We're diving into Day 3 of our epic Disneyland adventure—and this one's all about next-level snacks, classic attractions, and one magical nightcap. We kick things off over at Disney California Adventure with an Impossible™ Breakfast Sha-Warm-Up from Shawarma Palace (plant-based goodness wrapped in flavor), plus a super cool Captain America Shield Sipper. The morning rides include a hot take on Mission: BREAKOUT!—featuring “Give Up the Funk”—and WEB SLINGERS, followed by some Disney classic ride charm with The Little Mermaid and Toy Story Midway Mania. Then it's snack time, and we don't hold back! We cover everything from Baja Breeze seltzers and all-beef hot dogs to standout festival eats like Smoked Hawaiian Pizza, Dole Whip Cheesecake, Garlic Cream Cheese Bread, and a Watermelon Cucumber Mojito. We also dig into lemon pepper wings, birria mac & cheese, and the creative California Wine Cocktail. And of course, we couldn't skip the Mickey-shaped SNICKERS macaron. From there, it's off to Toontown for Runaway Railway, and a quick bite from Maurice's Treats before taking a well-earned break. Then Rhonda and I jump into a classic attraction tour: Adventureland Treehouse, Haunted Mansion, Pinocchio, Snow White, Storybook Land Canal Boats, and Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin.Later, we unwind with drinks at the Broken Spell Lounge and then head to the Craftsman Bar for an unforgettable setting and experience including a inventive mocktails, Sticky Chicken Wings, and a the Charcuterie Pizza. We finish the night with Alice, Mad Tea Party, fireworks viewed from Galaxy's Edge, drinks at Oga's Cantina, a thrilling ride on Big Thunder, the always-amazing Fantasmic!, and Pirates of the Caribbean. This was one packed day—and we're breaking it all down, one bite, ride, and story at a time. We're excited to introduce Balanced Weather — your go-to source for smart, reliable weather updates tailored for Walt Disney World and all of Central Florida.CEO Alan Gerard, a meteorologist and lifelong Disney fan, has been providing weekly weather reports to the Main Street Magic community for years and will now be bringing you weekly forecasts, plus answers to your questions about weather for your upcoming Disney, Universal, or Florida vacation.Visit balancedweather.com/wdw-weather to learn more and get the latest updates.MEI-Travel – Expertise. Use coupon code DLWEEKLY to get the discount. News: We have some Tomorrowland news! However, it isn't as exciting as it sounds. Disney Vacation Club members will have a new lounge in Disneyland. Star View Station will have a mid-century space theme and have areas for seating, device charging, free wi-fi and more. It will be located on the second floor of what is now the Star Wars Launch Bay. This points to the liklihood that a Tomorrowland renovation, if there was one, would not include knocking down this building. – https://www.micechat.com/331420-disneyland-news-fancy-new-dvc-lounge-headed-to-tomorrowland-next-year/ Magic Keyholders have some additional discounts available from September 21st through October 14th. At certain locations around the resort, the merchadise discount has been increased to 30%. For a full list of locations where the higher discount is available, visit Disneyland.com, or the link in our show notes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/09/01/special-discount-announced-for-magic-key-holders-in-disneyland/ As we reported on previously, some areas around the resort are transitioning to terf and moving away from water-hungry natural grass. Two highly visible areas were just converted and look pretty good. The Haunted Mansion, which just returned in it's holiday form had it's grass replaced, and arguably the most visible grass around the floral Mickey in front of the train station on Main Street has also transitioned to the new terf. – https://www.ocregister.com/2022/09/01/disneyland-rolls-out-the-green-carpet-with-more-artificial-turf-around-the-park/ With the return of Halloween Time at Disneyland, the monsters are taking over Mission Breakout once again. Guardians of the Galaxy: Monsters After Dark is back this year. For those of you who may not know, after 4pm the attraction is taken over by monsters and becomes a little more scary and thrilling. – https://www.micechat.com/324041-disneyland-halloween-time-and-oogie-boogie-bash-guide-2022/ Somehow we had completely passed over what the gingerbread house design was going to be this year in the Haunted Mansion Holiday! This year's design features Lock, Shock, and Barrel, the mistivious trick-or-treaters from Nightmare Before Christmas using a guillatine to cut some cake. – https://www.instagram.com/p/CiDKnZlNREn/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Something new this year for Halloween is the Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade. The cavalcade features a lot of characters, with heroes and villains represented, in their Halloween costumes