In this episode, we watch an episode of the incredible, but completely forgotten, 1991 "The Flash" TV series, in which Jeffrey Combs plays Jimmy Swain, a gangster who hires the villain Captain Cold. The show has intense 1990s energy, some very entertaining "New York" accents, and a lot of "cold"-themed puns. It's a mess and we loved it!

Barry Allen and Wally West continue their groundbreaking adventures as they travel through time and battle epic villains like Captain Boomerang for the first time and a team up with the Green Lantern.Affiliate link included.Transcript:Graham: The Flash is tied to a giant boomerang, twice and Kid Flash travels back to pre-historic times, twice. We'll talk about it, straight ahead in The Flash: The Silver Age Volume 2.Announcer:Welcome to the Classy Comics podcast where we search for the best comics in the universe. From Boise Idaho, here is your host Adam Graham.Graham:As I discussed in a previous episode after many of the great superhero franchises of the Golden Age flamed out in the late 40s and early 50s, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman remain the really only consistent games in town when it came to superheroes. However, that changed when D.C. introduced Barry Allen as the Flash in Showcase number 4. The Flash was successful and with the Scarlet Speedster's success, many more superheroes would be added to the roster of the D.C. Universe. To understand what made the Flash successful, it's important to understand what the Flash didn't have. There wasn't great characterization or much characterization at all. That would be something really that Marvel would bring to superheroes with the emergence of the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man later on in the 1960s. What the Flash brought was mind-blowing imagination, when it came to the use of the Flash's super speed as well as the rogues he fought. In fact, the colorful rogues of the Flash, Captain Cold, Mirror Master, Weather Wizard and the Prankster, remain popular to this day and they were really cranked out in the early years of the Flash's comeback. The Flash: The Silver Age Volume 2, comes after the Flash's initial three trial appearances and his first thirteen issues have introduced so much but there's even more that gets introduced in this volume and we're going to discuss it. This particular volume collects issues 117 to 132. I won't try and cover everything in this book. It's a 400-page book plus, unlike say a modern comic where you have plots that take place over multiple issues, these are all self-contained or in many cases, they are two stories in a single issue so I won't try and cover everything. I will say that these are pretty lengthy issues when you take a look at them. Generally you're looking at about 23 to 25 pages, which is a good length for the early Silver Age books. They get a lot shorter during the Bronze Age. The first big milestone comes in issue 117 of the Flash, the first issue collected in this book and it introduces Captain Boomerang. The story begins when a corporate honcho has the idea that his company could make a really big trend out of selling boomerangs, as yo-yos had recently been a big deal and they need to hire someone who is experienced throwing the boomerang. And so our villain is hired and uses the name Captain Boomerang. That's part of the plan and instead of taking this cushy corporate job, it'll be like being the Marlboro Man. With plenty money coming his way, he instead turns to a life of crime using incredibly clever boomerangs in order to commit his crimes.Flash actually thinks he's spotted Captain Boomerang at the scene of a crime but Captain Boomerang convinces him that he's innocent and that it would do harm to his elderly parents, who aren't his parents but two actors playing them and gets the Flash to go away but realizes he has to get rid of the Flash and how is he going to do that? He's going to tie him to a rocket-powered boomerang. Now when I asked my wife about this, she pointed out shouldn't a boomerang return back to where it was thrown and that's a good question. However, this time the Flash to a boomerang solution is actually used by ...

Speaking to CBR and other reporters during a visit to the show's Vancouver set, Amell explained how he convinced Warner Bros. to let him use Batman's real name and what it could mean for the Arrowverse at large. “The original version of that script, which came out right before Comic-Con, it was just Oliver referencing a famous name,” he revealed. “I can't remember what the placeholder was. I think it might have been Justin Bieber. I looked at it, and I thought to myself, ‘This is a cool opportunity.' I talked with Greg Berlanti about it, and Greg said, ‘You know, I think that it would behoove you to just go directly to Geoff Johns and just simply ask. You'll probably have better luck than I would.'” https://www.cbr.com/arrow-stephen-amell-bruce-wayne-namedrop-story/ GENERAL DC NEWS Legends of Tomorrow's Heatwave Teases Dynamic with Citizen Cold (Date: 10 Nov 2017) Wentworth Miller is returning to the Arrowverse, but not as Captain Cold. Miller will play Citizen Cold, Leonard Snart's doppelganger from another world — but what does that mean for Captain Cold's longtime partner Heatwave? Speaking to CBR and other reporters, Legends of Tomorrow star Dominic Purcell teased how Heatwave will react to meeting the “new” Snart. Asked what brings the two characters together, Purcell joked, “Oh, well, the writers brought them together.” On a more serious note, he said, “What I can elaborate on is that the relationship between Heatwave and Captain Cold — or not Captain Cold… Citizen [Cold]. It's changed. The audience will really see a difference in his character, and also how Rory reacts to this new… you know, Captain Cold, if you will. So it was interesting. We're dealing with some really topical stuff.” https://www.cbr.com/legends-of-tomorrows-heatwave-citizen-cold-dynamic/ Laurie Metcalf Joins SupergirlIn Key Role (Date: 09 Nov 2017) Laurie Metcalf will join Season 3 of Supergirlas Winn Schott's (Jeremy Jordan) estranged mothers. Supergirl fans were already introduced to Winn's father, Winslow Schott Sr. (Henry Czerny), back in Season 1. Winslow proved to be quite the opposite of Winn, as he ended up revealing himself to be the Toymaker, a villain who committed atrocious acts with weapons concealed in toys. There's no telling if Metcalf's character will share the same homicidal tendencies as Winslow. Metcalf's reason for taking the role is actually pretty endearing – she wants to make sure her daughter can meet her idol, Melissa Benoist, the series' star. https://www.cbr.com/laurie-metcalf-supergirl-winns-mom/ ‘Supergirl,' ‘Arrow' Producer Suspended Amid Sexual Harassment Allegations by Warner Bros. (Date: 10 Nov 2017) Warner Bros. TV Group has launched an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior by Andrew Kreisberg, an executive producer on the CW shows “Arrow,” “Supergirl,” “The Flash” and “DC's Legends of Tomorrow,” Varietyhas learned. Kreisberg, who has been suspended by the studio, has engaged in a pattern of alleged sexual harassment and inappropriate physical contact over a period of years, according to 15 women and four men who have worked with him. None of the 19 sources for this story wanted to be named for fear of All the men and women who spoke to Variety describe similar incidents of inappropriate touching and endemic sexual harassment; they often told the same stories and corroborated each other's accounts. According to sources who either witnessed this behavior or were subjected to it, Kreisberg is accused of frequently touching people without their permission, asking for massages from uncomfortable female staff members, and kissing women without asking. Almost every source cites a constant stream of sexualized comments about women's appearances, their clothes, and their perceived desirability. According to many interviewed by Variety, Kreisberg's problematic behavior, particularly around women, got worse once he had a great deal of authority as an executive producer on several shows. http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/warner-bros-sexual-harassment-andrew-kreisberg-1202612522/ ARROW CAST AND CREW INTERVIEWS