On his daily First 10 podcast, Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey reacts to the Steelers' NFL Week 14 victory against the Cleveland Browns at Acrisure Stadium. Specifically, he explains why coach Mike Tomlin's get-right instead of get-even message ahead of the battle with the AFC North rival was the right one as critical matchups with the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs loom over the last month of the regular season. And why Russell Wilson is the perfect QB to help maintain that even keel amid the injury to key receiver George Pickens. Later, Jason offers thoughts on former Pirates star Dave Parker and Wampum, Pa., native Dick Allen getting elected to the baseball Hall of Fame.

Today's show spends a lot of time looking at the techno-thriller's 3rd re-write (to-date) and how the script keeps getting worse with each successive draft. Today we had the Acting Director for the US Secret Service, Ronald Rowe, and Deputy Director of the FBI, Paul Abbate, testifying before the Senate. Today's hearing was really no more productive than the one hosted by the House last week. We did learn that the USSS has determined their failure was a “failure of imagination.” Apparently, they failed to imagine that there might be bad people in the world who might want to carry out bad deeds. They failed to imagine what would happen if they just assumed their law enforcement partners already knew what they were doing. They failed to imagine what it might be like to not have a more well thought out communication plan. By the time questions were asked by Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Senator Blumenthal (D-MA), Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Senator John Kennedy (R-LA), my head had already exploded multiple times. One thing is clear, we need to talk to the commander of the police units who was coordinating the other law enforcement personnel. There was obvious failure on that side of the story as well, and there are serious questions that need to be answered. I had a lot of show prep regarding VP Kamala Harris, but decided to do more of an overview today, given how long I took to cover the Senate hearing. I do want to implore everyone to stick to Kamala's current accomplishments, her current talking points and any past promises. We do not need to get personal because that will only muddy the water. She is a failed liberal with a Marxist view for America. We need to hammer that over and over from now until November 5. How to Grow an Audience – Episode 351 Mindset Our time is limited, and relatively short Push aside your ego. Be okay being a beginner, and sucking at things (stage right story). Dealing with critics, haters, naysayers Invest in skills. (Communication, Copywriting, Comedy, Production, Editing) Be your own brand. Don't work with mentors who overshadow or take credit for your brand. Be 1 of 1, not 1 of 1000's. Groups are okay, but wear your own brand. Purpose above Fear. Avoid regret. (write your Eulogy) Creating content to grow an audience 80/20 Rule. 80% of your content should be about things you enjoy doing. Things you'd do for free. 20% is focused on your expertise and your mastery. Expertise vs Mastery (paid to do, vs successful) Don't copy the formats or edits of others. Be yourself. Identify what makes you unique, and amplify this. Don't get ahead of your actual results. Results matter most. “Right Message, Wrong Person” Entertain, Educate, or Encourage Humor vs Inspiration Quality vs Quantity Be social and support others. Finding clients is one thing. Keeping them is another. Especially when the work you do is so powerful that folks feel like they're fixed after only 4 coaching sessions. That was the case for Jessica Raaum Foster who realized that in order to really have the impact (and the income) she craves, she needs to redesign her offer and refocus her niche. If you worry that nobody will actually be interested in investing in your coaching program, this episode will help you re-evaluate your dream client, the offer they really need, and the message to call them in. In this episode, Dallas and Jessica cover: An honest conversation about the type of client whose willing and able to invest in coaching for the long haul An audit of Jessica's content and message to ensure it aligns with her target audience. How to turn a nice to have offer into a give it to me know program A Bit About Jessica Jessica Raaum Foster helps people get out of pain and improve performance by teaching them how to play with their brains. I’ve actually worked with Jessica and her methods are pretty mind blowing. Jessica came into our conversation feeling really clear about who her dream client actually is. And also pretty clear that she hasn't been delivering a clear message or offer that aligns with that same dream client. So, the two of us put our heads together to design a simple, scalable program that Jessica’s dream client will not only leap toward, but they’ll also want to stay for the long haul. Then, we identified gaps in Jessica’s message plus a framework to fill those gaps so she could take her shiny new offer to the streets. Whether you’re crystal clear about your dream client or not, this episode will reveal four essential steps to ensure that your marketing message and your offer both align with the clients you want to attract.