as they go trick-or-treating down the parade route. – https://www.micechat.com/331802-disneyland-news-photo-update-everybody-scream/ The villains are really throwing quite a dance party in Tomorrowland each evening. From 7-11pm each night, a DJ will play some spooky tunes while dancers, villains, and guests dance the night away. There is a break from 9:15-10pm during the fireworks to be aware of. – https://www.micechat.com/331802-disneyland-news-photo-update-everybody-scream/ One of the most fun and unique things about getting photos from PhotoPass photographers is the magic shots available. For the Oogie Boogie Bash, there are two new options. The first is Zero, Jack Skellington's ghost dog, and the other is Oogie Boogie himself as a shadow over the full moon. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/09/06/these-exclusive-disney-magic-shots-are-positively-ghostly/ As with most holidays celebrated at the resort, there is more new collectibles available for Halloween Time. First up is a new Mickey Pumpkin Globe Sipper, which features the pumpkin Mickey like on Main Street. The globe sipper is available at various quick service locations for $20.79. Fans of Coco and specifically Dante will want to pick up the straw clip that features the colorful dog at Cochina Cucamonga in Disney California Adventure for $7.99. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2022/09/05/disneys-new-halloween-collectible-is-a-cup-and-a-snow-globe/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/09/dante-from-coco-straw-clip-now-available-at-disney-california-adventure/ Discussion Topic: D23 Expo – https://d23expo.com/D23Expo_2022_Event_Guide_Map.pdf Oogie Boogie Bash – https://dlnewstoday.com/2022/09/first-look-at-the-2022-oogie-boogie-bash-guide-map-and-trick-or-treat-bags-at-disney-california-adventure/ Halloween Time – https://www.micechat.com/331802-disneyland-news-photo-update-everybody-scream/

This week in Disney News, Justin Bartha will be reprising his role as Riley Poole on the National Treasure show on Disney+. The Tarzan Treehouse over in Disneyland is getting rethemed, and we have a theory of what that theme will be! You can be part of the Mural of Memories on Cinderella Castle for the incredibly low price of $9.99, but is it really worth it? And what is it? Finally, in the most exciting news of the week, the song list for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind was released. Just like Mission Breakout, there are several songs you can get during your ride experience, making each ride unique (until you've had all 6). Jeff Bezos. Richard Branson. Joe and Angela. News: After 412 days, Disneyland is finally open to guests again. Resort President Ken Potrock has been in the job since May, and until this week, has not presided over a fully opened resort. In an interview, he stated that the reopening symbolizes hope and optimism. 15,000 cast members have been brought back from furlough, almost half of the amount of cast members at the resort prior to the closure. – https://www.ocregister.com/2021/05/01/disneyland-president-says-reopening-symbolizes-hope-and-optimism-after-yearlong-closure/ Snow White’s Enchanted Wish is open and ready to wow guests. As you ride your mine cart through a happier version of the story, you’ll enjoy updated animatronics, lighting, projections and music. The attraction is facing some backlash for adding in the scene where her prince kisses her to awaken her from her slumber. – https://www.micechat.com/288029-first-look-a-ride-on-disneylands-reimagined-snow-white-attraction/ The 999 residents have finished their home renovations and are ready to invite you… as long as you hurry back with your death certificate. The Haunted Mansion includes an updated pet cemetery, a redecorated portrait room, and several technical improvements throughout the attraction. – https://www.micechat.com/287447-disneylands-haunted-mansion-gets-spirited-updates/ While we’re used to long lines at the Disney Parks, the length of the queues could be quite shocking as social distancing is still enforced. That means queues for several attractions are spilling out into normal walkways. Micechat specifically noted New Orleans Square being noticeable, with both Pirates and Haunted Mansion having tight indoor queues that have to be spread out. Also, be mindful of what this means for the end of the night on Main Street. – https://www.micechat.com/288064-disneyland-is-back-new-magic/ Guests that have returned to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge may have noticed some socially distanced changes. The shopping market now has limited capacity to allow for social distancing. Throughout the land, the spots for guests to stand on are also themed appropriately to the land. