The Kindred Life Podcast is an absolute gem that I stumbled upon after hearing the host, Christine, on another podcast. Immediately drawn to her warm and inviting personality, I swiftly made my way to her website, purchased her book "The Kindred Life," and became a loyal subscriber to her podcast. As a fellow Christian, I appreciate that Christine shares her faith and values with her listeners. Being a Middle Tennessee resident myself, it's also exciting to know that one day I may have the opportunity to visit her farm. That would truly be a blessing! Trust me when I say that you won't regret subscribing to this podcast; in fact, you'll be blessed by it.

One of the best aspects of The Kindred Life Podcast is Christine herself. Her passion for what she does shines through in every episode. She is genuine, authentic, and truly cares about bringing beauty into the world and sharing it with others. Her book, "The Kindred Life," is an absolute joy to read, and it's clear that she pours her heart into everything she creates. Additionally, Christine goes above and beyond to engage with her listeners. She personally reached out to me when I left a review and even walked me through the steps with pictures! This level of care and dedication is truly remarkable.

In terms of drawbacks, there really aren't any major ones that come to mind. Some listeners might prefer more diversity in the topics discussed on the podcast or more varied guests being interviewed. However, since Christine's focus is on encouraging others through nature and simple living, these might not be areas where she feels compelled to explore extensively. It really depends on personal preferences and interests.

In conclusion, The Kindred Life Podcast is a must-listen for anyone seeking inspiration, encouragement, and a deeper connection with themselves and the world around them. Listening to Christine speak brings a sense of calmness and beauty into my life even amidst all its struggles. Her stories, insights, and outdoor episodes allow me to slow down, appreciate the goodness in life, and focus on what truly matters. I highly recommend this delightful podcast; it's like receiving a warm hug from a dear friend every time you listen. Thank you, Christine, for the time and thoughtfulness you put into each episode!

    Be Delighted

What is delightful about your life? Your spouse? Your children? Your home? Sometimes it's easier to go through our days with a spirit of dread rather than delight, especially in the midst of seasons that feel really heavy. Being delighted means choosing to embrace wonder. To exchange a spirit of heaviness for buoyancy. To let ourselves have fun. To be reminded of the beautiful things about this world, even in the midst of hard times.  We all need this. In this episode, I share a story about a time I realized I was living in dread instead of delight and how I shifted my perspective. I also share a gratefulness practice at the end and lots of gardening inspo! For a breath of fresh air, listen in! If you're loving this podcast, PLEASE take a moment to leave us a 5-star review. Cultivating a Unique Family Culture with Christy Crosby

How can we create an intentional, life-giving culture of connection in our home that is unique to our family? How can we parent from a place of confidence rather than fear of messing up our kids, or of the world messing up our kids? My dear friend of 28 years, Christy Crosby, rejoins me on this episode where we come back together to share some ideas on shaping a unique and healthy family culture in our homes. We cover all different ages and stages of childhood, through teen years and even into young adulthood. Moms, we can make it through the hard seasons of parenting. We can reject the narrative that parenting teenagers or toddlers (or whatever you want to insert here!) is something to dread. We can live in joy and carve out the lives we want for our families. You all loved episode 18 where Christy and I discussed cultivating deeper friendships, and there are SO many more gems in this episode you won't want to miss! Just a few of the questions/topics we cover in this episode: How being curious about your children involves them in the process of creating a unique family culture How to reclaim some ground if you're not happy with the family culture you've been building Establishing a team mentality within your family, even as you celebrate each unique individual Tips for building trust and having hard conversations with our kids Parenting with the end in mind Parenting from proactivity rather than reactivity We end with some prompts to reflect upon as you shape a unique family culture in your home. If you want to GROW and find encouragement on your parenting journey, JOIN US! Christy Crosby serves on the staff of Grace Community Church in Clarksville, TN in women's ministry and outreach and on the MomLife Ministries Board of Directors as President. She's been married for 23 years to her high school sweetheart and is a mom of two - a daughter who is a college sophomore and a son who is a high school freshman. She finds so much joy in this season of parenting and describes herself as a life-long learner who loves to read, listen to podcasts, and ask questions about all the things. Christy loves finding God's beauty in the arts, so she's always up for a good concert or theatre production. On a rainy day you can find her knitting with a cup of good coffee.  ~ ~ ~ ~ SHOW NOTES: Ep. 18: Cultivating Deeper Friendships with Christy Crosby 1000 Hours Outside Podcast Ep. 92: Make Real Life Compelling with Andy Crouch, The Tech Wise Family “Lean In” Instagram post by Brighter Day Press MomLife Website MomLife Instagram MomLife Facebook Go to this episode's blog post for photos and more at ChristineMarieBailey.com/blog. This is not what I planned to release this week, but it's what's on my heart immediately after the Covenant School shooting which directly touches so many of my friends here in Nashville. It's also what I've been wanting to share about suffering in general, as so many people around me are walking through hard things. We will all at certain times have the privilege of being “reservoirs of compassion for those who are bruised” (Psalm 84), and at other times, we will be the ones who need comforting. As we experience suffering in our midst, this episode is here for you, whenever you need it. ~ ~ ~ ~ SHOW NOTES: Daystar Counseling  The Refuge Center for Counseling Sissy Goff Instagram To Light Their Way: A Collection of Prayers and Liturgies for Parents by Kayla Craig Every Moment Holy Vol. 2: Death, Grief, and Hope Let There Be Art by Rachel Marie Kang --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thekindredlife/message

