Romans 10 | Grace: Salvation Received, Not Achieved (with David White)

"Christmas is DYNOMITE"

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 17, 2025 54:55

In this engaging sermon, guest speaker David White steps in for Pastor Karl to unpack Romans 10, a chapter rich with the promise of salvation—or "soteria," as it's called in Greek. Diving into Romans 10, David explores Paul's heartfelt plea for his fellow Israelites to embrace salvation through faith, not works. With personal stories—like his dad's grace-filled response to bike-stealing teens—he illustrates the difference between mercy (not getting what we deserve) and grace (getting what we don't deserve). David's core message is clear: "Salvation cannot be achieved; it can only be received because grace is greater than you." Quoting Paul, he emphasizes that believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that "Jesus is Lord" opens the door to God's gift—no effort required, just acceptance.  David challenges listeners to move beyond mere hope into prayer for their heart's desires and to share this good news with others, echoing Paul's call for beautiful feet that bring the gospel. With wit and warmth, he warns against complicating grace, urging us to simply receive it. This episode is a compelling blend of scripture, storytelling, and a call to live out faith in everyday life—perfect for anyone seeking clarity on salvation's simplicity.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 9:00am & 10:30am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

5 Reasons Why Springtime in Tulsa Is So Wonderful

These are a few of my favorite things about the springtime in Tulsa. Spring has sprung in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and the weather has been absolutely gorgeous. These refreshing and sunny days have made me begin to think about all the things I love about this season.  First of all, I love that we get to enjoy all the different seasons here (though most of us don’t particularly enjoy the tornadoes or ice storms). The other things I love about our spring season include: 1. Flowers. Spring means that plantlife is blooming, and you can see beautiful flowers in front yards, fields, and anywhere else you look in the city. There’s so much beauty here. On top of this, Woodward Park and the botanical gardens are now open to the public, and they have tons of gorgeous flowers and blooming trees to enjoy.  2. Shopping. I love to shop, especially at our outdoor malls. We have Utica Square, which is full of both local and big-brand stores that provide everything you could ever want. The Farm Shopping Center has also had some big updates and fun new things to check out. We also have Cherry Street and Brookside for all of your dining and boutique shopping needs. “These refreshing and sunny days have made me begin to think about all the things I love about this season.” 3. Eating outdoors. Many of our restaurants have wonderful outdoor dining areas; with the pandemic, many restaurants had no other choice but to expand their patio seating. Now, this means we have even more places to choose from. 4. Exercising outside. Maybe your fitness goals fell by the wayside this year, but Tulsa’s beautiful spring weather provides the perfect opportunity to get outside and start working out. If you’re looking for ideas, the riverside is a great area to walk or jog while enjoying the beautiful scenery. 5. Enjoying the front porch. I just love to sit on the front patio and watch everything the city does throughout the day. It gives me time to get outside and breathe, have a happy hour, and just smile at the beautiful weather. What do you enjoy most about our Tulsa springtime? Or are you living outside of our area and hoping to become a resident in the near future? Either way, I’d love to hear from you. And as always, I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have about buying, selling, or real estate in general. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

This is a clip of the grand opening of the recently discovered lost Fresno civilization in Woodward Park. As you can see a lot of people turned out for the opening and were not disappointed.     The ruins took over a year to be dug out. Reportedly a dog walker stumbled upon them in the northeast corner of the park. They were completely unknown until now. This is an amazing discover and seems to have connections to similar structures found in other parts of the world. Fresno has a lot of history to be proud of. Allegedly, the Fresno Chamber of Commerce is very excited and is planning mass advertising of the ruins to draw new visitors to the city. Everyone was shocked upon learning of the discover in late 2016. It has been kept a secret from the public until now to prevent vandalism of the site. However, now that the site is open, security is at a high level.   A visitor at the Fresno Underground Gardens reportedly saw a staff member sigh upon hearing the news, throw up their hands, and run into a bathroom crying. Competition will surely be intense in the Fresno area among all the ruins sites vying for visitors. Dogs are not allowed on the site and reportedly the Fresno Woodward Park dog park is under consideration for a relocation due to the smell, which could detract from new visitation to the ruins. A couple of dogs owners have already been cited for allowing their dogs to run up to the ruins and urinate on the structure. Tonight on City Of Giants with Michael Patton we have John Orsulak, the event chair for 2018 SpringFest at Woodward Park. Tulsa Garden Center This is one of my favorite things to do in Tulsa in April and I always buy a new spring color shirt to wear. I believe it serves as the official beginning of spring and the park is always beautiful as well. John was great. He pimped the park and bus ride from All Souls Church on Saturday, worked in the volunteer Boy Scouts who help get your purchases to your car, and talked all about the vendors and volunteers. Here is a link of vendors...http://tulsagardencenter.com/events/springfest/ Of course, I asked stupid question. I wanted to know if the Rose Society and Iris Society fight like Crips and Bloods and why SpringFest has so much focus on pollinators when you can't eat them. John was wonderful to put up with my odd conversation about soiling myself and only wanting to buy cut flowers (cause they are already dead). Last year's event with Gt Bynum sold out quick. https://www.facebook.com/events/430650607366829/ We had odd conversations. I asked if the dozens of weddings and related sadness adversely hurt the gardens. When she mentioned they have added a wine refrigerator into the Bridal room, I suggested they add a pool table somewhere for the grooms. She raved about Linneaus Teaching garden and I was impressed that every plant has a name tag. I also loved her explanation of the rose beds being a academic research center. I was amazed at the variety of events. Here is their March newsletter...http://tulsagardencenter.com/…/March-2018-TGC-Newsletter.pdf. It was really interesting to hear how popular weddings and corporate events at this historic mansion in the middle of a park have recently become. Being dressed up in a fancy place that is not a church is just really in right now. It feels good using the radio show to help promote such a wonderful place. It is not just the Tulsa Garden Center, it the the center of gardening in the Tulsa area. The song list for tonight is also impressive.