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/04/photos-black-spire-outpost-market-in-star-wars-galaxys-edge-reopens-with-limited-capacity-themed-physical-distancing-markers-at-disneyland/ Guests can expect simple menus when they return to the parks. Some restaurants have only a few options, for example Micechat shared an image of the Plaza Inn menu board that only had the chicken entree and two kids meals. Guests are also being highly encouraged to use mobile ordering, as staffing at cash registers will be limited, meaning longer wait times for traditional ordering. It’s expected most food will continue to go out in disposable containers. – https://www.micechat.com/288064-disneyland-is-back-new-magic/ It’s been quite the challenge to get character meet and greets right with the health and safety protocols. It seems Disney is being more intentional with the locations to help guests have a better chance for interaction and pictures. – https://www.micechat.com/288064-disneyland-is-back-new-magic/ Guardians of the Galaxy, Mission Breakout will finally be home when Avengers Campus opens on June 4th. Ahead of the new land, there’s a new gateway installed just past the Hyperion Theatre and a Terran Treats stand is in place — Terran referring to a description of Humans from Earth used in the films. A few other aesthetic changes have also been made, including lights, some iridescent goo on the pavement and nods to other Avengers. – https://www.micechat.com/288064-disneyland-is-back-new-magic/ Water is quite the precious commodity on this planet — it seems even more so in California. Some cast members figured out how to save about 450-thousand gallons of water every year between the U.S. Theme Parks. Outdoor food carts will take their melted ice at the end of the day and share it with Custodial Teams to wash down areas of the resort — and create some water art during the day. We’ll share a link to the Disney-Produced video on the topic in our show notes. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/04/field-notes-disneyland-resort-cast-members-discover-a-way-to-conserve-water/ The Downtown Disney Mural honoring the late Chadwick Boseman, titled “King Chad” has found a permanent home. Anyone wanting to see this can find it at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, thanks to the generous donation by concept artist and former Disney Imagineer Nikkolas Smith. Smith has long been an advocate for Disney’s children’s hospital initiative. About the donation, he said “I know it will inspire patients going through treatments and serve as a reminder of not only Chadwick’s heart, but also his relatable struggle with cancer. To see my art getting to live on at such a special place where it can bring hope to others – it is truly one of the greatest gifts I could receive.” – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/04/king-chad-artwork-finds-permanent-home-at-childrens-hospital-of-los-angeles/ The marketing push to announce that the parks have reopened, with the moniker “The Magic is Back” has also allowed for some more treats in the parks. The Magic is Back cupcake is Double Chocolate Chip Cupcake filled with Cookies and Cream Mousse and topped with Yellow and Red Raspberry Cream Cheese Frosting, sprinkles, and Chocolate Mickey Ears. It is $6.99 and available at the Jolly Holiday Bakery. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/05/01/review-did-we-just-find-the-holy-grail-of-chocolate-snacks-at-disneyland/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/04/review-new-birthday-cake-celebration-churro-is-a-sweet-way-to-mark-the-reopening-of-disneyland/ and https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/05/review-strawberry-cheesecake-churro-disappoints-at-disney-california-adventure/ The Disney Food Blog found a collection of sippers and straws across the park. There’s a new Toy Story sipper shaped like an LGM, the Purple Poison Apple stein — typically popular around Halloween — is back, and a Mickey and Minnie Straw Clip featuring the duo with light blue clothing. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/05/02/is-it-halloween-already-heres-where-to-find-disneys-purple-poison-apple-stein-now/ Next month is pride month and Disney has shown off the merchandise that is going to be part of the celebration. Fans, masks, shirts, cell phone cases and more will be available. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/gear-up-for-pride-month-with-a-colorful-array-of-disney-pride-products/ On the other coast, Disney World is bringing back the Disney College Program this summer. It’s definitely a move to help fill the ranks of needed cast members for operations. They’re starting by inviting participants from the 2020 program first, then moving on to other applicants. It even includes a new housing community specifically for the program. – https://www.micechat.com/289062-breaking-the-walt-disney-world-college-program-is-back/ Your immersive trip to a galaxy far, far away could start as early as next year aboard The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. More information about the two-night experience is slowly trickling