Wyland’s Ford Explorer collided with a Subaru while turning, leading to further collisions with a Chevrolet and a Toyota. Wyland and the Chevrolet driver, Michelle Pack, were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Subaru and Toyota drivers were unharmed. The crash remains under investigation, and anyone with information is urged to contact Cobb County Police. Located on Griggs Street, the community library encourages neighbors to “take a book, leave a book” to promote literacy. Thornton, a language arts teacher, hopes the stand inspires kids and adults to read more. Cobb Collaborative, focused on improving children’s lives, partners with organizations like Marietta City Schools to install these libraries across Cobb County, increasing access to books. The ribbon-cutting ceremony included Thornton’s family and community leaders, celebrating this effort to foster a love of reading. However, the court ruled unanimously that the rule wasn’t breached, as the CID is logically connected to the city’s creation. Mableton was established via a 2022 referendum, with 53% voting in favor. Hello, everyone! Welcome back to The Career Woman's Secret Playbook Podcast. Today's episode is all about harnessing the power of affirmations to set the tone for a confident, balanced, and successful day. That's right, we're diving into how morning affirmations can help you Thrive in 2025—our theme for the year. Morning affirmations are more than just words—they're a mindset. Studies from productivity experts show that starting your day with positive intentions can increase focus, reduce stress, and boost overall productivity. Morning affirmations can be a powerful tool, but not everyone experiences the success they're hoping for. Why is that? To understand this, we need to explore the law of attraction and how it ties into affirmations. If you've struggled with affirmations in the past, start small and focus on affirmations that feel real and attainable. Combine them with visualizations, gratitude, and actionable steps to bring the law of attraction into full force. As a Bonus, I'm sharing 5 powerful affirmations to get you started:1. I am in control of my time and energy. I choose to focus on what truly matters.2. I am capable of handling whatever comes my way today with grace and confidence.3. I deserve a fulfilling life that balances my work and personal happiness.4. I am focused, productive, and energized to accomplish my goals.5. I set healthy boundaries that protect my time, energy, and well-being.These affirmations are just a sneak peek of what we'll cover in our Stress Less, Achieve More Without Sacrificing Work-Life Balance Workshop on January 16th, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. If you're in the Little Rock area, join us in person at the Aloft Hotel, with a free luncheon catered by Chicken Salad Chick. Not local? No problem—we've got a virtual option via Zoom so you can join from anywhere. If you can't make it, visit our website and fill out a contact form to request a copy of these affirmations. John Bjerning talks about the Election Paw-ties happening at Aloft Hotel in Milwaukee.
A Brief HistoryRichardson's history dates back to the mid-1800s when settlers began to arrive in the area. Originally a small farming community, it grew over the years and was officially incorporated as a city in 1925. The city's namesake, E.H. Richardson, was a railroad executive who played a pivotal role in the development of the region's transportation network. Today, Richardson is a vibrant and thriving city that has retained its sense of community while embracing the growth and progress of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Cultural DiversityThe city's diverse population is one of its greatest strengths. Richardson is a melting pot of cultures, with residents hailing from all corners of the globe. This rich cultural tapestry is celebrated through various events and festivals throughout the year, including the annual Cottonwood Arts Festival, where visitors can experience a wide range of art, music, and cuisine from different cultures. Recreation and Green SpacesFor outdoor enthusiasts, Richardson offers an abundance of parks, trails, and recreational facilities. Breckinridge Park is a local favorite, boasting over 400 acres of green space, walking trails, and even a golf course. The Spring Creek Nature Area provides a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, offering opportunities for birdwatching and hiking along scenic trails. Where to StayWe stayed at the Doubletree Dallas Richardson, an excellent bang for your buck hotel. My husband calls it the Cookie Hotel because they give you cookies at check-in. Another recommendation would be the Aloft Hotel, 5 minutes down the street and located in a fun little shopping center. There, you can find an incredible BBQ restaurant called Good Union Urban BBQ. Entertainment and DiningRichardson's dining scene is a testament to its cultural diversity, with a wide array of international cuisine to satisfy any palate. The city is also known for its lively music and arts scene, with local theaters, galleries, and music venues offering entertainment options year-round.Right around the corner from the DoubleTree was an adorable little theater called the Richardson Theater Center. Honestly, we didn't know what to expect, but when I came across the theater on the web, they were running a production of “A Few Good Men,” which was my husband's favorite movie, so I decided to go for it! Turns out it was wonderful! The theater was the coziest, most unique little theater I have ever seen! When we arrived, it was rainy and dark. With the blinds drawn shut and the older-looking shopping center dimly lit, I wondered if we were even in the right place. However, when we walked in, I was taken aback. Decorated with black and white film shots covering the walls, red velvet curtains, 1920s antique couches, lamps, and rugs, it was so unique! The theater also served complimentary snacks and drinks, a wonderful touch! Let me tell you, wine and popcorn equals happy Sof. There was also coffee and cookies if that is more your vibe. We saw the 8:00 PM showing of “A Few Good Men,” and the acting was superb. My hands-down favorite breakfast spot in Richardson was Fairview Farmers. The presentation was gorgeous, and the taste was so rich. My favorite meal was the breakfast skillet (they have so many). Some other breakfast recommendations that we received from locals were the Lone Spur Cafe and Eddie's Diner. If you are a pizza and wine lover, a great casual dinner spot is Sixty Vines. For a warm, quaint, and romantic bistro, try Toulouse Cafe & Bar. For funky tacos try the Velvet Taco. For premier steak, try Bob's Steak and Chop House. For the best burgers, beers, and cocktails, try Rodeo Goat. For Phenomenal Mexican food, try Mi Cocina. Other great Mexican spots are Meso Maya, Casa Mama, and Mesero. Our main reason for coming to Texas on this particular trip was to attend a good friend's wedding, which took place in Richardson at the Chapel of the Heights Church. It was a beautiful wedding, and the reception was held in a super cute, intimate Art Deco, rustic venue called 34 Events in historic downtown Richardson.Richardson, Texas, is a city that beautifully blends the modernity of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex with a welcoming, small-town atmosphere. With abundant hidden gems, cultural diversity, and plenty of recreational activities, it's no wonder that Richardson has become an excellent spot for a short visit. Richardson proved that every place, big or small, is full of hidden gems well worth the research and while. Come and discover the charm of this vibrant Texan city for yourself!
