De temps en temps, c'est réconfortant de retrouver ses vieilles habitudes, à savoir les séries procédurales avec un épisode, une affaire bouclée. Un peu à l'ancienne, mais pas que. So Help Me Todd On retrouve Marcia Gay Harden et Skylar Astin en mère et fils dans So Help Me Todd. Our Guest today is Wendy Crewson Wendy Crewson was the recipient of a star on Canada's Walk of Fame in 2015; and the Earle Grey Award, given to fewer than 32 collective recipients since 1986, in recognition by the ACCT and the Canadian Entertainment Industry, for Lifetime Achievement in Television. One of Canada's premier actresses, Wendy Crewson has garnered critical and popular acclaim, as well as multiple awards, for her extensive body of work in film and television. Her resume features more than 100 titles, including credits like: Sarah Polley's indie feature AWAY FROM HER; THE VOW, with Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum; the Winnie Mandela biopic WINNIE, alongside Jennifer Hudson and Terrance Howard; THE SANTA CLAUSE trilogy opposite Tim Allen; THE CLEARING, with Robert Redford; Eduardo Ponti's BETWEEN STRANGERS, with Sophia Loren; THE LAST BRICKMAKER IN AMERICA, with Sidney Poitier; BICENTENNIAL MAN with Robin Williams; THE SIXTH DAY with Arnold Schwarzenegger; and of course, her role as Harrison Ford's First Lady in AIR FORCE ONE. Throughout her illustrious career, Wendy has amassed more nominations and awards in Canada than any other actress for portraying real women. These are some of her most wellregarded roles and they include: Sue Rodriguez (who went all the way to The Supreme Court of Canada to fight Doctor Assisted suicide while fighting ALS); “Jane Doe” (who made legal history when she sued the police for negligence after being the fifth victim of a serial rapist and realizing that the police knew details and had done nothing to prevent further rapes); Lorraine Evenshen (who tells the story from her own perspective as the wife of popular CFL star Terry Evanshen, who lost his memory after waking up from a coma caused by a car crash); and finally, Louise Arbour (who as the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for both the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and Rwanda, made history with the first indictment of a sitting head of state, for war crimes, the first conviction for genocide and the first to recognize sexual crimes as crimes against humanity). Wendy starred in five seasons of CTV's hit medical drama SAVING HOPE, for which she won Best Actress in a Featured Supporting Role at the 2013 CSAs. Wendy was also in the critically acclaimed, Oscar-nominated film, ROOM with Brie Larson; and appeared opposite Ellen Page in Patricia Rozema's INTO THE FOREST. Wendy was recently seen in the films KODACHROME, with Ed Harris and Jason Sudeikis; DEATH WISH with Bruce Willis.; and director Mimi Leder's timely feature, ON THE BASIS OF SEX. On the small screen, Wendy recently starred on CBS's hit medical drama, GOOD SAM; CBC's popular series FRANKIE DRAKE; in addition to the Hallmark series, WHEN HOPE CALLS; while also shooting the second season of DEPARTURE for Peacock/Global; and her recurring role on TITANS for HBO Max. Before that, she starred in the CTV/ION series THE DETAIL, for which she was nominated for a 2019 CSA. She also recurred in the AMC series THE SON, opposite Pierce Brosnan; and in THE OCTOBER FACTION for Netflix. Wendy continues to be as busy as ever. She joined the cast of CBC's hit procedural, PRETTY HARD CASES for its final season, while also shooting in the highly anticipated series GRAY, opposite Patricia Clarkson. Next, she appears in the independent films BACKSPOT, from director D.W. Waterson; and SAM opposite Elliot Page. We dived right in and started our conversation with the all-consuming fear of ‘coming out' --and we ended – appropriately, with her sense of belonging in a community and industry that she is so passionate about.

Introducing Liese Sherwood-Fabre Jenny Wheeler: Hello there Liese, and welcome to the show. It's great to have you with us. Liese Sherwood-Fabre: Sherlock Holmes mysteries Liese Sherwood: Thank you so much. I'm so honored to be on your podcast. I don't know what time people will be watching this, but for me it's late afternoon and for you it's early morning, so I'm very pleased that we were able to get together. Jenny Wheeler: That's right, and we're on almost opposite sides of the globe. You're in Virginia, are you? Liese Sherwood: No, I'm in Dallas, Texas. Jenny Wheeler: I'm in Auckland, New Zealand, so it's the miracle of modern technology. Liese Sherwood-Fabre: Isn't it? I do hope someday to make it there. I understand it's an incredible place to visit. Jenny Wheeler: People say so. We love it. Liese, you've delved into Sherlock Holmes' world in a great deal of detail with three highly praised non-fiction books about his life and times and now four mysteries about Sherlock when he's a young man, before he gets into his stride as a detective, before fame struck. Where did this fascination with Victorian life and Sherlock Holmes begin? Liese Sherwood-Fabre: That's a good question. People ask me and the first thing I would say is that I recall Sherlock Holmes and knowing about Sherlock Holmes since I was little. When I was growing up there was a show on in the afternoons after school that was called Dialing for Dollars. They would show old movies. They would also make random phone calls to people, and if you could give the count and the amount – they never asked me, although I always knew it – you could win money. Hooked on Sherlock watching old movies I would watch the show and they had on a lot of the old Basil Rathbone movies.

