The First Year of The Ultimate Universe is nearing the end. And in 2025, The Ultimate Wolverine Dawns the Second Year! (FROM MARVEL PR) Just now at New York Comic Con's Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing Panel, the biggest comics panel of the weekend, Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski, writer Chris Condon, and more revealed the next ongoing series coming to Marvel's hit new Ultimate Universe. Joining acclaimed titles ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN, ULTIMATE BLACK PANTHER, ULTIMATE X-MEN, and ULTIMATES is… ULTIMATE WOLVERINE! Hitting stands in January, ULTIMATE WOLVERINE will be written by rising star Chris Condon (That Texas Blood, VENOM WAR: DAREDEVIL) and drawn by MOON KNIGHT powerhouse artist Alessandro Cappuccio. True to the character's origin as a government weapon, Ultimate Wolverine is an unwilling agent of the Maker, the secret creator of this corrupt universe. Mindwiped and used as an assassin, he's still the best there is as at what he does… even if he's not in control of who he does it to. “When Wil Moss called me and asked me if I wanted to take on this title, I jumped at the chance and immediately had an idea of what to do with it,” said Condon. “I'm bringing my essence of storytelling from That Texas Blood to the Marvel Universe with Wolverine, looking back at what came before and bringing us something new." “You might notice that there's a Red Star on his costume and you might wonder why,” he continued. “If you look at that mask, there's a muzzle on him, and that's because he's wild.” In order to maintain control of their corner of the Maker's world, three members of his council – Magik, Colossus and Omega Red – deploy their most lethal asset: The Winter Soldier! But WHO is the weapon behind the mask? THE MAKER'S ULTIMATE WEAPON! Before ULTIMATE WOLVERINE arrives in January, readers will see him in action for the first time in a prelude story by Condon and Cappuccio in ULTIMATE UNIVERSE: ONE YEAR IN #1, the special one-shot that concludes the first year of Marvel's new Ultimate Universe and sets up the next year of stories, including the Maker's long-awaited return! Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Eighty-Six Episode, Venom's final movie for Sony's Spider-Verse, The Last Dance, released a trailer that featured a shocking cinematic debut of Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman's Creation of their acclaimed Venom run at Marvel: Knull, The King In Black and God of The Symbiotes, much to everyone's shock, especially the creators, having not been given an advance notice (or royalties) to the inclusion of their creations. Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse has been up on the wall regarding the future since the crunch period that Across The Spider-Verse caused along with the delay from the initially planned release date a year after the Second Film, and rumors began swirling that the film had been scrapped and restarted. Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Eighty-Fifth Episode, Illyana Rasputin, Magik, Sorceress Supreme, Kitty Pryde's Best Friend, Colssous' Younger Sister, and overall badass Mutant, is finally getting her own solo ongoing for the first time in her entire publication existence! Apple has unveiled the next generation of Apple Products at the Apple Glowtime Event that will last for a year or two until the next generation begins because, of course. Sony's arrogance knows no bounds as they unveil the next mid-generation refresh of the PlayStation 5 known as the PS5 Pro, costing a total of 700 Dollars, or 800 if you want the disk drive and vertical stand because Microsoft isn't partaking in the mid-gen refresh with the Xbox and thus PlayStation Tribalists are given the glimpse of what a PS-Dominant future would hold for the gaming industry. The Post-Krakoa Era of X-Men is in full swing; time for a crossover that fragments and divides Mutantkind because god knows the ‘Lost Decade' didn't do that for ten years before House of X. (From Marvel's PRESS RELEASE) New 'Raid on Graymalkin' Crossover Pits X-Man Against X-Man for the Future of Professor X's Dream 'Raid on Graymalkin,' a 4-part crossover between Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman's 'X-Men' and Gail Simone and David Marquez's 'Uncanny X-Men,' begins this December. The X-Men's new era is fully underway, and starting this December, fans will experience an epic crossover between two of its three flagship titles in "Raid on Graymalkin!" Left broken and scattered in the wake of Krakoa, the X-Men have since regrouped into distinct teams of their own. In Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman's X-MEN, Cyclops leads a squad of hardened mutant soldiers out of an abandoned Sentinel factory in Alaska. While in Gail Simone and David Marquez's UNCANNY X-MEN, Rogue attempts to build a new home with her chosen X-family along with a handful of new students down in Louisiana. Their different approaches to the X-Men's mission erupt into a tense standoff when a plan of action is needed to take down Graymalkin Prison, formerly Xavier's Institute. The X-Men's school has been transformed into a brutal penitentiary for mutants by the callous Dr. Corina Ellis, and her prize inmate is