fictional character from Avatar: The Last Airbender

Send us a textRepublic City stands at a crossroads. Seventy years after Avatar Aang ended the Hundred Year War, his successor Korra finds herself facing a threat unlike anything the world has seen before – a charismatic revolutionary who can permanently strip people of their bending abilities. This debut season of Legend of Korra brilliantly expands the Avatar universe through stunning animation, complex characters, and surprisingly mature themes. While many fans approach Korra with comparisons to The Last Airbender, we explore why this series deserves appreciation on its own merits. The show's gorgeous art-deco inspired visuals and fluid bending choreography represent a significant evolution in animation quality, creating fight scenes that remain breathtaking more than a decade after they first aired. What sets Legend of Korra apart is its willingness to let its protagonist fail repeatedly. Unlike Aang, who gradually mastered elements throughout his journey, Korra begins proficient in three elements but struggles with the spiritual side of being the Avatar. Her journey isn't about gaining power but understanding its purpose. When Amon successfully strips Korra of her bending abilities, the show makes a bold statement about vulnerability and resilience that resonates far beyond its target audience. The Equalist movement raises uncomfortable questions about privilege in the Avatar world. Are non-benders truly equal in a society where bending brings immense advantages? Amon's methods are extreme, but his movement's grievances aren't entirely unfounded. This moral complexity elevates the storytelling beyond simple hero-villain dynamics into something more thought-provoking.Whether you're revisiting Republic City or considering your first journey into Korra's world, this season offers a compelling, self-contained story while setting up threads that will evolve throughout the series. Listen as we break down why Legend of Korra deserves recognition as one of animation's most ambitious achievements – a show that respected its audience enough to tackle complex themes while delivering spectacular entertainment.Twitter handles:Project Geekology: https://twitter.com/pgeekologyAnthony's Twitter: https://twitter.com/odysseyswowDakota's Twitter: https://twitter.com/geekritique_dakInstagram:https://instagram.com/projectgeekology?igshid=1v0sits7ipq9yYouTube:https://www.youtube.com/@projectgeekologyGeekritique (Dakota):https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBwciIqOoHwIx_uXtYTSEbATwitch (Anthony):https://www.twitch.tv/odysseywowSupport the show
Check it out! https://polyinnovator.space/tag/newsletter/00:00Did you know that I have a Polymathy newsletter where I talk about different aspects of the world of polymaths and just having the life of polymaths? It's called the Journey to Polymath. While the name has changed a little bit over the years, the Journey to Polymathy being kind of the former one, I wanted to talk and create content around the topic of polymathy. So I changed the niche for Polyinnovator this year.00:25to be knowledge management for polymath because I was talking about polymathy and knowledge management as like two separate things when in reality it was like a DNA strand very close together. However, I still wanted to have a separate series purely for the polymathy and this is where that newsletter comes in. I'm looking at about 78 posts at this point. I actually had two tags on my website, one for kind of like polymathy and one for the newsletter and I realized I needed to just send them together.00:54posts that I've made. And I also wanted to talk about the future of the newsletter and the importance of it. And so this is kind of like an update of the Polyamorous Web site, just so you know too. That's what this is about. Because I had around three newsletters on this site for a long time. I had my swimming newsletter, which I have since depreciated, at least for now. And then I had the polymorphic newsletter, of course. And I had the content repurposing newsletter, or just being a content creator, which has moved now to the new website. And so now I went from having three to just one.01:24which overly simplifies it, which is great. That way when you go on the site and you sign up, you're only signing up for that one newsletter, which I think helps simplify the process for a lot of people who might be interested. Because if you're listening to the Polymath Polycast, I presume to some degree you're interested in this multidisciplinary life. So part of the point of this was to have the SEO aspect of Polymathy being like my main niche. I wanted to bring people in based on different topics. And so one thing I'm doing right now, actually going forward, is about one every other week or so.01:52I'm going to be doing a post related to a video that I found on this kind of topic. So one of the more recent ones was how to manage multiple hobbies. Considering that's a very impactful idea towards people who are polymathic and multidisciplinary, I wanted to help, you know, guide and add my own two cents based on this topic