Erica Durance (Smallville, Saving Hope) returns this week to reminisce about the good and bad of her experience on Smallville while reflecting on how her upbringing of idolizing perfection led to prolonged stress and anxiety throughout her career. Erica goes on to open up about how she has a need to stay busy in order to keep calm and how she's learning that ‘if it doesn't get done, that's okay.' We also talk about our experience on set with fellow cast mates, our happy place, and the false narratives we sometimes create in our own heads. Learn more about your ad choices. Aaron and Josh Sarnecky are here for the June installment of their TV podcast. This time the brothers are talking about the Smallville series finale, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. Coincidently, the series premiere will celebrate its 20th anniversary later this year. Smallville is a retelling of Superman's origin, focusing on Clark Kent's high school years and early adulthood, largely set in the hero's hometown of Smallville, Kansas. The series premiered October 16, 2001 on The WB. During the show's 217-episode run, The WB merged with UPN to create The CW, where Smallville continued until its tenth season. The two-part series finale aired on May 13, 2011. In the series Clark (Tom Welling, Lucifer) faces many challenges, such as fighting supervillains and balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his desire for a normal life. One of his adversaries is Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum, Justice League Unlimited), with whom he forges a friendship before a falling out. Clark's allies include his adoptive parents, Jonathan (John Schneider, The Dukes of Hazzard) and Martha (Annette O'Toole, Superman III), his high school friend Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack, Wilfred), and Oliver Queen AKA Green Arrow (Justin Hartley, This Is Us). Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li) and Lois Lane (Erica Durance, Saving Hope) serve as Clark's love interests, as they do in the comics. Aaron and Josh go into when they first saw Smallville and their feelings on the show as a whole before breaking down each element of the series finale. The brothers also discuss the series' legacy and its crossover with The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths. For Josh and Aaron's opinions on another take on Superman, you can listen to their podcast on Superman II. Smallville is streaming on Hulu. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Well we are not so random this week as we break with the formula to bring you the second Saving Hope episode in a row. Why did Colin feel you couldn't get this show without watching the first two episodes together. How weird is Charlie's ex-wife Dawn, and why is she Colin's favourite character? Does the biting kid hit too close to home? Can Rossi and Colin explain the differences between Canadian and American medical care? Does a rewatch turn around Colin's opinion on Maggie? What is Coma Arousal Therapy, and will we ever get to see it? Before we get back to complete random choices we bring you one more week of the most unusual medical drama Canada has ever produced, so download our recap now that 4/5 Doctors agree will work as great Coma Arousal Therapy.★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
We return with a new series of Random Rewatches as Colin gets the pick this week, and goes back to 2012 to introduce Rossi to the Canadian supernatural medical drama Saving Hope. Will Rossi have a better reaction to this Canadian TV export than he did with the famous Canadian sitcom Corner Gas last year? How well does a supernatural ghost whisperer concept mix with a traditional medical drama? Can we talk about the outcome of Charlie's coma and power without spoiling the end of this season and all those to come? Are the 'B' stories of any interest compared to the main series Coma arc? How much star power did Erica Durance and Michael Shanks bring to this show? Why does Daniel Gillies and all other actors from Winnipeg leave for New Zealand and then come back? Will the twist and the potential of Charlie making contact from Hospital Purgatory be enough to bring us back to talk about this show again?★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Pryce optioned this story from investigative reporter Diana Zlomislic, who acts as story consultant. We are going for round two with actor, Tony Nappo on Cue To Cue! I loved having the opportunity to dig a little deeper and get caught up with Tony since our first conversation Click Here for first episode. Tony has been up to a lot in the past couple years with his hit column Nappoholics in Intermission Magazine, the success of Bad Blood (now streaming on Netflix), to traveling shoots in Italy and Budapest for his most recent projects. Although all of these accomplishments are wonderful, and I am sincerely happy for Tony’s success, those of you who are regular listeners know that is the thing I am least interested in. I want to know YOU! Who are you “in the work”. Let’s talk about things that will challenge one another to grow and raise the bar for ourselves in our craft and as humans sharing this earth. Tony does exactly that today by sharing his heart, what he is moving towards, his past mistakes, and he does it all with a mouth like a trucker and I loved every