none other than Professor X himself! But after his actions during Krakoa's fall, is Professor X worth saving? And who or what is the secret weapon that Ellis is confident will protect Graymalkin against any attack? Find out in this four-part mutant milestone that solidifies the X-Men's post-Krakoan world! "It's been an exciting time being part of the launch of the line of X-titles, but now we're really getting into it- our first crossover!” MacKay shared. “Raid on Graymalkin is going to push the X-Men of both Alaska and Louisiana to their breaking points and set the tone for the future, and it's been great to work with a legend like Gail in bringing it to life!" "Writing in the X-World has been one of the most fun and rewarding experiences of my career," Simone said. “Best characters, best art team, best editors and best fellow creators, particularly Jed Mackay, who is just an idea machine. We've been throwing ideas back and forth nearly every day since we all started putting together the bones of what the X-Verse would be like, and I think it helps tremendously that we like and respect each other's work.” “I hope that this is a precursor to more short crossovers,” Simone added. “We love the idea of doing something impactful, where it feels punchy and fast-paced, with some genuine, lasting effects. You can still just read X-MEN or UNCANNY X-MEN and follow the story, but you'll get a bigger, richer picture if you get both. As always, we have the welcome mat out for newbies and long-time readers alike!” Sources: https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/x-men-uncanny-x-men-new-raid-on-graymalkin-crossover
I'm Cautiously Optimistic about Magik's First Solo Ongoing Comic given The Conductor of X, Tom Brevoort, past comments about the character and what he could do now that he holds the editorial keys to the X-Men Kingdom. (From Marvel's PRESS RELEASE) Magik Defends Mutantkind From Demonic Threats in New Solo Series Writer Ashley Allen and artist Germán Peralta launch Magik's first-ever ongoing solo series this January! This January, mutant icon Magik headlines her first ongoing solo series! The X-Men's resident sorcerer will unleash her Soulsword, spells, and dark side against mystical threats targeting the mutant community. Rising star Ashley Allen, who wrote the character earlier this year in X-MEN: BLOOD HUNT—MAGIK, will write the script. The character will be drawn by acclaimed artist Germán Peralta, known for his recent work on BLACK PANTHER and last year's LOKI series. From Colossus' kid sister to New Mutant, Illyana Rasputina has climbed the ranks over the years to become the fiercest X-Man of them all, and her long overdue solo adventures will see her tap into her mystical expertise and unique mutant magic like never before. The mystic mutant goes demon hunting in her own series! The X-Man Illyanna Rasputina strikes out on her own with new allies and dark powers arrayed against her. Something ancient has awakened beneath the Alaskan ice. Unfortunately for it, that's Magik's territory now! Throughout the series, Magik will also be forced to come to terms with her tragic history and learn to control her demonic Darkchylde persona. After years of suppression, Illyana's Darkchylde form returns from the depths of her tormented soul to offer her more strength and power, but at what cost? “I'm beyond excited to be returning to write Illyana!” Allen said. “Supernatural stories featuring characters with hearts of gold are my favorite, so this series has been a dream to write! I can't wait for readers to experience the adventure we take Magik on to slay some demons … and maybe accept some of her own.” “I am very excited about this project,” Peralta shared. “Magik is a character with an incredible background, surrounded by darkness and mystery. Additionally, she is visually spectacular in all her versions, and I personally love Chris Bachalo's design. I really enjoy drawing action scenes, as well as emotionally-driven scenes, and Ashley Allen writes a super intriguing script, where she balances both of these types of situations, making my job even more fun than it already is. I mean, what artist wouldn't love to draw Magik with her great sword facing all kinds of demons?” Sources: https://www.marvel.com/articles/comics/magik-headlines-first-solo-series https://www.tumblr.com/brevoorthistoryofcomics/86860874679/life-in-a-four-color-world-column-on-x-men-2003 https://bleedingcool.com/comics/tom-brevoort-x-men-and-illyana-rasputin-magik/ https://bleedingcool.com/comics/how-tom-brevoort-learned-to-stop-worrying-and-love-magik/