from this video that someone else had made. And that way more people could check out that cool video and creator. The next one is an open letter to multidisciplinary where I wanted to just, I wanted to people realize that like, hey,02:21It's okay to be multidisciplinary, here's a various amount of terms you can use to describe yourself and this is kind of like my opening statement to people. And then the other thing is like this polycast show. Right now I'm doing a solo cast but the other half of it is interviews and a lot of people think you have to be a polymath to come on the show but you don't have to. So I made a post on this newsletter talking about that where if you're polymathic and you think that you fit the bill then reach out to me and we can have you on the show. And then again managing multiple interests.02:49One post that I thought was really interesting because a lot of people don't talk about it, if you live long enough, you'll become a polymath because generally speaking, your hobbies become careers, your careers become hobbies, and this overall you end up having multiple disciplines over the course of your life. And there's a couple other response posts like there was a r slash polymath on Reddit where I wanted to kind of talk about like the importance of that subreddit. Another one is the Hello Generalist website, and they have a manifesto for generalists. And I wanted to talk about that.03:17And then I wanted to talk about being a content creator, a polymath content creator, so there's a few posts around that. Some other posts I think would be really interesting for a lot of you is time blocking for polymaths or macro focus for polymaths, micro focus from polymaths. And so there's a lot of these different posts that are SEO focused, like a life OS for polymaths, where I wanted to get people who were looking for a life OS to see that, but really in reality, this helps people in general who are in this polymathy world.03:45And so there's a lot of different posts. I'm only halfway through scrolling through this, looking at this, but like defining polymathy uncategorized, which is like a new way of thinking. Like we don't need to be in boxes anymore. And then part of actually what started this newsletter was this idea of leveling up to polymath, hence the journey aspect. And so I had this idea of the multidisciplinary spectrum, which I need to make a new post about actually here soon. And the idea of leveling up on that spectrum to polymathy. So I have a lot of posts talking about leveling up.04:15Specialist or generalist or renaissance people to polymathy. That's just how that was an interesting idea. So there's a number of posts with that kind of format and like jack-of-all-trades, for example. The other thing that I think is really interesting is two paths to becoming a polymath. One being juggling and one being serialized. And so this two pathway approach, I think that people interleave them a lot more than people realize, but there's also this matter of fact of like, hey, at some point you might actually be doing one or the other and you might need to focus on that a bit more.04:45I also wanted to talk about this internet renaissance, digital renaissance. So there's posts like that. There's the idea of essentially at the century of the specialist. And now we're going to be going into the century of the generalist is a future post I'm going to be making. And I have so many ideas, folks, for this show. I'm not sure what newsletter and I'm making a lot of mistakes today, but I'm just going off the cuff because the idea behind a lot of these posts I'm so excited about and so like the Da Vinci principle, think like a polymath.05:12There's a lot of amazing posts in this newsletter that no one's really reading enough of. And so there's actually one about Miyamoto Mushashi, who is a lone samurai, who is a very prime example of a polymath that a lot of people just didn't know about. And this is actually one of my PolyPro posts, so it is a specialized post that people can read, but the idea was talking about this really interesting person. And so most of the posts are actually going to be free, but there are a couple...05:3999% of the posts would be free but there are a couple paid posts. And so I wanted to give people a warning about that because if you are part of the Polypro you can read them but otherwise. I think there's only like 3 on this list that are actually paid. The rest of them are all free. And even talking about really unique characters like Avatar Aang from The Last Airbender. He is a polymath because he had to master 4 elements in a young age. That's 4 different specialties right there. And then just definitions, talking about Ada Lovelace. I'm just going through the whole list here.06:08and I have around 80 already made. I have around 80 ideas in my obsidian vault that I'm looking at and then I have about 25 ideas that are related to videos that I found on these topics that I wanted to reply to. So I have over a hundred future ideas for this series and I'm so excited to share them all with you. So please go check out the Journey to Polymath newsletter.

Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Seventieth-Second episode, The Fall of X is looming for the Mutant Nation of Krakoa…so naturally, it is time to do a wedding when an organization is bent on extinguishing their entire race with Emma Frost, The White Queen of The Hellfire Trading Company, is tying the knot with…TONY STARK!? Yep, the multi-billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist hero known as The Invincible Iron Man is set to marry The White Queen of The X-Men in holy matrimony that may or may not be followed by an ORCHIS raid because weddings in Superhero Comics nowadays must either be mentioned out of nowhere or have a group of villains attack. But yeah, The X-Men and Avengers are in attendance (Including the Recently Deceased Ms. Marvel) for this (obviously political) union between X-Men and Avengers. I hope they survive the experience. Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action adaptation has the first look of Avatar Aang, who looks more accurate to his OG Cartoon Counterpart than the Live Action movie counterpart, but I'm not optimistic about this project since there are already new animated films and series in the works in the main original timeline which may dilute interest in the multi-million budgeted series that may or may not get canceled after about 2 weeks of Season One's Binge release given Netflix's recent years of high budgeted shows ending after only a season. Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal survives the WBD Animation Purge with a greenlit season three in production, and there was much rejoicing. The upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage has more details with the reveal of the map scale of the game will be on the level of Assassin's Creed Unity and Revelations. Battlebit Remastered, the popular 254-Player answer for Battlefield and Call of Duty's stagnation and decline, is gaining increasing traction in their early access release. At the same time, Kraven The Hunter launched a trailer set to be produced by Sony for their MCU-Adjacent Shared Universe, and given their track record for films that aren't MCU Spider-Man or The Spider-Verse animation films, I have very little hope of this doing well, but we'll see how it all comes together when the film releases in theaters. It's the end of a journey for Landon, Michael, & Team Avatar as the series ends in a satisfying conclusion. Discussions revolve around the beautiful artwork of the episode, why Ozai thought he could take on the Avatar, Katara outsmarting Azula, Aang choosing not to kill Ozai, and the secrets of energybending. But, you'll have to forgive us for not mentioning Chong could perform at the first Woodstock, we just forgot about him for a second. OK?....OK. Avatar Aang and friends have come together to end the Hundred Year War and stop Fire Lord Ozai's campaign to impose Fire Nation rule on the Four Nations. With the Air Nomads effectively wiped out, Avatar Aang and crew decide to build a new place in the world where all are welcome to cooperate and work toward a future where everyone comes together for a greater cause. They choose the coastal village of Cranefish Town on the western shores of the Earth Kingdom to eventually become what will be known as Republic City. In the third and final episode of our Avatar: Legends mini-series, the group heads to the Earthen Fire Refinery to stop the Badgermole Mafia from taking over from the secret tunnels. Once there, they realize they're too late. Can our heroes find a way to stop Don Moshan and save the refinery? Or will they make more dick jokes and take over the mafia? Water, aarde, vuur, windsurfen!! Luisteren! Instagram: spaakzaam
Avatar Aang and Prince Sokka both deal with traumatic recollections of their pasts. For Sokka, the memory is painfully real, driving his actions to this day. The Yip Yip crew ends the podcast with who it started with, inviting Jessica over for a socially distanced breakdown of the finale and the series as a whole. Jordan theorizes why the rest of the world let the Fire Nation subjugate them. Jessica is still really drawn to Azula and feels she gets done dirty in the finale and wishes her brother Zuko had more colors in his firebending. Katie discusses why Aang clings to his culture more than other Avatars. Jessica breaks down the old Avatars’ advice. Jessica and Katie pine for one more Azula scene. Yip yip!
The comet arrives! The group finishes Avatar: The Last Airbender by watching the series finale “Sozin’s Comet” with chapters 18: The Phoenix King, 19: The Old Masters, 20: Into the Inferno, and 21: Avatar Aang. Jordan talks about Zuko’s quest for forgiveness in the back half of Book Three. Troy still hasn’t seen Black Panther. Katie loves the score in the last episodes. Jordan feels like the Spirit World is intervening in the events of the finale. Katie is unimpressed with Katara during the Final Agni Kai. Troy takes exactly two notes, namely how Toph still can't bend wood. Jordan repeats the very last word spoken in the series and it's perfect.
Sokka and Katara get the chance to reunite with their father, and Aang firebends for the first time. Sam and Aaron break down episodes 15 and 16 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, "Bato of the Water Tribe" and "The Deserter." Listen to Sam and Aaron as they dive into the backstory of Sokka and his deep connection with his father, and Aang's uncharacteristic lack of discipline as Jeong Jeong teaches him firebending. This episode marks the continuation of the podcast's series-long recap of Avatar: The Last Airbender!SPOILER ALERT: Do not listen to the podcast if you have not seen the first sixteen episodes of the Avatar: The Last Airbender. This episode will recap the events of episodes 15 and 16.
