The Cork hurlers secured only their second league win at Nowlan Park since 1987 after an impressive showing in desperate conditions.In what was arguably the Rebels' most impressive performance and result this spring, they returned from a mid-league game with the right attitude and a serious goal threat. The three green flags raised by Brian Hayes and rookies Barry Walsh and Alan Walsh (no relation!) were decisive and Cork could afford a missed penalty by Alan Connoly and another handful of chances wasted.The new faces included goalkeeper Paudie O'Sullivan and Hugh O'Connor, in his first start, but the likes of Seán O'Donoghue, Tim O'Mahony, Ciarán Joyce and Tommy O'Connell were powerful in an arm-wrestle on Noreside.Cork were short a host of regulars, including Shane Barrett, Seamus Harnedy, Diarmuid Healy, Mark Coleman, Declan Dalton and Rob Downey, but competition for places is clearly starting to intensify.They're off to Limerick on Saturday night but the chances are the rivals will collide in the league final and before their April Munster championship showdown at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Don't expect either side to give too much away next weekend at the Gaelic Grounds!Unfortunately, the footballers' trip to Derry ended in a disastrous 20-point hammering. It means Cork, Meath and Derry are now deadlocked in the Divison 1 promotion race but the Rebels' scoring difference is far worse.If they beat Kildare and Tyrone in the last two games they could still go up but it's all to play for again now. We look at what went wrong in Celtic. At least they have a warm-weather training camp to reset before they return to action at Páirc Uí Rinn.Thankfully, the ladies footballers kept their league final drive on track with a one-point win over Waterford. The 2024-25 Northeast Conference Player of the Year, Jordan Jones joins this week's episode of ​⁠Not Even D2. The Florence, South Carolina native recently signed an overseas contract to play in the Slovenska Basketball League (SBL) in Slovakia. After a great college career playing at multiple levels, Jones now has set his aspirations to one day play at the highest level of basketball. Jones committed to Coker University (D2) out of high school. The 6'0 guard would spend three seasons playing at the Divison 2 level before Coach Sellers and Central Connecticut State began recruiting the All-SAC player. Jones with two years of eligibility left, committed to CCSU on his first official visit. Year 1 with the Blue Devils started with Jones coming off of the bench. Later that year, Jones became one of CCSU's best players and an all-conference player as a top 10 NEC scorer. Transitioning to year 2, Jones took a big leap in most statistical categories while leading his team in points and assists. He was a finalist for the Lou Henson Mid-Major Player of the Year award and was awarded the NEC Player of the Year. Jones finished his career with over 1,500 points and just under 500 assists. This episode gets into a great conversation with Jones about his future within basketball, what Coach Sellers has done to make CCSU a top team in the NEC, and the honor he holds of being awarded NEC Player of the Year. Octavio Brito, two time Divison 3 All-American joins this week's episode of @Notevend2 . Brito is a Rhode Island native and has dominated the LEC during his time at Keene State. After winning the LEC Rookie of the Year in the 2021-22 season, Brito finished his sophomore and junior seasons as an All-American. During his team at KSC, Octavio has won the LEC championship every year. Brito is closing in on the all-time Keene State scoring record and one of few to ever be a 3x All-American. Now in his final year playing for the Owls, the senior is playing at his highest level. Octavio is averaging 22.9 points per game (11th in the country) while leading Keene State to another #1 seed heading into the conference playoffs. KSC has been nationally ranked in the top 25 for most of the year and will be on every teams radar going into the NCAA tournament.