In the Eighty-Fourth Episode, Doctor Doom has overthrown The Kang Dynasty and prepares to unleash a Doomsday upon The Marvel Cinematic Universe that will spawn a Secret War, played by the man that set the stage for the MCU's success, Robert Downey Jr., much to shock and worry of many fans even with the reunion of the directors that led to the MCU's greatest successes, The Russo Brothers. Star Wars: The Acolyte reigned for Eight Weeks, and despite having a budget bigger than Revenge of The Sith, Disney and Lucasfilm have announced the show's cancellation due to low viewership. In what took way longer than it should have, Ubisoft is FINALLY taking The Assassins and Templars' Secret War to Feudal Japan in ASSASSIN'S CREED SHADOWS that caused some issues with fans with their Historical Character that existed in history with Oda Nobunaga's Retainer, Yasuke, being one of the two main characters while ignoring the fictional female native Japanese character that plays the Assassin because reasons. Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Seventieth-Sixth episode, New York Comic-Con happened, and with it, a ton of announcements were made in the world of Pop-Culture! First and foremost, Marvel unveiled their next big thing panel with big event comics and status quo changing storylines such as Marvel's Blood Hunt and FALL OF THE HOUSE OF X/RISE OF THE POWERS OF X that will signal the end of the Krakoan Era of X-Men that started back in 2019 to presumably go back to the mansion and thus ending my tenure reading X-Men Books. Comics in the '90s had a seismic shift when superstar artists left Marvel to form Image Comics. Now, in the 2020s, a new endeavor has begun as DC and Marvel lose prominent writers and artists who collectively come together to create GHOST MACHINE, a creator-owned multi-media company in partnership with Image to launch a multiverse of stories by talent such as Geoff Johns, Gary Frank, Bryan Hitch, Brad Meltzer, and many others. Dragon Ball Daima is the next phase in the Dragon Ball franchise, launching in Fall 2024, that will continue the adventures of Son Goku and Friends as kids! A Redemption of sorts for DBGT? And finally, after a year and a half, Microsoft has completed the Activision-Blizzard acquisition, and Bobby Kotick is set to leave with his golden parachute at the end of the year. Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Seventieth-Third episode, Secret Invasion happened, and I didn't watch it, not only because of Superhero Media Burnout but because the opening intro was made from Artificial Intelligence, which is one of the reasons the Hollywood Strike of 2023 even happened in the first place. My Adventures with Superman has been a critical success, which is why they have Season 2 greenlit and production already in the works; speaking of Superman, the upcoming James Gunn feature has officially cast their Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan respectively, along with some additional castings that will be covered in a future video after Episode 75. All I can say is good luck to the new Superman and Ace Reporter! On the topic of James Gunn, he had to assure fans that the release of the final season of Doom Patrol would see the light of day despite WBD's multiple canceling of projects. EA, with team members that developed Shadow of Mordor, announced a Black Panther video game to be in development! Deadpool 3 continues to expand its casting, with it seemingly turning into a significant reunion of the many Marvel FOX Era cast ranging from X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Daredevil as Jennifer Garner returns as Elektra with a rumored Cassandra Nova serving as the main villain in what is slowly looking like a ‘Deadpool kills The Marvel Universe' adaption. Lastly, after weeks of contention and stunning revelations, Xbox has defeated The FTC in their attempted Injunction to stop the Activision-Blizzard deal from being finalized and FTC's appeal also being denied, causing the agreement to evolve from an IF to a WHEN. Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Seventieth-Second episode, The Fall of X is looming for the Mutant Nation of Krakoa…so naturally, it is time to do a wedding when an organization is bent on extinguishing their entire race with Emma Frost, The White Queen of The Hellfire Trading Company, is tying the knot with…TONY STARK!? Yep, the multi-billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist hero known as The Invincible Iron Man is set to marry The White Queen of The X-Men in holy matrimony that may or may not be followed by an ORCHIS raid because weddings in Superhero Comics nowadays must either be mentioned out of nowhere or have a group of villains attack. But yeah, The X-Men and Avengers are in attendance (Including the Recently Deceased Ms. Marvel) for this (obviously political) union between X-Men and Avengers. I hope they survive the experience. Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action adaptation has the first look of Avatar Aang, who looks more accurate to his OG Cartoon Counterpart than the Live Action movie counterpart, but I'm not optimistic about this project since there are already new animated films and series in the works in the main original timeline which may dilute interest in the multi-million budgeted series that may or may not get canceled after about 2 weeks of Season One's Binge release given Netflix's recent years of high budgeted shows ending after only a season. Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal survives the WBD Animation Purge with a greenlit season three in production, and there was much rejoicing. The upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage has more details with the reveal of the map scale of the game will be on the level of Assassin's Creed Unity and Revelations. Battlebit Remastered, the popular 254-Player answer for Battlefield and Call of Duty's stagnation and decline, is gaining increasing traction in their early access release. At the same time, Kraven The Hunter launched a trailer set to be produced by Sony for their MCU-Adjacent Shared Universe, and given their track record for films that aren't MCU Spider-Man or The Spider-Verse animation films, I have very little hope of this doing well, but we'll see how it all comes together when the film releases in theaters. Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Seventieth-First episode, Reddit continues to self-destruct (along with other platforms) with absurd changes due to the rise of Artificial Intelligence, so by corpo logic, everyone will be punished for it. The Flash's Director, Andy Muschietti, defends The film's questionable CGI by basically saying, ‘It intended to suck, therefore it's alright!', and can only hope his subsequent significant work, Batman: The Brave and The Bold, goes much better than Ezra Miller's Flash. Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Seventieth episode, Showcases continue throughout the month of June because E3 is irrelevant to many these days in a post-COVID world. Such as Ubisoft unveiling Assassin's Creed's Rebirth titles such as Mirage, Jade, and Nexus! While The Continental is set for the September in the 3-Part Event Miniseries, controversies have arose with Mel Gibson's major role casting in an interview with IGN where they go into the detail of planning and producing this event series with potential followups set in the 80s and 90s. Reddit messed up big time and major subreddits had gone dark in protest to their changes, hasn't work as well they hoped. Xbox is put to the task regarding its future, the Activision-Blizzard Deal, and the locking of FPS in Redfall and Starfield, and I must say, it's pretty wacky how things have turned for them, like Disney and their massive reshuffling of film release dates in Marvel, Avatar, and Star Wars stretching all the way to the 2030s. Overwatch (Continued), continues to display their contempt to the consumer and fans by locking PvE story missions behind a paywall after they scrapped the skill trees and original plans that would've justified Overwatch having a 2 to its name. Skybound's Robert Kirkman's Void Rivals was released and gives way to a new shared universe of Transformers and G.I. Joe dubbed The Energon Universe, after the licenses expired from IDW and their original Hasbro Shared Universe along with Micronauts and ROM heading back to Marvel, with new titles from great writers and artists such as Joshua Williamson and Daniel Warren Johnson involving Transformers, and Cobra Commander. Eric Brown of Neo-Reality Collective reviews The First Issue of Ultimate Invasion, by Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch with inks by Andrew Currie and colors by Alex Sinclair! Music by AVI - Mystery Man! CHAPTER ONE: GOOD ARTISTS COPY / EPILOGUE: GREAT ARTISTS STEAL THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE BEGINS! Superstar creators Jonathan Hickman and Bryan Hitch team up! The Illuminati must form once again to stop the Maker from his plans to destroy—or perhaps rebuild—the universe, with Miles Morales at the center of it all! Bryan Hitch's work on THE ULTIMATES helped redefine super hero comics for the 2000s—wait until you see what he and Jonathan have in store for this decade! Including new data pages by Jonathan Hickman—plus exclusive behind-the-scenes material on the world-building that has gone into this project! ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY INTERVIEW “[Revisiting the idea of Ultimate Comics] couldn't be replicating or revisiting what Bryan did in the original ULTIMATES—creating a streamlined, modernized version that would eventually become the spine of the MCU, and it certainly couldn't be what I did, which was a final chapter of a pre-existing universe,” Hickman explained to Entertainment Weekly. “We also thought the very idea of Ultimate Comics needed to be inverted from what the original universe was—we wanted this to be something that could really only exist in the comic space: a new way of thinking about, and enjoying, a new version of the Marvel Universe. I'm pretty happy to say that it feels like we've accomplished those things and we're very excited for everyone to get to read it.” “It's been more than 20 years since I started work on THE ULTIMATES, a project that would have a big impact on my own career and beyond, so when Marvel came to me with the idea of revisiting the Ultimate Universe with the man who so brilliantly and spectacularly destroyed the last one, I was both feet in!” Hitch said. “Jonathan is a terrific writer of big, sprawling epics, and we've talked about working together more than once so for this new Ultimate Universe adventure to unite us is very exciting. I get to bring two decades of new experience as an artist and storyteller to this. It's new, different and familiar. It's big budget, high-concept, widescreen storytelling. I feel right at home.”
Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Sixty-Ninth episode, Showcases are made direct and move forward, terrible puns I know, with unveiling details and gameplay trailers of Fable, Starfield, and the upcoming expansion pack of Cyberpunk 2077, Phantom Liberty, which will fundamentally alter the base game going as far to introduce a sixth mainline ending to the game's main storyline that may save V from death, only time will tell. Star Wars' first foray into Open World begins in Star Wars Outlaws by Ubisoft's MASSIVE ENTERTAINMENT which tells the tale of Kay Vess and her companion Nix, set during the one-year time skip between Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi. Suppose you think of it, with all the added continuity material set between Empire and Jedi in the Disney Canon. In that case, this one-year gap makes no sense if you recall the recently concluded Crimson Dawn Trilogy and the upcoming Star Wars horror event Dark Droids that features galactic-wide events occurring that are never brought up or even subtlety referenced in the galaxy post-OG trilogy. Superman: Legacy, the first official entry into the Gunn-Safran DC Universe, directed and written by James Gunn, is closing in on the test screenings for the roles of Superman/Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor is now set to not only include the usual Superman Mythos such as Krypto The Superdog, but, in a new report from THR, now featuring some of the members of THE AUTHORITY, a rogue group of Superheroes who seek to protect the world however they see fit, which will raise the question if The Authority is already a formed group or will form up in their titular film, either way, this further raises my suspicions that Gods and Monsters will feature a newly formed Justice League fighting The Authority that could topple the more aggressive, borderline dictatorial, team from their pedestal by the Paragons of Hope and Justice. We shall see in this new era. All this and more on Neo-Reality Collective! Brought to you by TheEveryDayFan, check out their links below! Final Fantasy VII Rebirth features new combo moves, a playable Red XIII and Chocobos, along with story teasers of Sephiroth's Manipulation and Tifa Lockhart's presumed death, making CloudxTifa fans worry about the bartender's fate in this Unknown Journey. Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Sixty-Fourth Episode, Legendary Halo writer, Joseph Staten, departs Microsoft and joins Netflix for an unannounced AAA Game in development. Sony continues to whine as it becomes more and more apparent that the Activision-Blizzard/Xbox Deal may go through following regulatory boards giving their approval over the deal, Resident Evil 4 Remake, which is a remake of a near two decade video game, had a new patch that not only released the free Mercenary mode, but implemented MICROTRANSACTIONS into the predominantly single-player game, I dunno guess Capcom couldn't let go of doing something shady. WarnerBros. Discovery, the company that has continuously pissed fans off for the past year of decisions that now is catching the eye of the US Government, has announced the end of HBO MAX, and in its place comes…MAX…just MAX…because apparently, with no citation or market data to back it up, parents were scared off of the HBO brand name because parents are apparently just that dumb in the world of David Zaslav, while also unveiling the prices of the service and productions such as The Penguin set after The Batman movie. Star Wars Celebration was in full swing, and unveiled a ton of new projects set in the Galaxy Far Far Away, the highlights include the unveiling of AHSOKA in a new official trailer, a new Star Wars Horror comic event called Dark Droids, Star Wars Visions 2, Bad Batch season 3, and lastly, most importantly, three new Star Wars movies set in The Dawn of The Jedi era, New Republic Era and The New Jedi Order Era post Rise of Skywalker, with Daisy Ridley's Rey returning because the nihilistic ending of the Skywalker Saga wasn't apparent enough. Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Sixty-Third Episode, Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti's mystery project is unveiled as G.O.D.S, as Hickman has described as Marvel's Sandman, which will feature the clash of The Natural Order of Things against The Powers That Be that is promised by Marvel as Hickman's most ambitious undertaking to date, dramatically reshaping Marvel's pantheon of cosmic beings and the entities behind the very fabric of reality. With Hickman revealed that when he returned to Marvel that along with House of X, G.O.D.S was his other ambitious work, drawn and colored by Valerio Schiti and Marte Gracia, respectively; Hickman's next Marvel Spanning Epic will launch in the Fall of 2023 with a preview in Free Comic Book Day. When Hickman writes, you read. "The X-Men hoped Krakoa would last forever. Time to find out if they were right." was the tease Marvel first gave for the Post-Destiny of X era for The Mutant Nation-State, Krakoa, which began in 2019's House of X/Powers of X Maxiseries by Jonathan Hickman, Pepe Larraz, R.B Silva, and Marte Gracia. It culminates in The Fall of X, featuring a full-blown war between The X-MEN of The Nation of Krakoa and The Anti-Mutant Coalition of ORCHIS as new titles and complete press releases are made at MegaCon '23. MultiVersus, which I must remind all had microtransactions, is closing down of its Early Access phase and re-release in 2024, with no plans regarding refunding everyone who paid for microtransactions and Battle Passes. While all that is happening, Liv