minute it! In this episode: Tony opens up about being an addict and how he is personally working on taking his recovery to the next level. the nature of vulnerability, ego, and acting. How traveling internationally to shoot as an actor in his recent shoots to Italy and Hungary were vastly different experiences and how you need to learn to roll with it. What advice he would give to actors just starting out. How his column, Nappoholics, in Intermission magazine came to be and how he curates his material how he deals with conflict now vs. ten years ago Tony Nappo was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario. He went on to study acting in New York at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Actor, Tony Nappo is joining me on Cue To Cue Today! I think it is safe to say that Tony is an outspoken person who is definitely not afraid to express his feelings and opinions. Tony has a column in Intermission Magazine, Nappoholics Anonymous, where he expresses such opinions and feelings. It’s pretty great. I definitely got to meet the outspoken guy who writes the column but I also felt I got to meet this other part of Tony. At one point I asked him what is a misperception that he believes people might have about him, and he answered that sometimes he thinks that people may think he is pretty accessible and easy to get to know but that they may not know him as well as they think they do. He isn’t always this outspoken, cheeky person who likes to make jokes; there is a sadness about him that he doesn’t show. Tony leaves nothing on the table in this episode and brings a level of vulnerability that only a few guests have brought to the podcast. I actually feel really honoured to have had this conversation with Tony. Only he really knows, but I feel like he does give the listener a chance to peek inside and get to know him better during this episode. Oh ya, we also talk about how he has a crush on Zac Efron. A Little about Tony: Tony Nappo was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario. He went on to study acting in New York at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He is a theatrical staple in Toronto and has worked in many high-profile Hollywood films including Born to be Blue, Four Brothers, Saw2, Land of the Dead, and Murder at 1600. He voices the lead character, Jimmy Falcone, in the hit animated series Fugget About It and has appeared in over a hundred episodes of television including Shoot The Messenger, Remedy, Flashpoint, Killjoys, Rookie Blue, Conviction, Breakout Kings, Saving Hope and Davinci's Inquest. He has been nominated for a Canadian Screen Award, an Actra Award, a Broadway World Award and most recently, A Dora Mavor Moore award. Follow Tony! Hey Firecrackers! Welcome back to the department, this week we have none other than the amazing Anusree Roy as our guest! Anusree is a Dora Mavor Moore award winning playwright and actress. Her stage work includes the plays ‘Breathlessness’, ’Sultans of the Street’,‘Brothel #9’, and ‘Little Pretty and The Exceptional’, amongst many more. Her television work includes the shows ‘Saving Hope’ and ‘Remedy’, the latter she was a story editor on for the first season. Now I’ve know Anusree for quite some time. We first met when my company, The National Theatre of the World was doing this thing called ‘The Script Tease’. We’d ask a playwright to write two pages of a script and we’d read it for the first time on stage and then improvise the rest of the play. So, Anusree said yes and her direction was for the cast to be wearing a sari and speak with an Indian accent. This was a new challenge for me and I LOVED it! Oh and as a kicker, Anusree showed up with snacks, she brought us all samosas because she is just incredible. Our chat this time around is truly incredible, Anusree talks a lot about what its taken for her to become a writer and the challenges she faces as an artist. Enjoy, Firecrackers!
Focal Text: Rom 8: 24-28 Romans 8:24–28 KJV - "[24] For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? [25] But if we hope for that we see not, [then] do we with patience wait for [it]. [26] Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. [27] And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what [is] the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God. [28] And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose." Leviathan CGI was interesting, not great, not crappy Compressed light blasts - aww yeah Bad-ass punch to the head Kendra v Savage Really liked the mace effect Kendra laid into Savage and Carter with a bad ass spiked mace - no blood Legends and Cassandra Savage v. Shock Troops Casandra with the throwing knife in the back … But why did they stand around when they had Savage at the start Time Travel: Share your thoughts He knows where his family is even though they were at Whitechapel - can't get his family to safety. OK, so no matter what he does Savage's forces keep killing his family - time wants his family to die, yet he's still trying to change it. Rip Hunter Running into the final battle at the rally with no real plan - yet another example of not great captaining A bit of a dick not wanting the refugees on board Gideon He basically gives up when the Waverider is damaged. Vandal Savage Great speech at the start Vandal Savage's Daughter - Cassandra Savage Decent training montage with