Original broadcast date July 28, 2016. The original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2016/07/binary-system-podcast-46-sdcc-2016-debrief/ Elizabeth's back from San Diego Comic-Con and Kathryn's had a cold kicking her butt for a week so we're both brain dead and rambling. That's the kind of podcast we like best. (No one who knows us is surprised.) Listen in as we debrief on Nerdigras (Nerd Mecca if you will) and spaz out about Civil War II, Dave McKean, Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Doctor Strange, Moffat, and more.
Andrew went to SDCC 2016, here's his report from the con. Also featuring Adam from geekscape.net!

Matty P Radio Presents: Marks v. Pros & Saturday Morning Cereal
Meanwhile on Saturday Morning Cereal...Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week we look to that moment when you're talking with your buddy about that episode of that show or that scene in that movie and you're all excited and your heart starts pounding and then you...can’t remember the name of that one guy who's in it! So begins the “That One Guy” dance (cue the music). We at SMC now make right what once went wrong by putting a name to that face - or. in this case, to that voice. Today, Phil LaMarr (Pulp Fiction, MadTV) is “That One Guy”, the one behind some of animation’s best loved characters including superheroes Green Lantern & Black Vulcan, Star Wars’ Kit Fisto & Bail Organa, Futurama’s Hermes, Mr. T’s Woody, King of The Hill’s Booda Sack, Transformers’ Jazz & Jetstorm, Family Guy’s Ollie Williams, Metal Gear Sold’s Vamp... hell, Phil LaMarr’s even been a TMNT, an Earth King & an Afro Samurai, but w/that very long list of IMDB credits (369 and counting) we celebrate what many consider his greatest work: the return of SAMURAI JACK! Premiere March 11,11pm [adult swim] That’s right, Jack is back & we have a spoiler free preview just in time for the first new season in over a decade! Our Samurai Jack coverage includes an exclusive interview with the man himself plus our roundtable conversation w/creator Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter Lab, Star Wars Clone Wars, Samurai Jack) recorded at SDCC2016. This is a celebration that spans time & space! Hosted by Grim Shea, Marke, & Johnny Heck NSFW

San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) has become a media feeding frenzy! In addition to the rise of “geek culture” in “mainstream” culture there are plenty of large media events! In this episode we cover some of the bigger trailers and major media events that went on there!

Alex goes on the road at SDCC 2016 with Maggie Herman, assistant to the Executive Producer/Line Producer on the Amazon series Bosch, to discuss every TV writer's favorite topic: budgeting. How much does an hour of television cost? And how do scripts get broken down into money? It's a double Paper Team first, as we welcome our very first guest-star, and have our very first "On the Road" episode while Alex drives up from San Diego Comic-Con 2016 with Maggie (and another surprise guest). What is the real cost of an hour of TV? What is the process of breaking scripts into producible selection of scenes? Why would anyone want to become a line producer? What was Maggie's favorite cosplay of the con? All these questions and many more are answered in this special edition of Paper Team. NOTE: I (Alex) recorded this podcast while literally on the road (riding shotgun in Maggie's car). There should be minimal background noise after the post-production work done since I fixed it in post--but just in case, prepare your ears. SHOWNOTES Content 1 - How was Comic-Con 2016?