We're less than a month into Mike Johnston's first term as mayor, and things are already off to a bumpy start — some media outlets reported this week that the mayor would not enforce homeless encampment sweeps. Turns out that wasn't quite the case. Plus, Suncor continues to fail, RTD is actually winning, and Denver Parks and Rec gets a well-deserved pat on the back. Host Bree Davies is joined by producer and chief conspiracy theorist Paul Karolyi and regular fave Joshua Emerson, comedian and co-chair of the Denver American Indian Commission. And as always, newsletter editor Peyton Garcia shares her best bets for your weekend — think brewery birthdays, vegan mania, Aurora chef celebrations, and more! For more on the rollout of Mayor Johnston's homelessness plan, check out this helpful piece from our pal Kyle Harris at Denverite. Paul mentioned the Aloft Hotel's new vacancies, Cultivando's air monitoring program in Commerce City and a new local investment opportunity. Bree talked about that big green building on Kalamath, her love for the Northside's Ashland Rec Center, the Denverite piece on The Gathering Place-operated motel shelter shutting down, and her husband's UMS party this weekend. Josh talked about RTD's historic rate decrease and the prospects for this year's sweet corn harvest. For more on Suncor — the recent shutdown and its enormous economic impact — check out our episode from back in February with Denver Post reporter Noelle Phillips. In November 2019 I stood in the lobby of the Aloft Hotel in the Liberties area of Dublin city. For the first time in more than 70 years the roofs and buildings of four operating Irish whiskey distilleries could be seen - Pearse Lyons Distillery, Teeling Distillery, Roe & Co and the focus of this week’s podcast, the Dublin Liberties Distillery. In fact as I marveled at the return of distilling to Ireland’s capital, right on cue, a truck full of barley arrived, ready for Master Distiller Darryl McNally to turn it into single malt irish whiskey and I watched as its contents were magically emptied from the truck straight in through the wall of the Dublin Liberties Distillery. Darryl has spent his whole working life in Irish whiskey and the Dublin Liberties Distillery is his chance to put his very own stamp on whiskey that he’s been keen to make for years. In this episode of stories and sips, I have the pleasure of chatting with a master of his craft and a mentor to many up and coming young distillers. I was not going to let a chance to chat with a Master Distiller of Darryl’s calibre go to waste and made sure to dive deep into such topics as: - What Darryl believes makes for a good Master Distiller - What he considered when building his whiskey portfolio at Dublin Liberties Distillery - What it takes to build a distillery from the ground up - What a career at Ireland’s oldest distillery, Bushmills, taught him about single malt and running a distillery - What the DNA of his own whiskey is.
We hear the stories of three Marriott Bonvoy members who joined their favorite artists for intimate concerts — and more — in the artists' hometowns. For Sandy, this meant decorating cupcakes with singer/songwriter Banks and watching her perform at the Aloft Hotel in LA. For Jourdan, it was a weekend getaway to see pop star Troye Sivan and ask a very personal question that he'd wanted to ask for years. And for Marcelo, who went to that same Troye Sivan concert, it meant finally getting to know the artist he'd moved all the way from Colombia to Australia to see.You can check out more Aloft music experiences at aloft-hotels.marriott.com.To learn more about Moments membership and experiences, sign up at moments.marriottbonvoy.com.And to explore the world's greatest destinations and get inspired for your next trip, visit us at traveler.marriott.com. Our Re/Groove resident Enrique Cortazar of Unscene Records takes the decks here to drop a funky, groovy, techy and minimal poolside set to groove through the afternoon. His set winds in and out of the groove as he blends, mixes and kills some of his own originals as well as his labelmate's tracks often. This set was the set up set for Noevol to take the decks that hot May afternoon as people worked their hangovers off in the pool.
