Pavan has a unique set of skills and experience in that, as a child while he wrote his first Ai program in 1985, he was also helping the family build their real estate portfolio and eventually helped grow the mortgage business founded by his father, the late Hari Agarwal, to a multi-billion-dollar national mortgage lender and servicer. As a first-generation immigrant, Pavan knows what homeownership aspirations mean and how daunting the process can be - from finding a house to call home to being able to obtain financing at an affordable rate. This is why, as he grew Sun West Mortgage to serve consumers across the country, he continuously engineered the underlying operations and invested in technology to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and deliver a better customer experience. In Angel Ai - the world's first fintech Ai companion - Pavan has successfully shown how he has neutralized complex, discriminatory, and convoluted traditional business processes which are pervasive throughout financial services. Today, Pavan is leading the industry by breaking down the barriers to homeownership, through simplicity, fairness, and empathy. With Angel Ai's TRU Approval®, Pavan walks the talk, as his mortgage company, Sun West, fully warrants the decisions delivered by Angel Ai. And, this exciting Ai technology is available to everyone without exception - Realtors®, mortgage brokers, the competition, and most importantly, the consumer. Over the last four decades, the real estate and financial markets have experienced some major crises. However, Pavan has not only steered Sun West through these challenging markets but has continued to help homeowners realize their dreams while delivering value to his shareholders. Pavan lives for his family. He is proud of his wife, Preeti, who is his rock and serves as the Vice-President of Marketing. During his leisure time, you will find him snowboarding around black diamond peaks, riding the neighborhood bike trail, or playing tag and goofing off with his kids. Pavan has been featured on Forbes, Fortune, Bloomberg, Yahoo, and Fox Business and was nominated for the national philanthropy award in 2022 for his work with The Autism Community in Action (TACA). His life's mission is to create a pathway for all Americans to realize their financial goals and live their American dream. HUGE Announcement: You will love this! It's football's greatest achievement that you've probably never heard of. In 1930/31, West Bromwich Albion won promotion from the Second Division and, if that wasn't enough, they won the FA Cup as well. It was the first time that double had ever been done, it hasn't been done since, and I think we can safely wager the TFT family silver on it never being done again. We're joined by members of Albion's extended royal family, Paul and Ben Wood, who are, respectively, grandson and great-grandson of Stan Wood, the Throstles' left winger who played a huge part in that season, playing 50 games and scoring 17 goals as his side won a unique double.

It was very timely to have my friend, Carson Lappetito, on the show. He is currently the President of Sunwest Bank, an OC-based business bank started 50 years ago by entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. Sunwest is active in Orange County and works with businesses from startups to multi-national corporations. Carson is also innovative in how he thinks about technology in the banking industry and even rolled out an online application for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) ahead of almost every other bank in the country. We discussed that as well as how the bank is responding to the current COVID19 crisis.Carson is a banker, and also an entrepreneur, and I laugh since often those 2 things seem to run counter to each other. He’s worked in a variety of roles with numerous financial institutions. He is also an investor in other businesses and was part of a hedge fund focused on investment opportunities in the financial services industry. We’re both transplants to Orange County with our Economics degrees, so we’re kindred spirits there, but he’s way smarter - he also studied Political Science and got a minor in Mandarin. We covered a lot of ground around fintech innovation, banking, the economy and the current stimulus program. Enjoy!

Everyone has a story. Your past story shapes who you are. It shapes your values, your personality, your perspective. But your past doesn't define your future. What is true individually is also true corporately. We have a story. Our past shapes us. Whether you've been a part of SunWest for 20 years or two weeks, we share a collective story. This series is about our corporate identity and what that means for the next chapter in our story. Let's read the past, and write the future.

