Traveling without leaving home. A shamanic dreamer and author of over two dozen books, we speak today with Robert Moss in this special replay from April Fool's Day. Robert describes himself as a story teller who helps people find their story. He begins with the tale of what happened when he was pronounced dead at age 3 and about how dreaming is preparation for dying. We speak about the power of imagination and about the practice of living by synchronicity which he calls kairomancy. He urges us to remember to play. We explore a dream from Steve Popp of Santa Cruz in which his dad offers him a horse which ultimately turns into a deer, and a call from Elizabeth from Bellingham who asks about how to stimulate more dreams. She mentions a dream of her own about a blue horse. We also take a call from Beth Ann from the Central Valley who asks about how to find humor and playfulness around dark dreams. Synchronistically, she also mentions dreams about horses. BIO: Robert Moss has been a dream traveler since doctors pronounced him dead in a hospital in Tasmania when he was three years old. His School of Active Dreaming is a synthesis of modern dreamwork and ancient shamanic practices for journeying to realms beyond the physical. He leads adventures all over the world, including a three-year teacher training and popular online courses for the Shift Network. Would you let a bot interpret your dreams? Should you? We speak with Joanna of Blue Lotus Queendom about the pleasures and pitfalls of using AI with dreams. Also what is Yoga Nidra and how does it support Dreamwork. Joanna gives many suggestions about how to use AI with our dreams but that list does NOT include asking the AI what your dream means. She urges us to trust our inner knowing instead. This leads to a conversation about the ethics of telling someone else what their dream means. We switch to a discussion of yoga nidra. Joanna suggests that it can help us as dreamers in many ways including making us aware of different states of consciousness as well as possibly increasing dream recall We take a call from Kristen from Virginia who shares a dream about black demons attacking Robin Williams few days before he killed himself. We then take a call from Wendy from Monterey who shares a dream suggesting that we can to learn to cooperate to influence the outcome of the future. Synchronistically, as we explore abundance this month as our community intention, within our Yoga + Meditation Teacher Training here at Sacred Chill {West}, we are also discussing non-stealing. Non-stealing is one of the Yamas & Niyamas, which are essentially tenets of living a mindful life. Of course, non-stealing means exactly what you think it means on the surface, and, a little deeper, we discover that non-stealing has many meanings related to deeper discovery of self. As we think through what we might want to call in with more abundance, it can be very easy when we aren't clear {or when we aren't quite brave enough to name it, yet} to get lost in looking at what everyone else is striving for… The house, the car, the job, the family….  When we aren't steady and present inside, we steal from ourselves by claiming others' lives as our own. In today's Thanksgiving episode of The Mindful Minute, we discuss the ways in which we can invite ourselves into a steadier, clearer relationship within, and stay grounded within what our lives need more of regardless of what those around us are doing. I’m so excited to bring you this conversation with someone who has quite literally welcomed me into her home to learn, refresh, and connect with other women... accomplished entrepreneur, social justice advocate, sought after speaker, and a community builder at heart, Anne Devereux-Mills. Capping a 25-year career as one of the most influential women in the advertising industry, in 2012 Anne founded Parlay House, a now international salon-style gathering of over 4,000 women who meet to pull each other forward through a combination of shared experiences, meaningful content, and peer-to-peer connections.  In addition, alongside raising her two daughters as a single mother, becoming a sponsor to a young woman from Cambodia and then a stepmother to two stepsons,  Anne has achieved some remarkable things.  She’s been a mentor for SHE-CAN, an organization supporting and grooming the next generation of female world leaders coming from post-genocide countries, and served as the director of Stanford University's Healthy Body Image Programs. She was the Executive Director of The Return, an Emmy-nominated documentary about the experience of people returning to society post-incarceration. And she and her husband were the lead sponsors of California’s Proposition 36, which restored fairness in sentencing to the State’s excessive Three Strikes Law. At the heart of it all has been a deep abiding belief in authentic, non-transactional relationships, social justice, and the power of women to women connections. I felt Anne’s generosity, perspective, and wisdom throughout our conversation and found so many of the lessons Anne has learned resonating for me, from discerning where our presence is most needed with our children, to learning to release perfectionism.  Synchronistically, so many things I'm grappling with in my life, Anne shined light on in this conversation. I was reminded that small acts can have meaningful cascades of impact, that we can hold a vision for an epic life rooted in connection and what really matters, not in having it all exactly right or at exactly the same time. And I gained a heightened awareness and appreciation for “Inflection points,” those times in our lives when we’re called to change our course or as Anne says “the moment after what was but before what will be.”  I hope you’ll enjoy this conversation as much as I did and leave feeling more empowered to build authentic connections, stay patient during your “inflection points” and take your own first small acts toward meaningful impact.  Much appreciation, P.S. Check out the announcement below to join us for the #oneminutemommanifesto Challenge in the Facebook Group in honor of Mother's Day. P.S.S. Know someone who would love this conversation? This Episode is Dedicated by Julie Castro Abrams: Julie is the CEO and Chair of How Women Lead, a network of over 10,000 top executive women working together to disrupt the antiquated and unequal systems impacting women. In 2018 they successfully drove legislation requiring that California Public Companies to have up to 3 women on their boards. Through grants to women and girls organizations and a forthcoming disruptive angel fund, How Women Lead brings women together to have an impact and have fun. How Women Lead leverages its network to propel Women Leaders for the World: political and social justice leaders, as well as entrepreneurs who are courageously tackling our most important global issues through a year-long fellowship. Julie is an experienced CEO and director, and as a consultant, she works with non-profit leaders to create high-performance boards, brands that inspire action, and productive, multicultural teams. She's also a small business expert, active angel investor, and advisor to startups. She currently sits on the board of many non-profit organizations, including Women’s Funding Network. The recipient of the top award at the 2013 Hollywood Book Festival for his visionary novel A Cry for a Hero, Jonathan Womack has been described as "emerging as the Stan Lee of novelists."  Synchronistically born on September 11, Jonathan wrote A Cry for a Hero, a tale of  "American superhero vs. terrorists", prior to September 11, 2001, giving the story surreal prophetic qualities.  The Hollywood Book Festival recognized the novel's tremendous potential for the film, television, game and multimedia industries.  Jonathan was honored at a July reception in Hollywood at the same locale as the original Academy Awards. The author of multiple books, Jonathan has had a profound spiritual journey which he reflects through all of his fiction.  He explores questions of spirituality, faith, the brevity of life and what becomes of us after death, enduring questions for the ages brought into particularly sharp focus with the events of recent years. Jonathan is the publisher at the Womack Publishing Group, currently in its tenth year with roughly 800 authors and 1000 titles.  He also works for Harvard University's Graduate School of Education.  Jonathan lectures freely about his out-of-body experiences and his understanding of the soul's existence before, during and after life. This podcast with our dear friend Shyam Das which was scheduled for broadcast today January 22, 2013 tragically coincided with his passing in a motorcycle accident in India three days ago. There are simply no adequate words to describe this loss to all of us. Master chanter, brilliant Krishna scholar, Shyamdas was globally revered, but much more importantly, he was loved for his delightful and friendly ways, his sparkling humorand his seamless, astonishing devotion to the ancient tradition of the ways of love for the Hindu facsimile of the Manifest Divine, Krishna and Radha. Synchronistically, this podcast features a conversation we did with him just before he left for India for the last, fateful time.