A phenomenal set was on tap for this afternoon by the pool. Dustcity Music's own Noevol came out all the way from El Paso to give our poolside a hot afternoon treat! With tracks supported by Richie Hawtin, Noevol is no stranger to the underground scene. He puts together a seamless rolling bassline set through the afternoon to take the pool party into high gear. Absolutely perfect, Noevol recharges and "Re/Grooves" the pool party with some scorching beats.
Josh Granado steps up next on another hot afternoon in the South Texas sun to drop the groovy tunes in this next mix set. The aloft hotel is a great destination for summer swimming and cold drinks on one Sunday a month here in San Antonio when efusionradio and Unscene Records throw their Re/Groove pool party. Josh Granado's beats perfectly compliment the swanky vibe of the hotel as patrons take a cool dip and work off their hangovers with mimosas and margaritas.
The newest member of the efusionradio family spins his first seet at the aloft hotel for another summer of hot parties by the cool pool! This summer has a lot in store and K3vst3p (Kevin Castillo) sets the tone with his house groove. As the resident at the Raven Hookah Lounge "Effin Thursdays" in San Antonio, Kevin has a lot going on and promises for a bright future of spinning fresh tunes for Texas!
With the final installment of our Summer Rehab Pool Party Series at hand, the next set we are releasing on our podcast is a guest set from none other than Christian Thomas. One of Unscene Records featured artists and a fixture at many events in Austin and San Antonio, Christian closes out the August pool party with the perfect blend of techy, funky, deep beats! Everyone was grooving around the place, the bar was full and our extra beefed up sound was BOOMING. Christian leaves the entire crowd craving more with this amazing set and we are about to deliver one more time on Sept. 23 at the aloft Hotel, San Antonio!
Next it was KeeQue's turn to deliver the goods at the aloft Hotel in San Antonio. Starting with classic Masters at Work sounds then moving in and out of deep, funky, jazzy tunes, KeeQue provided yet another perfect groove to take the pool party into the late afternoon and setting the stage for the final DJ, Christian Thomas. KeeQue weaves in and out, seamlessly, taking the swimmers, the drink sippers, the dancers and the rest of the pool party attendees to the peak of the party! Lots of classic wax tunes were included in this set from KeeQue's recent trip to San Francisco's heavenly vinyl providers!
Getting the next pool party rocking in August, Enrique Cortazar brings his sound of deep house and techno beats to the poolside at the Aloft Hotel San Antonio. Enrique and his team at Unscene Records and Digital Beat Radio have played a big part in the huge success of these pool parties and his sets are definitely the culmination of his passion for his own art and production as well as his labelmates and their fresh sound. This one will keep your head bobbin' and your feet movin' the entire time!
To end off the long day by the pool, Anthony Garcia of Sun City Hustlers takes the decks for his birthday celebration. Going from deep house to jackin funk, Anthony takes the party up to the next level as the margaritas continue to flow! The sound is cranked up loud and people are stopping by just to see what's happening and the pool volleyball comes to a climactic finish. The perfect end to the perfect pool party day!
Following ISA, Freddy Soliz steps up to the decks and brings a techy groovy vibe to the poolside. Keeping the feeling going and getting the afternoon into full stride, Freddy provides track after track of deep beats and funky stabs as the pool volleyball tournament got extremely competitive. The huge subs were pounding and the drinks were flowing!
Next up is a set from another great dj in the San Antonio House and Techno family; ISA. ISA starts off the day on our 7-29 pool party with the perfect groove to get the mimosas flowing and the poolside vibe moving. ISA drops a sexy set of beats that needs to be experienced at your own poolside gathering and we are bringing him right to you.
Well it has been 8 months since we have updated you with a new podcast, but trust that we have been so busy all year long with parties and mixing and elevating our local house music scene to much higher levels since we last posted a podcast. This summer we have had some AMAZING pool parties out at the aloft Hotel in San Antonio and this set is just the start of a series of mixes recorded live right by the pool! Josh Granado puts together an amazing start to the afternoon as he establishes a head bobbing groove to get the water volleyball games started. Enjoy this funky, groovy set!
This show will be a review of topics presented from the live discussion forum on July 31, 2010 at 7pm at the Aloft Hotel in North Charleston, South Carolina. It will be recorded and ustreamed from that location for a world audience to witness as they were unable to attend because of geographic restrictions.
My hometown club is reopening in a new location. The Drop Comedy Club has a new home at the Aloft Hotel in Downtown South Bend, IN. I talked to Heather O'Laughlin & Jim Kliss, two of the partners in at The Drop about the reopening and having the great Stewart Huff kick off opening weekend as their headliner. Comedy clubs and comedians have really suffered this past year and it's great to see the club where I started my open mic journey coming back to life. Make sure to support The Drop if you're local and if you're not, support your local club. The club and the comics really need it.