Arrow's Juliana Harkavy Reacts to That Major Vigilante Twist (Date: 10 Nov 2017) Arrowhas finally unmasked In “Deathstroke Returns,” the latest episode of Arrow, Dinah Drake's Black Canary discovered — to her horror — that her ex-partner/lover Victor Sobel had been the Vigilante all along. Speaking to CBR and other outlets, Black Canary actor Juliana Harkavy discussed the twist, what it means for her character, the impact it could have on the team moving forward and more. “Well, it's definitely been a little bit of a glitch in her path, because now — in a sense — not only is she dealing with her past but she also has her own little secret that she has to decide whether she's going to keep from the team, so it definitely throws a wrench in her life and game plan,” she explained. https://www.cbr.c NEXT EPISODE Link to Promo: (Date: 10 Nov 2017) LINK https://www.cbr.com/arrow-trailer-promises-kept-deathstroke/ Episode: “Promises Kept” [Season 6 Episode 6] Air Date: Thursday, November 16, 2017 Summary: As Slade continues to uncover clues about his son's last few years, Oliver makes a big decision. Emmy-Winner Michael Emerson Boards Arrow for S6 (Date: 22 July 2017) a. Emmy Award-winner Michael Emerson has joined the cast of Arrow for the series' sixth season, as revealed at a panel for the DC Comics-based series at Comic-Con International in San Diego. The Lost alum will board the series in a recurring capacity; he will play a member of a villainous cabal. Additionally, it was confirmed David Nykl (who plays Oliver Queen's friend/mentor/nemesis, Anatoly Knyazev) will return to the series. b. http://www.cbr.com/michael-emerson-cast-arrow-season-6/ 2. Arrow Showrunner Addresses Olicity In Season 6 (Date: 24 July 2017) a. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim said during an interview at Comic Con International with Comicbook, “I'm going to give a very unsatisfying answer to the Olicity fans, which is that we sort of set Oliver and Felicity on a certain trajectory starting with 520, and you saw a little bit of it in 523. We're continuing it. I will say that the events of the finale did throw a little bit of a wrench into their slow rekindling of their relationship.” b. http://comicbook.com/2017/07/24/arrow-olicity-season-6/ 3. Spoiler Room: Scoop on Game of Thrones, Arrow, Westworld, and more (Date: 20 July 2017) a. Do you have any scoop on the new villain (or villains) on Arrow next season? — Here's a little teaser: “As usual, every season we want to try to up the stakes and do something different,” EP Wendy Mericle tells me. “This will be something we've never seen before. The villain will be hopefully as dynamic and as interesting as the ones we've had in the past. These people, or this person, won't just be somebody that's a thorn in Oliver's side, but it'll effect the whole team personally and very directly.” Could Cayden James and Helix be the culprits she speaks of? “You never know,” Mericle says. “They are still in the wind. We don't like to leave those threads dangling.” b. http://ew.com/tv/2017/07/20/spoiler-room-game-thrones-arrow-westworld/ 4. One Fan-Favorite Arrow Character Will Receive Flashbacks In Season 6 (Date: 26 July 2017) a. Marc Guggenheim has revealed that a fan-favorite character will receive flashbacks for the very first time in Season 6. In an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, Guggenheim had this to say about Season 6, “You're gonna still see flashbacks. It won't be every episode and it won't be serialized. They'll be character specific and I'll give you one example... as you saw in the trailer Manu Bennett is back for the season premiere and he's also coming back for a special two-part episode in the first half of the season where we're really going to be focusing hard on his character, post everything he's experienced on the show and we intend to do a Slade Wilson flashback story.” b. http://www.cinemablend.com/television/1685200/one-fan-favorite-arrow-character-will-receive-flashbacks-in-season-6 5. ARROW Season 6 SDCC '17 Trailer Finds Oliver Queen In A Brand New Role (Date: 22 July 2017) a. Arrow Showrunner Says Richard Dragon Will Be Grounded Crime Lord (Date: 25 July 2017) a. Richard Dragon, one of the last major Green Arrow villains yet to appear on Arrow, is coming in season six -- and he will be different from the series' other big bads, according to series executive producer Marc Guggenheim. "You know, what I really like about our interpretation of Richard is, he's very grounded," Guggenheim said. "He's not a flamboyant big bad, he doesn't wear a costume, he really is a crimelord sort of in the Tobias Church model. For Tobias we only really saw him for about five episodes, so we were excited about th prospect of doing a cool, gritty crime lord, but for a longer period of time. We've never really done that on the show before, so it's different." b. http://comicbook.com/2017/07/25/arrow-showrunner-says-richard-dragon-will-be-grounded-crime-lord/ GENERAL DC TV NEWS 1. Legends of Tomorrow: Sara's Season 3 Love Interest is a New Character (Date: 25 July 2017) a. Love is in the air for Waverider captain Sara Lance. When the character returns in Legends of Tomorrow Season 3, she will find herself embroiled in a new romance. On Twitter, executive producer Marc Guggenheim revealed that this romance will be with a new character. Guggenheim and fellow executive producer Phil Klemmer revealed that Sara will get a new love interest at Comic-Con International's Legends of Tomorrow panel. “It's definitely time for Sara to settle down, or at least have a relationship that's more than a roll in the hay. It's hard when you're travelling through time,” Klemmer announced. “It's definitely been a priority of ours to re-establish Sara's bisexuality in Season 3,” Guggenheim added. “It's a big, important thing for us this year.” b. http://www.cbr.com/legends-of-tomorrow-sara-love-interest-new-character/ 2. The Flash: Tom Felton not returning as series regular (Date 25 July 2017) a. At the close of season 3, Julian was still a member of Team Flash, but with Barry now trapped in the Speed Force, and the show jumping ahead at least six months, it appears that Julian has left the team. The character was missing from the new season 4 footage in the recently released trailer, which was shown at Comic-Con, an event the Harry Potter alum also didn't attend. As of yet, Felton has not booked a return to the show, but as with all actors in the Berlanti-verse, there's a chance we could see Felton again if it makes sense for the story and his scheduling permits it. b. http://ew.com/tv/2017/07/25/flash-tom-felton-not-returning-season-4/?utm_campaign=entertainmentweekly&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&xid=entertainment-weekly_socialflow_twitter 3. The Flash Gets a New Suit in Season 4 Set Photo (Date 29 July 2017) a. Set photos captured by YVRShoots.com show Gustin on set during July 28th, wearing what appears to be a new Flash suit. This comes after Gustin shared a photo of part of the suit on Instagram, and spoke about his desire for a new costume during an interview with ComicBook.com at San Diego Comic-Con. Interestingly, the suit is appears to be almost identical to the suit worn by the 2024 version of Barry Allen, which was briefly seen in last season's 'The Once and Future Flash'. b. http://comicbook.com/2017/07/29/the-flash-season-4-new-suit-barry-allen-grant-gustin/ 5. SUPERGIRL Season 3 Trailer Released; Calista Flockhart Set To Recur & Four New Cast Additions Announced (Date 22 July 2017) a. The CW has confirmed that Calista Flockhart will return for Supergirl season three and it sounds like she'll be popping in a lot more frequently this time around as she's secured recurring status. She'll first appear in the season premiere on October 9. Additionally, Adrian Pasdar, Carl Lumbly, Yael Grobglas, and Emma Tremblay have all joined the cast. Pasdar will play Morgan Edge, a ruthless real estate developer who will find himself at odds with Lena Luthor. Lumbly will play J'onn's father M'yrnn J'onzz, a pacifist religious leader on Mars. Grobglas will play Psi, a psychic villain who uses people's minds against them. Tremblay will play Ruby, a smart kid who's fascination with Supergirl lands her in serious trouble. The official