Shift To Avatar | Avatar Shifting Guided Meditation | The Hero From Another Dimension Comes (YOU) . #avatar #shifting #guidedmeditation. Hey everyone, hope you enjoy this new, fun, and interactive guided meditation. First you will be guided into a relaxed state of being, allowing you to enter the theta brainwave state allowing you to have very powerful visualizations & experiences. You will then be whisked away into a portal, to where you will meet your spirit animal in the form of an element of your choice (water, air, earth, fire). This spirit animal will merge with you giving you the power of the element. You wake up in some sort of jungle when your adventure begins. This takes places after Avatar Aang has defeated the Firelord. There are new enemies afoot, for after Firelord Ozai was defeated, he still had some loyal followers who formed a group known as "The Scorching Phoenixes" or "The Flame Phoenixes". This has been foretold in an ancient book passed down through many generations to which Iroh has been reading since he was a child. The book prophesizes that a hero will come from another dimension through a portal (you) who will help the Avatar restore peace to the world. The end of the book is blank for it is waiting to be written, by the story that you will play. Will you & team Avatar be able to defeat the 4 Flaming Phoenixes, whose main goal is to restore Ozai's power once again? I suppose we will find out. . . . # Shift To Avatar | Avatar Shifting Guided Meditation | The Hero From Another Dimension Comes , shift to avatar, avatar shifting guided meditation, the hero from another dimension comes, shift to avatar the last airbender, avatar shifting meditation, shift to avatar subliminal, shift to avatar universe, shifting to the avatar world, shift to avatar guided meditation, avatar meditation, avatar guided meditation, avatar shifting guided meditation, meditation with christoper, meditation with christopher shift --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/meditationwithchristopher/support

This is arguably the most used character trope in the history of fantasy. Most stories of the genre utilise it in some way. It may be subtle or they might literally be called The Chosen One. To be clear, a chosen one is someone who is selected by a force outside themselves to become the only person who is capable of resolving the plot, usually through some extraordinary circumstance that only they can trigger.Chosen Ones come in many different forms. We touch on some popular examples in the episode, outlining where they may be similar and different. Spoilers: they're almost always orphans. Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, prophesied to destroy He Who Must Not Be Named (Voldemort). Lyra Belacqua, a subtle chosen one with subversive abilities and who never knows that the path she forged was destined to change multiple universes. Avatar Aang, a classic chosen one, belonging to a long line of predecessors, able to access enormous power and tasked with the fate of the world. We love a chosen one story and the idea that anyone could be plucked from obscurity and thrust into greatness. But it is also easy to write the trope poorly and create a boring character who is ridiculously skilled for someone who just picked up a sword for the first time. We look at the pitfalls of the trope, where writers get caught, and what we can learn to make the Chosen One trope work for us.If you like the show, please consider becoming a patron of Kill My Darlings on Patreon. Since the reveal that the Legend of Korra will be releasing next month. I figured I'd have a sit down with myself to determine which is the superior Avatar Aang or Korra, which show had the better villains, and which series is better to me. I wanted to do this with the obvious current bias that I have toward Aang since I watched his show recently, and wanted to see how Korra compared. I will be doing a part 2 after the Korra release
Water. Earth. Fire. Air. My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days, a time of peace when the Avatar kept balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked! Premiering on Nickelodeon in 2005, the adventures of Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko recently gained a new generation of fans on Netflix. So let's make Uncle Iroh proud by remembering that "Sharing tea with a fascinating stranger is one of life's true delights."

Today we discuss if Avatar Aang could beat Avatar Korra! This is a highly debated topic for us and we give our thoughts on the subject. Rules: 1. Each character will be measured by their strength at the end of their own series. 2. One vote will be the victor with no Avatar State and a second vote will be made if they could use the Avatar State during the battle. We are joined today by Nicky, Alondra, Fam, and a special call-in by our friend Ashley! Do you agree with us? Share your opinions with us! FOLLOW US! ☳ I seriously need a cup of tea 茶. Any type of tea 茶: Green tea 綠茶, black tea 紅茶, oolong 烏龍茶 or pu-erh 普洱茶. I think it is time for my own bit of Tea Time equals Me Time. ☵ I have just come back from yet another regular session of Baguazhang 八卦掌 and I discovered a note on my desk which basically reads that I have been living in a glass tower: A show-pony going nowhere. ☶ I have been doing Baguazhang for as long as there has been Avatar Aang 降卋神通 and The Last Airbender show. The series was what got me into it. I really loved the accurately animated martial moves of Baguazhang 八卦掌, Tai Chi 太極拳, Northern Shaolin 北少林拳, Hung Gar 洪家拳 and Southern Praying Mantis 螳螂拳. ☰ Back then, I thought, if I stick it out and do as much as they do in the Chinese wushu schools I also would be able to do amazing feats. That did not come to pass. Instead I became a qigong master 氣功主. ☷ Did I manifest my own version of Avatar Aang becoming an energy bender at the end of the his ultimate journey? ☱ And if I did, am I now