Ja'Marr Chase walked into Football Ops this week on a mission. He wanted No. 7. It took him time to track down Coach O, who bounces around the building like a man on fire, but eventually, he found his head coach and asked for the jersey. "Alright," Coach O said, "let's do it." On today's show, we sit down with Ja'Marr to discuss why he wanted that number, what it means to him, and how he's working to set new goals after surpassing the many he set in 2019. "I look at 7 as a competitive number," Chase says. "I think 7 at LSU is like a challenge for people. There's a lot of things that goes on in the year when you have 7 on, a lot of critics, a lot of people, a lot of expectations from 7, and I want to have that challenge upon me." That's a mentality that's taken Chase to the top of college football, and it's the mentality that fuels his desire to go even higher, still. LSU lands Scott Linehan to replace Joe Brady as an offensive assistant and passing game coordinator. Not a hire I was expecting but I think Coach O deserves the benefit of the doubt after the amazing championship season. SEC dominates once again in recruiting classes. LSU lands at number 5 and TN Vols rank 9. Georgia lands the consensus top class but only time will tell. This of course, does not always translate to championships, esp with regard to Kirby Smart. Michigan State is left scrambling after the resigning of Mark Dantonio but convince Mel Tucker to come over from Colorado. Dominoes fall and now Colorado is left having to poach some coach from some other program. We dive into what the early returns are on XFL action and review the differences between this league and the NFL's game. I definitely like the kickoffs, which reduce high impact collisions but still maintain some excitement. Taysom Hill expresses belief that he can be a franchise QB. It will be interesting to see what tender the Saints place on the restricted free agent. Jameis Winston has eye surgery. Will this reduce his turnovers? Was he issued an ultimatum by the Bucs? Jags will play 2 home games in London in 2020. Antonio Gates, Eric Weddle, and Vernon Davis are added to the list of players retiring in the NFL. Is Zach Thomas, long time MLB with the Phins being snubbed? When will he get in if ever? He has posted numbers in similar ball park with Brian Urlacher and Derrick Brooks.

INSIDER: Kellen Moore, Doug Nussmeier & Cowboys OC dilemma For the second consecutive season, the Dallas Cowboys are undergoing significant coaching changes. Things are different this time around though, considering one calendar year ago it was the team empowering offensive coordinator Scott Linehan to completely mold the offense into his brainchild. That decision led to the hiring of offensive line coach Paul Alexander after firing longtime the incumbent Frank Pollack, in a swap that put the engineer of the best front five in football out to pasture for a far less successful implant from the Cincinnati Bengals, and with blatant disregard for how the installation of a new scheme would impact already established players like All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith and right tackle La'El Collins. Seven games into the season, Alexander was fired, and assistant OL coach Marc Colombo was given the job. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Jonas Knox explains why a Rams Chiefs match up in the Super Bowl is ideal for the NFL because it is the future of football that could get new people interest in the game. Jonas says that the firing of Scott Linehan by the Dallas Cowboys shows that the team still doesn’t know what kind of quarterback they have in Dak Prescott and that the team’s next offensive coordinator could make Dak a lot of money. Jonas thinks that the return of DeMarcus Cousins to the Golden State Warriors will be a breath of fresh air for the team. Jonas explains how the Patriots calling themselves an underdog is correct and their continued success should be celebrated not hated.