season three trailer gives us our first look at Odette Annable as Reign and Erica Durance as Alura Zor-El. b. https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/dc/supergirl/supergirl-season-3-trailer-released-calista-flockhart-set-to-recur-four-new-cast-additions-announced-a152739 6. LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Season 3 Trailer Released; Both Captain Cold & Damien Darhk Will Return (Date 22 July 2017) a. The CW announced today that both Wentworth Miller and Neal McDonough will reprise their roles as Captain Cold and Damien Darhk, respectively, on the upcoming third season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Miller will actually return in a recurring capacity, but he won't exactly be the Leonard Snart we came to know and love in seasons one and two. He'll instead be playing a brand new version of fan-favorite character, which should lead to some interesting interactions between him and Mick. During the panel, executive producer Phil Klemmer teased, “Mick Rory needs his pal, but unfortunately he's not going to get the version of his pal that he remembers.” Meanwhile, McDonough will be upped to a series regular and will also come with his own, more dangerous, changes. "We'll be meeting a new version of Damien Darhk, a little less silly, a little more formidable." Arthur Darvill will also be back as Rip Hunter, but in a recurring role, and it sounds like he'll be coming into conflict with his former teammates. “Last season, the Legends were the only game in town,” Klemmer said. “Now they're competing with the best and brightest. Rip Hunter has reconstituted what the Time Masters were, so the existential question for the Legends is where do we fit into this universe?” As for new additions, a new villain will arise in the form of Kuasa, Vixen's granddaughter. Tala Ashe will also join the Waverider crew as Zari Adrianna Tomaz, a Muslim-American woman from 2030. b. https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/dc/legends_of_tomorrow/legends-of-tomorrow-season-3-trailer-released-both-captain-cold-damien-darhk-will-return-a152743 7. Spoiler Room: Scoop on Supergirl, Once Upon a Time, Defenders, and more (Date 27 July 2017) a. Is there any chance Alura is actually still alive on Supergirl? — With Erica Durance joining the show in a recast of Alura, EW pressed new showrunners Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner for answers at Comic-Con. “Shrouded in mystery, those questions,” Queller said coyly. Rovner added: “We wanted to keep Alura's presence on the show because it really connects Kara to Krypton and her roots and what it meant to see her family and her planet destroyed. It's an emotional grounding that's always important.” However, there's a good chance Mon-El ended up in the Phantom Zone — you know, the same Kryptonian prison that Alura had a hand in sending criminals to, so what if she escaped the destruction of Krypton and ended up there herself? Another dodge from the EPs: “Where Mon-El is and how he comes back is the central mystery of our season,” Queller said. “But the theme of this season is what does it mean to be human? Kara is going to be especially grappling with that, and all of the characters are. The loss of her family and Krypton impacts that a lot. The mother-daughter relationship is something we still want to explore in whatever fashion.” b. http://ew.com/tv/2017/07/27/spoiler-room-supergirl-once-upon-time-defenders/ 8. THE FLASH Star Grant Gustin Says It's The Show's Goal To Adapt CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS (Date 25 July 2017) a. Speaking to ComicBook at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, Grant Gustin confirmed that while it's still a long time from happening, it's been the goal to eventually adapt Crisis on Infinite Earths on the show . "We don't really talk about it on a yearly basis but it was mentioned early on and that's a goal. Obviously we'd have to go I think ten years to reach that, so there's a possibility for sure. It'll be fun to get there." The massive multiverse event saw the collapse of multiple parallel universes, along with the "death" of The Flash himself. The story has been hinted at since the pilot episode of the show, where the Reverse Flash views a newspaper headline from the future stating that The Flash has "vanished in a crisis". Showrunner Todd Helbing also spoke to CB about the upcoming season 4, which he promised will be "fun" again after the "doom and gloom" of season 3. "Last year, once we showed Iris die in the future, to keep up that doom and gloom, it becomes a burden, and not just on us writing-wise, on the show and it just sort of had this pall over the season that I think we didn't expect to be so heavy;” there is “a conscious effort of ours to really go back to everybody enjoyed being on this team and with each other, and make The Flash have fun again.” b. https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/dc/the_flash/the-flash-star-grant-gustin-says-its-the-shows-goal-to-adapt-crisis-on-infinite-earths-a152832 9. THE FLASH Is Reborn In The Official Comic-Con Trailer For The Upcoming Fourth Season (Date 22 July 2017) a. For the first time since the series' inception, a new character is taking on the voiceover and she doesn't sound quite like her usual hopeful self as the months without Barry have taken a serious toll on her. The new trailer also teases new villains, including a very interesting looking Samurai and a few returning faces. b. https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/dc/the_flash/the-flash-is-reborn-in-the-official-comic-con-trailer-for-the-upcoming-fourth-season-a152748 10. The Flash's Grant Gustin Says Speed Force Will Change Barry (Date 25 July 2017) a. “We're not necessarily going to see Barry's experience in the Speed Force. We'll see kind of the effects that the Speed Force has had on Barry, and he's been in there six months real-time,” Gustin started. “I suspect the Speed Force is kind of nonlinear with time, so Barry has experienced his entire life from star to end infinity times over since he's been in there. It's almost like a fresh start for me as an actor.” b. http://comicbook.com/2017/07/25/the-flash-speed-force-grant-gustin/ 11. Legends of Tomorrow Announces Tracy Ifeachor as S3 Villain (Date 26 July 2017) a. DC's Legends of Tomorrow will get mighty personal for Vixen in Season 3. During the show's panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Kuasa — the sister of Mari McCabe's Vixen — was announced as a villain for the upcoming season. Now, we can put a face to the name. Quantico star Tracy Ifeachor will play the character. Since Kuasa is Mari's sister, that also makes her the granddaughter of Amaya, who is slated to be a main character in Legends Season 3. At SDCC, executive producer Marc Guggenheim confirmed that the two will cross paths at some point this season, saying, “We're looking forward to the inevitable confrontation between Maisie [Richardson-Sellers]'s character and her granddaughter.” b. http://www.cbr.com/legends-of-tomorrow-kuasa-tracy-ifeachor/ 12. The Flash Season 4 Set Photos Show New Female Villain (Date 29 July 2017) a. YVRShoots.com recently shared pictures of The Flash's newest foe, who will reportedly appear the third episode of the season, entitled 'Luck Me a Lady.' In one set of photos, an actress is robbing a bank in a red dress, while other photos show the same actress running after a bus in a rather noteworthy casino outfit. Fans were quick to recognize the casino dealer outfit as that belonging to the DC Comics villain Becky Sharpe, a.k.a. Hazard. Hazard has appeared throughout the DC Comics mythos as a member of the Injustice Society, and was the granddaughter of the original Gambler. The antagonist is bestowed with psionic powers, which allow her to cause good or bad "accidents" to her foes. b. http://comicbook.com/2017/07/29/the-flash-set-photos-show-new-female-villain/ ARROW CAST AND CREW INTERVIEWS 1. Arrow's Emily Bett Rickards And Echo Kellum Explain Sexy Threats (Date: 28 July 2017) a. During a Comic Con Interview with Arrow's leading lady Emily Bett Rickards, we were joined by series regular Echo Kellum, who brought out Rickards's playful side. Rather than trying to finish our interview with