The holiday travel rush is on with an estimated 110 million Americans going over the river and through the woods to grandmother's house and other destinations... and if you're flying you may want to put some thought into what you wear. Jim Moret says it can make a big difference. And as many as one in nine adults take medication to lose weight, and during the holidays it's not uncommon to skip a dose or two for a variety of reasons. But is it safe? Megan Alexander reports. Plus, before a woman headed to the hospital to have her baby she stopped at Costco and had a salad with creamy dressing. Then the morning after her baby was born, a nurse informed her she had tested positive for opiates and her baby was being taken away. Ann Mercogliano tells us what happened. And the baby who just couldn't wait to get to the hospital, in fact - the bundle of joy came into the world right on the doorstep.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
It was a terrifying hostage situation in Los Angeles. Police say a man with a gun shot a fellow passenger on a city bus, then puts the gun to the bus driver's head and tells him to drive. The driver was able to trigger an alarm to alert the cops. As Jim Moret reports, what followed was a high stakes chase that lasted one hour before it ended. And ear piercing screams were heard from a woman trying to save her dog from a vicious coyote attack in broad daylight. It's not just any pet lover, it's the wife of rocker Tommy Lee. Plus, Donald Trump is continuing his war with the late night comics - saying at a rally he would like to bring back Johnny Carson. As Ann Mercogliano reports, perhaps the former president has forgotten Carson often made Trump the butt of his jokes. And lots of questions about the book that's currently an Amazon best seller. It's billed as a memoir from Sean “Diddy' combs ex-partner. She died of pneumonia several years ago, and now the couple's children are saying the book's a fake. Megan Alexander put the author on the hot seat. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
We begin today with a nail-biting video of first responders desperately trying to save a toddler who fell into a drainpipe. The 14-month-old boy had been playing outside when he fell into a 12-inch-wide pipe and got trapped. The challenge was he's too young to follow instructions from rescuers. Megan Alexander spoke with his very relieved mom. And, there's still big reaction to Donald Trump telling a convention of black journalists that his rival Kamala Harris had only recently quote "turned black." Today the former president is doubling down saying he crushed it, while others say it was a crushing blow to his campaign. Plus, the families of Americans who were being held in Russia are crying tears of joy today over the news their loved ones were coming home. Paul Whelan and Evan Gershkovich are among those released in the biggest prisoner exchange with Russia since the cold war. But many are wondering: what happened to the ballerina from Los Angeles who is being detained in Russia on what Russia claims is suspicion of treason? Her worried boyfriend is speaking out. And, there's a new sensation at the Olympics and she isn't one of the athletes. It's an adorable superfan whose jaw dropping reaction to team USA swimmer Katie Ledecky winning the gold is well.... gold!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Michelle Marshall, a nursing student, joins us to share her frustration at the governments short-sighted decision. Auckland FC - The new Super City football side that reckons they can win over Phoenix fans. They start October 19th - so can they create a blue wave of support, how are they going to do that, and are they signing any big overseas names? CEO Nick Becker is in the hot seat. Are the days of big pay rises over? Or pay rises in general? Megan Alexander from Robert Half Recruitment joins us. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
How did he get in? That's the big question being asked today about the guy seated right behind Dr. Anthony Fauci during that heated hearing about the pandemic on Capitol Hill. He kept mugging for the camera during the most serious moments...and wait till you hear who Megan Alexander says he is. And you may have heard about that serious scare outside San Diego when a member of a swim team had to be rescued after being bitten by a shark. Now just two days later, while the injured man recovers in the hospital, his fellow swim team members are going back in the water. Plus, a store manager, fed up with the brazen crime in her neighborhood, takes matters into her own hands. She confronts a young woman she says stole two jackets from her clothing boutique - and the two get into quite the heated exchange. Now she's speaking with our Lisa Guerrero. And a poster is advertising a new reality show on TLC - no it's not a fake. Alec Baldwin, who famously shoves the press away when they get too close, has just signed a deal for cameras to follow him and his family everywhere. As Les Trent reports, lots of people are asking ...why? See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
