    This week we're discussing the why and the how of reframing the way you talk about yourself and your experiences of life.I've got a few things I want you to consider about the way you talk about and to yourself, and to see if you can reframe it in a way that is more beneficial, and less emotionally charged.From this stance we can recognise that emotions are  simply a part of the human experience. We can allow ourselves to feel them as they arise, and run their course without judging or repressing them, as we so often do.We also need to be careful what we own when we talk to  or about ourselves. When we own the emotions or an illness or imbalance, we become identified with them, and that is not good for us.It puts us into victim mode.     This week we’re looking at the aspect of timing in your readiness, or not, to sort yourself out.Many people feel like they want to make a change. They KNOW they need to make a change. They try again and again, but they just can’t seem to make it stick.Maybe you’ve noticed this in your life? Or you feel like you know what you need to do, you know the steps to take, but you just cannot make yourself do it.We usually have to be really motivated to make a change in our lives, to break out of our habitual patterns of behaviour, of thinking, of being. These things can be hard work, and if we are not sufficiently motivated, or if the stakes are not high enough, we may find ourselves backsliding, reverting to the old unwanted ways, or making false start after false start.Sometimes we need to hit rock bottom or have a serious scare or get totally fed up before we’ll make the change we KNOW we need to make, and succeed at making it permanent. But here is the major point about being ready to sort ourselves out: We have to reach that point where it’s less painful to make the change, than to carry on as we are. And as in my case I discuss today, sometimes our own idea for the change we need to make is too narrow and limiting, and our soul has bigger ideas for us!     There are 2 practices that I credit with totally uplifting my life, when I was a mess after I quit drinking. The first is meditation. And the second was beginning a mindfulness practice.     This week we’re discussing the art of self-tweaking. What the hell is that, you say? Well, I don’t know if self-tweaking is a thing, or if I made that name up. We just absorb everything we’re told.Later in life, as adults, we have the opportunity to filter through all those programs and clear ourselves of what’s unhelpful or unhealthy or not working for us now, and actually choose the beliefs and ideas that we want to guide our lives by now.Unfortunately, many of us have become experts at dysfunctional behaviours. For example, maybe you’re very skillful in worrying, or judging others, or having low self-esteem, or feeling guilty, or blaming others, or finding things that stop you from feeling happy. There are all sorts of ways of being and looking at the world that we have learned, that do not serve us.