Rickards and pull one or both of them back on track, we went with the more entertaining option of egging them on, asking among other things: "Can you tell me more about 'sexy threats?'" b. http://comicbook.com/2017/07/28/arrows-emily-bett-rickards-and-echo-kellum-explain-sexy-threats/ NEXT EPISODE Link to Promo: (Date: 08 March 2017) https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/dc/legends_of_tomorrow/legends-of-tomorrow-new-extended-promo-for-season-2-episode-14-moonshot-a149472 Episode: “Moonshot” [Season 2 Episode 14] Air Date: Tuesday, March 14, 2017 Summary: The Legends learn where the last fragment of the Spear of Destiny is hidden when they track Commander Steel to NASA Headquarters in 1970. [rating: 3/5] ASHLEY TRAVELLERS SEASON ONE created by : Brad Wright Thousands of special operatives, sent back in time from the future, are tasked with preventing the collapse of society. These operatives, known as "travelers", take over the body of a 21st century individual via a transfer of consciousness; to minimize impact on the timeline, it is performed moments before the person's recorded time of death. The transfer requires the exact location of the target; smart phones and GPS have made this possible only from the early 21st century onward. Prepared using social media and public records concerning their targets, small teams of travelers must maintain their hosts' pre-existing lives as cover while carrying out missions, dictated by their director in the future, aimed at saving the world from a series of catastrophic events. The Director communicates with travelers via pre-pubescent children used as messengers; unlike adults, any child can safely be taken over for a few minutes and then released from control. The show focuses on one team of five travelers, starting from their transfers of consciousness. As the series progresses, travelers affect the present and future in unanticipated ways. So many bombshells. So much excitement: Gotham: The Court of Owls broke Captain Barnes out of Arkham Asylum and Dr. Hugo Strange used his blood to make Tetch virus airborne. Kathryn tested Jim by having him watch the gas be released on a small group of innocents. With some help from Oswald and Firefly, Jim took down a Talon and saved the day. The Court later captured Oswald and caged him in a cell next to Ed. Lee continued pursuing her vendetta against Jim, and ended up resigning from GCPD. The plants woke Selina up, and she was off to Wayne Manor. Last Minute Reveal: Kathryn wanted Jim killed and Barnes broke through his bonds ready to perform an execution! Supergirl: Penultimate Episode - Rhea planned to enslave the Earth, proclaim it New Daxam, and force Mon-El and Lena to get hitched. After an Air Force One attack, President Marsden revealed herself to be an alien refugee and ordered Alex to break into the DEO and destroy Rhea's ship with a positron cannon. Cat Grant returned, reminded us why she is the most dynamic character on the show, inspired Kara to go after Rhea, and with help from Winn, inspired all of National City to fight back against the Daxamites. Lillian Luthor and Cyborg Superman helped Kara rescue Lena and Mon-El but pulled a double-cross. When Alex learned Kara was still aboard Rhea's ship, she hesitated and the positron cannon was destroyed. Last Minute Reveal: Rhea stepped aside and let Kara get punched out… by Superman! The Flash: Penultimate Episode - Barry traveled into the past and brought back Captain Cold to help him break into ARGUS, neutralize King Shark, and take the Dominators' Crystal. Last Minute Reveal: As Barry ran, we saw a video message from Iris to Barry reciting her wedding vows. Barry failed to save Iris and held her body in his arms! iZOMBIE: Liv went “Red” and nearly choked out Blaine but believed he didn't steal the cure. Blaine was feeling down until Don stole his brain business and left him, shot in the gut. One of Peyton's cases was blown up by attorney Harry Thorne and the next day the defendant hung himself. Peyton asked Ravi to blue-soak the brain for answers. Major and Justin discovered the Scratching Post. Justin went on a sort-of-date with Liv. Major and Justin tracked down Harley Johns and confronted him on a dark road at night. Last Minute Reveal: Harley ran over Justin, who went “Red”, chased down Harley and jumped on the hood of his car, before getting thrown. Harley took a video of Justin's attack and now has proof Zombies exist! ARROW: Penultimate Episode – 5 years ago, Kovar injected Oliver with a serum that caused him to feel extreme pain and hallucinate his past failures. A vision of Laurel convinced him not to kill himself. In the present, the team threw Ollie a surprise birthday party. Then one-by-one Adrian Chase had each teammate kidnapped by Talia al-Ghul's army, including Evelyn and Black Siren. Turns out Wild Dog didn't abandon his daughter after all. Quentin met Black Siren and it took time for him to realize she wasn't Laurel. Malcolm Merlyn showed up to help. Oliver learned that his son, William, had also been snatched, tried stopping Chase, but ultimately had to let him escape. Nyssa al-Ghul joined Oliver's cause. Oliver tracked Chase to his old island and set out to rescue his friends. Last Minute Reveal: Oliver entered the ARGUS submarine prison and asked Deathstroke for help!

FAMILY SECRET - When Talia refers to her agelessness as a "family secret," it's the kind of cutesy clue that Nyssa used to drop in her early appearances, where she didn't directly name-drop Ra's al Ghul or the Lazarus Pit, but made references that were pretty clear to people in the know. Back then, of course, we always wondered whether Ra's would ever make an appearance. Now, he's come and gone, and we know that this kind of vague dialogue is mostly to keep continuity tidy so that Oliver doesn't realize exactly who he's dealing with when Ra's and Nyssa come in later. THE FLASH & CAPTAIN SINGH - In what Marc Guggenheim tweeted was the quickest crossover Arrow has ever done with The Flash, we got to see Barry speed (in costume) into his boss's office to vouch for Green Arrow. What's nice to see is Captain Singh, Barry's boss, who hasn't been seen much this season. It felt a bit like last night, when the long-absent Miss Tessmacher from Supergirl had a quick cameo on The Flash. SONUS - Sean Sonus, alias Discord is a sonic villain who fights Green Arrow and Black Canary. He first appeared in Green Arrow and Black Canary #15, and was co-created by Arrow EP Andrew Kreisberg and artist Mike Norton. DINAH DRAKE - "Dinah Drake" is actually the name of the original/Earth-2 Black Canary, who existed in the comics before Dinah Lance did. ARROW NEWS: New Arrow Episode Gets A Russian Title As It Begins Production (Date: 30 Jan 2017) Marc Guggenheim, the show's executive producer, shared a cover of the new episode's script, and let fans know that it was beginning production. Episode 17 will be titled 'Kapot', which is a Russian word meaning 'cowl' or 'hood'. Flashbacks reveal how Rene went from simple family man to a hero named Wild Dog. Meanwhile, Oliver (Stephen Amell) must deal with the perpetrator behind the attack and realizes the best way to do so is as Mayor Queen instead of the Green Arrow. Tensions run high in the Arrow bunker. Kristin Windell directed the episode written by Marc Guggenheim (#513). Actually, when TVLine last spoke to Wendy Mericle, the Arrow scribes were in the midst of hashing out a return scenario for Little Miss Benedict Arnold. “We have a really cool, exciting twist for how she's going to reappear,” the EP teased, noting: “The interesting thing about the choices Evelyn has made is that as much as she took the moral high ground when confronting Oliver, she has allied herself with someone who is even worse,” in Prometheus. “She's gone from the frying pan into the fire.” Link:http://tvline.com/2017/01/31/bones-final-season-spoilers-booth-gordon-wyatt/ Wayback Wednesday: Watch The First Ever Trailer For Arrow (Date: 01 Feb 2017) In honor of Wayback Wednesday - and a brand new episode of Arrow tonight - it's about time to take a look back at the first ever trailer for Arrow. This footage was seen in 2012, and it talked a lot about Oliver Queen's return to the real world, after he was thought to be dead. The trailer shows Oliver on the island, beard and all, as well as his assimilation back into society. If that sounds familiar, that's because Dinah Drake is the name of the original Black Canary. Dinah debuted in 1947's “Flash Comics” #86 as Black Canary. Later, she married a man named Larry Lance and subsequently changed her name to Dinah Lance. Inspired by Dinah, her daughter Dinah Laurel Lance would go on to become a founding member of the Justice League. When the New 52 restarted DC Comics' continuity, the Black Canary legacy was retconned, and Dinah Drake was restored as the one and only Black Canary. This New 52 version of Dinah Drake was formerly married to Kurt Lance, but the two divorced. Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-tina-boland-black-canary-dinah-drake/ Arrow: What is Helix? (Date: 01 Feb 2017) Helix was a supervillain group led by Dr. Benjamin Love, aka Mr. Bones. The members were six mutated children who had been experimented on and then kidnapped by Love. They grew up to be a rather bizarre cast of characters, including Kritter (a human/dog hybrid) and Baby Boom (a young child who can cause explosions with her mind). It's safe to assume that any future appearances of Helix will certainly be way more grounded in reality - with any mention of the original characters probably being used as online screennames. This is similar to the inclusion of the secret organization Shadowspire in Arrow, which was given a much more realistic makeover. When recently discussing the dynamic between Felicity and Diggle going forward, Arrow executive-producer Wendy Mericle mentioned that the events in 'Second Chances' will play into the rest of the season. "Part of what kicks [Felicity] off down this darker path is she's going to find evidence to exonerate him -- and [Diggle's] going to have to deal with the fallout of the fact that Felicity is now going down a questionable path in part because of him." With that in mind, there's a very good chance that tonight's episode will not be the last time we hear of Helix on Arrow. Heroes Unite.” In the episode, a White Martian arrives in National City to capture M'gann and return her to Mars, where she's to be punished as a traitor. Unwilling to allow that to happen, Hank Henshaw and Supergirl bring M'gann to the Department of Extra-Normal Operations for protection, only for circumstances to turn from bad to worse. So there's a fair amount of Flash-ness going on in Legends. I wish I could say that we were so smart to take advantage of the new timeslot and do that, but we weren't that smart. We just had already sort of been doing that organically anyway when we found out about the new timeslot. I will say this: There's a love scene in episode 11 and we were in the editing room on it — it's a love scene, it gets a little steamy — and I was joking, ‘Let's take that 9 p.m. timeslot out for a spin.'” The article has the audio of the interview with Guggenheim. As for when we'll get to see the duo in action, it looks like episode twelve, titled "Untouchable," is a good bet as it'll feature a subplot with the Scarlet Speedster helping Kid Flash elevate his game to the next level. Check out the new "Lightning Strikes Twice" poster. Details on his return are still scarce, but the actor gave EW a little tease of what to expect. “I was there last week,” he shared at Honda's “Hockey Goes Hollywood” event in Los Angeles. “I can tell you that my scenes are with Grant [Gustin] and Danielle [Panabaker]. And I may or may not be alive.” That last part is key, considering the last we saw of Ronnie, he died as a result of destroying the singularity that opened up the path to Earth-2, where that planet's Ronnie was a villain named Deathstorm. Being back on Flash is always a treat for Amell, who got to catch up with his TV wife and former superhero partner and have his first true Ronnie and Barry scene. When asked about Captain Cold, he said, “He is going to be a full-fledged member of the Legion of Doom and be very valuable to them on multiple fronts. Eobard has done his homework in this regard, and he's recruited somebody who's fully on board with the Legion of Doom's mission and he also understands the complications that Captain Cold's relationship with the Legends… the psychological complications that inform Eobard and his plans.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/legends-of-tomorrow-matt-letscher-legion-of-doom-reverse-flash-captain-cold/ KEIYNAN LONSDALE TALKS WALLY'S TRANSFORMATION INTO KID FLASH (Date: 31 Jan 2017) Interview with CBR. When asked about Savitar, he said, “Savitar is the biggest threat that any of them have faced. Fortunately, Barry doesn't have to do this alone. He's always had Team Flash. Other people are getting powers. It's going to take everyone working together to stop him. Wally is super-crucial to that.” Also, he won't be singing in the musical episode. She wrote “Super Friend,” which will be performed by Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist. The episode will also feature an original song written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen) called “Runnin' Home to You” that Gustin will perform. Details of her character aren't known, but it's described by the CW as “a mysterious new role that will become the new Big Bad of Season 2.” Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said of Hatcher's casting, “No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all time favorite Lois Lane. To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, Greg, and the fans.” Link:http://deadline.com/2017/01/supergirl-teri-hatcher-season-2-cast-recurring-1201898430/ ‘Black Lightning' Drama Eyes Move To the CW To Join Greg Berlanti Comic Lineup (Date: 02 Feb 2017) Deadline has learned that Black Lightning, the high-profile drama based on the DC character, which had a big production commitment at Fox, is on the move and likely to land at the CW. The project comes from Greg Berlanti, king of the CW's DC universe. Fox brass ultimately decided that the superhero show was not a good fit. The CW is home of Berlanti Prods.'s four DC/WBTV superhero series — Supergirl, Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, which Berlanti also co-created. That makes the network a suitable home for Black Lightning, which would give the CW's DC universe its first major African American superhero. Black Lightning would be the only black superhero toplining his own broadcast series and the second currently on TV, joining Marvel's Luke Cage on Netflix. This time around, he got a version of the Steel powers -- and, as in the comics, it comes from Nazis trying to take out the JSA who inadvertently provide him with abilities. TO BE MARRIED TOMORROW - The idea that the beautiful girl he happens upon is set to be married tomorrow to the Shogun -- loosely translated as "Royal Ugly Dude" -- feels like the kind of thing that pops up from time to time in time-travel fiction...but Bill & Ted is the most obvious one for us. LOST - "If I've learned one thing from Lost, it's that you don't go opening secret hatches." This is one of a couple of not-so-subtle pop culture references this week. Typically those don't make the "Easter eggs" lists, but we're acknowledging more of them this year since last season we had lots of fans chiming in to let us know that we "missed" them in the comments. Obviously, that's a reference to the long-running network drama LOST, one of the big mysteries of which revolved around a hatch into an underground chamber which, rather than providing the answers the characters hoped, only resulted in more questions. 