Special Guest: Destini Ann Davis isn't a parenting expert, she's a working mom and a certified parenting coach who has learned it all simply by doing and listening, and reading every book along the way. She advocates for peaceful parenting and positive discipline techniques that encourage both the parent and child to connect and communicate. Her positive energy and upbeat approach to parenting has resulted in her TikTok channel growing to over 900K followers in just a few short months- (last time I checked it was at a million and a half). Her approach to parenting isn't clinical; it's real life and focused on helping her followers become more peaceful and positive people so they can raise more peaceful and positive kids. “All of us have moments in our lives that test our courage. Taking children into a house with a white carpet is one of them.” ~ Erma Bombeck Guest Introduction: Welcome to Exploring the Seasons of Life, a podcast for women with a big heart on a spiritual journey. I'm your host Cindy MacMillan and I'm joined today by Deborah Ann Davis. Each week, I interview coaches and spiritual explorers from all walks of life about beginnings, endings and the messy bits in-between. Self-love, well-being, and mindset are at the heart of our conversations because once you change the inside, the outside will begin to change as well. This interview is part of a self-care series called Life in Full Bloom: Living From the Inside Out. You may be wondering - wait - what does she mean - Living From the Inside Out. I believe the way we feel about ourselves on the inside determines what we will create for ourselves on the outside. Hey friends, welcome back to another episode of Exploring the Seasons of Life podcast. I am delighted you are here and thanks for hanging out with me. I can't wait to share today's guest. You're doing better than you think. As a Parenting Life Coach, author, speaker, former science teacher and mother, Deborah's job is to help you recognize what you're doing right, and to add supplemental strategies. Her books “How To Keep Your Daughter From Slamming the Door” and “How To Get Your Happy On” are available everywhere. On July 31, Deborah and two of her colleagues are offering the third of a 4-part series of free seminars called "Talk About Teens" for parents of tweens and teens. This one is on how to rock the return to school after that weird year we just had. Join her Facebook group, The Mom Meet-Up, or email her at info@DeborahAnnDavis.com for more information. You don't have to go it alone. Here's a glimpse of our conversation: Deborah, welcome to the podcast. 5:15 I taught for many years, and I taught a group of children who happens to be in a huge transition. It's called puberty. And they are very emotional and very insecure. And absolutely, positively convinced that everybody's got it together, except them. 5:46 Parents all think that all the other parents have it together, and they're screwing up their kid's life. And really, they're doing way better than they think they are. If you just look at how great your kid is, you could see the evidence of what you've done right. 8:07 And that's the mistake we all make is we compare ourselves to everybody around us, you know, we compare our clothing and our makeup and our hair, and the behavior of our children and the success of our children and of the relationship we're having with our significant other. And I mean, we never look at ourselves and say, wow, I am in a better place now than I was a year ago. 11:15 I wish somebody had said to me, baby steps, Deborah baby steps, all you have to do is worry about today. So, all you people out there, I'm that voice, I'm saying that to you right now, you are doing better than you think. And all you have to do is take the baby steps to move yourself forward. That's all you have to do. 30:13 That's what an awesome mom is, you think your screwing up. But what you're doing is showing your child you're resilient. You don't have to be perfect, it's not real. And trying for perfection is the exact same thing is trying for anxiety. And if you are modeling an attempt to be perfect, then you're doing a disservice to your children. 32:41 In my book, How To Get Your Happy On, there's a list of 10 things that you can do to increase your happiness. The first one is self-care, if you model self-care, you're increasing your own happiness. And you're modeling that for your kids. So they're learning self-care, and it will raise their happiness level to, plus when you're haggard, and overtired and overwhelmed, and scared, and worried. They cannot be happy and be jubilant in their lives. 41:19 And you know what, for you other empty nesters out there, that conversation about I love you no matter what still is important. Those conversations with your kids, I don't care how old they are. They can be 20, 30, 40, 50 that conversation I love you no matter what, we may squabble, we may get in a fight. I may say, you know what, I don't want to talk to you right now. But I love you no matter what. And I will be back. Even when just trying to start a conversation feels impossible. Mother and parenting life coach Deborah Ann Davis knows how that feels, and today joins Mighty Parenting podcast host Sandy Fowler to discuss why our teens behave this way, what they're actually looking for from us, and how we can break through the snarky behavior and converse seriously with our kids (even when we just want to throw up our hands and ignore it all). In everything we do or say, we have a choice. Even when your child is intensely emotional or explosive — you have a choice in how you respond. You can react in kind and prolong the battle, or you can respond calmly and purposefully to help your child and protect your relationship with them. I'm talking with Deborah Ann Davis, author of “How to Keep Your Daughter from Slamming the Door,” about the superpower of choice all parents possess. Learn how the choices you make in interactions with your children affect their behavior and your relationship.

