Do you have a backup system for client workflow? What about your personal digital life? If you are like most professional photographers, the business systems are solid instilling confidence in your clientele that all bases are covered and their precious memories are secure from "Acts of God" or general mishaps. I would bet, that in the same household, the personal side of digital assets including phone images are not so securely backup up, or even easily accessible. Well, have no fear, a superhero is near! She might not wear a cape daily around town, but I'm positive her client list gives her high praises akin to Woman Wonder! Her name is Lisa Mast and she is a phenomenally talented digital organizer, capable of lassoing the largest mess of images into a highly catalogized, easily retrievable, and reliable system. The difficult tasks are done immediately and the impossible ones only take a little extra time.Sit back with your favorite beverage and let's scratch the surface of this important topic. But before you start... answer this simple question - Do you know where your 2019 Christmas photos are located and can you pull them up quickly for review? If that answer is anything other than a loud "YES!", then you need to listen to the whole podcast and then reach out to Lisa!Websitehttps://scissortaildigital.com/Blog Posthttps://scissortaildigital.com/foto-facts-podcast-december-2021/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/scissortaildigital/Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/ScissortailDigital/Get $35 off your first year of PPA (use Robert Trawick or Jim Felder as the referral - like a popularity vote)Visit our YouTube Videos for more weekly inspiration!Connect on the Facebook Page for news and upcoming interview polls.Leave a review on iTunes and let others know about the show. The Foto Twins love using Røde Microphones & RødeCaster Pro for smooth, quality audio on our podcast episodes. Welcome to 2021 and the twins are trying a new approach for our podcast. We are trying Instagram LIVE and then pushing the recording here for the audio podcast. This first episode was not without it's challenges BUT, we managed to push audio in/out of Instagram, load up two phantom powered mics AND bring in two live callers. All with the help of the amazing RODE CasterPro. Our first interview on the new platform was Ben Stanley, a young budding photographer that still in high school. We met at EÔTÉ COFFEE COMPANY while he was admiring my new Wandrd backpack. We chatted a little about photography and lots about everything else. On the plus-size, Ben received a personal invitation to attend the next Metro Professional Photographers Association meeting and the new Thirsty Thursday event, but he isn't old enough to drink yet.Enjoy the podcast and if you wish to check out the live version, head over to the FotoFacts Instagram feed! We don't always have sports photographers on the show, but when we do... we go for the homerun! This week, the Twins chat with Carrie Giordano with a little help from local sports shooter Ron Lane. For this episode, Ron had to guide us in baseball jargon like "The Well", a personal favorite place for this LA Dodger photographer to shoot action.Carrie is not your average choice for a major league baseball shooter, but we have no doubt she can carry her own even if Jim & I have no idea wants she is talking about. Ron was able to keep us in the game but mostly on the bench. What we do know about is great photography and Carrie's landscape work is impressive. We all would love to see more of that work and her true calling. I know she is reading this, so - Carrie, get out there and show that nature work! The guest, of course, is Gary Hughes, a full-time commercial portrait photographer based in Orlando, Florida. The theme is HEADSHOTS and we do chat "some" about the topic but Gary has more information crammed into his brain that most and we just sprinkled a conversation starter letting him take us far beyond Numidian Prime. Wrapping up our FASHION themed month with a long-distance interview record with Australian photographer Marty Strecker. This traditionally trained oil painter of landscapes talks about how the transition to using the camera more for creation versus canvas reference helped him become more outgoing after discovering people. Marty enjoys learning about the person and works hard to bring forth traits into the image created. He eloquently observes the tribe creation power needed for fashion shoots where the creation is a focused goal that many times yields an unexpected result if allowed to experiment. Interestingly, his training as a painter helped Marty visualize light first before moving to the still camera giving him an edge during the learning process. We all know the importance of knowing light but seeing light... that's an area to aspire towards.Marty's personal passion - Project Behind The Line - showcases the juxtaposition of the lives, passion, and individuality of those who work on the front-line of health care and first responders. Beginning mid-2019, this project is on point with the current world's pandemic and we are all in awe and grateful for these heroes' sacrifices.Check out Marty's images online:WebsiteInstagramFacebookVisit our YouTube Videos for more weekly inspiration!Connect on the Facebook Page for news and upcoming interview polls.Join the conversations on Flick appLeave a review on iTunes and let others know about the show. The Foto Twins love using Røde Microphones & RødeCaster Pro for smooth, quality audio on our podcast episodes. Meet Shevaun Williams, the self-professed photographer Diva, ruling Oklahoma from her studio throne on Norman's Main Street. Our listeners are in for a real treat and a