We all want to be loved and known in friendships. And also? Friendships are hard. For this special episode, one of my dearest friends in the entire world, Christy Crosby, joins me in the barn studio! And we're chatting about everything we've learned in our unlikely 28-year-long (!) friendship that started in college when a country music-loving Tennessee cowgirl met a rap music-loving Jersey girl. Christy and I have a lot to share from our friendship that spans several states, seasons, and life stages. Our hope is that YOU can take some of these ideas and cultivate deeper friendships where you are. Just a few of the questions we answer in this episode: What characteristics make a really strong friendship? What does “mature transparency” look like in friendships? What do you do when it seems like everyone else already has their people, and you don't? How to keep a friendship going with longevity, even if you're in different life stages Why some friendships are cultivated more like annual plants and some more like perennials Why I wore such an embarrassing Halloween costume our freshman year at Belmont

Audacity = "a willingness to take bold risks." Without some audacity, we won't ever take the steps that are needed to bring our visions and gifts to the world. We must have faith and belief that there is room in the world for what we've each been given to grow and create…even through the struggle, uncertainty, and scars we'll experience along the way. In this episode, I share a quote from a memoir that inspired me, my own  “Ode to the Growing Season,” and some prompts to help you build a nourishing vision in your own life, right where you are. When is the last time you thought about your own two hands and how they help you function in the world? Have you even looked at them lately? After a day of starting spring seeds here on the farm, I'm reflecting on the balance of work, rest and play: we can get our hands dirty and also stop to find healing, slowness, and nourishment. I share a personal story about learning to care better for myself when it's so easy to just keep plowing through. From gardening, to taking care of our children or homes, to fun hobbies, to all the work set before us, our hands do so much. We need to stop and see the purpose in that. LISTEN IN, and take a few moments with me to stop, notice, and dream! If you're loving this podcast, PLEASE take a moment to leave us a 5-star review. Pruning can be painful, but what if the pruning is uncovering beauty that's been there all along but just hidden by unnecessary or unhealthy things? None of us wants to go through the discomfort of being pruned, but sometimes we need to eliminate some things to make room, to let our lives breathe. As we approach early spring, it's time to prune our fruit trees on the farm. In this episode, I share a story from the day one of our larger trees got pruned and the deeper, important lessons I learned that day. We look at how pruning could be removing good branches now to make way for more health and fruitfulness in the future. And as usual, we have a gratefulness practice at the end that will leave you with an opportunity to see the small moments of joy in your everyday life. For a breath of fresh inspiration, listen in!

When is a time you felt really “seen?” In this episode, we explore the topic of vulnerability and how we can “host” people by showing up in our raw, authentic selves. Showing up in our vulnerability imparts a gift. And it opens us up to see other people who might be getting lost in the crowd. In the name of vulnerability, I share a kinda embarrassing story about when I met one of my favorite authors, what I learned, and what I would have done differently if I'd had the chance.

In this episode, I share 3 challenges that have helped me to sharpen my voice, a favorite St. Augustine poem, and as usual, a gratefulness practice at the end that will leave you with a breath of fresh inspiration.