out, but the big hype revealed this week was the newest lightsaber that you’ll get to see first hand at your stay. It’s hard to put into words just how real this once thought to be movie magic problem is becoming. You’ll have to see it to believe it. – https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2021/05/star-wars-galactic-starcruiser-launches-in-2022-at-walt-disney-world-resort/ It’s Revenge of the 5th as this episode is released, and just in time, MiceChat is offering some Star Wars copycat recipes. You can try your hand at a Ronto Wrap or the Millennium Falcon Soft Serve Sundae. And we’ve actually tried a copycat Ronto Wrap before that turned out amazing — patrons can find a video of our kitchen adventure last year. – https://www.micechat.com/289171-the-force-is-strong-with-these-copycat-disney-parks-star-wars-eats/ Another Disneyland attraction is coming to a tabletop near you! This time, there’s an ‘it’s a small world’ board game available on shopDisney. We’ve really enjoyed the adaptation of the Jungle Cruise, so this is exciting for our households! The game, developed by Funko Games, has players traveling the rivers to collect picture cards. It’s definitely targeted for younger audiences. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/05/photos-new-its-a-small-world-funko-board-game-released/ Discussion Topic: Thomson – The Apartment Above the Firehouse Podcast – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc1lv5CrZXsSWVBRQct9ROg and https://anchor.fm/your-host-the-young-correspondent/episodes/Author-Ridely-Pearson-e1042qc

News: Arriving early seems to be the best bet when it comes to Touch of Disney. For those folks staying at a hotel on Harbor, the access is easier and you can arrive to Downtown Disney earlier than the 11:30am Mickey and Friends crowds. For locals, there is also the option to park at the Anaheim Hotel for $10 and walk over. The crowds do pick up in the afternoon and early evening, so getting in and ordering some food right away is a good idea. Avoiding food and checking out the characters and photo ops in the afternoon when it is busiest is the best idea. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/03/18/what-does-a-sold-out-a-touch-of-disney-crowd-look-like-at-disneyland/ Touch of Disney hasn’t been all sunshine and churros. Guests online and even in our community, reported some hiccups with the opening weekend of the event. Guests arriving to Mickey and Friends at 11:30 when the garage opened, then had to walk the tram route, which resulted in getting the the gates after the noon start time. Entrance was slowed down due to having to scan the ticket, take guests photos, then scanning the $25 food gift card to enter. Mobile ordering is highly encouraged, but also had long waits for food once ordered, that in some cases, was faster to stand in line and order at the booth instead. – https://www.mouseplanet.com/12893/Disneyland_Resort_Update_for_March_22__28_2021 Something interesting popped up online this week with guests being able to see different angles into Avenger’s Campus with Touch of Disney going on. It appears that the Web Slingers attraction has a part of the track outside on the roof! We looked at some aerial photos to see if we could 100% confirm this, but there wasn’t a good angle to do so. There is a piece of concept art that has Mission Breakout in the background, so it could show proof of this. We were under the impression that the stunt show would be in this area, so we will see when the land and this attraction officially open to the public. – https://www.micechat.com/285785-disneyland-gets-ready-to-reopen-as-california-adventures-food-festival-kicks-off/ Attendees of the Touch of Disney event are able to look into Avenger’s Campus and see one of the decorative highlights of the new area – the Quinjet! It is parked on top of the location of the possible future location of the phase 2 big Avenger’s e-ticket attraction. – https://www.micechat.com/285785-disneyland-gets-ready-to-reopen-as-california-adventures-food-festival-kicks-off/ Guests were greeted with some unexpected refurbishments going on within California Adventure at the start of the Touch of Disney event. The rotunda for Ariel’s Undersea Adventure is behind scaffolding and being painted, as well as quite a bit of work around Pacifc Wharf, specifically the Cocina Cucamounga. – https://www.micechat.com/285785-disneyland-gets-ready-to-reopen-as-california-adventures-food-festival-kicks-off/ One amazing thing that has returned with the Touch of Disney event are the PhotoPass photographers! There are a number of locations that have been setup to take advantage of their return. There are also some locations that are setup without PhotoPass photographers that are just plain fun! There is a Mickey mural on the side of the D-Lish booth, a D23 Mickey Hands mural near Ghiradelli, butterfly wings by Paradise Garden, and more. For a complete list, check out the link in the show notes. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/03/20/heres-every-photo-op-at-disney-california-adventures-new-event/ During the Touch of Disney event, the games of Pixar Pier are open for guests to enjoy. Dividers have been installed between the seats and cast members are cleaning and sanitizing between each game. The games were free to play during the event, but it is unclear if it will remain that way. – https://www.laughingplace.com/w/news/2021/03/19/games-of-the-pixar-pier-operating-during-touch-of-disney-event-at-disney-california-adventure/ Legacy Passholders have a few places to pick up some nice swag at Touch of Disney. Over in Paradise Gardens, there is an AP corner with a photo op for the 20th anniversary of DCA, along with a Legacy Passholder magnet and button. The 65th Anniversary of Disneyland AP magnet is also still available at most merchandise locations, just be sure to ask. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/03/18/photos-check-out-the-exclusive-items-legacy-passholders-can-snag-in-disneyland/ More details have been trickling out about the new storyline and themeing for the World Famous Jungle Cruise this past week. The new story will center around Alberta Falls, the granddaughter of famed explorer Albert Falls, and is now the proprietor of the Jungle Navigation Company who operates the Jungle Cruise. In what might be a surprise to some, the satisfaction ratings are above where they were before the pandemic. This could be caused by the lower attendace levels, which makes for a more pleasant experience, the precautions Disney has taken to keep everyone safe, or just that people are happy to be out of the house doing anything. He also stated that the parks will continue to be more magical when more guests return. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2021/03/disney-ceo-bob-chapek-states-guest-satisfaction-at-parks-is-higher-now-compared-to-pre-pandemic/ Bob Iger was interviewed for the SiriusXM business show Leadership Matters. Hello and welcome to the Enchanted Ears Podcast, one of your top 100 favorite places to get the latest Disney News and hear two amateurs talk about anything and everything Disney. This week in Disney News, Joe Rhode, the ultra-accomplished imaginer behind basically the entirety of Animal Kingdom, Mission Breakout, and Aulani announced that after 40 years with the company, he plans to retire in January. We wish him nothing but the best! Also, Disney started doing random pyrotechnics in Magic Kingdom to go with the projection mapping on the castle that are set to end on January 1. Is that when the shows will come back? Maybe. This week, we are happy to welcome Becky Ginther back to the show. As you may recall from Episode 99, where we interviewed her about her RunDisney experiences, Becky is the genius behind the Disney In Your Day blog. This time, we discuss travel agents. What do they do? When should you use them? How much do they cost? We also talk about Becky’s latest trip to Disney. Did she feel safe? What kinds of precautions is Disney taking to prevent the spread? What are the best items at EPCOT right now? We’d love to extend a huge thank you again to Becky for coming back to the show. If you’re interested in having Becky plan a trip for you, email her at beckyg@castledreamstravel.com and let her know Enchanted Ears sent ya! Have a magical week! News: Downtown Disney re-opened this week and one of our supporters, Liberty, took over our Instagram for the day to cover the occasion. Guests lined up outside the gates of the resort on opening day and crowds were pretty heavy. Once the gates opened, some of the stores like World of Disney and the Disney Dress Shop had a virtual queue system setup for access and to keep numbers of guests inside as socially distant as possible. Initially, crowds made it difficult for distancing inside of World of Disney and eBay resellers were quick to pick up as much of the new 65th anniversary merchandise as possible. On day 2, things were much more manageable and went smoothly. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/07/photo-report-downtown-disney-district-7-9-20-grand-reopening-social-distancing-temperature-screenings-and-more/ and https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/07/09/photos-first-look-at-a-reopened-downtown-disney-at-disneyland-resort/ What is different now that Downtown Disney has reopened? First, mobile wait lists that allow guests to provide their name and phone number and will receive a text message when they are able to enter. New product launches are also not coming to the resort and will instead be available online through merchandise events or shopDisney. This includes monthly releases and limited-edition merchandise. Dressing rooms are also not available. Returns and exchanges will be accepted at DIsney-owned locations, but could vary with 3rd party