The Boyz have spent many a ‘Hard Days Night' over these last few years in Homan Studio “A” pontificating on all manner of subjects, which have produced a stockpile of recordings. Not everything makes the grade for release to the world.  Only those recordings that tickle-the-entire-team in the studio are produced into a Hamlin Avenue Boyz Album of tracks.   No matter the weather, most often The Boyz arrive late in the evening parking in the darkened alley behind the studio. They come ready to enjoy each other's company, the company of the studio staff and with an almost ‘ceremonial' approach - the entire team will imbibe in some select herb.  Only then do they signal the engineer with a ‘thumbs up' to hit the record button and capture the come-what-may moments with the help of the always dependable studio staff of support.  This scene continues sometimes through the night.   On this particular late-night, along with the many other unusual subjects of discussion, the Boyz got on a tangent that was quite surprising to say the least.  As an example - ‘Dirty Feet'.  That's right we did just say that.  Anything and everything related to da feet.  Who knew there was so much to say. Who knew the younger generation generally doesn't like the idea of feet or looking at them.  At all.  Who knew there was a solid reason for so much feet washing in biblical times.  Feet had to have been real freakin dirty back then right?  And who knew Vince does not want anyone touching his feet. “Nobody”! To quote an iconic audio artist from the past, Biggie Smalls (Notorious B.I.G.)  “And If you don't know.  Now you know….”  So, enjoy you some ‘Dirty Feet'. As always, thank you for pointing your ears in this direction now and then and for all your communications to the show.  And we do mean ‘all'.  We encourage you (if the feeling arises) to send the Boyz your comments, questions, or hypotheticals.  Send a shout-out to The Hamlin Avenue Boyz in care of: JustRollTape@mail.com Vince Hamlin Edward Hamlin TRACKS: Fiddler SuperstarBeautyTalk N Tunes Juke BoxDirty Feet MUSIC COMPOSITION / PERFORMANCE CREDITS: “Fiddler On The Roof” Sheldon Harnick & Jerry Bock 1964 / The Original Fiddler On The Roof Cast Album 1964“What Is Beauty” Namie And The Waves 2023 / Namie And The Waves 2023“Jewels in Indra's Web” Jami Sieber 2013 / Jami Sieber 2013       “Snake Shake” Alan Horwarth & John Carpenter 1981 / Alan Horwarth & John Carpenter       “Politician” Peter Ronald Brown, John Symon Asher Bruce, John-Paul Gastor 2007 / Morgan Heritage 2007       “Food” Bad Bad Not Good & GhostFace Killah 2015 / Bad Bad Not Good & Ghostface Killah 2015       “Dreams” Greg Allman 1969 / Allman Brothers 1969       “Pretty Things” Tony Lucca & Joe Firstman 2008 / Tony Lucca 2008 4.  “Dirty Feet” Trace Jory 2016 / Trace Jory 20126 RECORDING ENGINEERS / BOARD OPERATORS: D.E.B. (May 2021) Gil is a world renowned drummer who shares his deep passion and knowledge for Reggae drumming in this great episode. He takes us through all the sub genres such as ska, rocksteady, dub, and dancehall. Plus he teaches us about the legends in Reggae drumming such as Lloyd Knibb and Carlton Barrett and the gear that these Jamaican drummers would use when playing with icons such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Lee Perry and many more. Here is some more info on Gil: Los Angeles native, Gil Sharone, is highly regarded as one of the most versatile session and touring drummers in the world, who is known for his creativity, authenticity and strong pocket. He is a multiple-time industry award winner as a drummer, but will often wear other hats as a co-writer, producer, and an educator/clinician. Gil came to notoriety in the rock world as a former member of  The Dillinger Escape Plan, Puscifer, Marilyn Manson, Stolen Babies and Team Sleep. However, he is widely known as an expert in other genres. Reggae, ska and rocksteady were part of his earliest influences along with jazz, funk, hip hop and fusion. Gil has established himself in the Jamaican drumming styles, authoring an award winning DVD and book entitled Wicked Beats, after playing with legends Eek-A-Mouse, HR of Bad Brains, Dave Wakeling of The English Beat, Fishbone, Western Standard Time Ska Orchestra and more recently with Slightly Stoopid, Morgan Heritage, and his current reggae/dub outfit, Gil, Migs and Rog. Gil is also an active member of a genre bending music collective, Saudade, where you can hear his jazz fusion collaborations with jazz greats John Medeski, David Torn, Robert Thomas Jr., Dr. Know and Chuck Doom. Gil's work further extends into the film/television world, working with composers Tyler Bates and Paul Haslinger. His work can be heard in Deadpool 2, Guardians of The Galaxy 2, all three John Wick movies, The Punisher (Netflix), Kingdom and Stumptown. He has also contributed both as a player and co-writer on the DC Comics: Dark Nights Metal Soundtrack, and his most recent work can be heard in the musical score for the live action Cirque du Soleil show, R.U.N.

Greetings Glocal Citizens! This week's episode brings to mind a lot of "What nexts?" in the context of conflicts, wars across the globe. My guest has his mind on this as a matter of everyday practice. Makmid Kamara, a Sierra Leonean human rights leader, researcher and development communications practitioner has over 18years' experience working with national and international development and human rights organizations in Africa and the United Kingdom. He is the Director of the Africa Transitional Justice Legacy Fund (ATJLF) (https://atjlf.org) based in Accra, Ghana. Prior to joining the ATJLF, Makmid worked at the International Secretariat of Amnesty International (https://www.amnesty.org/en/) in London as Deputy Director of Global Issues and (Ag.) Head of the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ESCR) Team; and served as interim Country Director for Amnesty International Nigeria and West Africa Researcher. However, Badda Skat's journey in music began back in 2000 with a release of numerous tunes online. This eventually led to a collaboration between Jah Roots and Badda Skat which resulted in Badda's debut album GRASS ROOTS. This was later reproduced and remastered in the traditional "dub" format and released as GRASS DUBS. Both are currently available on all digital distribution outlets such as iTunes and Amazon, as well as online streaming outlets like Pandora and Spotify. Badda also recently released a completely self-produced EP entitled MI JACARANDA, which debuted in vinyl format.More than just a band though, Badda and his team of musicians strive to promote a conscious message in all of the music they perform. Taking their positions with high responsibility, The Badda Skat Band use their original songs to deliver insightful and inspiring lyrics that will leave the audience cheering for more. Already writing and recording new material, the Badda Skat Band has released a brand new EP titled High Grade Reggae, which is available for FREE download via baddaskat.com. Gaining the interest of fans around the US and abroad, Badda Skat has enjoyed opening for various international acts such as Protoje, Kybaka Pyramid, Jesse Royal, Iba Mahr, Collie Buddz, Yellowman, The Original Wailers, Eek-a-Mouse, Black Uhuru, Morgan Heritage, Julian Marley, Gyptian, 311, Less Than Jake, and Matisyahu.  In 2017, a nearly sold out crowd packed Jannus Live in St. Petersburg for a reggae show with 4 international headliners, for which The Badda Skat Band was scheduled to open. Unfortunately, the headliners were unable to perform due to travel issues, but The Badda Skat Band went on to play for over 90 minutes! People are still talking about their show saving performance!
