Maxon is a Singer-Songwriter, and Co-Founder of independent Peninsula record label Sandhill Records. As an artist, Maxon spent her early teens years running in and out of studios, writing and recording original music with her then vocal coach and release artist Cheryl Beattie (Warner Music, 1999). A two-time recipient of the Mornington Peninsula Development Arts Grant, winner of the Green Wedge Songwriting Comp and City of Melbourne Grant Recipient, Maxon's ability to shatter yet heal hearts with her raw creations and powerful depth simultaneously makes any listener feel instantly seen, understood and coaxed into the light. An LGBTQIA+ creative powerhouse fluent in fusing Americana with 70s folk- rock and a modern sheen, Maxon's relationship with music spans beyond the studio and the stage. From devouring John Mayer's Room for Squares on CD on a family road trip through to rapidly developing her own love for singing and songwriting, Maxon has since gone on to share stages and lineups with the likes of Tones and I, Ella Hooper, Alex Lahey more, and has also appeared at major festivals including St Kilda Festival and Melbourne Fringe. Maxon's long-awaited debut album Talking With Strangers is now out as well as her song Little Blue! The Xerces Society is named for a blue butterfly, the Xerces blue, which went extinct in the 1940s. Luckily, there are other blues, some of which are doing fine and we can see regularly in our parks and neighborhoods, little butterflies who flash bright blue when they move their wings. Others, unfortunately, are not doing so well. In this episode, we are highlighting one of those, the Karner blue.Joining us to talk more about this butterfly is Julie Michaelson. Julie works for the Xerces Society as a pollinator conservation planner and NRCS partner biologist covering the Connecticut River Valley in New England. In this role, Julie collaborates with the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service and the American Farmland Trust to provide technical support, training, and conservation planning assistance to farmers and land managers seeking to develop pollinator and beneficial insect habitat. Prior to joining Xerces, Julie was an environmental steward with New York state parks where she monitored and managed habitat for the endangered Karner blue butterfly, the topic of today's conversation.---Cover Photo: Justin Meissen CC BY-SA 2.0Thank you for listening! Since 1989, the sight of brave souls diving into the Atlantic at Lahinch on Christmas morning has become a cornerstone of the Clare festive season. Originally founded by PJ Crotty and John Fawl, this tradition continues today through their families, carrying on a legacy of local generosity. This year, at 12 noon, the waves will be filled with swimmers once again, all raising vital funds for the Little Blue Heroes Foundation, a charity that turns courageous children battling serious illnesses into Honorary Gardaí. To tell us about the history of the swim and the 'heroes' it supports in Liscannor, Inagh, and beyond, Alan Morrissey had a chat with Clíona Fawl and Garda Niamh Keogh on Tuesday's Morning Focus. In this eye-opening conversation, Dr. Arthur L. Burnett, one of America's leading urologists and author of "The Manhood Rx," pulls back the curtain on men's sexual health and reveals why erectile dysfunction is far more than an embarrassing bedroom problem—it's often the first warning sign of serious cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other life-threatening conditions. Dr. Burnett dismantles the stigma surrounding men's sexual health, explaining how lifestyle choices, psychological factors, and underlying medical issues converge to impact male sexual function. From the overreliance on quick-fix pills to the critical connection between heart health and sexual performance, this conversation challenges men to view their sexual health as a vital component of overall wellness. Whether you're experiencing issues now or want to protect your health for decades to come, Dr. Burnett provides the science-backed roadmap every man needs—but few are willing to talk about.

Four rescued little blue penguins can't be released back into the wild - but they're about to get a new life at an exciting new experience opening in Franz Josef later this month. Troy Matich reports.
When you think of the 1990s, Viagra may not be the first thing that springs to mind—but its story is every bit as much a part of that decade's cultural shift as the rise of the internet or Britpop. In this episode, Beth and Jimmy explore how a pill intended to treat heart problems became one of the most famous and transformative medicines in history. With its bright blue diamond shape and memorable name, Viagra changed the way we talk about health, intimacy, and aging. The journey begins in Pfizer's labs, where researchers stumbled upon an unexpected side effect of a compound meant to ease chest pain. What seemed like a clinical failure quickly became a breakthrough in men's health. By the late 1990s, Viagra wasn't just a new drug—it was a revolution, offering hope and restoring confidence to millions of men who had long suffered in silence. Beyond the science, the launch of Viagra cracked open conversations about erectile dysfunction at a time when the subject was still considered taboo. Clever marketing campaigns encouraged men to “ask your doctor,” normalizing discussions about sexual health in living rooms across the world. Suddenly, intimacy was no longer an unspoken issue, but a matter of health and well-being that deserved attention and care. Viagra's cultural impact was just as profound. From late-night comedy monologues to sitcom punchlines, the “little blue pill” became a fixture in popular culture. It sparked debates, inspired music, and even appeared in advertising alongside footballers and celebrities. Whether taken seriously or not, it became a shorthand for vitality, humor, and the changing attitudes of a new millennium. In this episode, Beth and Jimmy trace Viagra's story from happy accident to global icon, uncovering the science, the stigma, and the surprising legacy of a drug that redefined aging and intimacy. Join them as they peel back the layers of this 90s phenomenon—where medicine, culture, and comedy collided in a way no one could have predicted. Talk2TheHand is an independent throwback podcast run by husband and wife, Jimmy and Beth. Obsessed with 90s nostalgia and 90s celebrities, we'll rewind the years and take you back to the greatest era of our lives. New episodes bursting with nostalgia of the 90s released on Tuesdays. Episode 321: Atlanta native Kristina Murray moved to Nashville in 2014 with a fresh and original debut album and steely determination. The country singer and songwriter carved out a respected space at honky tonks like Santa's Pub and the American Legion. When hard work and critical acclaim for her two releases didn't launch her career to a new orbit, it felt like defeat. That, plus the pandemic, fueled some challenging times and emotions that inspired her new one, Little Blue, a lovely, lament-filled album on New West's Normaltown imprint. Murray is due for new waves of attention, and we talk about how hard that is to manifest in this edition of The String.

While Betsy often prefers to hand Kate children's picture books to consider that are chock full of details, at a certain point she is forced to come up with books that contain none of that. And you cannot get much more basic than Little Blue and Little Yellow here. Your heroes are essentially paint swatches, after all. In the course of our conversation, though, Kate surprises Betsy by coming up with a discussion of everything from the origins and accuracy of certain nursery rhymes to whether or not Lionni's Italian background affected which gender each color receives in this book.

As the House passed the bill that sends money and weapons to Ukraine, the floor erupted in applause. It was difficult to find those who believe we should stay out of foreign wars, because they were buried in a sea of little blue and gold flags. For months, the Regime pushed Speaker Johnson to fund wars in the Ukraine, and Israel. They finally got what they wanted, and in true Demoncrat style, Mike Johnson got nothing in return. Mike Church breaks down the latest development from the House and he continues to expose the failure that is Johnson's speakership. He reveals who opposed the bill and why war hawks like Lindsey Graham are ecstatic to fund more wars. Did Donald Trump have a role in this? Mike gives you the answer on this episode of the New Christendom Daily.

One of the most inventive and gifted musicians working today is none other than Jacob Collier. Maybe you know him from his YouTube videos, or co-writing SZA's “Good Days,” or even performing alongside Joni Mitchell at this year's Grammys. Jacob is a musician with thunderous chops, proficient on multiple instruments and with a voice that ranges from bass to soprano. over the past few years, he's managed to release several records, net collaborations with everyone from Michael McDonald to T-Pain, and become the first British artist to receive a Grammy Award for each of his first four albums.