a katana She didn't know that the Armageddon virus was unleashed by Savage, and that Savage created Per Degaton… and there came the inevitable reveal Joins the rebels at the end. The Atom - Ray Palmer “It worked, I'm not dead… yet” Giant Sized ATOM Looks crushed when Kendra says “we need to talk” White Canary - Sara Lance Aside from decent staff fighting, not a lot Kinda weird that she brought up the whole soulmate thing with Kendra, but she's her friend, so I guess it was in character Hawkgirl - Kendra Saunders Golden mace is pretty cannon - Nth metal Hawkman - Carter Hall Spike mace training scene, he wasn't actually a bit of a douche Captain Cold - Leonard Snart Solid throughout the episode, esp. In his interactions with Cassandra Backstory with his dad who was a monster is a lot of callback to the Flash Episode with Golden Glider as well. Heatwave - Mick Rory “It works with my outfit” It's great when Mic is actually into the role - his looks while interrogating the daughter was kinda awesome. Firestorm - Professor Martin Stein Cared about the refugees, but didn't have a lot to do - was injured for the climactic fight. Firestorm - Jefferson Jackson Ray's cheering section - not a lot of direct action since Stein was out of commission. Waverider/Gideon EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS: Season 1 Episode 13 “Leviathan” (Date: 29 Apr 2016) Article:http://comicbook.com/dc/2016/04/29/dcs-legends-of-tomorrow---x-things-you-might-have-missed-in-levi/ Leviathan: There have been two Leviathans in DC Comics. The first Leviathan was Gim Allor, a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes. The most recent Leviathan wasn't a person at all, but an offshoot of the League of Assassins. Talia al Ghul created Leviathan to oppose Batman Inc. Growing Atom: Savage's Leviathan is clearly a giant version of Ray's ATOM suit The Rebel Leader: Sharon Taylor, who played the unnamed Rebel Leader on tonight's episode, was in Smallville, she played Zod's lieutenant Faora Cassandra Savage: Cassandra Savage is actually based on a different DC character... Kassandra Sage is one of Vandal Savage's daughters in the New 52. After the police arrested Savage for a string of sacrificial murders, Kass grew up to become a profiler for the FBI, specializing in serial killers. After not speaking to Savage for years, Kass used her father to help solve a string of copycat murders committed by the son of the man who arrested Savage. Of course, most fans were hoping that Cassandra would wind up being Scandal Savage, a member of the Secret Six, a group of anti-hero mercenaries. Extra - thumping class of scotch looked like Jurassic Park. Extra - did anyone think of Capt. America Civil war when ATOM grew - like Ant-man growing into Giant-man ARROW NEWS: Wendy Mericle talks Prometheus, no magic, and Flashpoint (Date: 24 Aug 2016) * “for Season 5 … we did want to go back to our roots and figure out what is specific to this show. Kim deserves it and he's gonna kill it.” * Kim Miles, a Vancouver-based cinematographer, will be overseeing Stentz's episode as director. * Some fans are already voicing their disappointment now that they know Stentz's episode won't be handled by Kevin Smith; the two's worked wonders last season with "The Runaway Dinosaur," Link:http://comicbook.com/2016/08/22/x-men-first-class-thor-screenwriter-penning-an-episode-of-the-fl/ Flash: First look at Joey King as the villain Magenta (Date: 22 Aug 2016) * The pic gives us a very good idea of how King will look as the supervillain when she makes her debut Link:http://www.comicbookmovie.com/the_flash/tdkr-actress-joey-king-gives-us-an-idea-of-how-shell-look-as-the-a144734 Flash: Teddy Sears to return as Black Flash at some point (Date: 19 Aug 2016) * Zoom transformed into the Black Flash during the finale, which seemingly set up some sort of return for the villain down the line. * Based on comments from executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, it definitely sounds like the door is open for the villain to return at some point this year: "Obviously we did that on purpose," said Kriesberg. "We love working with Teddy. He's such an amazing actor and amazing person, and was so much a part of the success of this show last season. There aren't any immediate plans for that, but you can't keep a good Black Flash down, so I'm sure we'll be seeing him in the future." Reference to Rick Starr: Golden Age space Ranger from DC Star Wars and Star Trek References: Like Sulu or Han Solo (a) From the comments: When Kendra says "tell that to Vash" in response to Ray calling Captain Picard "sexless", she was referring to Vash, the woman Picard met (and got together with) while on vacation in the season three Next Generation episode, "Captain's Holiday". Vash (played by Jennifer Hetrick) appeared again in the TNG episode "Q-pid" and the DS9 episode "Q-Less". That was a pretty obscure reference but a nice one for big fans of TNG. (b) Gideon says “His chances of survival are less than 3,720 to 1” - Same as Star Wars when C3PO calculates the odds of survival Imperiex: Canon reference, this time to a Superman Villain Kanjar Ro: Another Canon reference to a classic Justice League Villain Rip Hunter's last name is Carter: Booster Gold's son... Parley: Kinda a reference to Pirate's of the Caribbean Time Master Coburn: Reference to Arrow writer Jake Coburn?