Tyler, who first and last appeared in the MCU's Incredible Hulk, is returning for Captain America 4: New World Order, as Disney announces the plan to lay off 7,000 employees as part of a cost-cutting measure which includes Ike Perlmutter, The Chairman of Marvel Entertainment, and John Turitzin and Rob Steffens. Xbox's acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, which has had some uphill battles, namely Sony, gets approval from Japan's Competition Regulator of The Japan Fair Trade Commission as Sony now faces eleven members of The United States Congress regarding 'Anti-Competitive Tactics' the company has been accused of regarding the big sale. Welcome to Neo-Reality Collective | Pop-Culture News and Reviews Talk, Hosted by Eric Brown! In the Sixtieth Episode, From the days of Crisis on Infinite Earths, DC has understood the importance of new starts, taking our favorite superheroes in unexpected new directions and establishing a DC Universe that reflects the world of today. It's certainly been true for our comics, and it's equally true for our many movies and TV series. Last year, Warner Bros. Discovery, after a lengthy series of pissing off their consumers and production teams along with enabling Ezra Miller, announced that blockbuster filmmaker James Gunn and producer extraordinaire Peter Safran had been hired as Co-Chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios, the new studio tapped with overseeing all DC film, TV, animation and game projects going forward. Since then, following, of course, DC fans having to be split down the middle in drama over the removal of Henry Cavill, The Black Adam departure, and crazy ideas such as connecting video games with Film/TV, have all pretty much been wondering the same thing: what new movies and TV series are they working on? Well, the wait is over, everyone! Gunn and Safran have unveiled the first ten interconnected DC Studios projects—five movies and five HBO Max TV series. And we're here to discuss everything! NRC host, Eric Brown, kicks off the year with NEMESIS RELOADED #1 by Mark Millar and Jorge Jimenez! MINISERIES PREMIERE! The world's most evil comic book is back! Who is Nemesis, and why does this eccentric billionaire who dresses up in a mask and cape want to terrorize people instead of helping them? Isn't that how this is supposed to go? Trigger warning: Too violent and too cool for some! INTRODUCTION BY MARK MILLAR It feels weird to reboot one of your own projects, but kind of nice too. Historicall, pop culture icons get a facelift every fifteen ears or so as the Tim Burton era Batman gets replaced by Chris Nolan's Dark Knight or Daniel Craig makes way for Henry Cavill or the mighty Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Politics tends to move in these big ten-to-fifteen-year swings too, as the White House turns red or blue for half a generation, and comics likewise ebb and flow with new takes on old ideas. Nemesis was a book I created with the brilliant Canadian artist Steve McNiven. All my favorite Americans turn out to be Canadian and Steve is no exception! We brought this book out thirteen ears ago, right in the middle of Kick-Ass mania, and it sold GANG-BUSTERS. It was only four issues long, but I think I've signed as many of these as I've signed mv other evergreens like Old Man Logan, Kick-Ass, Superman: Red Son and Civil War. You can watch fan films online and if vou do a Google, you'll see homemade toys guys have beautifully painted and splattered with fake blood. 20th Century Fox bought the movie rights, first for the legendary Tony Scott and then for the great Joe Carnahan. Once those lapsed it was snapped up by Warner Brothers and it's been written and rewritten over there for years. What's the fascination with this project? How did Steve and I make more monev from this concept than we did from even Civil War, Marvel's biggest selling graphic novel of all time? It was literally just four issues. There's also so man things I'd do differently now, and this is the curse of being a published writer. Once vour project is out there, there's nothing you can do, right? Well, that's the beauty of the soft reboot. Superman was very different by the mid 50s than his Golden Age roots, that new take on the character flipped again in 1971 and John Byrne's revamp in 1986. This was my chance to bring Nemesis into a new age and tweak the origin, so I had more room to play than the original four issues, and also integrate him into this Millarworld universe we've put together, leading directly into the huge series we're doing in July. Big Game is where every one of our characters cross over in a spectacular summer event drawn by Marvel refugee Pepe Larraz. It's going to be spectacular, and I couldn't miss a chance to do the most perfect version of this concept I love and have the character interacting with all my other favorites. The whole experience has been incredibly satisfying, and I couldn't have asked for a better partner than DC's greatest artist; the brilliant, brilliant Jorge Jimenez. So, enjoy NEMESIS RELOADED and wait until you see where this book, Night Club, The Magic Order Volume 4 and our new The Ambassadors take vou. I promise it's going to be the best money you've ever slipped me. Cheers for now, MARK MILLAR