vendors. – https://www.micechat.com/263030-downtown-disney-whats-open-and-whats-still-closed/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/experience-updates/downtown-disney/ Finally, what is open at Downtown Disney? (See list at Disney link) – https://www.micechat.com/263030-downtown-disney-whats-open-and-whats-still-closed/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/experience-updates/downtown-disney/ As we reported on last week, parking for Downtown Disney is limited to the Simba lot, behind the Paradise Pier Hotel. The large parking garages, including Mickey and Friends and the Pixar Pals lot are not available. Parking is free for the moment, and doesn’t open until the posted time at the lot, which is currently 10am. – https://www.micechat.com/263030-downtown-disney-whats-open-and-whats-still-closed/ and https://disneyland.disney.go.com/experience-updates/downtown-disney/ The Walt Disney Family Museum has announced a day of special events to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Disneyland on July 17th. The “Virtual Community Day” will be on July 17th from noon to 5pm pacific time and will be open to the public. No registration will be required. Guests will include Camille Dixon and Bill Rogers, the voices of Disneyland and Disney California Adventure. Legend Rolly Crump’s son, former Imagineer Chris Crump will also be present. The presentation will also include some home videos of Disneyland’s opening day. – https://www.micechat.com/263579-virtual-disneyland-65th-anniversary/ The Orange County Register spoke with TouringPlans about how many people Disneyland would actually be allowing into the parks when they do reopen. Based on the numbers from Shanghai and Walt Disney World Parks and data collected by TouringPlans, the estimate is about 10% of capacity, or about 8,500 guests, or 20% of the average daily attendance at Disneyland Park alone. DCA would have 5,000 guests, or about 18% of the daily count. – https://www.ocregister.com/2020/07/14/how-many-people-will-disneyland-admit-with-reduced-capacity/ A statement was sent out to Disneyland and Disney World APs, giving passholders an update on the extensions Disney had promised back when the parks closed back in March. Walt Disney World APs will receive a 30 day extension to their passes. Disneyland Annual Passholders ware now being told that their extension would appear on their accounts 6 to 8 weeks after the parks reopen. The statement also noted that Disneyland will have park reservation rules and limited availability for its theme parks. Disneylay APs were originally told that their passes would be extended the number of days that the parks were closed but we have not her a definitive answer from Disney recently. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/07/14/disneyland-annual-passholders-to-receive-an-automatic-extension-on-passes-after-the-parks-reopen/ In a story that has been quiet for some time now, FuelRod has made some changes to it’s policy on free swaps. For guests that purchased FuelRods before October 26, 2019 can fill out a questionnaire online that could give them access to free lifetime swaps. After verification, an account must be created and the FuelRod app will need to be installed on their mobile phone for the free swaps to work. Swaps are still listed as free for everyone in Walt Disney World and Disneyland for the time being, but is an additional fee elsewhere. – https://dlnewstoday.com/2020/07/fuelrod-announces-new-founders-program-for-free-unlimited-swaps-at-any-kiosk-to-resolve-litigation/ Twitter user @bioreconstruct, who is known for posting aerial photos of Florida area attractions, posted aerial photos of the Disneyland Resort this week showing some progress on projects around the resort. Not a lot to see with the plot backstage for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, but over at Avenger’s Campus, there is some work being completed. The exterior of the Spider-Man attraction is almost complete, the Ant-Man microbrewery is also continuing construction. Again, the Quinjet is visible still backstage and covered at the moment. An interesting note: the side of Mission Breakout is being repainted to a blue-gray to better fit in with the new land. No word on how extensive this will be. – https://wdwnt.com/2020/07/photos-new-aerial-view-of-construction-for-mickey-and-minnies-runaway-railway-and-avengers-campus-at-disneyland-resort/ On July 17th, Disneyland will be turning 65, and for the first time in its history, it will not be open for this occasion. That hasn’t stopped any new merchandise coming out! There is quite a variety of items including a Mickey plush, a variety of shirts in all forms, socks, hats, a skirt, spirit jerseys and more. There was also a shopping event online for the merchandise. