Síðan þá hefur Steinunn einnig rekið verslun í verbúðunum á Granda, þar sem hún framleiðir í takt við eftirspurn vel sniðin föt úr hágæðaefnum. Hún segist lifa í núinu þökk sé fjölfötluðum syni sem hefur kennt henni meira um lífið en allt annað, hún klæðist ull frá toppi til táar alla daga, allan ársins hring og helst bara svörtu.

Justine Fontaine et Achim Lippold, du service International de RFI, se sont rendus dans la capitale haïtienne où ils ont rencontré des femmes victimes de viols commis par ces groupes criminels. Le phénomène n'est pas nouveau, mais il tend à s'aggraver. S'il est difficile d'obtenir des chiffres précis sur le nombre de viols commis en Haïti, le travail des associations haïtiennes ou des organisations internationales permet d'avoir des estimations. Médecins sans frontières a ainsi publié, il y a quelques semaines, un rapport à partir des cas recensés dans une de ses cliniques spécialisées à Port-au-Prince, un centre qu'elle considère comme un baromètre de la situation. « Entre 2022 et 2025, les cas ont triplé, rapporte Diana Manilla Arroyo, cheffe de mission de MSF en Haïti. Cela coïncide avec le début de la crise déclenchée par l'assassinat du président Jovenel Moïse et les affrontements entre groupes armés, et ceux avec l'État. » Impunité Une autre raison qui pousse les survivantes de viol à garder le silence, c'est l'impunité, explique Justine Fontaine, du service International de RFI. Et quand malgré tous ces obstacles les survivantes portent plainte, il est rare que ça aboutisse. En 2022, le Bureau des avocats internationaux en Haïti avait comptabilisé seulement dix plaintes de violences sexuelles ayant abouti à un procès, sur plus de 500 dossiers que ses avocates avaient pris en charge. Mais un procès ne signifie pas forcément condamnation. Et lorsqu'il y a condamnation, elle n'est pas nécessairement à la hauteur des faits. Il y a quelques mois, un cas de viol sur mineur de moins de 15 ans qui, normalement, est passible de la perpétuité en Haïti avait donné lieu à une peine de seulement cinq ans de prison. Se pose aussi la question des grossesses non désirées. Les organisations de défense des droits des femmes manquent de moyens, notamment depuis la fermeture de l'agence de développement américaine, l'Usaid, par Donald Trump l'an dernier (2025). Certaines associations ont dû fermer des centres d'hébergement ou licencier du personnel. Il y a aussi eu une baisse des moyens pour la contraception. Le Chili change de président Au Chili, c'est aujourd'hui que se tient l'investiture du président élu Jose Antonio Kast.  La Tercera se penche sur le bilan du chef de l'État sortant Gabriel Boric. Pour le quotidien, il est loin d'être glorieux. Sur le plan politique, le quotidien retient que la principale réalisation de Gabriel Boric, la réforme des retraites, n'a pu aboutir qu'après avoir été en partie vidée de sa substance. Autre point noir : sa formation de gauche quitte le pouvoir après avoir subi la plus grosse défaite électorale depuis 1990, avec seulement 42% des voix lors de la présidentielle. Sur le plan économique, c'est encore pire, relève La Tercera, Avec la deuxième croissance, la plus faible depuis le retour de la démocratie, il y a 36 ans. Mais aussi avec un déficit structurel record pour une période sans crise. Ce qui fait dire à José Antonio Kast que le pays « tombe en ruines ». Mais le nouveau président le promet : le « Chili est de retour ». Sauf que les défis qui l'attendent sont nombreux. Proceso, au Mexique, en dresse la liste. Une économie à redresser, un sentiment d'insécurité à apaiser, avec un Chili qui oscille entre la première et la troisième place mondiale en termes de perception de l'insécurité depuis 2024. Sur la scène internationale, Jose Antonio Kast va devoir aussi ménager la chèvre et le chou : contenter Donald Trump qui veut lutter contre l'influence chinoise en Amérique latine sans contrarier Pékin. Et pour Proceso, ça semble déjà mal parti : Xi Jinping a décidé d'envoyer son ministre du Logement pour représenter la Chine à la cérémonie d'investiture.
