In Ireland, Mother's Day is this Sunday, March 22nd 2020. At a time like this – when the world is turned upside down, we should never fall short of gratitude. In particular, for our loved ones. During this world pandemic, I'm currently not with my mom. I'm in Ireland and she's in Canada: we're oceans away. This podcast episode is for the ones without their mother's warmth this Sunday. This is for the people who are isolating with their mother but find tension and disconnect because they haven't spent a lot of time with their family during school and work – up until now. Or maybe their mother isn't with them. And that's all. This podcast episode is for my mom, and your mom, and anyone that has raised you to be the person you are today – and to send a message that we are always connected, no matter where we are in the world or in life.

Imposter Syndrome is GOOD for you - How to BE the RIGHT version of you without feeling FAKE.

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 23, 2019 19:26

What did you think you were really good at - until you saw someone who was *actually* really good at it? What are the RIGHT questions to ask yourself when you feel you're not good enough, when you feel you're a fraud, when you feel like someone is going to expose you and find out you're not as awesome as they think you are? Why is imposter syndrome GOOD for you? How to deal with imposter syndrome - big takeaways: You don't owe anyone an explanation of your expertise. People question if you're qualified? Why do they need to know? If you're certain what you're offering or who you are drives results, that's all that matters.   You can't please everyone – there's some stuff I say online that people disagree with. My parents disagree with me on things. I'm sure there are others who think I overshare or post too much on my stories. But I don't say ‘F you and what you think'. That's just disrespectful and unnecessary. I say ‘Cool. I respect everyone's opinion, even if you disagree. Thank you for being honest and I'm keeping doing what's good for me and what feels true or real to me. I choose to care more about my values than others.' And I move on with my merry way.   Imposter Syndrome is HEALTHY – if we all believed in ourselves 100% of the time, the world would fall apart because as order brings chaos, and chaos brings orders, we'd all have entitlement up our ass' and think we're the best. But with everyone being the best, the best becomes the norm and no one is really the best. ------- If you liked this episode or it helped you, I want to hear it!