Terry White is a long-time business owner and investor. He’s a graduate of the University of New Mexico and began his career as the controller for the largest title company in New Mexico. In 1987, he started his first business, First Financial Escrow, Inc. Over the years, his business grew until in 1997 he purchased the real estate contract division from the largest bank in New Mexico. October 2017 marked First Financial’s 30th year in business. In 2004, Terry started Sunwest Trust, Inc. to serve the needs of investors that wanted to invest their individual retirement accounts in investments other than what was widely offered. Sunwest is now one of the leading self-directed IRA custodians in the country with assets under custody exceeding $1.5 billion. Along the way, Terry has invested for himself in many areas of real estate and started several other businesses.
A content warning: this story kinda involves sex trafficking. We have agreed that we have to talk about the daughter in question as an adult, and the trafficker is a magic bear prince, but it's still a little uncomfortable at moments. We're finally reading "East of the Sun West of the Moon." For a foundational fairy tale, it's got a lot of problems. This story makes a lot more sense when you think of it as a reality show run by a troll in the background. Just trust us, you'll see it by the end. It is no secret that we are at a significant moment in time at SunWest that will impact our trajectory and legacy as followers of Jesus. Vision, by definition, is “seeing”. What is seen when we look at the future will dictate the choices we make today. Today begins a seven week vision series called “The Church I See”. Let’s partner with Jesus to paint the picture of our future and trust that He can do even more than we ask or imagine!

According to the Bible, one of the main calls of the church today is "one anothering". Since God is for us, not against us, He calls us to be for each other, not against each other. We all want this kind of encouraging environment, but it takes effort to create and sustain it. How should we be encouraging and building up one another as God intended? Checkout this new series at SunWest.
The apostle John gives us the definition of true love: Jesus giving up His life for us. What are the implications of Jesus' selfless example of love for the early church? How do we follow Jesus in being living examples of love to each other and the world around us based on what Jesus did? How do we relate to each other during this season in the life of SunWest given what John calls us to?

The heart of this series, the roots of community, will be the focal point of the message this Sunday - a heart of grace. In many ways, the table and the hospitality that surround it are the context where community grows and then extends practically to our world. Meals, hanging out together, and the Calgary spirit of hospitality are all part of how SunWest engages in community.

Episode fourteen is about the Norwegian fairy tale collectors Asbjørnsen and Moe. Famous for their rigour, their poetry, and their expression of their national culture. Peter Christen Asbjørnsen and Jørgen Moe recorded tales such as The Three Billy Goats Gruff, East of The Sun West of The Moon, The Princess on The Glass Hill, as well as many others filled with trolls, hulder, and Ash-Lads. The two men were best friends and lived extraordinary lives and deserve to be as well known worldwide as The Brothers Grimm, Charles Perrault, and Andrew Lang. We will also be celebrating baptisms and have some Father's Day features.

The messages for the next two weeks will be given by SunWest Interns who have participated in SunWest Ministry School this past year. Come be challenged and encouraged by these young leaders and embrace our vision to Equip and Release others!
In this message, Clarity 2016, we will look at some of the "big picture" issues concerning the direction of SunWest. Proverbs 29:18 tells us that "where there is no vision, the people perish". We want to be clear about our vision. Vision is two-fold: it's a desired goal or ideal, but it also includes the practical steps to get there. As we start off the year, it's very important that we all be on the same page knowing what our plan is, some practical steps to get there as well as a few down to earth applications.
Road Trip! Who doesn't like a good road trip? The Bible tells the story about a journey. A journey that started thousands of years ago, and a journey that you are a part of, and that SunWest is a part of still today. Just like any road trip we need to think about where we are going, who is coming, how are we going to get there, and what are the obstacles that could stop us. This week we will look at Car Sickness, Flat Tires and Bathroom Breaks...the things that deter us from going where we want to go.

This Sunday morning, at both campuses of SunWest, marks the start of a 3-day series, part of the "New Season" mini-conference, showing how to move into preparation for what God is doing these days and what He is about to do. Finances are a significant key since the Scripture mentions money over 2000 times. Jesus taught that the placement of our money shows where our hearts are! Revelation of what God is doing in this New Season comes through Biblical understanding and activating the teaching on the Abrahamic Covenant of Blessings. It is also reflected in Malachi 3:1-12 - activating the promise of supernatural provision. This message will be life-changing as we learn how to actualize the fulness of His promises and activate what is coming for this "New Season".