She's the woman on the receiving end of Sean “Diddy” Combs violence in that hotel hallway video…and now Cassie Ventura is talking about it. She says domestic violence broke her, and she's still working to recover. And going someplace this holiday weekend? Well, that's you and 43.8 million other people. So listen up to Megan Alexander's travel dos and don'ts. Plus, a little boy ended up hospitalized after he came face to face with a rattlesnake in his backyard. Jim Moret visited the boy and his very relieved mom. And more fireworks at the house hearing looking at college protests with one representative telling some university officials they've earned an “F” for the way they've handled things.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
The defense has rested in the hush money trial of Donald Trump…without the former president taking the witness stand. The jury will get the case next week. Meantime, 4,000 miles away at the Cannes Film Festival, a screening of a film called The Apprentice is causing a stir. It's about Donald Trump's rise to fame as a real estate tycoon in New York - and one scene in particular is causing an uproar. And there's a reason they say keep your seatbelt fastened on a plane…it's for unexpected turbulence. However, on a Singapore bound flight overnight, that turbulence turned deadly. One man is dead, and nearly three dozen others injured. Jim Moret explains what happened. Plus, a man collapsed while cycling in the Arizona heat, but fortunately a nurse was nearby. As the woman worked to save his life…she started singing the Bee Gees hit “Staying alive” for a very good reason. Megan Alexander explains. And she famously played an A.I. robot in the movie Her, and now actress Scarlett Johansson is furious over the uncanny resemblance of an A.I. voice being used by a major tech company to her own. Johansson is taking legal action, suggesting the similarity is no accident. After weeks of rumors and conspiracy theories about her health and whereabouts, we now know Kate Middleton has cancer. In a stunning video, the future queen explained to the world that after she had abdominal surgery in January, doctors found cancer. And the news the family of the college student who disappeared in Nashville had been dreading. Today, authorities confirmed a body pulled from a river was indeed Riley Strain. He got separated from his fraternity brothers as he left a bar intoxicated and somehow ended up in the water. Megan Alexander is in Nashville with the latest. Plus, Carlee Russell made national news for faking her own kidnapping. After a massive search, Russell reappeared telling cops she had been abducted and held against her will - but it was all a lie. Now, the 25-year-old nursing student is in court to learn her fate. And you could hear March Madness brackets falling apart across the country as the Duquesne Dukes won their first NCAA tournament in 55 years! There's lots more court action this weekend, with more than 30 games happening across the country...and if your husband is one of the millions glued to the TV - you may need our survival guide for March Madness widows. Just days after celebrating her 42nd birthday, Britain's Princess Kate is in the hospital where she's recovering from abdominal surgery. The palace is being pretty tight lipped about what exactly is going on - but with word she'll be in the hospital for up to 14 days and out of public eye until Easter, there is concern. And writer E Jean Carroll was back on the witness stand today…this time testifying about how Donald Trump's defamatory statements affected her and her life. The former president was in the courtroom as she testified, at times reacting visibly and loudly enough that the judge admonished him to "keep his voice down." Plus, we're learning more about the 10-year-old boy who was bitten at an attraction in the Bahamas called "Walk with Sharks." It's incredibly popular with tourists, but as Steven Fabian reports, questions are now being raised about safety. And it is still crazy cold across the country. The weather service saying records are being broken right and left and another blast of frigid air is coming. While you can't do anything about the weather, Megan Alexander says there are a few things you can do to keep warm.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Some eyewitnesses say as things got worse, many passengers were left to fend for themselves and jump overboard. Megan Alexander says it's alleged that the trash from their big day was not cleaned up. And she had a one-way ticket to Vietnam and was just about to board a flight when the ex-mother-in-law of the Florida law professor who was murdered 9 years ago was arrested. Where there is genuine excitement over the news that the actors strike is over. The strike, the longest in the Screen Actors Guild's history, was resolved late yesterday and today performers are getting ready to get back to work. And graphic footage depicting Hamas attacking Israel was shown at a screening last night organized by Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot. But