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/07/09/first-look-celebrate-65-years-of-magic-with-disneylands-new-anniversary-merchandise/ As of recording this episode, the online 65th anniversary merchandise still has a wait of approx 70,000 people but some of the coveted merchandise has already made its way on to Ebay and other re-selling sites. The Commemorative Coins for the anniversary were sold out 30 minutes into the event. They retailed for $150 and were limited to one per person. There were 1955 coins available for the event, after a quick search on Ebay, 77 are currently listed for sale and almost 10 coins have already been sold on Ebay. Prices for the coin range from $500 to $1200! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2020/07/14/did-you-see-how-much-disneylands-65th-anniversary-merchandise-is-now-being-resold-for-on-ebay/ Did DIsney World pick a bad time to reopen? That is the question that the Orange County Register is asking. I think we have been going back and forth on this ourselves. As much as we have wanted Disneyland to open, the rise in cases just doesn’t allow it to happen. Disney World did wait longer to open than its competitors in the state, but that seems like it hurt it more in this case as the COVID-19 cases have surged before they reopened. – https://www.ocregister.com/2020/07/14/disney-world-picked-a-bad-time-to-get-back-in-the-theme-park-business/ Disney has released even more of Main Street, USA and the Magic Happens Parade in the form of Disney Paper Parks. Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout opened at Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort in May 2017. While many thought the new attraction would be a simple retheming of Tower of Terror, which had lived at the park since 2004, Joe Rohde and his team of Walt Disney Imagineers thought about the new experience on a much deeper level, creating a ride that most Anaheim locals and even vacationing guests feel is an even greater experience than the park's version of Tower of Terror. As it turns out, the attraction would also be a proving ground for Avengers Campus, which would be announced for the park just a couple years later. In this episode, we'll discuss the history of Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout and the Tower of Terror that it replaced. I'll also share a binaural audio recording of the full ride experience. Where does Mission Breakout rank on your list of favorite attractions at Disney California Adventure? This week, we find out what the deal is with our sitcom-based theme park when we design some Seinfeld-based attractions! Turns out, it's a lot of yada, yada, yada Tower of Terror type of stuff. This is an episode about nothing, and it just might be our best episode ever. Remember, it's not a lie if you believe it.

In August of 2017, it was abounded that the attraction would have a special Halloween overlay called Guardians of the Galaxy - Monsters After Dark. The overlay debuted on September 15, 2017. 2. Guardians of the Galaxy - Monsters After Dark is unique in that the ride only switches over to the Halloween Overlay after sunset! So guests can ride two different versions of the attraction in one day! Mission Breakout in the morning and Monsters After Dark at night. It only takes about an hour of downtime to switch between the two. On October 31st, the attraction features Monsters After Dark all day. 3. The events in Monsters After Dark take place moments after the events seen in the regular ride. The Guardians of the Galaxy have escaped but Groot got left behind and it’s up to guests to help Rocket find him. If you need a refresher of the regular ride’s storyline, go back and listen to episode #32 of Attraction Checklist where we covered that ride. 4. The attraction also receives a new lobby video that is filled with scenes of The Collector’s employees trying to get the creatures who escaped in Mission Breakout back in their cages. There’s also a brief cameo by the Guardians of the Galaxy character Yondu who appears a a ghost roaming the halls! 5. Monsters After Dark also features a brand new song as you’re riding the attraction. The tune, called Monsters After Dark, was written by Tyler Bates who scored the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Let’s get set to ride Guardians of the Galaxy - Monsters After Dark. After the ride audio, I’ll give you my thoughts on this attraction and this is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we ride Guardians of the Galaxy - Monsters After Dark at Disney California Adventure. Ep174: Look at the lights! Our good friend Angela joined us this week to help with the co-hosting duties! We mentioned in the episode that she recently took a trip to the Walt Disney Family Museum for the first time. Check out her vlog below! Just Angela Marie Subscribe to Angela's YouTube channel! Just Angela Marie Follow Angela on Instagram! During the episode Angela talks about what she saw when the stage that was last used for the Mad Tea Party was used was broken down. She described something having to do with water. Did you remember or were you able to guess? The Mickey Mouse fountain was located in front of the