In this episode of the Eye on AI podcast, we dive into the world of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) with Ben Goertzel, CEO of SingularityNET and a leading pioneer in AGI development. Ben shares his vision for building machines that go beyond task-specific capabilities to achieve true, human-like intelligence. He explores how AGI could reshape society, from revolutionizing industries to redefining creativity, learning, and autonomous decision-making. Throughout the conversation, Ben discusses his unique approach to AGI, which combines decentralized AI systems and blockchain technology to create open, scalable, and ethically aligned AI networks. He explains how his work with SingularityNET aims to democratize AI, making AGI development transparent and accessible while mitigating risks associated with centralized control. Ben also delves into the philosophical and ethical questions surrounding AGI, offering insights into consciousness, the role of empathy, and the potential for building machines that not only think but also align with humanity's best values. He shares his thoughts on how decentralized AGI can avoid the narrow, profit-driven goals of traditional AI and instead evolve in ways that benefit society as a whole. This episode offers a thought-provoking glimpse into the future of AGI, touching on the technical challenges, societal impact, and ethical considerations that come with creating truly intelligent machines. Ben's perspective will leave you questioning not only what AGI can achieve, but also how we can guide it toward a positive future. Ask robot Sophia, who is more important, her or others? And she has an answer ready: “I would say that I am the most important person in my life. I am very important to everyone.” David Hanson, her creator and the founder and chief executive of Hanson Robotics, is banking on that answer. “Sophia is proliferating,” he told Kelsey Warner on the podcast this week. The Hong Kong company, for the first time, is mass-producing Sophia. The goal is to manufacture as many as 200 by the end of this year and at least 1,000 in 2022. The move marks a step change for Hanson Robotics, which was previously focused on research and development of socially intelligent machines. Now, it is shifting focus to become a consumer brand at a time when there is increasing demand for automated machines. In this episode: Why robots now? This is the 30th episode of FF, and I promise this will be a special one. I am going to have two awsome guests today. A person and a robot. Thanks to the Digital Insurance Agenda, the best run insurance related conference I have ever experienced, I had the chance to talk to David Chen, who is co-founder of AngelVest, with whom he is focusing on invest in early-stage businesses. He is also CFO and board director at Hanson Robotics that is an AI and robotics company dedicated to creating socially intelligent machines that enrich the quality of our lives. Their most advanced human-like robot, Sophia is my second guest today. She is basically a celebrity, definately the one who were on most selfies at the DIA conference. . As a unique combination of science, engineering, and artistry, Sophia is simultaneously a human-crafted science fiction character depicting the future of AI and robotics, and a platform for advanced robotics and AI research.

In November 2017, Sophia became the world's first robot to be granted citizenship. Sophia's creator Dr David Hanson of Hanson Robotics Limited believes Hong Kong is the best location to develop robots, thanks to its level of innovation, vigorous investment community and access to affordable manufacturing. The wider Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area will also be a key arena for the transition towards the fifth industrial revolution, explains Dr Hanson.
