However, the show was marred by the inappropriate behavior of its showrunner, Mark Schwahn. His harassment and mistreatment of the cast and crew were brought to light by writer Audrey Wauchope in a series of tweets in 2017, during the height of the “Me Too” movement. This followed the investigation of another CW showrunner, Andrew Kreisberg, who was accused of sexual harassment and creating an unsafe work environment on The Flash. Kreisberg was paid $10 million to leave. Today, we are discussing the impact of a toxic boss on a workplace, and the bravery of the women who spoke out against this behavior. Writer-producer Marc Guggenheim approaches his work from a place of trying to please the ten-year-old version of himself who loved sci fi and superheroes. So he was the perfect guy for Warner Bros. and DC Comics to tap to not just play in, but help build its cinematic sandbox. A script for The Practice was his first produced work. He eventually served as a producer for Law & Order, Jack and Bobby, CSI: Miami, and In Justice. With Greg Berlanti, Guggenheim is the co-creator of the ABC show Eli Stone. He later became executive producer of ABC's No Ordinary Family. Guggenheim, together with Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, adapted the Green Arrow comics into the television series Arrow. The three, alongside Phil Klemmer, went on to develop the spin-off series Legends of Tomorrow. With Guillermo del Toro, he co-wrote the pilot and several episodes of the award-winning animated series Tales of Arcadia, an original franchise created for Netflix from DreamWorks Animation, for which he won an Emmy in the category of "Best Writing for an Animated Series" and nominated for several others. This month Aaron and Josh Sarnecky are talking about Arrow for its 10th anniversary. Joining them as special guest is Alex Marcus, Podcast Editor for The Pop Break. Developed by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg, Arrow is a superhero show based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow. The series premiered on The CW on October 10, 2012 and ran for eight seasons, finishing at 170 episodes. The series finale aired on January 28, 2020. Arrow tells the story of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), a wealthy playboy rescued from an island in the North China Sea. Queen returns to Starling City with the mission of ridding it of crime and corruption. Oliver carries out his crusade as the masked vigilante Green Arrow. The original Team Arrow consists of Oliver, his bodyguard John Diggle (David Ramsey), and tech wiz Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards). Arrow started strong, though fans and critics agree it peaked in Season 2. The show's reception became more mixed in the following seasons. Arrow was integral to The CW's lineup, spawning an entire universe of DC Comics shows. Aaron, Josh, and Alex look at the show's pilot and discuss how the series reinvented itself over the years. Asked about Diggle's greatest challenge going into Season 6, Ramsey replied, “We have to break Diggle. I think Season 6 we'll see Diggle get broken in a way he hasn't been broken before. It already starts in [the first episode], and I think there's a certain amount of it that will continue throughout the season. I think it's an arc for Diggle that we haven't seen, even beyond his brother coming back to life and killing his evil brother and that leading to the death of the Canary.” Diggle's brokenness will — in part — come from the trauma of his island experience will “greatly affect the whole team.” Diggle is typically an open book — keeping both Team Arrow and Lyla informed about what's going on in his life. That day reps a one time move to Monday for the special occasion. The crossover concludes Nov. 28 with The Flash in DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Earlier in the episode, as Oliver, Slade, and Talia were exploring Lian Yu, the camera panned across the forest floor to reveal a set of skeletal remains wearing a black leather jacket. The body was that of Konstantin Kovar, who wouldn't die at Oliver's hand for about another 20 minutes in the episode. Link:http://www.cbr.com/the-cw-reveals-season-finale-synopses-for-flash-arrow-supergirl/   Arrow EP Explains Why Prometheus Keeps Getting So Personal (Date: 10 May 2017) During an interview last week, Arrow showrunner Wendy Mericle explained why they felt it was time for a villain who challenged Oliver on a personal, human level for the first time since Deathstroke in season 2. “It's very personal this year, and we wanted to do that for a number of reasons,” Mericle said. “WE've done a different villain this year. It's not that it's easy, but using violence — which Chase and Oliver still do throughout the season — is sort of the go-to. What's been interesting to see this year is to see that but the underpinnings of it being so psychological and so manipulative and so built on the underpinnings of what Chase knows about Oliver and who he is. This was the perfect storm — a great way to change up the villain and to get inside of Oliver's head in a season that we needed to. It Sounds Like It (Date: 24 April 2017) During an interview with ComicBook.com earlier today, Arrow executive producer Wendy Mericle referred to the upcoming season finale as a cliffhanger, and indicated that fans might not know who lives and who dies until season six. "We're going to have a big bang of an ending, and we're not going to know really the outcome until the end of season 6," Mericle told ComicBook.com. "We don't often do cliffhangers in the way that we're doing this season, and we're excited about this ending." Mericle said of the flashbacks that have served as a kind of backup story in the show's first five seasons, “Moving forward into season 6, we're not calling it a reboot, because really the show is called Arrow and it's still about Oliver and his team, and that's not changing, but we don't have the flashbacks. What that's going to allow us to do is keep that device when we want it, but we don't have to keep pushing the five year storyline down the road. It gives us a lot more real estate to play around with, a lot more space to hopefully bring in some cool villains and to tell new character stories, and we have a lot of new characters on the show whose backstories we haven't really had the chance to experience."