things got ugly as a fight broke out spilling onto the street. Ironically, the screening was held at the Museum of Tolerance. Plus, at times it was downright ugly during last night's republican debate. Nikki Haley got really mad when one of the candidates brought up her daughter. She immediately hit back calling him scum. And today she's doubling down. And, social media lit up with concerns for Wynnona Judd after she seemed off during her performance. Even leaning on another singer for support. Well, as Megan Alexander reports, Wynnona saw the comments and is explaining what happened. Was it a message sent in frustration or a cold-blooded hit on an estranged spouse? That's what a jury may be asked to decide in the case of a former cheerleader accused of ordering her husband of 13 years be killed. The woman has been behind bars in the Bahamas, but as Megan Alexander reports, today she's asking the judge to release her. And the latest air passenger to make headlines for bad behavior has now been identified. You probably remember the lady who had some sort of meltdown and started screaming midflight. Well it turns out she is, or at least, was a highly regarded marketing executive. Plus, heartbreak for Sandra Bullock as her life partner has passed away following a very private battle with ALS. As Lisa Guerrero reports, the actress is being praised for the care she made sure he received. A 25-year-old nursing student called 911 claiming she saw a toddler in a diaper wandering along an Alabama highway...then she vanished for two days. Now comes a bombshell press conference as authorities reveal just hours before her disappearance, she searched the internet for the kidnapping movie Taken...and they say they have not found any evidence that the toddler really existed. And he's accused of being the notorious Gilgo beach serial killer who cops say murdered at least three women and possibly more. Now we're hearing from his next door neighbor who says the 6'4" suspect creeped his wife out peering at her over a fence while she was sunbathing. He spoke with Les Trent. The suspect has pleaded not guilty to the Gilgo Beach killings. Plus, It may be the first time in Hollywood history that two movies being released by different studios are being hyped together. Both Barbie and Oppenheimer hit screens Friday and movie goers are actually buying tickets to see both as a double feature. Megan Alexander has more on what's being dubbed “Barbenheimer.” And when this bride boarded a plane for her honeymoon she sobbed the whole way. Why? Because she accidentally left her passport that she needed for her cruise at home. The ill-fated submersible mission is putting the spotlight on extreme tourism. The men paid $250,000 each to see the Titanic. Whether it's rocketing into space or climbing Mt. Everest, Megan Alexander says there are many incredibly expensive and potentially dangerous ways thrill seekers can spend their time. And a woman seated next to a 50 pound pit bull was not a bit happy about it....prompting the question - should a potentially dangerous animal be allowed in the cabin - even if it's an emotional support animal? Plus, Bebe Rexha is back on stage just days after a fan hit her in the face with his cell phone. The Grammy nominated singer had one request - don't throw your phone! And just weeks after we told you how the CDC had issued a warning about getting cut-rate cosmetic surgery in Matamoros, Mexico…another woman has died from a deadly fungal infection. A 28-year-old who went to the Covenant School as a little girl. She became an artist, recently came out as transgender...and for some reason, carefully planned a deadly shooting. The pastor's daughter, her two classmates, the principal, the custodian and a substitute teacher were all victims of the latest senseless school shooting in America. Three were nine-year-old children - which is prompting parents across the country to post photos of their own little ones with the hashtag "this is nine years old." He says when unauthorized individuals decided to move into his mom's unoccupied house…he turned the tables on them, and very firmly got them to leave. The game was a close one, the commercials sparked plenty of commentary, and Rihanna did not disappoint. That pretty much sums up Superbowl LVII, which was a nailbiter right up until the final moments when Kansas City won thanks to a field goal in the last ten seconds of the game. Megan Alexander has all the action, including controversy over why so many players were slipping and sliding all over the field. And we didn't know for sure until after her performance, but Rihanna became the first pregnant performer to do a Super Bowl Halftime Show. Our cameras captured all the precautions in place to keep her safe. Plus, this ad was voted the top commercial of the Super Bowl - and if the Farmer's Dog spot inspired you to go cuddle your dog, well, you weren't alone. Ann Mercogliano has the details about the little company that blew away the much bigger competition. And what are you supposed to do if the accelerator on your car gets stuck?