Monsters, Inc. attraction. Do you remember seeing this? The Disney company is working on bringing new Marvel experiences to Disney California Adventure (or... should we just start calling it Disney's Adventure Park?). After all, Bob Chapek said so at the last D23 Expo. This might help explain why that Avengers hatch was put in place next to Mission: Breakout. Recently a new patent was awarded to the Disney company for a pendulum like ride system. In the patent itself, there is mentioned on swinging like :"...experience similar to what it would feel like to be with Tarzan or a similar character swinging between trees of a jungle on a vine or with Spider-Man or a similar character swinging on webs between buildings as you move down streets of a city..."Although it's unclear if that is a literal description of what the new ride system will be used for, we're excited to be getting a new thrill ride at DCA! Check out the images from the patent below: If you're interested in reading the patent for the new swinging mechanism, here is the link:TRACK-BASED SWING RIDE WITH LONG ARM PENDULUM Until next time, here is to beers, cheers and Mickey Ears! °o° ← Ep173: Beef cheeksEp175: You Porthole →[yuzo_related]

http://www.attractionchecklist.com - It's time to experience the Marvel Universe in the Disney Parks as we explore Disney California Adventure's Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! First we'll learn a bit about the ride and then join Rocket Raccoon to help the Guardians of the Galaxy escape The Collector's fortress. Recorded on June 27, 2017. The attraction audio recorded for this episode is available exclusively to the Saturday Morning Media Patron Patron. Support the show and get fun Bonus content over at http://www.patreon.com/saturdaymorningmedia INTRO TRANSCRIPT: Welcome to Attraction Checklist. This episode we head to Disney California Adventure to experience Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! The guide map describes the attraction in the following manner: Join Rocket on a thrilling mission to rescue the Guardians of the Galaxy from The Collector’s fortress! Guests must be 40” or taller in order to ride this attraction and FastPasses are available. Before we head out on our rescue mission, here are five fast facts about Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission Breakout! 1. Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission Breakout! opened on May 27, 2017. The attraction is a, somewhat controversial, rethemeing of the park’s Twilight Zone Tower of Terror which opened on May 5, 2004 and closed January 3rd, 2017. Mission Breakout uses the same ride system as the previous attraction but the queue area and storyline of the ride has been completely changed. 2. Mission: Breakout is based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe film franchise, Guardians of the Galaxy and stars the original actors from the film. Though the attraction is somewhat linked to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the story and events of the attraction exist in their own, separate, universe called the Marvel Theme Park Universe. 3. Keeping with the original Tower of Terror, each ride on Mission: Breakout is unique thanks to computer randomization. Also, as guests experience the attraction, they will hear one of six random songs played from character Peter Quill’s walkman. The six song possibilities are "Give Up The Funk" by Parliament, "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf, "I Want You Back" by The Jackson 5, "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar, “Free Ride" by the Edgar Winter Group and “Burning Love” by Elvis Presley. 4. Throughout the queue area of the attraction there are several Disney Easter Eggs hidden here and there. These include: an invoice from X-S Tech the company behind the old Alien Encounter attraction, a tribute to Gonzo from The Muppets, and Dolores the octopus from the Country Bear Vacation Hoedown. There are also those who say if you look at the Collector’s collection hard enough, you may just spot Figment from Walt Disney World’s EPCOT! 5. In August 2017, it was announced that Mission: Breakout! would receive a halloween themed overlay after sunset during the halloween season at California Adventure. The new overlay is called Guardians of the Galaxy - Monsters After Dark. The ride features a brand new song called Monsters After Dark written by Tyler Bates, who’s scored the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Now let’s help Rocket Raccoon free the rest of the Guardians team! The line was extra long this day so there will be some edits in the audio so you don’t have to wait in real time. After the ride audio I’ll give you my thoughts on the attraction as you’ll be hearing my review moments after riding for the first time. Also, this is a binaural recording so if you have headphones, put them on now as we ride Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout!.
