Macy Maxson did not intend to become a lightning rod pushing back on the gender ideology agenda that has infiltrated so much of society, even feminine hygiene products. But when Maxon founded Garnuu, a tampon subscription company, in 2022, she wanted to affirm biological reality. “From the beginning,” Maxson says she decided her company would stand firm on the fact “that only women can get periods.” After Maxson launcher Garnuu, Tampax started using transgender activists, such as Dylan Mulvaney, to promote its products. Maxson said she watched as other tampon companies began moving away from feminine branding and word choice in product promotion, but Garnuu branded itself as a “girls only club.” That simple statement cost Maxson some customers who claimed stating that only women get periods was not loving. “We're just calling it a ‘girls only club' and it's just truth,” Maxson said. “How is that not loving? But OK, whatever, so then I just ran with it.” While some took offense to Maxson's firm position on biology, many more celebrated the way Garnuu upholds the dignity of women, leading to the small companies' growth. Garnuu customers are so “supportive” that Maxson says she quit her 9-5 job and is leading the rapidly growing company full time. Maxson joins “Problematic Women” at the Conservative Political Action Conference to discuss the challenges and rewards of launching a company, and her commitment to truth. Maxson also explains the value of cycle syncing, a process in which women strategically work with their bodies as hormone levels rise and fall during their cycle. Also on today's show, Alexo Athletica CEO Amy Robbins joins “Problematic Women.” Alexo Athletica is a conceal carry conducive athletic clothing brand. After the recent, tragic abduction and murder of a young wife and mother, it's safe to say that women across the nation are collectively on edge. The realization that when out for a run, or simply out and about, we may find ourselves powerless against a perpetrator is terrifying. Today's guest, Amy Robbins, is on a mission to inspire women to take their power back and rely on no one but themselves when it comes to safety. While hosting several national lifestyle TV shows, Amy Robbins developed a passion for seeing women everywhere live a confident, self-reliant lifestyle. Amy created Alexo Athletica in 2017 after being harassed while training for a marathon. At that time there was no product on the market that met her need to feel fashionable while carrying a self defense tool in active wear. Amy is absolutely incredible, and her message of being prepared and learning self-defense is an absolute necessity for women. After experiencing a threatening situation while training alone on a backroad for a marathon, Texas-based Amy Robbins wished there was women's athletic apparel that could accommodate tools for self-defense, be it a taser, pepper spray, or a pistol. (And, she thought, why not also have room for your phone, car keys, and a tampon?) When she realized nothing like this existed, she seized the opportunity and created Alexo Athletica (meaning to ‘defend and help') in 2017. Now more than a fashionable carry-wear line, Alexo has built serious momentum on the waves of the #MeToo movement, educating on women's empowerment and safety. How do you carry a firearm with confidence and still slay it, fashionably speaking? A question like that easily conjures images of Lara Croft or Alice, but it touches on something that is of real concern for women – and even men – who want to work out comfortably and safely. Whatever your opinion about guns, the need for personal protection is real, and it weighs upon more people than you think, especially women. However, most of the women's apparel in the market is not specifically designed for women who want to conceal protective devices on their person comfortably. Amy Robbins solves this through Alexo Athletica, a unique women's apparel company dedicated to defend women and help them find the confidence to live and protect themselves as they see fit. It is certainly a brave step at a time when the gun question evokes so much passion across demographics. In this conversation with Rob Cornilles, Amy talks about the driving factors that led her to embark on this unique crusade.
