UTD Podcast co-hosts Helen Evans and Sam Homewood travelled to Bilbao, Spain, to catch up with Ander Herrera, whose honesty and passion led to one of our best-ever episodes. The former Reds midfielder speaks fondly about his childhood as the son of a professional footballer and sporting director, before recounting his first spell as an Athletic Club player – which included their famous Europa League victories over Sir Alex Ferguson's United in 2011/12. Herrera describes his 2014 transfer to Old Trafford in amazing detail and dissects his five popular seasons as a Red, offering amazing observations of former managers Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer along the way. Then comes the touching moment he breaks down in tears, when discussing his difficult decision to leave the club for Paris Saint-Germain in 2019. After three seasons in France, Ander is back in the Basque country with his beloved Athletic Club and their magnificent San Mames Stadium is the backdrop for our unmissable conversation. If you'd like to write to the only official Manchester United Podcast then e-mail utdpodcast@manutd.co.uk And if you'd like to listen through our back-catalogue, the best place to do that is over on the Manchester United App, where you can listen to and watch all of our episodes in full for free!

When Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, admitted that he didn't know how he was going to stop Paris Saint-Germain's front three of Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and Neymar Jr., many dismissed the comment, but as it turns out, he was right. On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by James Ridge from the PSG Unrestricted podcast to discuss PSG's 2-0 win over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League. If you're a PSG supporter, you know it's difficult to find insightful commentary, in English, about PSG, so make sure to give them a follow and subscribe to their podcast. We begin this episode with James sharing his overall thoughts on the win that wasn't as convincing as the scoreline might indicate. PSG was put under pressure by City for most of the night, but as James states, it was a real statement of intent for what is to come throughout the rest of the season. Next, we highlight the midfield trio of Idrissa Gueye, Ander Herrera, and Marco Verratti. They were instrumental in the performance and without their defensive determination, City could have gone on to win this match. Gueye stood out especially with a goal in the eighth minute, but later in the first half, he was on the receiving end of a reckless challenge from Kevin De Bruyne. The City star only received a yellow card for the tackle but we discuss whether he should have been sent off immediately. Moving on from the midfield, we address the performance of PSG's three superstars: Mbappé, Messi, and Neymar. While Messi did score his first goal since arriving from FC Barcelona, the performance from MNM didn't live up to expectations. What changes does Mauricio Pochettino need to make to unlock their potential? Later in the show, we praise PSG's defense, which stood strong against City's waves of attacks, and debate whether or not Gianluigi Donnarumma has won the starting goalkeeper role over Keylor Navas. We wrap up the show by having a laugh at our La Liga friends who had a difficult week in the Champions League and I ask James about how he became a PSG fan and if he's seeing more PSG kits in England. As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts. We're also on Discord! Paris Saint-Germain are undefeated since the start of the new season, but you would hardly guess that by the reaction of many supporters who want to see more from this super team. On this episode of The 1970 (recorded last Sunday prior to the win over Olympique Lyonnais), Marc Damon is joined by fellow PSG Talk contributor, James Teague, to recap the disappointing 1-1 draw against Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League. James kicks things off with his thoughts on the match, which saw Ander Herrera give PSG the early lead only to see Brugge equalize before halftime. The draw felt like a loss for PSG, and fans were left wondering how a team with so much firepower could look so impotent. The issues are plenty, as Marc points out. The midfield lacks a defensive presence, especially with Leandro Paredes on the pitch. With PSG's attack-minded full-backs, the defense was left exposed and with very little coverage, Brugge found success in the attack. PSG's offense wasn't much better. Neymar Jr., Kylian Mbappé, and Lionel Messi all started, but PSG only managed to record nine total shots with four on target. With the offense and defense struggling, all eyes turn to Mauricio Pochettino who is still figuring things out to put it kindly. There's a lot of quality in the squad, but right now, it's difficult to explain what PSG's identity is, and with two games against Manchester City coming up, supporters are desperate to see improvement. As the guys explain, the draw against Brugge will either be a wake-up call for PSG to sort things out or, foreshadowing of the drumming that City will lay upon Les Parisiens. Let's hope Pochettino can unlock PSG's potential quick, fast, and in a hurry. As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts.