On January 11 2017, Ann Davis received a powerful dream and vision from God revealing great catastrophes coming upon the United States of America as a direct result of the Middle East Peace Conference that was held in January 2017 in Paris. She was shown what happens there would be done "underground," in secret, hidden from public view. Her dream reveals this conference marks a major crossroad in world history, a turning point leading us into a new era. As the primary instigator behind the scenes in crafting and promoting the December 23 2016 United Nations Security Council resolution to divide Israel, the United States faces severe consequences ahead. My guest is Carol Ann Davis. Her new book The Nail in the Tree (https://www.amazon.com/Nail-Tree-Essays-Violence-Childhood/dp/1946482269) narrates her experience of raising two sons in Sandy Hook, Connecticut, on the day of and during the aftermath of the shooting there. Part memoir, part art-historical treatise, these meditations lead her to explore crucial subjects, including whether childhood can itself be both violent and generative, the possibility of the integration of trauma into daily life and artistic practice, and the role of the artist. Davis is the author of two previous poetry collections, Psalm (2007) and Atlas Hour (2011), both from Tupelo Press, and a professor of English at Fairfield University. Special Guest: Carol Ann Davis.

Lana Turmaq (Melanie Ann Davis) is very rich. And has also found the body of her personal assistant in her aquarium. Naked, with a spy pen, and many celebrity voiced fish. And when guest co-host Matt McCready leaves, one of Lana's clocks comes in with some rhymes, and some contradictory information.

There are SO many people (me included), that love to travel. I know I have a list of about 100 places I’d love to see in my lifetime… but there are so many factors that can hold us back from actually getting on a plane and going somewhere. You know, things like time, money, and JOBS. Those pesky jobs keeping us from being a jetsetter… it’s as though we have to pick one or the other. A job or travel… But what if you could do BOTH? What if you could travel and see the world, AND make a positive social impact, while also working? My guest this week is Ann Davis, the founder and CEO of Venture With Impact - a coworking program that engages professionals on a 4-week-skills-based volunteering program ABROAD while working remotely for their jobs, allowing them to develop professionally, rediscover purpose, and in the process, provide a positive social impact. ABOUT ANN: After surviving cancer and subsequently traveling to over 40 countries in her 20’s, Ann found her most valuable and fulfilling travel experiences to be the instances when she stayed in one place, and worked with the local population – forming relationships and learning about their culture in the process. At the same time, she saw friends and colleagues struggle between the desire to maintain careers that provide financial security and the desire to travel and work for the social good. Life is too short not to have it all, so she founded Venture with Impact with the dream that working professionals could share in these same experiences while still working from their jobs. Prior to founding Venture with Impact, she worked for 4 years as a teacher in the New Orleans and New York school systems, initially through Teach for America. Additionally, at the age of 18, she founded Swim for Success, a nonprofit dedicated to providing free swimming lessons and water safety skills to New Orleans Youth. Welcome to the York Story Slam podcast, where we feature select stories from our monthly open mic storytelling events in York, Pennsylvania. On April 18th, twelve storytellers shared their stories with our audience at Holy Hound Taproom in downtown York. Our theme for the evening was The Great Outdoors. We heard stories about outdoor activities like camping, fishing, kayaking, caving, skydiving, and visits to national parks. Allison Witherow won with her story about her family learning to live on a 40-acre farm. (There was a small audio hiccup at the start of Allison's story, so the podcast picks up at Allison's introduction). Next up is Sarah Doherty. Sarah recalled the family camping trip that nearly broke her father. Our final story on this month’s podcast comes from Ann Davis, who shared a bit about her parenting style, which includes education by travel and experiential learning. Tickets for our events are available on our website and while you’re there, you can sign up for our monthly newsletter. You can also follow us on twitter, Facebook, and watch videos of all the stories from our events on our YouTube channel. Our podcast is produced with support from The Beer Ace. This episode comes to you with support from this month’s featured brewery partner, Great Lakes Brewing Company. We hope to see you on stage soon! Thanks for listening.

This presentation includes specific ideas, tips, and mini lessons centered on the pedagogical use of web 2.0 tools. All teachers need ways to easily and effectively weave these tools into the curriculum/instruction. These are quick takes on an activity that could be done with the tools in an engaging way. Most are quick, easy to implement and designed to have beginning web 2.0 teachers feel “Yeah, I could do that!” Those of us who have been using the tools could think “Yeah, what a great idea. I’m going to do that too!” or “I know just the teacher who would love trying this!”