manifesting the next stage along the journey? ☲ These are big questions that will in time get answered, like why do I keep switching between simplified, traditional and rectified Chinese characters? ☴ Perhaps I enjoy spinning in circles. I used to do that a lot in primary school before I even knew there was a martial art called Baguazhang 八卦掌. It always made me be free like floating on air... Silly isn't it. But that is the first experience I can share about Baguazhang 八卦掌 and quantum physics. In very basic terms: The centre of time is the same point as our centre of space. What happened in our past is only a reflection of what will happen in the future at equal distances. Actually its the other way round - Our perception of it is back-to-front. Ponder on that. You will now need that cup tea. Because I bet that as soon as you have read this paragraph, your mind will start racing to connect the dots for you. Liked what you heard & want to connect with me? ☵ Donnie Yen drinks tea 甄子丹喝茶. Yup, that's right. He drinks tea... He also drinks coffee, beer, wine and boiled warm water. But for tea drinkers he drinks tea. ☰ As a martial artist and actor he does a wonderful job in balancing the two polarities rife in the martial arts world: the physical and the spiritual. And this can be seen in his movies. One group is all action and stunts. And the other group goes deeper into things, like when he did the Ip Man trilogy. ☶ So what does tea have to do with all of this, and or him? ☴ In Chinese wuxia novels and movies, tea symbolises the spiritual aspects of martial arts. More than just visual props, they are the two hexagrams of Well 井卦, and Cauldron 鼎卦, of the I-Ching 易經 combined and manifested in key events in the story as one idea or thing. It is a way of expressing those higher concepts that are sometimes difficult to explain like our belief in Tea Time equals Me Time. ☱ The phrase Tea Time equals Me Time, seems obvious to us because we practice it every day, but you would be surprised how many martial artists don't "get it" and hence reject it. Until their master sits them down and serves them some tea. ☳ They must take a sip or their master will not speak. This is the part of their training referred to as the Inner Door Schooling. This is the part where Bruce Lee says, "I cannot fill your cup until your cup is empty". Or as Avatar Aang said to Avatar Korra, "When you are at your lowest point, then you are open to the greatest change". ☷ In space and time I am also on this journey with you. I practice Tea Time equals Me Time everyday alongside my Baguazhang, I-Ching and Qigong. All different aspects of the same thing. For some it could be Chado 茶道, but for most it is just about stopping the manic headlong rush to somewhere and nowhere, and sipping that beautifully brewed cup of tea! ☲ There are other ways to find one's spiritual side in martial arts. This just happens to be easier than meditating for those that love to move about. It is quick and slow at the same time and can be done with others. Liked what you heard & want to connect with me? Thus, Billy Lee seeks out Master Splinter, the rat-man mentor of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, while Jimmy Lee travels to Ba Sing Se to seek guidance from Iroh, who instructed his nephew Zuko in his struggles against Avatar Aang. Good Morning Benders and Non-Benders alike and Welcome to Republic City Dispatch, a radio programme covering Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra series. This week: there’s no Korra to discuss, so our attention is turned to the land of graphic novels where Fire Lord Zuko has convinced Avatar Aang to let Azula join the GAang on the search for the truth about his long-lost mother. And now, without further ado, your hosts who mostly have mothers, Matt, Da7e, Devindra!
Good Morning Benders and Non-Benders alike and Welcome to The Republic City Dispatch, a radio programme concerning Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra series. This week: Korra Who? FLASHBACK to the times of Avatar Aang as the Harmony Restoration Movement does everything but restore Harmony in Yu Dao and causes deadly friction between Zuko and Aang. That’s right, it’s Dark Horse’s The Promise! With Matt, Dave, and Devindra!
Earth. Fire. Air. Water. When this podcast was in its infancy we discussed the story of how Avatar Aang and his friends heroically ended the Hundred Year War. Talking about the achievement of Executive Producers Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko transforming the Television Animation Industry by combining the styles of Anime and American cartoons into a show where children and adults from all over the world, could enjoy together an epic tale of peace and harmony. They named this great Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender. During their time on the air, the adventures of Avatar Aang accomplished many remarkable things. But sadly, after an outstanding series finale and a god-awful live-action movie adaptation his time in this world came to an end. Then like with all strong entertainment franchises, the cycle of the Avatar, began anew." And with that I'm proud to present Across the Airwaves Episode 79 as one of your first chances to meet the new Avatar, Korra as we add Nickelodeon's new series The Legend of Korra to our slate of reviews with our discussion on the highly anticipated one hour World Premiere. Although, that's not all you are going to get with this podcast episode as Nico gives a rant about how Bones seems to be losing its touch and I discuss how the shocking cliffhanger at the end of the Psych Season Finale might change the character of Shawn Spencer forever. Oh and did I mention that we've got a bunch of crackpot theories that came out of our discussion on this week's Fringe episode? Also as always we cover our favorite sitcoms, with Nico and I sharing our favorite comedic moments on this week's Modern Family and Community.
