Your two newest favorite idiots, Cory the Common Idiot and Kent the Doctor Idiot take on a myriad of pet topics in a (sorta) weekly podcast. They’ll make you laugh, they might make you cry, they might even make you cringe, but hopefully, you’ll learn something about the furriest and favorite part of your family. If you are looking for intelligent and linear discussions, clean vocabularies, and ground breaking content, this podcast isn’t for you. If you want the feel like you’re sitting around a table, picking up a little knowledge and sharing a laugh whilst sharing a beverage with friends, pull up a proverbial seat and listen in. Be an idiot with them. While Dr Kent is a real veterinarian, this show does not constitute a doctor/patient relationship. “Vet Med For Idiots By Idiots” is designed to bring light and educate on multiple topics, not to diagnose, advise, or create a treatment plan. Please always consult your local veterinarian for any and all care specific to your pet.

Welcome back to another riveting episode where the boys inevitably get distracted and go on tangents. However, along the way, the Idiots talk noses. You know, snoots, boopers, snozzes, sniffers, cold wet presses...the list goes on. Learn about some of the super amazing functions of the nose, why they're better with theirs than you'll ever be with yours, and imagine being able to see the world by scent. Also, there were supposed to be some links for references, but you'll have to google that yourself because Cory lost the list and doesn't feel like hearing Kent complain. Again. So, the research is from blubity bloo. Trust me, that will make sense in the context of the episode. Also, if you listen closely, you can hear the cameo of multiple birds on the window bird feeder adding their two cents to the conversation. No one asked, though. Very pushy, insistant, really.

In what many are calling the greatest trilogy of all time, better than the Lort of Da Rings, Star Warz, Goodfadder, and Alans, the Idiots bring their journey to an end. In this, they discuss French Bulldogs, who were thiiiiiiissssss close to being extinct, and how some lady I'm too lazy to go back and listen or look up saved them. She's a hero, though. They talk again about selective breeding, and how even foxes have been bred to be closer to dogs, and slowly develop floppy ears in place of their pointy ears. Also, seriously, go look up rose eared Frenchies. Seriously, go. You're welcome.

Part 1 is the discussion of wolves, specifically a breed of wolf that no longer is on this planet, most likely because it assimilated quietly into modern dogs. They talk of how dogs spread throughout the world, the cause of them joining human ranks, why a symbiotic relationship was so important it came to what we have today, and discuss other things, like ring evolution (editors note, Cory talks about birds on Darwin Island and erroneously refers to them as wrens, but they were actually finches) and selective breeding for working needs.

Don't try to guilt trip. They're doing the best they can for your pets, and you being a monster is going to only make the animal suffer. These vets are humans. Also, as they are humans, do remember there are established boundaries that must be kept. Remember, if you don't pay your bill, you're not just scum, they know where you live. Doctors often have a huge degree (no pun intended) of debt they come out of vet school with to keep your pet alive and being the best version of themselves. If you are facing hardships, google is your best friend. There are often clinics and resources in the community that can help with low income families with veterinary care. Some food banks actually have pet medicine and food, as well. People care about your dogs and cats and other animals. Please, if you cannot afford the proper care for your pet, wait rather than letting them suffer with mediocre care, and add to your family when you can properly afford them, but should hardships strike, know there are resources that can help, both for you and your pets. Call 211, your local United Way resource, and they may be able to help. And again, google is an amazing resource. The Common Idiot uses it often to find resources for his clients in his regular job.

This weeks episode brings the Doctors Fernandez (@thedoctorsfernandez) who discusses mixed animal clinics, what it takes to work on a kangaroo and an owl, why you should learn to duck faster if you are castrating a bull, and why they are an incredible resource for all the young Pre-Vet Med Idiots out there. Also, Kent and Cory say some stuff, but does anyone really listen when they talk?

In today's episode, The Idiots speak with Melissa Sluiter, parent of the first FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) patient Dr. Kent saw beat the odds and survive. FIP has historically been the kiss of death, and now, with pushes from brave owners like Melissa and Idiot Doctors like Kent, it is both survivable, and 100% legal in the US.  The actions described in this episode might be fictitious in nature, and are in no way condoning breaking any laws, even if it means the survival of your furry child If you are a cat parent dealing with FIP, please consult the following on social medias; -FIP Global CATS -FIP Warriors 5.0 -US Based Stokes Pharmacy, in partnership with BOVA, who now offers legal treatment for FIP with GS-441524 -Dr. Niels Pedersen at UC Davis -SOCK FIP

The Idiots discuss holistic medicine (not the pseudoscience “crystals and burning sage” version, but the whole body mentality) with Dr. Tim Combs, whose resume puts most people to shame. He's certified in basically everything, so he's the Everything Idiot. Discussions in this episode include lasers, acupuncture, rehabilitation, penis jokes, dog massages, and the metal scene. Oh, and Combs is the founder of an emo metal pet clothing company, Disgust Clothing. Apologies, there was something in the recording that caused interference. The sound editor did the best he could do, but The Idiots only pay him nothing. They say it's intern work, and builds character. Cheap pricks!

The Idiots talk about their dogs, both here today and living immortalized in their minds, in a rather emotional and heartfelt episode. Brief stories and anecdotes fill an hour and half episode that easily could have been 3 days if The Idiots were allotted the time to give the honor these pets deserve. Gain insight into some of the muttly crew that is often heard in episodes barking, claw tap tap tapping as they walk around, or that weird sound the Mutie makes. Join The Idiots in getting in all the feels.

The Idiots host another vet, Dr Erin, who works exclusively with large animals, especially the edible kind. They discuss the common day for the Large Animal Idiot, emergencies, animal dongs, and why you shouldn't let your chickens play with other chickens! This one is a little extra NSFW.

The Idiots host Melinda, the Rescue Idiot, who schools the boys on shelter life, rescues, and dives into how these worlds collide. Hear stories from the inside, a dabble into the shady side of shelters, and learn that kill shelters aren't necessarily bad, nor are non-kill shelters inherently good. Editor's note, this episode sucked because Dr. Kent had a pen for the entire show and clicked it nearly 18,000 times in an hour and a half. He is no longer allowed to have a pen.