2056 - There are a few superheroes -- notably The Flash and Green Lantern -- who have spent time in the not-too-distant future quite a bit in their careers, but the year 2056 doesn't come up specifically in the comics. Where it does come up is in Young Justice, the animated series in which Barry Allen's grandson Bart (Impulse/Kid Flash/Flash) played a key role. In that version of the story, Bart comes from a future where The Reach has conquered Earth and travels back in time to join Young Justice, which in part could potentially help to alter that dark future. MASTER YODA - Of course, almost anyone would know that the reference to Ray Palmer's "sensei" Yoda, who shared the wisdom "do or do not; there is no try," is a nod to The Empire Strikes Back, in which the diminutive Jedi Master trained Luke Skywalker to harness the Force. THE SOULTAKER - It's established by the end of the episode that the young woman Nate wanted to help was pretty capable of defending herself under normal circumstances. She's from the clan Yamashiro, which if you don't recognize, you ought to. Not only did her descendant Tatsu Yamashiro and her husband Maseo recur throughout season 3 of Arrow, but Tatsu also appeared in this summer's Suicide Squad movie in her costumed identity as Katana. That sword? It's the Soultaker which, in the comics and in the Suicide Squad movie, absorbs the soul energy of the people killed with it. ARROW NEWS Marc Guggenheim reveals Ep 16 Title: Checkmate (Date: 19 Jan 2017) * The sixteenth episode of Arrow's fifth season has gone into production, and EP Marc Guggenheim has given some insight into what's coming up with a peek at the episode's title. * The episode is called "Checkmate," which Guggenheim assures us that it does not refer to the spy agency formerly run by Maxwell Lord and Amanda Waller in the comics.Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/01/19/arrow-episode-16-title-revealed-by-executive-producer/ ARROW SYNOPSIS TEASES PROPER INTRODUCTION FOR TALIA AL GHUL (Date: 14 Jan 2017) Titled “Second Chances,” the Feb. 1 episode will see Oliver Queen team up with Talia in flashbacks in an effort to defeat Russian government strongman Kovar. TALIA AL GHUL TAKES OLIVER UNDER HER WING — In his quest to take down Kovar, Oliver (Stephen Amell) gets help from a surprising source – Talia al Ghul (guest star Lexa Doig). Does that mean Nyssa will be returning as well? Cinemablend recently caught up with Law to discuss her role in the Training Day TV adaptation from CBS but also asked about a possible Arrow guest spot. "There's always talk. Whether or not those talks will ever come to fruition is another matter, but I would love to have a reunion with Talia. I just think having the two sisters either fight side by side together or fight with each other would be epic either way. And then if we could somehow do some sort of flashback with Ra's al Ghul coming in as well… Let's petition to make that happen." But before you get your hopes up, Law cautioned that the shooting schedule for Training Day makes it difficult for her to get away to Vancouver, where Arrow films.Link:https://www.comicbookmovie.com/tv/dc/arrow/katrina-law-on-whether-arrow-will-have-a-nyssa-and-talia-al-ghul-a148121 A New Female Vigilante Is Coming To Arrow (Date: 16 Jan 2017) Part of the synopsis for episode 11 states: “Meanwhile, Curtis (Echo Kellum), tells the team about a female vigilante, Tina Boland (Juliana Harkavy) he uncovered on-line who has been wreaking havoc all over the country.” Tina Boland… a vigilante with no code name. And the description of those who have seen her on the set is that she wears all black. Put that with the executive producer Wendy Mericle saying that Green Arrow needs Black Canary and the spoiler-ish trailer telling us that the Laurel Lance we've seen is the Earth-2 version… this is making people on-line question if Tina Boland will become the new Black Canary. Earth-1 Laurel asked Ollie to not let the Black Canary end with her. Only the Earth-2 Laurel solves the problem of the Canary Cry being natural, but having her go through a full redemption arc compared to bringing in a new character all together might make Tina the better choice. We know she ends up joining with Team Arrow against Prometheus… but will she do it in a familiar black outfit? Link:https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/01/16/new-female-vigilante-coming-arrow/ Arrow Will Have a Dolph Lundgren-Heavy Episode Set Mostly in the Russia Flashbacks This Season (Date: 17 Jan 2017) Action movie icon Dolph Lundgren will take center stage in an upcoming Arrow episode set almost entirely during the flashbacks later this season. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim told ComicBook.com that he and the writers were aware of the excitement fans have for both Lundgren and the Bratva flashbacks, as well as the additional social media attention on all things Russian just now, all of which makes the episode seem like a good way to fill in some backstory. "Russia is very much in the zeitgeist these days, and coming into the back half of the year, we're doing a lot more with Russia," Guggenheim told ComicBook.com. "We're going to do a Russia-centric episode, a flashback-centric episode like we did in the first three years of the show. We'll be doing that later on in the season and that will have Dolph Lundgren's character, Konstantin Kovar, very much front and center."Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/01/18/arrow-will-have-a-dolph-lundgren-heavy-episode-set-mostly-in-the/ Arrow Season 5 Extended Trailer - 'This Is Getting Good' (Date: 18 Jan 2017) The CW has just debuted a new trailer ahead of next week's new episode, and it focuses on the questions surrounding Laurel's sudden reappearance. After Oliver sees her, he begins to wonder if what he's seeing is real. The remaining issues surrounding Prometheus are still weighing heavy on Oliver and the team, and it sends him further into a state of disbelief. For anyone in that world, it's a difficult time to understand what's going on around you. In addition to the teasing of these complicated plot lines, the new trailer features a ton of action. Beth Schwartz and Sarah Tarkoff wrote the episode, which will be the directorial debut of Ken Shane, a veteran second unit director and assistant director who has not only worked on Arrow for years but also worked on Alien 3 and Tim Burton's Batman.Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/01/19/arrow-episode-16-title-revealed-by-executive-producer/ Title (Date: xx month year) SummaryLink:http://comicbook.com/2017/01/19/arrow-episode-16-title-revealed-by-executive-producer/ GENERAL DC TV NEWS KEVIN SMITH TEASES NEW ALIEN SPECIES IN SUPERGIRL (Date: 17 Jan 2017) A photo was posted to Smith's Instagram page and shows him sandwiched in-between two menacing looking aliens. Those aliens, you might remember, were teased in the “Supergirl Lives” extended trailer that the CW released the other day. As it turns out, that alien species has a name, and they are Maaldorians. It seems like this particular alien species was created specifically for this episode, so it's unknown what the aspects and abilities of them will be. Whatever powers they may possess, it seems like Supergirl can still take them down with no problem, as she punches one with no hesitation in the trailer.Link:http://www.cbr.com/kevin-smith-teases-new-alien-species-in-supergirl/ Neil A FLASH ALUM TEASES UNEXPECTED RETURN (Date: 16 Jan 2017) When a television series frequently features time travel, alternate timelines and alternate universes, a character's death doesn't necessarily have the usual feeling of finality. Central City Police Detective Eddie Thawne after actor Rick Consett announced today that he's coming back to The CW drama. How Eddie Thawne finds himself back in Star City remains to be seen. The show was recently renewed for a fourth season, and given the nature of the space-time continuum, the guest roles could keep coming for Cosnett.Link:http://www.cbr.com/a-flash-alum-teases-unexpected-return/ Michelle SUPERGIRL TRAILER TEASES RETURN OF LIVEWIRE AND DOMINATORS (Date: 13 Jan 2017) Fortunately, a new trailer for The CW's “Supergirl” marks the return of the heroine for the second half of Season Two with the Kevin Smith-directed “Supergirl Lives,” which sees Kara Danvers, played by Melissa Benoist, and Mon-El, portrayed by Chris Wood, traveling to another world to break up an alien slaver's ring. The trailer also teases bigger events down the road. Long-running “Superman” villainess Livewire, played by Brit Morgan, will make her return, and it looks as if greater emphasis will be placed on Jimmy Olsen's (Mechad Brooks) costume identity Guardian. Link:http://www.cbr.com/supergirl-trailer-teases-return-of-livewire-and-dominators/ Chris Legends of Tomorrow star Wentworth Miller talks Captain Cold's return (Date: 11 Jan 2017) After sacrificing himself in season 1 to destroy the