Hello and welcome to Bill vs the MCU! Each month your hosts Pop Break Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus and Pop Break Editor in Chief Bill Bodkin take another step on their ten month journey to rewatch the ENTIRE Marvel Studios-produced Marvel Cinematic Universe, typically focusing on three or four films from the first four phases of the MCU per episode, reminiscing about their first watches, reflecting on their latest viewings, and considering the wider multiverse ahead! The reason this podcast came into existence is that our Editor-in-Chief has never finished the Marvel Cinematic Universe. So Alex is guiding him on his journey to actually finish the MCU over the next 10 months. This week, it's the moment we've all been waiting for. After seven months and 22 films, Bill finally watched Avenger: Endgame! We will be discussing that experience in depth, along with our reflection on 2019's other releases: Captain Marvel & Spider-Man: Far From Home. Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame are available to stream on Disney+. Spider-Man: Far From Home is currently available for rental and purchase on VOD and to stream via FXNow & FuboTV.

Hello, ho ho ho, dear listeners! 2021 trickles towards the finish line and, for the first time in the podcast's near 4-year existence, it was a year during which we witnessed a new Bond movie. It certainly felt great to get one. Regardless of the controversies surrounding “No Time to Die”, from pre-production entanglements, the film's plot, to real worldwide shaping challenges, it feels safe to say that most fans are breathing a sigh of relief. We now officially have 25 Bond films to talk about. Speaking of the fans, what better direction for the 2021 Christmas Special than to pass the mic over to them and hear what they have to say about Daniel Craig's Swann song? This week's episode features a few listener audio reviews for NTTD. This is but the warm up however, as future weeks will have extended group conversations about the movie, each one with a different pairing of hosts and collection of guests. As for this week, our friends certainly make several astute comments that have us pause for thought. For instance: Bond jinxing himself with key phrases, getting “the feels” Avenger: Endgame style, knowing the ending before seeing the film the first time, hard hitting journalism questions like “Are you gonna do another Bond???”, the best horror movie never made, and the unanimous consensus: please marry us, Paloma. So sit back, relax, roast those chestnuts on an open fire with hot cocoa, slurp down a Vesper in one swig, and enjoy the No Time to Die themed 2021 Christmas Special. Thank you to recurring guests and friends of the show Bill Koenig and Simon Drake, local Montreal friend Mathieu Nadeau aka Matt #2, and first time caller Marcus Petäjä for their NTTD reviews!

University Of Cincinnati professor who writes about Marvel gave her expectations for Avengers Endgame.
It's Disney+ brings us Marvel's Sam and Bucky on the small screen! The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the television miniseries based on the Marvel Comics characters Sam Wilson / Falcon and Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier, set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and sharing continuity with the films of the franchise. Luke and Jason check out this latest post-Avenger: Endgame, Marvel Studios produced series, which has Malcolm Spellman serving as head writer and Kari Skogland directing. Six months after being handled the mantle of Captain America, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) teams up with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) in a worldwide adventure that tests their abilities and their patience. The show adds the talents of Wyatt Russell and Erin Kellyman, with Daniel Bruhl and Emily VanCamp returning.
NRC Episode Six! Eric Brown covers the first half of Week 3 of February with the focus on Zack Snyder's Justice League, A Potential DC Comics Buyout from Fans, a new Star Wars Event Comic dubbed The War of The Bounty Hunters by High Republic writer, Charles Soule! Total Drama is renewed for two seasons on HBO MAX, John Constantine is getting rebooted on HBO MAX with a new actor in the role, DuckTales is set to end with a 90-Minute Series Finale, WWE continues to prove their opressive leadership bordering on a very fine line of legal and illegal in my opinion, and Mission Impossible 7 & 8 no longer being shot back-to-back! The worldwide announcement of Assassins Creed Valhalla happened overnight and was made in partnership with Australian artist, BossLogic, who created an exclusive digital artwork revealed over an eight-hour Livestream via Twitch, Youtube and Facebook. Over the stream, the artwork slowly revealed the game setting, time period as well as the design of the main character to fans who tuned in to watch the announcement. If you don’t know who BossLogic (Kode) is I’m sure you would have seen some of his work. There was a stunning tribute to Kobe Bryant and his daughter, the amazing images of the Australian bushfires that were really close to home in Melbourne and some of his cult classic, pop culture comic book pieces where is has worked with both DC and Marvel but probably most famously on the Marvel’s Avenger Endgame movie. NOW ON TO ASSASSIN’S CREED VALHALLA THE GAME. Ubisoft have a massive challenge ahead, how do they make a game that is at least as good as the brilliant Assassin’s Creed Odyessy. After all the franchise has sold over 140 million copies worldwide and is famous for it’s immersive and historically realistic settings. Well, the first step is choosing the setting and having it in the dark ages of Vikings seems like a masterstroke. The next instalment of the Assassin’s Creed® franchise, Assassin’s Creed® Valhalla, will be released worldwide this holiday season. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the game invites players into the most realistic Viking experience to date. Players will explore a dynamic and beautiful open world set against the brutal backdrop of England’s Dark Ages. Players will live the saga of Eivor, a fierce Viking raider raised on tales of battle and glory. As Eivor, players will be able to choose to be male or female and must carve out a new future for their clan as they are driven from Norway. Experience an epic journey of the Dark Ages and relive the ruthless fighting styles of Viking warriors in the rich lands of England’s broken kingdoms. The movement of those characters in the trailer is next level, this is going to be epic! “We can’t wait for players to experience the incredible Viking journey ahead of them,” said Ashraf Ismail, Creative Director of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. “Being in Eivor’s boots as both a Viking raider and a clan leader will help players understand the conflicts Vikings endured as they tried to establish a new home while in the midst of a power struggle for control of England.” Available on the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X, PlayStation®4, Google Stadia, Windows PC and UPLAY+, Ubisoft’s subscription service*. The game will be released on the Xbox Series X and PlayStation® 5 upon their launch. Players can pre-order the game at the Ubisoft Store to gain access to an additional mission at launch. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg taught Dan DeLeeuw how visual effects lights up an audience. He went to college to learn more and then got a job at Dream Quest, which included miniatures and models. In the 1990s, DeLeeuw worked on films like ‘The Three Musketeers,’ ’The Rock,’ ‘Deep Rising,’ ‘Armageddon,’ ‘Mighty Joe Young,’ ‘Bicentennial Man’, ‘102 Dalmatians,’ and ‘The Skeleton Key.’ As visual effects started to become the norm, he stepped into a supervisor role for movies like ‘Night at the Museum,’ ‘Iron Man 3,’ ‘Captain America,’ and then the Avengers films, “Infinity War" and “Endgame.” In this interview, the specialist talks about growing with the Marvel franchise as a storyteller, working with the Russo Brothers, the difficulties of aging and de-aging actors, how they showcase Marvel personalities in a fight, the process from script to final product, and the future of visual effects. William et J-S se rencontraient en ligne pour la première fois depuis un méchant bout pour discuter d'un film qui ''closait la loop'' sur les aventures des avengers avec Thanos (et terminait presque la 3e phase du MCU). A movie so big it needed two podcasts!! With a 3 hour run time and 10 years of build up, we couldn't contain it all in one episode. We talk chills, thrills, spills, and hills. We discuss the emotional rollercoaster that is Endgame; from the most exciting moments to the most surprising deaths. Listen now to the conclusion of Cinematic Brotastic's two part podcast on Avengers: Endgame! When the preceding movie’s cliffhanger involves 1/2 of the entire universe getting wiped out, you can pretty much expect the conclusion to be an emotional ride. Avengers: Endgame is just that, an emotional ride. From Ant-Man’s reunion with his daughter now 5 years older, even though the 5 years was just 5 hours to him, puts a little lump in your throat. Hawkeye and Black Widow fighting for the chance to sacrifice themself to get the soul stone pulled at the heart strings. But one of the most emotional moments was also unexpected. In the climactic battle, Hulk had used the stones to reverse the snap, however, the results are not immediately seen. Captain America looks like he’s about to meet his end, when a voice of a team member thought long gone warns Captain America he’s going to pass him, “ on [his} left.” More characters than we could count join the core Avengers on the battlefield, walking through portals created by Dr. Strange and other magical characters. What should have been a moment to jump to our feet with excitement, was filled with emotion. We were for sure excited, but inexplicably compelled to cry and felt a swell of emotion that made it difficult to keep our composure. The overwhelming emotional experience was quickly replace by repeated awesome moments that had us practically jumping out of our seats with excitement. Ant-man as his larger self straight up punches one of those flying worm ships from the first Avengers film knocking it out of the sky. A moment we thought would never be touched upon in the films was when Captain America becomes worthy of Thor’s hammer. He not only wields it, he uses its full power. He throws it and it returns. He throws it at his shield creating a concussive blast knocking Thanos off balance. He even calls the lightning! Probably one of the coolest moments was when all the women of marvel teamed up to protect the new gauntlet from Thanos. Essentially playing keep away, the heroes are getting bogged down by Thanos’ minions. Finally Captain Marvel gets it and as she rises to the occasion, so do all of the female heroes in the franchise. This made for an exciting moment, and was a good testament to the fact that this is not just a man’s game. 10 years of buildup, a lot of hype, and yet it still met expectations. The 3 hour run time allowed for the film to include a lot of story. A big trend in Hollywood is to split a long movie into two films. This one kept everything in one, and although this is appreciated, we feel this is also its biggest set back. With travel time and trailers, when all is said and done, the whole experience took 4 or more hours. It’s not easy to just say, “I’m going to go watch Endgame!” If you go at 9 or 10 o’clock at night, you won’t come home until 1 or 2 in the morning. It takes a big chunk of one’s day. Both of us would love to see this film in theaters again, but probably won’t, due to its 3 hour run time alone. The Brothers Brotastic rate Avengers: Endgame 2 tickets. Worth the money, and worth another screening, if it’s possible. Until next time, we’ll see you at the movies. And don’t forget to check your ticket stubs.
