comicbooknoise.com/league/)!! Welcome to Episode 46 of Tales of the Justice Society of America! This week, Scott and Mike aren't screwing around, Dear Listeners! There is no introductory discussion this week as the guys just jump right into the third chapter in the EPIC Crisis on Earth-Prime storyline. Chapter Three takes place in Justice League of America #208, which boasts a fantastic George Perez cover featuring all of the main players completely mesmerized by the awesome 'fro that the mushroom cloud-headed Per Degaton is sporting. He is sure to be a hit with the ladies, assuming they don’t die of radiation poisoning first. This exciting chapter of the story tells the full story of why Earth-Prime is a desolate, holocaust-torn landscape in 1982 full of mutants and Aussie ex-cops trying to get a tanker truck full of gas to those that need it despite the bikers that want to stop them is revealed. Or... something like that. You'll love the funny bit involving a VCR! (If you don’t know what a VCR is, Scott and Mike suddenly feel REALLY old) There is also a lot of fun discussion -- including a quick history lesson on how DC completely screwed over the history of Hawkman; a brief discussion on the movie Fat Man and Little Boy (which leads to a discussion on Star Trek: The Next Generation because for minute Mike and Scott thought this was Star Trek Monthly Monday or something); a reminder on why Per Degaton stories bother Scott and Mike; Mike’s terrible John Travolta impersonation; Don Heck’s artwork; why Firestorm is kind of like Geordi La Forge (because - again - the guys think this is Star Trek Monthly Monday); why Kennedy probably wouldn’t have nuked Earth-Prime; and so much more!! The guys also read a handful of YOUR e-mails! WOW!! Welcome back to the TALES OF THE JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA! This week, Scott and Mike continue their trip in the way back machine as they take a look at issues 2 and 3 of the ALL-STAR SQUADRON!! And, boy oh boy, were these two FANTASTIC and FREAKISHLY AWESOME issues!! This episode concludes the first story arc for the All-Stars and, in true adventure series fashion, the action begins on one side of the country and ends on the other! The All-Stars, newly formed by FDR himself, are off on their first official mission, but not before taking a moment to beat the living bejeezus out of a group of thugs who picked entirely the wrong freakin' day in American history to try to pull off a job!! The All-Stars are soon bound for Frisco and we learn the origins of all of the heroes in attendance. As if THAT wasn't enough, we learn the hows and whyfors of Per Degaton's plans, too! Why is he attacking San Francisco? How did all of the villains appear out of their own times? Just who in the hell prints out the lettering for the self-destruct buttons? All of these questions and more are discussed!! (Notice we said "discussed", not "answered.) But that's not all! There are ads!! Sad and pathetic little ads to be sure, but two of them ARE Hostess related and that can only mean one thing, gentle listener -- COMEDY GOLD! In these ads, you get Batman fighting a horrible film director and Red Tornado battles the fact that Mike and Scott are mentally fourteen years old. Plus, it's the return of Elsewhere in the DC Multiverse where Scott and Mike catch up on FOUR MONTHS worth of the other titles that were released alongside All-Star Squadron issues 1 through 3 -- and go on a series of tangents so wild you'll wonder if they forgot what the show was about... Next week: All-Star Squadron #4 ...where All-Star BATTLES All-Star!! Be There!! Or I'm telling your mom!! NOTE -- The Two True Freaks! now have a phone line where you can call and leave a completely inappropriate message - We just might use it on the show! It's 585-COP-LURE!!