Time Council and save the Legends, Snart (Wentworth Miller) is slated to join Reverse-Flash (Matt Letscher), Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough), and Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman) in the Legion of Doom — and not just as a vision in Mick's (Dominic Purcell) head. How? Well, it is a time travel show, and it sounds like the Legion may be scooping up Snart from an earlier time. “My sense is that if Snart comes back into the storyline via his present day incarnation, then he's a straight up villain,” Miller tells EW — the actor was on hand at the Television Critics Association's press tour Wednesday to promote the return of Prison Break. “He hasn't gone on that first season Legends of Tomorrow journey yet, so when we meet him again — quote unquote alive in 2017 — I imagine that he's going to be much like when we first met him the first season on The Flash, which I'm looking forward to, because it means I get to arc to a completely different place.”Link:http://ew.com/tv/2017/01/11/legends-of-tomorrow-star-wentworth-miller-captain-cold-return/ THE FLASH: THE FUTURE ISN'T WHAT IT USED TO BE IN EXTENDED TRAILER (Date: 17 Jan 2017) In this extended trailer for “Borrowing Problems from the Future,” the mid-season premiere, Barry and Cisco work backwards to prevent a future where Savitar kills Iris. HR Wells also toasts to Barry and Iris' relationship, and the team assembles to outsmart Savitar once and for all.Link:http://www.cbr.com/the-flash-barry-cisco-head-back-to-the-future-in-extended-trailer/ Michelle JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK: DEADMAN REACHES OUT TO BATMAN IN NEW CLIP (Date: 17 Jan 2017) Batman is in for a nasty surprise. In a new clip from “Justice League Dark,” Deadman reaches out for the Dark Knight's help, but he may just cross a boundary or two in order to do so. The clip opens as Bruce Wayne prepares for a shave. As soon as he touches his razor to his face, though, an unseen entity creeps up behind him, and he appears to be completely oblivious to its presence. When he becomes aware of it, it startles him enough that he cuts his cheek, and the pain causes him to look away for a brief moment. When he looks back up, he finds a name scrawled in the fogged up mirror: Constantine.Link:http://www.cbr.com/justice-league-dark-deadman-reaches-out-to-batman-in-new-clip/?utm_source=CBR-TW&utm_medium=Social-Distribution&utm_campaign=CBR-TW&view=list Neil Kevin Smith Returning to Supergirl For Another Season 2 Episode (Date: 18 Jan 2017) Smith told ComicBook.com that he will return for a second episode this season -- the as-yet-untitled seventeenth episode of the season. Smith said that midway through the episode “Supergirl Lives”, producers started feeling out his schedule. Ultimately, they offered him episode 17, which he described as "sweet," saying that it was nice that producers liked the job he was doing enough to bring him back within the season.Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/01/18/kevin-smith-returning-to-supergirl-for-another-season-2-episode/?utm_source=Comicbook.com&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=170118_180220_Comicbook.com%20Daily%20Newsletter&utm_content=Link GREEN ARROW COMICS & TOY NEWS DC COMICS RAISES PRICE FOR MONTHLY REBIRTH TITLES, ADDS DIGITAL CODES (Date: 17 Jan 2017) DC Comics will raise the prices of 15 of its monthly “Rebirth” series starting in April, with cover prices increasing from $2.99 to $3.99. He's small in the WWE world but he and Amell paired up well in fight scenes. Makes you realize in pro-wrestling he might be small but in life he's a big dude CURRENT EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS & POP CULTURE REFERENCES Season Episode “A Matter of Trust” (Date:20 Oct 2016) Article:http://comicbook.com/2016/10/20/arrow-easter-eggs-and-other-things-you-might-have-missed-in-a-ma/ “A Matter of Trust” is the name of a Billy Joel song; Marc Guggenheim is a huge Billy Joel song. The song's title happens to fit this episode's theme. Stardust - Stardust, the name of the drug in this week's episode, has some special resonance for guest star Cody Runnels, also known as Cody Rhodes, the WWE Superstar formerly known as Stardust. Cody Runnels - He's Runnels here, not Rhodes, in the opening credits. That's likely because he doesn't actually own the trademark to "Cody Rhodes," his stage name with the WWE. Since Rhodes's father was Dusty Rhodes, he and his brother took on the family name when they came into professional wrestling. Now that he's no longer a member of the WWE family, he might not have easy access to his actual family's stage name. John Jr, - This is the first on-camera reference to John Diggle, Jr. in Arrow. Last week on The Flash, fans learned that John Diggle, friend and former bodyguard to Oliver Queen, has a son -- and that was a surprise. That's right: Barry Allen's excellent "Flashpoint" adventure through time created the unintended consequence of giving John Diggle a son -- John Diggle, Jr. -- rather than the daughter -- Sara Diggle -- fans got to know after she was born in season 3 of the hit CW drama. Deadshot - Deadshot, a member of the Suicide Squad and the deadly assassin long thought to have murdered John Diggle's brother, showed up in a vision to Dig this week, haunting him for killing Andy himself last season. Susan Williams - Susan Williams is, in the comics, the sister-in-law of Hal Jordan, one of Earth's Green Lanterns. Created by John Broome and Gil Kane in the early days of the Silver Age Green Lantern titles, Susan was a bit of a rabble-rouser then, too; she ended up in a relationship with one of the Jordan brothers while digging around into who Green Lantern was. Falling into a vat of chemicals is similar to the origin of the Joker Adrian Chase - Adrian Chase is introduced this week. The hot-headed, good-looking district attorney is actually better known as Vigilante in the comics.Created during Marv Wolfman's time on the New Teen Titans, Vigilante in the comics is a former New York district attorney who's set on the path of justice after his family is killed by the mob. The CW describes him similarly: Chase is "Star City's new district attorney and an ally of Mayor Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell), who aims to clean up the streets through the legal system." “You have failed this city” make an appearance - like season 1 Lethal Weapon - Stardust burns his arm Terry Sloane - This week, we finally got to see Curtis suit up, going into the field in his Mister Terrific costume for the first time. He hasn't yet identified himself using the "Mister Terrific" name, although he did namecheck Terry Sloane -- the Golden Age Mr. Terrific from the comics -- as his inspiration (and the inspiration for the "Fair Play" jacket he wears). Trope of cool guy walking toward camera with explosion in background Oliver thinking Wild Dog's hockey mask is “cool” is likely a reference to Amell's role of Casey Jones in ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows.' Curtis calls it the “Arrowcave” ARROW NEWS: Arrowverse Crossover is ‘very, very faithful' to DC's Invasion! (Date: 14 Oct 2016) Marc Guggenheim promises that the crossover will be faithful to the story in the comics. In the comics, the Dominators assemble a coalition of extraterrestrial races to invade Earth, with the goal of eliminating the threat posed by metahumans. Unknown to their allies, the Dominators intend to harness the metagene and create their own army of metahumans. Guggenheim says that the crossover will be “just big, bombastic, huge action.