crazy surprise that happened at the end of the interview. We are not spoiling the moment here. This craftswoman spends over 80% of her time shooting the commercial genre and the balance creating fashion stories. Shevaun deeply believes in promoting the value of photography by charging separately for the capture creation and licensing. She mentions an important element of fashion photography, often overlooked, that forces the shooter to define, refine, and develop the story of the product. You must create the narrative of the clothes and/or brand. That product rarely is the pretty girl in the cloths.Fashion is 12 o'clock high noon... aim for 11:59 or 12:01 and you will miss it. Your job is to get it right on set.Shevaun's favorite advice for upcoming fashion photographers is simple but poignant. "Get a steamer" and study the fashion world. The month of May is dedicated to FASHION photographers and to lead off the charge we start with Charlie Neuenschwander. This late bloomer to the craft has already left a well-crafted mark on the industry and we are positive you've seen his work gracing the pages of 405 Magazine.Charlie's images are well known in many agencies and professional models, including one of our favorite celebrities, Connie Franklin. His "truth in art" approach consistently delivers authentic portraits for his clients that regularly blur the definition of fashion styling. Charlie's ability to convey an emotion in the image captured is never finished until properly paired with the right post-processing treatment, created specifically for that image and never from a cookie-cutter preset demonstrates his artesian dedication. He is a dedicated family man, just as comfortable wielding a Canon 5d MkIII on set as he is roughhousing with the kids or watching the Mandalorian curled up on the couch. He assured us that since the whole family is involved in the craft, Ryan has no extra money for bad habits.Leaning on the advice of James Pratt, Ryan spends a considerable amount of time practicing visual storytelling in preparation for assignments from editors. Forcing yourself to shoot the story, will help any budding photographer develop the basic skills to get chosen for a magazine editorial. Ryan also shared his passion for conservation-focused captures and the dream to travel the world using his images to bring light nature and wildlife issues.Be sure to follow Ryan online:Going West Productions WebsiteInstagram FacebookHere is the Bird Strike we chatted about on the episode. Welcome to February and this month's theme is MARKETING. Are you ready to make a buck after spending so much on equipment? Join the twins for an hour-long chat with Jamie Cobb, owner/photographer of Photoville, inside her studio in Arcadia, OK.She has been called so many great titles, but you will remember Jamie as "the hustler". Not in a derogatory manner in any way, but more of a term of admiration and maybe a little jealousy. After spending a few minutes with her, you will be tired of hearing about the daily routine and exhausted knowing Jamie runs a high octane, multi-faceted business focused on client experience 24/7. She doesn't stop.Jamie gets candid about the lack of business skills of most photographers and discusses the dead-end approach of "sit and wait for the call" that has many shooters scrambling for a part-time job.Buckle up for the episode you will need to listen three to 3 times to get all the gems Jamie will be laying down. We bet you will want more Jamie Joe time so check out Bedford Camera PhotoCon 2020 line up for her class "The Hustle".Be sure to follow her on social media:Website: https://www.rentphotoville.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/rentphotovilleInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/jamiejcobbInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/rentphotovilleTwitter: https://twitter.com/rentphotovilleSnapchat: jamiejcobbVisit our YouTube Videos for more weekly inspiration!Connect on the Facebook Page for news and upcoming interview polls.Join the conversations on Flick appLeave a review on iTunes and let others know about the show. The Foto Twins love using Røde Microphones & RødeCaster Pro for smooth, quality audio on our podcast episodes. Our listeners are in for awakening with this week's special guest, the legendary Olympus Visionary Joe Edelman. We continue this month's theme of productivity and focus for 2020 and Joe NEVER disappoints with his candor, information and the ability to push anyone out of their comfort zone. Truly an inspirational educator with a sharp tongue backed up with experience and practicality. The twins get schooled on "simplify your process to be productive", Joe's new mantra for the upcoming yearly focus. So examine your processes and see if you are spending too much time planning and not enough energy doing. Joe created a mission statement to use as a guide, ensuring his energy is focus on those things that matter personally. There are no short-cuts in photography and you MUST do the work to get better at the craft. He also mentioned doing less on social media gained him more followers and the best interaction with people. Isn't that what we really want - to connect with other humans? Trust me, Joe connects! Our favorite insight is "Break Shit and Move On" philosophy Joe practices and advocates to photographers. Of course, he is widely known for the "Don't Be Afraid to Suck" method to learn and progress in your craft. Dare we say even in life?Did you know that Evernote had templates? We didn't but we are looking into those right away for upcoming projects. If you think Joe should share his Evernote tips and tricks, comment on this episode's discussion post on FotoFacts Podcast Facebook Page and tag Joe.