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrowverse-crossover-is-very-very-faithful-to-dcs-invasion/ Who are the Dominators? Wil Traval (Jessica Jones) will play Christopher Chance, aka the Human Target, a private investigator and bodyguard who assumes the identities of clients mark for assassination. This is not the Human Target's first TV appearance. Rick Springfield starred as Christopher Chance on a short-lived drama that aired in 1992 on ABC, and FOX aired its adaptation in 2011, which starred Mark Valley (John Scott on Fringe). Also, Cold will be part of the Legion of Doom. The 100th episode of ‘Arrow' promises to be big with appearances by John Barrowman as Merlin and Neal McDonough as Damian Darhk; the 100th episode will also be part of the big crossover, but Guggenheim says that the 100th will be ‘Arrow'-centric. The Top, played by Ashley Rickards, will also be appearing, alongside the very familiar, very missed face of Captain Cold. When Mirror Master and The Top go looking for Cold, they'll run into a little trouble with The Flash and his new speedster-in-training, Jesse Quick. Link:http://www.cbr.com/mirror-master-debuts-in-new-flash-promo/ Chris How Supergirl gets into the Crossover (Date: 20 Oct 2016) The 100th episode will, in fact, be part 3 of that crossover, and executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently spoke to Collider on how Supergirl is fitting in with the Arrowverse. "Last year, Supergirl established that The Flash was able to make his way to what I call Earth-CBS, and it stands to reason that with the proper breach technology, the reverse can happen. Once the heroes realize that they're up against aliens, they decide that they need an alien on their side and, fortunately, Barry knows a really nice one. I don't think it's a big shock that, between Barry and Cisco, and all of their experiences with Earth-2 and the multi-verse, that they can pluck her from Earth-CBS." (Date: 20 Oct 2016) Hamill was spotted on the set of The Flashl ooking decidedly Joker-esque. Considering that Flash is currently exploring an alternate timeline in its "Flashpoint" season, it's possible this is a Joker inspired alternate version of the Trickster. Or maybe, just maybe, many fans will get their wish and finally see Hamill take the role of the Clown Prince of Crime into live action. Leviathan CGI was interesting, not great, not crappy Compressed light blasts - aww yeah Bad-ass punch to the head Kendra v Savage Really liked the mace effect Kendra laid into Savage and Carter with a bad ass spiked mace - no blood Legends and Cassandra Savage v. Shock Troops Casandra with the throwing knife in the back … But why did they stand around when they had Savage at the start Time Travel: Share your thoughts He knows where his family is even though they were at Whitechapel - can't get his family to safety. OK, so no matter what he does Savage's forces keep killing his family - time wants his family to die, yet he's still trying to change it. Rip Hunter Running into the final battle at the rally with no real plan - yet another example of not great captaining A bit of a dick not wanting the refugees on board Gideon He basically gives up when the Waverider is damaged. Vandal Savage Great speech at the start Vandal Savage's Daughter - Cassandra Savage Decent training montage with a katana She didn't know that the Armageddon virus was unleashed by Savage, and that Savage created Per Degaton… and there came the inevitable reveal Joins the rebels at the end. The Atom - Ray Palmer “It worked, I'm not dead… yet” Giant Sized ATOM Looks crushed when Kendra says “we need to talk” White Canary - Sara Lance Aside from decent staff fighting, not a lot Kinda weird that she brought up the whole soulmate thing with Kendra, but she's her friend, so I guess it was in character Hawkgirl - Kendra Saunders Golden mace is pretty cannon - Nth metal Hawkman - Carter Hall Spike mace training scene, he wasn't actually a bit of a douche Captain Cold - Leonard Snart Solid throughout the episode, esp. In his interactions with Cassandra Backstory with his dad who was a monster is a lot of callback to the Flash Episode with Golden Glider as well. Heatwave - Mick Rory “It works with my outfit” It's great when Mic is actually into the role - his looks while interrogating the daughter was kinda awesome. Firestorm - Professor Martin Stein Cared about the refugees, but didn't have a lot to do - was injured for the climactic fight. Firestorm - Jefferson Jackson Ray's cheering section - not a lot of direct action since Stein was out of commission. Waverider/Gideon EPISODE DC EASTER EGGS: Season 1 Episode 13 “Leviathan” (Date: 29 Apr 2016) Article:http://comicbook.com/dc/2016/04/29/dcs-legends-of-tomorrow---x-things-you-might-have-missed-in-levi/ Leviathan: There have been two Leviathans in DC Comics. The first Leviathan was Gim Allor, a member of the Legion of Super-Heroes. The most recent Leviathan wasn't a person at all, but an offshoot of the League of Assassins. Talia al Ghul created Leviathan to oppose Batman Inc. Growing Atom: Savage's Leviathan is clearly a giant version of Ray's ATOM suit The Rebel Leader: Sharon Taylor, who played the unnamed Rebel Leader on tonight's episode, was in Smallville, she played Zod's lieutenant Faora Cassandra Savage: Cassandra Savage is actually based on a different DC character... Kassandra Sage is one of Vandal Savage's daughters in the New 52. After the police arrested Savage for a string of sacrificial murders, Kass grew up to become a profiler for the FBI, specializing in serial killers. After not speaking to Savage for years, Kass used her father to help solve a string of copycat murders committed by the son of the man who arrested Savage. Of course, most fans were hoping that Cassandra would wind up being Scandal Savage, a member of the Secret Six, a group of anti-hero mercenaries. Extra - thumping class of scotch looked like Jurassic Park. Extra - did anyone think of Capt. America Civil war when ATOM grew - like Ant-man growing into Giant-man ARROW NEWS: Wendy Mericle talks Prometheus, no magic, and Flashpoint (Date: 24 Aug 2016) * “for Season 5 … we did want to go back to our roots and figure out what is specific to this show. He has a very personal grudge and axe to grind with Oliver and he's going to come at him in a really interesting, sociopathic kind of way." * "Flashpoint provides an interesting jumping off point for all the shows this year, in that we have this reset button available to us if we want it," Link:http://comicbook.com/2016/08/24/arrow-season-5-more-details-on-prometheus-and-flashpoint-effect/ Background on the comic book Prometheus * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prometheus_(comics) * Three villains have used the name, but the “second” Prometheus is the main one. * No powers, but can download files on any hero and upload fighting styles * Sometimes set up as the Anti-Batman * Ties in to Green Arrow mythology through the very controversial Justice League: Cry for Justice, miniseries (2009) where [Spoiler alert] his actions result in (i) the death of Roy Harper's daughter, (ii) Roy losing an arm, and ultimately (iii) Ollie murdering Prometheus in cold blood in revenge. "We love working with Teddy. He's such an amazing actor and amazing person, and was so much a part of the success of this show last season. There aren't any immediate plans for that, but you can't keep a good Black Flash down, so I'm sure we'll be seeing him in the future." In that tale, the town wasn't run by criminals, but by a particularly controlling sect of nuns. Kuberts Barbershop sign: One of the storefronts in Salvation features a pretty familiar name to DC Comics fans: Kubert. In this instance, it's likely a nod to Joe Kubert, whose work on Jonah Hex comics helped to craft the look of the character's early years. Kubert, of course, also worked on a lot of classic Hawkman stories, meaning that his influence has been felt quite a bit on Legends. Jonah Hex: While Hex's origin is that of a post-Civil War bounty hunter, he's had some time-travel adventures himself. In the DC Comics Universe, when he found himself flung to the far future after the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths. G. Wells: The child Stein saves in the episode is actually a young H.G. Wells, whose The Time Machine is widely regarded as one of the earliest and best novels on the topic of time-travel. ---- But we all know Warehouse 13 told the TRUE story of H.G. Well. (Shannon, that's for you!) John Wayne reference: Ray comes up with another great alias... Turnbull: Turnbull, the man who's responsible for the sacking of Calvert, Oklahoma, is a Jonah Hex villain from the comics. He was also the villain in the Jonah Hex movie played by John Malkovich. Hannibal Hawkes: Hannibal Hawkes isn't just the Old West hero Nighthawk, but in modern stories it was revealed that he was, indeed, one of the many lives of Prince Khufu/Hawkman.
